How Players With Big Paychecks Have Fared In First Couple Of Weeks Of IPL 2022
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
he first two weeks of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 were filled with lots of drama, heartbreaks and exciting cricket that kept the fans on the edge of their seats. Two of the most successful teams in IPL's history Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are without a win while debutants Gujarat Titans (only unbeaten side) and Lucknow Super Giants are in second and third position on the points table respectively. Apart from CSK and MI, the other team that is still searching for its first win of the season is Sunrisers Hyderabad. Having let go of the likes of David Warner, Rashid Khan and Jason Holder, SRH have been completely outplayed in both of their opening games this year. The Hyderabad-based franchise invested heavily on Nicholas Pooran, getting him onboard for a whopping Rs 10.75 core but the West Indies wicket-keeper batter scored a nine-ball duck and in the second match, he showed glimpse of what he can do with the bat but it wasn't enough to get his team over the finish line. Here is a look at how the players who got big paychecks at the IPL 2022 mega auctions have fared so far in the tournament: Nicholas Pooran (10.75 cr) View this post on InstagramThe West Indies batter has had a disappointing start to the tournament. Pooran had failed last year when he was with the Punjab Kings and now with a new setup that consists of a legendary coaching staff with Brian Lara, Tom Moody, Dale Steyn among others. fans felt it could be his season but so far he hasn't been able to live up to the expectations of SRH fans. Pooran scored 34 off 24 against Lucknow Super Giants in a match where they were chasing 170 for the win. However with 27 needed of 16, Pooran smashed a full toss by Avesh Khan straight into the hands of Deepak Hooda at long off and SRH's chances of a win also ended with his innings. He has scored 34 runs in two matches at a strike-rate of 103.3 and he certainly has not done justice to his price tag. Ishan Kishan (15.25 cr) View this post on InstagramThe pocket dynamite was the most expensive player of this year's IPL. Mumbai Indians retained him by splashing money like water as they spent 15.25 crore to get his services. Ishan Kishan started the tournament with a bang as he scored 81 off 48 balls. In the next couple of games, Kishan has not been himself as his strike-rate dropped significantly. The southpaw scored a half-century in the second game but it took him 43 balls. He again struggled against the swinging deliveries as he played 21 balls for his knock of 14. Ishan Kishan's inability to get the team off to a good start in the last couple of games has affected Mumbai Indians dearly. With Rohit Sharma also not in form has not helped their cause either. Shreyas Iyer (12.25 cr) View this post on InstagramShreyas Iyer was given the opportunity to lead Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after the franchise decided to let go Eoin Morgan, the man who led them to the finals last year. While Iyer has done well as a captain, his batting form has dropped since the start of the 15th edition of the IPL. Iyer was scoring runs for fun before the IPL in international cricket but in the four matches he has played so far, the 27-year-old has only managed to get 69 runs at a strike-rate of 138. KKR would be hoping that their skipper could turn this around in the upcoming matches if they want to lift the trophy this year. Liam Livingstone (11.50cr) View this post on Instagram After a quiet start to the tournament, Liam Livingstone unleashed his fury on the bowlers, scoring back-to-back half-centuries. Punjab Kings invested 11.50 crore in the England all-rounder and so far he has delivered for them with both bat and ball. Livingstone is the third-highest run scorer in this year's IPL with 162 runs from four matches at a strike-rate of 190. Add to that he has also picked up a couple of wickets. Punjab Kings, under the leadership of Mayank Agarwal, looks like a team on a mission and with the likes of Livingstone firing on all cylinders, this could turn out to be their season. The much awaited trailer for Badhaai Do is finally out and as expected, it is garnering praise on social media. If the OG Badhaai Ho was any indication, this one should also deal with a so-called 'uncomfortable topic' with the same maturity and tenderness, with impressive humour levels. Take a look at the trailer if you haven't already. While we are always happy to see Rajkummar Rao on screen thanks to his inimitable screen persona, this time, it was more exciting for everyone because of his never before seen, super muscular avatar. Rajkummar went through a 'crazy muscle transformation', and plays a cop in the movie. His entry scene showcases his ripped physique that he is unabashedly admiring in the mirror - he even goes ahead and ends up kissing his own bicep. © Junglee Pictures And why won't he? When you have biceps like that, they deserve some love. However, not everyone has them but everyone wants them. It's honestly not very difficult to build defined and kissable biceps like that, except most people end up committing some stupid mistakes in the gym that don't let them build the same. via GIPHY Keeping that in mind, here are 4 mistakes to avoid in the gym to build defined, kissable biceps like Rajkummar Rao in Badhaai Do, in 6-8 weeks. 1. Avoid weights you can't handle © iStock This is the ultimate gain killer, but gym bros often swear by it. How often have you seen someone load up a barbell with heavy weights, only to use their whole body with a jerk to lift the weight instead of actually focusing on the bicep - which is the whole point of the exercise? Momentum will target every other part like your back and your shoulder, instead of actually focusing on your bicep. Read point number 1 and decrease the weight to do a proper rep! 3. Avoid focusing only on DB/BB curls © iStock Avoid putting in all your efforts only in one kind of bicep exercise. Understand the musculature and focus on all the heads. Even though most people focus only on dumbbell or barbell curls, it is essential to incorporate other exercises too like the hammer curls to increase the thickness. You can also use the pull up bar to your advantage by incorporating different kinds of chin ups and hanging drills. 4. Not focusing on triceps © iStock Yes, we're noting down bicep training mistakes, but this one belongs here. The human arm musculature is formed of 30% bicep muscles, and 70% tricep muscles. No matter how hard you train your biceps, avoiding your triceps will cost you size and fullness, apart from muscular imbalance. Focus on triceps more than your biceps in fact, and you'll be amazed to see your biceps are looking much bigger and more defined because of the muscular symmetry you'll achieve out of it. Avoid these 4 bicep training mistakes in the gym, and thank us in 6-8 weeks! All the best fam! View the full article
