  1. Maniesh Paul is actually quite the hypebeast. Which, given Bollywoodâs obsession with sneakers is not that surprising. On any given day, you will find our B-Towners sporting some really cool classics, most of which are actually pieces that hardcore collectors and sneakerheads would happily shell out an exorbitant amount of rupees to get their hands on. © Instagram/manieshpaul It was, therefore, quite a surprise when Maniesh Paul showed up wearing one of the most quirky pairs of sneakers ever to have been made, for a recent film screening. © Viral Bhayani But first, letâs get to his outfit. Maniesh is seen here wearing a dope camouflaged hooded t-shirt. Or a rather hooded t-sweatshirt, if that makes any sense. With that, he has paired a quirky pair of jeans, which actually has a very interesting silhouette. © Viral Bhayani Thanks to the number of exposed zippers on the front, they have a very technical appeal, and actually look quite zany. However, they certainly donât hold a candle to the quirky sneakers that heâs wearing. © Viral Bhayani Maniesh is seen here wearing the Nike Air Jordan 1 âFearlessâ sneakers, which, actually is a pair that has had the most visceral reactions to a sneaker, ever. Theyâre often referred to as clown shoes or clown sneakers, thanks to the rather flamboyant colour scheme that they have. © Hypebeast The fact that they are made of patent leather, instead of the usual calfskin leather that goes with the Jordan 1s also seems to aggravate people. The end result is a sneaker that has a classically Jordan 1 silhouette, but with a rather bizarre finish. They would have been perfect for Joaquin Phoenix in Joker, thanks to their bizarre and colours and finish. © Warner Bros. Pictures With that being said, the other colours that are part of the drop have actually been well received, particularly their all-red version of the Fearless, which sold out in minutes once they went up for sale. © Hypebeast We quite actually like the red and blue Jordan 1s. Yes, they are a little unusual, but thatâs what makes them interesting. As for the manner in which Maniesh is wearing them, having changed the laces with a pair of blue laces, they are actually kinda cool. They certainly have our approval. © Viral Bhayani Way to go Maniesh! View the full article
  2. For all of us struggling with motivation issues for losing weight, hereâs a bit of unlikely inspiration - Tommy Monkhouse, a film student at Londonâs University of Greenwich, has lost around 63kg in a single year. His workout routine? No gyms or expensive coaches here - just a steady diet of walks while playing the worldâs favourite alternate-reality mobile game, Pokemon GO. âI feel stronger mentally, I feel stronger physically, I feel like I can be happy,â Tommy told Cult of Mac. His journey began when at a low point in his self-esteem (and a weight of 158kg), a friend suggested that he play the video game. In Pokemon GO, players move around the actual physical world, while a GPS system on their mobile phones allows them to track movement, while catching and raising a popular 500-strong roster of powerful monsters - each with their own unique moves and characteristics. The game rewards physical movement by providing incentives such as bonus items and the ability to hatch Pokemon eggs - by moving around in your surroundings and racking up step counts. When Tommy first started playing Pokémon Go, he told his mom he was going out for a walk, and expected to be home after 20 minutes. âAnd before I knew it ⦠I went on a three-hour walk,â he said in an awesome new video from Niantic. âAnd the whole time I smiled.â âI went through this incredible journey in my head,â Tommy said. âIf I can do this in three hours, whatâs going to happen over, say, a week, a month, a year?â he recalled thinking at the time. © Tommy Monkhouse/Niantic âI watched myself go from this extremely huge person who wasnât happy with his life, who wasnât happy with who he was,â to being happier, healthier and stronger, Tommy said in a video made by Niantic, the gameâs developers. The changes started quickly. âIt took me about a month to realize Iâd lost any weight,â Tommy said. âI was noticing slight changes and clothes not fitting as tightly. I then noticed that I was getting less and less out of breath as I was out playing the game.â View the full article
  3. Dr Sania Nishtar. Photo: File Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Sania Nishtar on Wednesday said that nearly 140,000 government employees had been receiving welfare payments under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Geo News reported. Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Nishtar said that employees of Pakistan Railways, Pakistan Post and Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services had been made part of the programme. The beneficiaries were present on both provincial and federal levels, she said. Also read: Govt to take action against 2,543 officers reaping benefits from BISP The BISP had been launched by the Pakistan Peoples Party government in 2008 to provide welfare payments to the poorest of the poor across the country. Earlier this month, the government had decided to take action against officials benefiting monetarily from the program. According to official data, 2,543 government officials from grade 17 to 21 were mentioned as beneficiaries under the welfare scheme. A few days before the data was made public, Nishtar had announced the removal of 820,000 ‘undeserving’ beneficiaries from the welfare programme. Also read: Govt to exclude 'non-deserving' people from BISP: Dr Sania Nishtar "The notices to BISP officers who had been taking advantage of the programme have been issued already," Nishtar said, adding that all provincial secretaries had been tasked with taking action against the undeserving beneficiaries of the BISP. "Under the directions of the prime minister, the names of the government officers benefiting from the program will soon be made public," Nishtar affirmed. Earlier this week, Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed his government to make public the names of those reaping 'undeserved' benefits from BISP. "The personal assets, including cars and properties, of the beneficiaries of the BISP were analysed and a thorough investigation conducted to remove undeserved names from the BISP," Nishtar added.
  4. India is no stranger to social unrest. Behind the CAA-NRC protests that are sweeping across the nation and making headlines around the world, is a long legacy of protests - each with their own demands, philosophies, social clashes and successes or failures. While the current protests seem to be leaderless, several Indian politicians have had a history of associating themselves with activism along broad ranges of the political spectrum. Here are some of the faces we've seen behind placards and posters of India's most momentous protests and agitations. Periyar E.V. Ramasamy - Tamil Nadu Anti-Hindi Protests, 1937-1940 © (Wikimedia) One of India's foremost progressive and feminist thinkers, he also knew how to strike a good pose. Age During Protests: 58 Synonymous with representing Dravidian interests and pushing for progressive, forward-thinking reforms, Periyar R.V. Ramasamy is one of Tamil Nadu's most respected and well-documented thinkers. A staunch ally of Ambedkar's, one of his key contributions as an activist arose during the imposition of Hindi as a compulsory language in Tamil Nadu, a move that many saw as deeply insensitive of the region's cultural interests. © Periyar alongside Dr. Ambedkar and Jinnah in Bombay, 1940. Ramasamy, along with several others, spearheaded a powerful movement that included fasts, conferences, marches, picketing and protests. The government responded with a crackdown resulting in the deaths of two protesters and the arrests of 1,198 people including women and children - although the British Raj in Madras gave into their demands on February 1940 after the resignation of the Congress Government in 1939. Narendra Modi - Navnirman Movement, 1974 © (India Today) Modi as a prakarchak in the RSS, during the early seventies. Age During Protests: 24 PM Modi's home state Gujarat wasn't a good place to be in, back in 1971. After winning the 1970 war against Pakistan, the then-Congress government was faced with the tall order of uplifting the poor - a difficult task considering that Gujarat was suffering from widespread corruption, famine and inflation at the time. © (Narendramodi.in) Thousands of protestors launched a campaign to dethrone the Congress from their seat at Ahmedabad. Inspired by the actions of student activists who demanded reforms, thousands of Gujaratis joined in to create the Navnirman protests. PM Modi, who was only 24 years old at the time, had already developed an interest in activism during his association with the ABVP, and joined the protest on the front lines. Not only was the protest a success - it also deeply shaped a younger PM Modi's political beliefs and was the event that propelled him from student activism to serious politics - perhaps we wouldn't have seen him become Prime Minister without this early major influence. Arun Jaitley - Anti-Emergency Protests, 1974-1977 © (arunjaitley.com) Jaitley contesting for college elections back in the early seventies. Age During Protests: 22 This ex-Finance Minister has had a long and pretty intense history with activism as an ABVP student leader. Strongly opposed to Indira Gandhi's rule as Prime Minister, he rallied support against her, almost immediately after emergency was imposed on the night of June 25, 1975. “The next morning,” recounted Jaitley, “I collected as many people as I could and burnt an effigy of Mrs Gandhi [Indira] and got arrested. I courted arrest.” © (Wikimedia) From prison to Parliament - Jaitley practicing as a senior advocate during the eighties and nineties. Jaitley spent the next 19 months in jail, and after his release, continued to focus on creating change through his career as an advocate at the highest levels of the Indian legal machine. Prafulla Kumar Mahanta - The Assam Movement, 1979-85 © (The Telegraph) Mahanta (far left) along with AASU colleagues, meeting with Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1979. Age During Protests: 27 Mahanta entered the political realm at a young age - while studying law at Gauhati University, he was appointed president of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU), which spearheaded and led the popular Assam Movement against illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. The movement aimed to protect the cultural, social and economic interests of the indegenous Assamese people. © (Wikimedia) Mahanta making an appearance with the Culture & Tourism Ministry, New Delhi. The movement propelled him from the platform of a young student leader to one of the region's most influential politicians, eventually becoming Chief Minister of Assam for two separate terms. He now serves as an MLA from the Barhampur constituency. Anna Hazare - Indian Anti-Corruption Movement, 2011 © (Reuters) Hazare adjusts his glasses at a sit-in protest in New Delhi. Age During Protests: 74 Kisan Baburao Hazare, better known as Anna Hazare, is perhaps one of the closest protest leaders the country has had to Mohandas Gandhi himself. Choosing a similar tactic of hunger strikes and peaceful agitation, he began his work as an activist in the late 70s, using grassroot level movements to uplift villages from poverty in Maharashtra. © (Reuters) Hazare's supporters were attacked by police water cannons during a protest outside ex-CM Manmohan Singh's residence. In 2011, Hazare led a widespread anti-corruption movement that aimed to introduce the Jan Lokpal Bill into India's legislature. While the bill faced roadblocks, the social activism brought together thousands of Indians against corrupt government officials, and also led to the rise of Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party. Arvind Kejriwal - Nirbhaya Movement, 2012 © (Reuters) Kejriwal addressing a gathering of his supporters after being appointed CM of Delhi. Speaking of Kejriwal - the former income tax official and now CM of Delhi has had a long career in activism - leading the charge right alongside Anna Hazare during the anti-corruption protests, until the two split on differences of opinion. This ascension from the anti-corruption movement led to the Aam Aadmi Party being formed in November 2012 - mere weeks away from the horrific rape case involving Jyoti Singh, commonly referred to as Nirbhaya. In outrage, thousands of protestors, especially women, stormed the streets of New Delhi demanding swift action against the rapists. © (Reuters) No stranger to protests, it seems. Kejriwal, just barely a few days into his new political career as AAP President, took a group of 60-70 activists on a march from Jantar Mantar right up to the residence of Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi, where they held a candlelight vigil and demanded that the criminals be brought to justice - given that the police were using lathi charges, water cannons and teargas to suppress protests, Kejriwal deserves a mention for being one of the few political voices to stand on-ground for Nirbhaya's justice - which will finally be realised later this January. 6. Ask anyone what their dream car is and no one will tell you names like Alto or Swift Dzire or Honda City. They will say they are crazy about a Porche or a Lamborghini. But, let's accept it, cars like Lamborghini aren't cheap! Unless, you're a supremely rich guy or have won Kaun Banega Crorepati and decided to use it all to buy a car that's close to Rs 5 crore. In short, it's way beyond the league for an average person working 9 to 5. Now imagine someday the makers of Lamborghini decide to send you one of their expensive car models just like that! We all know something like this will not happen to us. But, it happened with Sterling Backus and his son Xander. Remember that father and son duo from Colorado who went viral on social media for building a Lamborghini Aventador from scratch, using 3D printers and genuine parts? © YouTube Lamborghini Looks like their dedication and sincerity left such a deep impact on the makers of Lamborghini that they, reportedly, sent them a real Aventador model. Actually, they have lent the car to the father-son duo for two weeks. 54-year-old Sterling who is a Physicist and his 12-year-old son have been working on replicating the model since the past two years. They got inspired to build the supercar from scratch when they were playing a racing simulation game Forza Horizon 3. Recently, he revealed he got a call from the chief marketing officer of Automobili Lamborghini saying that they want to make a commercial with his family and that they will loan him the car for two weeks. "I was shaking in my boots since, it was like getting a call from the Pope and he is coming to dinner. Of course, a metaphor, but just to give (you) the idea of the gravity to me, personally," he told CNN. Their plan was to swap the project car with a real model so they could surprise Xander who has been working so hard with his father to build the replica. It won't be wrong to say Lamborghini played their not-so-secret Santa as they got the car right before Christmas and got to drive in a real Lamborghini for a few days. View the full article
  7. Due to heavy snowfall in Nathu La in East Sikkim, over 1500 tourists got stranded in the snow between 13th Mile and Nathu La Pass on Friday. At a time when most people almost lost all hope, the Indian Army came to their rescue and took all the stranded tourists to a safe place. Reportedly, the tourists including women, children and elderly people were returning from Nathu La Pass-Tsomgo Lake when they got stuck midway at different points along the Jawaharlal Nehru Road as the motorable stretch was blocked by snow. #HADRSikkim2019#NationFirst Braving hostile and inclement weather #IndianArmy rescued 1700 tourists who were stranded between 13th Mile to Natu La in Sikkim on 27 Dec. Much needed food, shelter, medicines & warm clothing helped the stranded tourists @adgpi @SpokespersonMOD pic.twitter.com/os5d25YDc8 — EasternCommand_IA (@easterncomd) December 28, 2019 Despite poor visibility and freezing weather, the Indian Army immediately began their rescue mission. The tourists were provided with food, shelter, warm clothes and medicines. Some of the tourists were also accommodated at an Army Camp at 17th mile. The Army also provided JCB machines and dozers to clear the snow and restore the road connectivity so that the tourists can be safely evacuated to Gangtok. View the full article
  8. The past decade has been instrumental in changing how we play games today as developers pushed gaming consoles and PCs to the limit. While pushing technical specifications to the limit is impressive, some games changed the way we play games altogether. Some delivered narratives that are at par and even beyond cinema while others became live services for gamers. © MensXP While many notable games were released in the past decade, choosing our top 20 was a Herculean task. We had to consider many games that truly pushed the envelope and changed the industry forever while leaving out games that only built on their past successes. So here's our list of the top 20 games of the decade in no particular order: The Last of Us © naugghty dog No list would be complete without having The Last of Us as it redefined storytelling in games forever. The game is known for delivering a compelling, emotional and thought-provoking narrative that can even give some of the best movies a run for their money. This game was responsible for making millions cry within the first few minutes of the game and had tension-filled gameplay that made everything come together beautifully. The game originally launched for the PlayStation 3 in 2013 and is still one of the most beloved games of the decade. Dark Souls & Bloodborne It's hard not to mention Dark Souls while talking about the best games of the decade. An RPG that overturned the world's idea of challenge and myth-making. We could talk about this game for hours and still won't be able to cover everything. And that level of complexity is what makes it special. © From Software It's also quite fascinating how Dark Souls' formula has changed over the years with every new game. Bloodborne, for instance, is yet another punishing RPG, but we're yet to have seen such an epic video game to date. And then there's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which is similar in many ways but separates itself as a ninja fantasy. You simply can't afford to miss these titles. Celeste © Matt Makes Games While Indie games had a resurgence this decade, nothing came close to Celeste's success. Apart from being a punishing platformer, the game also offered awesome pixel art, mesmerising music and a story that has been applauded for being bold. The game brought a refreshing take on how platforming games can evolve and pose a challenge at the same time. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate © Nintendo This game showed the world what a fighting game can become and is by far the best game in the series yet. With constant addition of new characters and an addictive gameplay, it is perfect for both competitive and casual players. It is the ideal party game that encourages couch gameplay and comes with imaginative stages that enhance the fighting game to the next level. It has already been awarded the best fighting game of all time by various outlets and in our books, it is the best fighting game you can play across all platforms. Overwatch © Blizzard Overwatch redefined the esports scene while standing out from every other game by offering heroes that have specific abilities to make for the most strategic multiplayer game of this decade. Choosing the right hero can make or break your team and co-ordination is key to winning matches in this highly competitive online multiplayer game. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order © Electronic Arts Star Wars games have had a hard time stealing the attention of gamers. Even die-hard fans of the popular franchise swayed themselves away from these games until EA's new Star Wars title dropped earlier this year. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the first great Star Wars game in a decade. We couldn't have asked for a better protagonist than Cal, the youngling Padawan, who tries to rebuild the Jedi order. His journey through the game will give you a sense of satisfaction that not many games have managed to offer this decade. PUBG & Fortnite PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, popularly known as PUBG, may not have been the first Battle Royale game to hit the stores, but it was undoubtedly the first one to make huge waves around the gaming industry. It quickly became every PC gamers' and streamers' favourite game, and the rest, as they say, is history. © Pubg Corp PUBG is certainly not the most popular video game out there right now. In fact, it doesn't have nearly as many players as it once used to have. That's in part due to other BR games, especially Fortnite, that came up with a battle royale mode and simply took over the world by storm. By allowing players to buy cosmetic upgrades and collaborating with popular brands, Fortnite has now become a money minting machine for Epic Games, that went on to release its own marketplace, snatching developers and users from Steam. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt © CD Projekt Red You aren't really surprised to see The Witcher 3 on the list, are you? Well, we had to add this to the list because it's not only the best RPG of this decade, but probably the best one ever made. Outstanding writing, great side-quests, well-defined characters, and a rich combat system make this 80-hour or so long RPG a surprisingly enjoyable experience. If you've not played this game yet, then grab a copy right now and play it. You're missing out if you don't. Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild © Nintendo Breath of the Wild is the game-changing iteration in the series that is all about playing an open-world RPG filled with adventure and secrets. It is also the first time in the series Zelda fans could explore their environment with full freedom while following a compelling story. Grand Theft Auto 5 © Rockstar Games When Rockstar Games announced the arrival of Grand Theft Auto 5 eight years ago, it was literally everywhere. It was said to be one of the biggest GTA games ever made and we're glad that Rockstar Games delivered on that promise and how. It's hardly a surprise that this game is still making money for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive. I mean, it has millions of players who still wait for the new content to arrive on its online multiplayer world, GTA Online. I certainly have some huge expectations from the next GTA title, but I doubt if it'll be anything like the GTA V. Don't get me wrong, I think GTA 6, or whatever they decide to call it, will be equally enjoyable. But let's just say that they don't make 'em like GTA V anymore. They simply can't! Nier Automata © Platinum Games The slasher role-playing game redefined the genre with addictive gameplay and an unusual style of storytelling. One has to play this game five times to experience the entire story as each time the story changes to a very different perspective. Nier Automata is a love letter to gaming history that embraces all the different styles you can imagine in a very innovative way. The South Park series © Ubisoft A lot of South Park games have come and gone, but The Stick Of Truth and The Fractured But Whole are the best ones. Both games are really good, although we'd have to admit that The Stick Of Truth is better overall. However, we suggest you play both of them to experience different elements of each game and get one heck of a South Park experience. These are the best TV Show-based video games that should be in your library. Mario Kart 8 © Nintendo Entertainment A fantastic game on the Wii U, but an even better one when played on Switch. The Switch port comes with better visuals, new in-game characters, and a whole bunch of new unshockable content to make you grind. It just makes up for an overall better experience and it's a must-play game from this decade. In fact, it's a must-own for Switch users. God Of War © Sony Computer Entertainment God of War released for the PlayStation 4 in a new format that redefined the series in scope and storytelling. The series was more like a joke on the PlayStation 3 that was later transformed into a narrative-driven game with unique gameplay mechanics. The game has gorgeous environments and each character has been developed with the utmost care and given real depth when comparing the game to previous iterations. Pokemon Go © Niantic We have already featured Pokemon Go in our list of apps and games that defined this decade, and that's the exact same reason why it's on this list too. Pokemon Go is one of those games that truly changed the way we play games on mobile phones. It's probably the first AR game to explode in a way that no other title ever has. And the fact that you'll have to step outside to play and enjoy it with others makes it the only game with a strong sense of community engagement. No wonder this game is still hitting the top download charts after becoming the most downloaded game when it came out. Minecraft © Mojang How can we forget Minecraft? Did you really think we'd leave this game out of the list? This has got to be the most influential game on this list and it's simply impossible to ignore the sizable portion of its player base. Minecraft is one of those sandbox games that let you build your own world and literally do anything inside it. It's like a blank canvas where you sketch whatever you want. No matter what games come after Minecraft's position in the gaming world, it'll always retain the crown of being the most influential game. Marvel's Spider-Man © Insomniac Games It was the first time gamers were able to play as the friendly neighbourhood superhero in a fully populated city of New York. The game is true to the series and also comes with an emotionally impactful story. Environments are rich and filled with details you would not see in any other Spider-Man game till date. It has addictive combat systems and even more addictive slinging mechanism that enables players to explore NYC for hours without getting bored. Destiny © Bungie Speaking of games that are serving a strong community, we simply can't forget Destiny. Explaining Destiny in a few words is just impossible. There's so much to do in the game, and there's no proper way to do it. In fact, we doubt people even play this game the way Bungie intended at first. But that's what makes it so special and managed to get an audience like none other. Destiny 2, which is now taking the legacy forward is also equally enjoyable, so be sure to try them out. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim © Bethesda Bethesda's Skyrim has been lauded for its highly open-world environments and expansive side quests that made this game a success on every platform imaginable. The game offers high-fantasy lore that is easy for anyone to get into and also offers a great main story for fantasy genre fans. Skyrim is also the most modded game on the planet where players can curate their own stories and quests, making this game one of the most replayable games of the decade. Red Dead Redemption Series © Rockstar Games The Red Dead Redemption series is the only game set in the Wild West that not only meets expectations, but surpasses them. The game has an invigorating story, lush open-world environments and colour characters, making this game a precious entry in this list. RDR2 takes these concepts to the next level with up-to-date graphics that have set the bar high for future games in this category. View the full article
  9. There is a difference between borrowing an idea and blatantly copying an idea, and sometimes Bollywood goes a notch higher when it takes up an English movie and remakes it with some bad ingredients. Not every copy is a success and here are seven Hindi movies which were poorly copied from Hollywood and then were absolutely ruined for fans. 1. Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi It was a YRF movie with clichéd elements like a big happy family, a pretty looking leading lady, lots of music and fantasy. Yet it failed to match the original spunk of My Best Friend's Wedding as Uday Chopra tried hard to recreate what Julia Roberts' character did in the original. 2. Murder In 2002, the Richard Gere starrer Unfaithful surprised fans with a bold script and really well-twisted plots. Come 2004, the famous Murder series marks its arrival with Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat in the lead. The one thing that surely worked for this was the kind of boldness that Bollywood was not acquainted with yet, and the great music which made it memorable. Still, it didn't match the original. 3. Deewane Huey Pagal This multi-starrer romantic comedy starring Shahid Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal chasing Rimi Sen as the girl they love was a dud at the box office and was a poor copy of There's Something About Mary which had Cameron Diaz play the woman who was being wooed by her suitors. 4. Main Aisa Hi Hoon A sensitive script lifted from I Am Sam about a doting father with disabilities trying to fight for the custody of his daughter. Ajay Devgn had some powerful scenes but it was nothing compared to the original which had Sean Penn in the lead. 5. God Tussi Great Ho You know a movie is a poor attempt of copying a brilliant script when a star cast of Big B, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra can also not save it from drowning. Borrowed completely from Jim Carrey's Bruce Almighty, this one was a major flop. 6. Brothers Except for looking at the great physiques of Sidharth Malhotra and Akshay Kumar fighting it out in the ring, this movie was a lame copy of the original, Warrior, a story about two half brothers turning into mortal enemies in the ring. 7. Kucch To Hai A blatant copy of I Know What You Did Last Summer, this movie saw terrible acting from the leads Tusshar Kapoor and Esha Deol. View the full article
  10. The most iconic show to hit our screens ended with a lot of disappointment this year. Yes, I am talking about Game of Thrones, and its season 8, which left us in a state of anger and confusion. So much so, that fans leveraged petitions for the season to be re-made, while they called out the writers David Benioff and DB Weiss for actually killing major character arcs ordinarily, towards the end and writing off powerful women characters, without giving their characters due justice or proper closure. © HBO Now Peter Dinklage, also known as Tyrion Lannister in the show, has come forward and spoken about how Daenerys' actual fate was always hinted to its audience from the beginning and we should have actually picked up on those 'signposts'. The character of Daenerys Targaryen goes from absolute naivety to a woman unleashing her fury on the world, ultimately ending with her demise. The slow twist of the dark turn of character simply put Benioff and Wiess in a lot of controversy for showing women characters poorly in the show. In an interview with The New Yorker, 50-year-old Dinklage claims that he understands that people loved Danny's character played by Emilia Clarke, but also said since the beginning, the show's plot line always hinted at where Daenerys' character was eventually heading. In the interview he stated: "Well, everybody's always going to have an opinion, and that means an ownership. It's like breaking up with somebody. They get upset. I can't speak for everybody, but my feeling is they didn't want it to end, so a lot of people got angry. I feel like what Dave and Dan did was extraordinary. This happens. Monsters are created. And you don't see it coming. We vote them into office. You look the other way. So for everybody to get upset because they loved a character so much and they had so much faith in that person there were signposts along the way for that character." © HBO He also added the fact that Daenerys transformation from a 'righteous leader', to a 'powerful autocrat' was happening all along and everyone should have noticed the transition. "It added up to something. There are people who've named their children Khaleesi. You've just got to maybe wait till the series finale before you get that tattoo or name your golden retriever Daenerys! I can't help you! I'm sorry. She went mad. She was driven to that, and she's a victim as well in terms of how she was treated. She went through it, and she came out angry, as a lot of us do," he added further to the interview. © HBO Well, he is right about naming your dogs and babies on an impulse, when a TV show character is still being built. A lot of people named their girls and their dogs Khaleesi and well, Khaleesi met her unfortunate fate. Well, obviously this isn't mirroring the fate of people and dogs who're named the same but maybe having a bit of patience to see how the character unravels can help you naming your loved ones better. Although, Khaleesi aka Daenerys was a fearless ruler, her character arc did take an unfortunate turn towards the end. View the full article

In fact, Xiaomi has disclosed due to its anti-counterfeit measures, a complaint was filed with the local police and raids were conducted in the Karol Bagh market. In the raid, the police and Xiaomi representative retrieved fake or counterfeit products with Xiaomi's branding at multiple stores in the market. © Xiaomi Over 2000 products were seized from shop owners and were arrested for allegedly selling counterfeit Xiaomi products. Amongst the counterfeit products, it was found that products like Mi Powerbanks, Mi Neckbands, Mi Travel Adaptor with Cable, Mi Earphone Basic with Mic, Mi Wireless Headsets, Redmi Air Dots, Mi 2-in-1 USB Cable and others were being sold at a number of stores. © Xiaomi According to Xiaomi, “The police found out upon interrogation that the four suppliers have been managing this business for years now. These counterfeit products were allegedly sold in retail and wholesale to the customers from their retail shops: Galaxy Mobile Accessories, BCM Plaza, Shop No. 14 - Sega Market, Shop No. 2 - Lotus Plaza.” © Xiaomi The counterfeit industry is estimated to be valued at $650 billion annually according to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and is not limited to technology products. 12. In case you haven't realised it, 2019 marks the end of a full decade. As we embark on a new journey walking into 2020 with life lessons and emotional baggage, we thought what are a few things that will stay with us from this soon to be ex of ours. One of the best things was the kind of entertainment content we got to watch as viewers in these past couple of years. So to help us all, we decided to curate a list of the 10 best shows which were entertainment gamechangers. Now you might differ in your opinion and that is perfectly okay, but here are some of the most loved shows of this decade. 1. Game Of Thrones The finale of one of the most watched shows in the history of television was kind of disappointing for a lot of fans out there, but there is a reason why GOT became the epic saga of emotions which enjoyed a cult fan following for over 8 years of its existence. The magnanimous scale of production, absolutely surprising storylines, breathtaking cinematography, and literally everything about this show changed the way an epic is lived on the screen. 2. Stranger Things An American sci-fi show based in 1984, kids running with walkie-talkies, an 'upside down' world where a hungry demon awaits to devour everything in its way are some of the basic ingredients that make this show a big success. Following the adventures of these kids makes you want to be a part of this 'cool' group yourself. Clearly one of the best sci-fi dramas we watched in the last 10 years. 3. Sacred Games The only TV show which put India on the global map of how brilliantly one can serve entrainment on a platter. Sacred Games is a collective par excellence effort of Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap brought to life with the mad genius of Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The complicated relationship between Sartaj Singh and gangster Ganesh Gaitonde and the web of lies he's trapped with are some of the key ingredients which made this show the success it became. 4. Fleabag Phoebe Waller-Bridge did something which most women-oriented shows only attempt to do. Fleabag hit the bull's eye when it first made its debut over two years ago. The freshly packed rawness of absolutely relatable characters make your heart heavy, leave you with uncomfortable contradictory thoughts after every episode, leave you with pearls of laughter and sometimes make you wonder how brilliantly the flaws have been put on display. Needless to say, this show swept a lot of awards this year, a win which was rightly deserved. 5. Crown A show that makes it to this list not only because it is wonderfully and tastefully done, but also because it is a History lover's aesthetic delight. The show chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth and the whole circle of humans around her. Each scene is like a beautifully carved scripture and demands your full attention. 6. Black Mirror This dystopian anthropological series might give you the chills with a few episodes, but Black Mirror left people asking for more all the time. This show takes the credit for being one of the most compelling shows in the history of television. If you ever want to think how the future of the human species looks like, pick any episode and treat yourself with some discomfort thrown with a lot of awe in equal measure. 7. Peaky Blinders One of those marvellously made shows which enjoy a constant amount of viewership, courtesy its brilliant scriptwriting. Fans find this show to be an addictive watch and the strongly portrayed characters make for a must-watch in case you haven't watched it already. 8. Sherlock Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective series came to life with this British show which enjoys a stellar fan following. Benedict Cumberbatch's brilliant portrayal of the detective has made it one of the most iconic characters in the history of television. 9. Rick & Morty This American adult cartoon finds it place on this list for the kind of craziness it has managed to brew amongst its fan following. The cynical world of their sci-fi adventures addresses deep philosophical questions about human existence and life in general. 10. Homeland There are a lot of series which deal with the cat and mouse chase between the authorities and the people running away from them but none of them are remotely as gripping and packed with so much suspense as Homeland. Following the way being paved by Carrie Mathinson and her mentor Saul is a visual delight. Each season follows a different storyline and each of them are equally gripping. There is not a single dull moment as you try to unravel the mystery yourself. Let us know what are some of your favourite shows so we can add them to this list and help everyone curate a 'must watch' list of their own! View the full article

  14. Recently, PM Narendra Modi hosted a reception at his residence that was attended by the who's who of Bollywood. From Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez to Kangana Ranaut and Ekta Kapoor, almost every famous celebrity attended the 'Change Within' event, posted selfies and pictures from the party and thanked PM Modi for inviting them. View this post on Instagram Excellent interaction with leading film personalities and cultural icons. A post shared by Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) on Oct 19, 2019 at 9:48am PDT However, there's an interesting backstory that was shared by veteran singer SP Balasubrahmanyam on social media, where he low-key expressed how upset he was with PM Modi for being partial towards the Bollywood celebrities. Singer Balasubrahmanyam was also present at the same event, but he didn't post any pictures from there, nor any selfies with PM Modi. Why? Because his phone and that of a few other guests were taken away by the security personnel and they were given tokens for the same. So, how were the Bollywood celebrities allowed to carry their phones inside? That's exactly the point everyone is raising now. In his post on Facebook, he wrote "I am grateful to Ramoji Raoji, (Eenadu), because of whom I was able to attend a reception hosted by our Hon. Prime Minister at his home on the 29th of Oct. Upon entering the premises, we were asked to leave our cellphones with the security personnel and were given tokens for the same. But I was bewildered at the STARS taking selfies with the PM on that day. THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMM????? (sic)" The 'Change Within' event was organised to promote the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi. 16. The Dhadak star Janhvi Kapoor recently caught everyone's attention while she was outside her gym in her new swanky car. The actress has bought a stylish black Mercedes Maybach and the paparazzi got a glimpse of it today. The 22-year-old was seen completely excited getting out of the car and posed for a few pictures too for the shutterbugs, with a bright smile on her face. © BCCL Interestingly, Janhvi's new car has a connection with her late mother Sridevi. Her registration plate has figures 7666, while her mother's car also had the same registration number. Janhvi's new car is MH 02 FG 7666 and the legendary actor used to ride a white Mercedes that had a similar registration number – MH 02 DZ 7666. View this post on Instagram Cherish them, listen to them, give them all the love in the world â¤ï¸ Happy Mother's Day A post shared by Janhvi Kapoor (@janhvikapoor) on May 11, 2019 at 8:07pm PDT Janhvi was very close to Sridevi and chose to have a car that somehow connected with her mother. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Janhvi Kapoor (@janhvikapoor) on May 13, 2018 at 4:51am PDT On the work front, Janhvi will be next seen in RoohiAfza alongside Rajkummar Rao. She will also be seen in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and will start shooting for Karan Johar's two films Takht and Dostana 2.
  17. Karan Johar is quite the collector when it comes to off-beat outfits. Case in point, a recent event wherein he carried a bizarre look that intrigued us all. He was seen in a black and golden pantsuit by Issey Miyake along with a pair of Rick Owens boots and Yohji Yamamoto shades to complete the look. Take a look: © Viral Bhayani However, the fascinating aspect of his outfit lied in his boots. The Rick Owens silhouette is from FW'19 and is called the Larry Elastic Kiss Boots. They come for the price of $1413 which comes down to Rs 1,00,450. Here's what the silhouette looks like at a closer look: © Rick Owens This look especially stands out because the boots, as they appear, are a minimum of six inches long which also happens to be more than average of what women wear to events. Usually, regular shoes can give you an additional inch or two but this pair of Rick Owens is clearly an exception to the rule. So for example in this picture, if you look at Ananya Pandey with Karan Johar, you'll notice that Karan Johar's kiss boots are in fact taller than Ananya's heels. Take a look here: © Viral Bhayani This is not the first time Karan Johar has been spotted in a bizarre-looking outfit. In fact, in the past, he was spotted with a bag that changed colours like a chameleon. He was also seen wearing a sweatshirt with a to-do list on it. For Karan Johar, it seems like it isn't very hard to cherry-pick the best silhouettes for his flashy looks. We can't wait to see what he has in store for us next.
  18. Somewhere around 300 B.C. in the city of Alexandria - pride of Ancient Egypt - a Greek man named Euclid writes down a mathematical definition, “A straight line is said to have been cut in extreme and mean ratio when, as the whole line is to the greater segment, so is the greater to the lesser.” This line refers to what we now call the 'Golden Ratio', and featured in one of the greatest works of Greek mathematics ever written - the 13 volume treatise titled Elements. While we won't go into the specifics of geometry behind the ratio, its actual numerical value is 1.618. The brilliance of this number can't really be understated - ever since it was discovered, it's been found everywhere: In rose petals © Invision Countless works of art, such as the Mona Lisa © 99designs Donald Trump's head © knowyourmeme And even the galaxy itself © ABC Science Of course, it wasn't that long until someone tried to use this ratio in an attempt to quantify beauty, with crude psychological experiments in this field popping up in the 1860s in Germany. Now, however, a cosmetic surgeon from London has attempted to create a definitive list - using the 'Golden ratio' to determine scores for various facial features of some of the world's most popular and successful women in showbiz, as per the Daily Mail's report. © Instagram/Julian De Silva Dr. Julian De Silva from London's famous Harley Street compiled this list - using computerised mapping techniques that he also uses on his clients' faces - focusing on details such as eye position, face shape and several other facial features to create a definitive score. Let's take a look at his top five. #5 - Taylor Swift (91.64%) © Reuters “Another star who has emerged in the last five years. She rates very highly for her chin (97.8%) and lips (95.3) but was kept back by a low score (83%) for her eyebrows,” said Dr. Silva in his interview to the publication. #4 - Ariana Grande © Reuters “It is great to see one of the new generation of pop stars make the list. Ariana scored highly for her forehead (98%) and chin (96.1%). Marked down for her eyebrows (80%) and the larger than average gap (89.7%) between the top of her lips and her nose,” he said. #3 - Amber Heard © Reuters Dr. Silva explained, “Amber ranks so highly because of the wonderful shape of her nose (98%) and chin (99.6%). She has an ageless beauty. She would have been higher with a stronger face shape.” #2 - BeyonceÌ © Reuters “Beyoncé looks incredible as she approaches her 40s. She had a new perfect score for her face shape (99.6%), but was marked down for her eyebrows (87%) and chin (92.2%),” he said. #1 - Bella Hadid © Reuters Gigi Hadid's (who doesn't feature in the top ten at all) younger sister Bella made it to the very top of the list. According to Dr. Silva, “Bella Hadid is a worthy winner with stunning facial symmetry and a chin only 0.3% away from perfection. She also came second for her eye positioning (97.65%). She is one of the new generation of supermodels and could dominate the profession for the next decade with her stunning looks. Her biggest weakness is in the brow area. (88%).” Despite the obvious beauty of all these women, there's definitely something to be said for beauty in imperfection, and that it always depends on who's looking. What do you think? Let us know in the comments - especially if your #1 didn't make it to the list.
  19. It's Father's Day tomorrow and while a social media post doesn't quite suffice for thanking the most important man in our life, it won't hurt to let him know that you love him. Since fathers are the source of our inspiration and the light of guidance for all of us, here are 5 TV characters who played the role of absolute badass fathers and nailed it: 1. Walter White in 'Breaking Bad' A chemistry teacher going through a mid-life crisis and fighting deadly cancer turns into a complete badass when he realises that selling drugs is his only escape to make ends meet for his family to survive. 2. Brad Wolgast in 'The Passage' Brad Wolgast is a federal agent who, even though is not the biological father of Amy, loves and protects her like his own. He saves her from being a pawn in a medical experiment, which is being conducted in a medical facility aided by the government. 3. Logan Roy in 'Succession' He gives his kids a hard time but that is because he believes they need to go through it, as the world is unfair and you have to be strong. Logan makes sure his kids know the value of what they inherit. 4.David Budd in 'Bodyguard' A war veteran suffering from PTSD works in the police protection force as a bodyguard, and he knows how to protect his kin, fiercely. His kind yet strong personality makes him a great onscreen dad. 5.John Winchester in 'Supernatural' John was blinded by revenge and spent most of his time hunting and drinking. He sometimes looks like he's a callous dad but he is very protective of Sam and Dean and even gives up his life for his sons. It's that very tough upbringing that made Sam and Dean one of the finest hunters in the world.
  20. With 28 seasons already gone, 'The Simpsons' remains one of the best and most popular animated series in the history of television. Because what the Simpsons know in the future, clearly we don't! And they always happen to predict it through an episode, years before it actually happens! © 20th Television Don't believe me? Just recently, about two years ago, when 'Game Of Thrones', Season 7 had finished airing, 'The Simpsons' aired an episode in October 2017, called the 'Serfsons'. The episode was related to 'Game of Thrones' and in a scene, they showed a dragon burning down the family's village, which was actually synonymous with Daenerys Targaryen burning down King's Landing in episode 5, Season 8 of 'GoT', which aired last week! Well, this actually happened when Greece became the first developed country to face fierce debt with the International Monitory Fund, putting the country in a grave economic crisis. The show has made other popular predictions, which are heavily technical in nature and they've all come true and how! Let's just stay tuned to the show because we now think 'The Simpsons' will soon predict how the world will eventually end and it'll definitely come in handy!
  21. Being a parent, who brings about gender-neutrality when their child is growing up, is a very essential part of their upbringing. What is gender-neutrality when it comes to raising kids today? It's when parents raise their kids in an environment which does not force any preconceived gender norms upon them to adhere to. While you may think gender norms are subjective and some are more stereotyped than the others, the ardent belief that men should be raised a particular way, which distinguishes them for being men in the first place, is what's problematic in society. (c)Pintrest Today, there is a need for mothers and fathers to raise their children in a gender-neutral environment where discouraging them to pick up a few activities just because it doesn't fit a particular gender role should be overlooked and processed differently. It's problematic to feed men with the notion that it's not okay to be emotional or too sensitive or tell women their place is in the kitchen or as homemakers. It's a choice that both the parents have to give their children to make and follow, respectively. (c)Pintrest Most men today are raised by their mothers because it's a basic bond and any mother who's raising a child knows how to do it best. Mothers are leaning towards gender-neutral parenting and this Mother's Day, we gathered 5 men who spoke about gender-neutral things their mothers taught them, while they were growing up: (1) It's Absolutely Okay To Show Emotions! "I was always raised believing if you have a feeling or an emotion, it's absolutely okay to share it and show it. Hiding behind a garb of manliness and denying your own emotion can be quite toxic and dissatisfying. My mother, in fact, always encouraged me to emote when I was going through a tough time rather than walking out of a room because it was difficult to process a particular emotion. I am very thankful for that because I recognise emotions very easily, not just in me and I help people open up and process them. Especially for my son, who is 10." Akshay Luthra, 38, Marketing Consultant. (c)Pintrest (2) Stay-At-Home Dads Shouldn't Be Looked Down Upon "I am stay-at-home father, which means my wife got promoted last year and couldn't find the time to look after the kids round the clock. I have two children and their upbringing is very important to me. So, I work from home and take care of them, while my wife goes to the office. She and I both implement the fact that its absolutely normal to be a stay-at-home dad and it's not a gender-specific role, just for the mother to stay home and take care of the house and children'' - Rohit Nanda, 39, Freelance Writer (c)Pintrest (3) Cooking Doesn't Challenge Masculinity "My mother always loved cooking and she was of the opinion anyone can cook. She never saw it as an activity for just women, where they cook and serve at all times. In fact, my sister was never encouraged to enter the kitchen. If her interest lay there, she definitely would have. But I loved to cook since a child and my mother always encouraged it. Today I have my own restaurants and I still love to cook. It was because of my mother I changed my hobby, to my work now" - Pritiyush Kalra, 35, Chef (4) A Choice Is A Choice "I was always fascinated by wearing non-boyish clothes as a kid. I mean, I liked all these colourful dresses and my mom's make-up. I would just stare at her getting ready and always go for her make-up when she wasn't around. I remember the day she caught me, I thought I would -be in big trouble. But she asked me what I liked about make-up and I said I liked the colours. She then told me it was my choice as to what I liked wearing and how I liked dressing and she would never make that for me. I am very grateful to her for making it easy to identify and accept my choices and my sexuality, when society refused to" - Ankit Moghe, 28, Make-Up Artist. (5) It's About Knowing What're You're Good At "I have been fond of classical dance since I was a child. I used to watch it on television and always start dancing at home. My mother saw that time and again and enrolled me in Bharatanatyam classes. My father was very against this decision and said it's only something girls should do. But my mother stuck her ground and today I am a professional dancer, running my own school. It has also taught me that gender-neutral parenting is very important. It doesn't confuse who you are, it enhances your belief in equal opportunity between the two genders and this is what I will impart to my children as well." - Romith Iyer, 29, Danseur (c)Pintrest Gender-neutral kids are more creative as they're given an opportunity to explore their own wants and needs without facing a bias or a discouragement in their expression of choice. It is fairly important to reduce gender importance and norms that classify as a staunchly patriarchal society. In fact, it's time to do away with the basics of patriarchy and equalise and normalise the effect both genders have, in society. This Mother's Day, these 5 men wish to thank their mother for giving them the ultimate lesson in life- embracing who and what you really are!
  22. It has been a while since 'Avengers: Endgame' hit the theatres and if you really cared about the spoilers, you would have seen the film by now. Even then, out of sheer respect for a fellow Marvel fan, I am bound to put up this disclaimer: **SPOILERS AHEAD** If you are still here, it either means that you have seen the film or you really don't care about what all the fuss is. In either case, kudos! I like you. We are here to discuss why Captain America and the rest of 'the earth's mightiest' heroes are as evil and villainous as the 'Mad Titan', who had decided to snap away half the population of the universe and did exactly that at the end of 'Infinity War'. The reason behind Thanos' bold decision was sustainability, to put it simply, regardless of how dreadful his methods were. Blinded by the will to destroy half the living beings, Thanos did not stop at anything, not even sacrificing his daughter, Gamora, whom he loved the most. But the people who were considered to be the 'good guys', the ones who were supposed to “look out for the little guy”, are no different than Thanos. Snapping the Children of Thanos, the mindless Chitauri army and the Mad Titan himself, the Avengers did get rid of the threat, sure, but the 'decimation' done by Tony Stark was nothing less than capital punishment. Furthermore, the Avengers killed the numerous soldiers without a judicial order, thereby making it illegal and criminal. Killing Thanos' army like that on such a huge scale could be compared to burning down a jail full of criminals only because they were guilty of a crime. Yes, Thanos was evil and deserved the harshest of punishments but only after a trial, just like the Avengers and the rest of the forces wanted the Living Tribunal to. However, the Living Tribunal did not blame him of being guilty because according to him, Thanos was not disobeying the laws of existence and was simply replacing the weaker with the strong. © Marvel Comics On one hand, Thanos wanted to get rid of a random half of the living beings to make sure that the Universe doesn't implode due to lack of resources or overpopulation. This meant that even he had a 50% chance of dying after the snap. The Avengers, on the other hand, snapped to get rid of their foes and maintain their way of life, while pushing the universe into endless oblivion. So, I guess the question here now is that who actually was the villain at the end? Thanos or the Avengers?
  23. Spoilers. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a long-standing tradition of heavily manipulating their trailers, especially when it comes to movies like 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Avengers: Endgame'. Or, maybe it's just the Russo brothers being very extra. We all know how much of a secret the plot of 'Endgame' was, as even the actors weren't given full scripts and the Russo brothers even made some of them shoot fake scenes to keep them in the dark. Yes, they went to extreme lengths to keep everything under wraps so obviously, they wouldn't have undone all of that by just straight up giving away scenes in the trailers, teasers, and TV spots. Last year, we managed to find a bunch of differences between scenes in trailers and the actual scenes in the movie for 'Infinity War'. Now, for 'Endgame', the stakes are higher and so it the secrecy. Here are all the scenes from the trailer that were manipulated or just didn't appear in the movie: 1. Nat Practicing To Fight Thanos With A Gun??? Well, if a freaking axe made from a dying star can't kill the giant grape, a gun will, apparently. Okay, I don't want to be so mean about a scene that never even made it to the movie - probably because it was stupid - but what was the point? Sorry Nat, you can't kill Thanos with a gun. 2. Black Widow's Hair, Part One If you recall, Scott Lang showing up at the Avengers compound is what set everything in motion. Also, that happened five years after the Avengers managed to kill the present day Thanos. So, during that time jump, Nat has been keeping busy making peanut butter sandwiches and getting emails from a racoon, so of course, she let her hair grow out. In this particular scene in the movie, her hair is long and almost entirely red and not short and blonde. 3. The Avengers Walking In Their New Suits This was one of the best moments from all of the trailers when it came out because we saw everyone together. At that time also, a lot of people noted the absence of Thor and Bruce Banner. Well, now we know they were there but their look for the movie couldn't be revealed before. 4. 'Bring Me Thanos' (Again) A scene from 'Infinity War' that wasn't even in 'Infinity War'. This is basically a different version or maybe just a close of the best moment from the third Avengers movie - Thor's entrance in Wakanda. 5. Steve Crying In the trailers, the scene is set up as if he's crying because they couldn't stop Thanos before he snapped his fingers, but in reality, this comes after Natasha Romanoff's sacrificial death to get the Soul Stone. Moreover, there's someone else in the shot as well, standing in the back. (I can't remember who, I'm sorry, I've only watched the movie once yet) 6. Black Widow's Hair, Part Two I love how Natasha's red/blonde hair is used to make a timeline and also used for manipulation. This exact scene happened after the five-year time jump in the movie, therefore her hair was red and not 'Infinity War' blonde by that time. 7. Cap's Shield Captain America's shield is literally the most reliable and constant thing throughout the entire MCU and it's almost indestructible. But, it was time for Cap to get a new, improved weapon so the shield's gotta go. In the movie, when he's strapping on the shield to his arm, it's almost completely broken, thanks to the grape I mentioned before, so that crucial information sure as hell couldn't be revealed in the trailer. Also, is it just me or does this gif has 'I can do this all day' energy? 8. Cap's Giddy Optimism 'I missed that giddy optimism' - turns out Cap and Tony weren't all hugs and smiles when Tony actually said this line. In the trailer, it seems like he said this to Cap as a joke right at this point, but obviously, it came at a different time in the movie. Tony said this to Cap at his house, not the Avengers compound and plus, it wasn't a friendly comment but rather a taunt. 9. Captain Marvel's Helmet I really don't think anyone cares about this one, but in this scene, she wasn't wearing her helmet. I'm pretty sure the edit here is just to not reveal her new hairstyle, which again no one cares that much about. But hey, it got us a funny quip from Rocket so it's all good.
  24. It's been 10 years since 'Game Of Thrones' has been building up to the battle with the 'White Walkers' from the very first episode of the series. It's been 8 seasons now and we finally got to see the battle everybody had been waiting for. 'The Long Night', aired yesterday and even though it was a directorial marvel for a TV show, it was lacking in almost every way. Many fans of the show were left disappointed simply because logic and story arcs didn't add up. If you haven't watched the episode, this post contains spoilers, so avoid reading further. Currently, the third episode of Season 8 sits at 74% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the third lowest rated episode in the show's history. Here's why we feel the 'Battle of Winterfell' was disappointing. There are plenty of plot-holes and some scenes defy logic based on what was set up in the very same episode. Here's our deep analysis: 1. The Night King's Death © HBO If you've seen the episode, you already know that Arya kills the Night King with her Valyrian “CatsPaw” dagger. Just to make it clear, Arya killing the Night King was a true badass moment and is a great example of women empowerment in movies and TV shows. In fact, many other franchises could learn a thing or two from this particular episode. Our problem has nothing to do with who killed the Night King, its to do with how Arya got there in the first place. Just a few minutes ago, Arya was involved in a stealth scene hiding from Wights by hiding behind bookshelves and under a table. In the scene, the wights could hear her blood drops hitting the floor and could find the source of the sound. A few scenes later, are you trying to tell us that a horde of silent wights and white walkers could not detect Arya jumping 30 feet to kill the nightwalker? They could not hear Arya sneaking around in the bushes or the snow? Considering that a few moments ago they could hear blood drops but not her sneaking around in the middle of all the White Walkers? You could say that she's been trained by the “Faceless Man” and may have acquired some mind-blowing stealth tricks, but the scene prior to that totally negates her abilities. 2. This Is 'Game Of Thrones', Not a Disney Movie © HBO The one thing that made 'Game Of Thrones' special was its ability to be bold, daring and risky when it came to killing off characters. The show has unexpected moments where it doesn't fear killing off key characters in the most brutal manner. That's what sets 'GOT' apart from other fantasy franchises. In 'The Long Night', possibly the biggest and most brutal battle in the show's history, almost every named character survives. From 60,000 souls defending Winterfell, only Jorah Mormont, Berric Dondorrian, Lyanna Mormont, Edd and Melisandre died? Are you kidding me? (c) HBO If there were at least double the deaths, this would classify as a classic 'GOT' episode. However, HBO opted to play safe and made sure almost all the main characters survive. This isn't a Disney movie, this is 'Game Of Thrones'. What defies logic is that Jorah Mormont, a skilled knight who defended himself from every Wight that came his way till the very end; died, but someone like Sam Tarly who was literally flat on his butt for the entirety of the episode survived? What were the show-runners smoking? Where is the logic? Where are the loremasters when you need them? Is this a result of simply rushing the TV show and playing it safe at the same time? © HBO We all know White Walkers have taken inspiration from just about every Zombie movie, TV show and book possible. We were expecting some of our favourite characters turn into a wight; which never happened. We expected one of the characters witnessing their loved one die and convert right in front of them and having to kill them. It would have been a very emotional moment but we never got to see that. It's the simplest trope you get to see in every Zombie movie but HBO never ventured that far. 3. There Was No Tactical Strategy © HBO In the history of warfare, when you are defending a siege, you do not break the line and send out the cavalry to sacrifice themselves in the battlefield. It seems like HBO probably did not use any warfare advisors for this episode as it's simply not logical to send out the cavalry to test your opponents. It's suicide and we got to see the very same thing happen in this episode. In 'The Long Night', the Dothraki were ordered to charge at the incoming onslaught. This move is called 'Custer' but generally ends up in major losses. 'GOT' could have taken a cue from other movies that have dealt with similar scenarios. For example, movies like 'Braveheart', 'LOTR', 'Kingdom of Heaven', and countless others all have similar scenarios where they defend a position and these movies depicted battles as accurately as possible. Hell, even in the 'Battle of Bastards' it was pointed out that charging at an enemy that outnumbers you is suicide. Seriously, I'm done. 4. There Was Nothing Long About This Night A TV series that has literally spent an entire season to kill major characters ended the most anticipated battle in just 82 minutes? I mean if 'The Long Night' is depicted in just 82 minutes then we need to re-define what 'long' really means. This was a battle that has been anticipated from the very first episode of the show and all we got was a disappointing end to the battle. HBO should have spent more time to depict one of the most epic battles in the show's history and not concluded the battle in just one episode. We wanted to see some epic fights, some emotional scenes and some shocking moments. We got to see none of that and many fans simply reacted to the episode with “meh.” 5. We Couldn't See A Thing #GameofThrones s8e3 spoiler without context pic.twitter.com/lw3ipGS4Zi — 9GAG (@9GAG) April 29, 2019 In the post-episode interview, the show-runners said that they wanted a realistic feel to the episode where everything was dark. What baffles me is that there's literally nothing real about 'GOT'. It's a fantasy fiction show where we deal with dragons, zombies, incest and whatever else you can think of. We wanted to see an epic battle depicting one of the most defining moments of TV history. There was no need for keeping the entire environment dark when you could simply represent it in many other ways. 'LOTR' did it in the "battle of Gondor", 'Avengers: Endgame' did it effectively in their final battle; then what was the need for keeping everything dark? A Redditor claims that HBO simply used this tactic to hide special effects. In fact, this episode probably didn't have enough extras to show off a horde of 100,000 wights. I mean why wouldn't you show off one of the greatest armies assembled in the history of TV? Why would you hide a majority of your special effects unless something is really wrong? Unless someone forgot to bring a lighting rig, I can't think of any other excuse for this goof up.
  25. Marvel really just wants to kick us harder when we're down, don't they? We lost so many, so freaking many people in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and that might not be permanent, but everyone's like 99 per cent sure that we will lose a lot of OG Avengers in 'Avengers: Endgame' so obviously, fans are already emotional. How do you make everyone feel better? Remind them of all the lost characters while promoting the movie, apparently. During a press conference in LA recently, the entire cast assembled to talk about the movie but there were a lot of empty chairs for the 'fallen'. Yes, we can also look at it from a different perspective because it's a nice way to show every character matters, but it gave everyone too many feels. Here are your Avengers, with plenty of empty chairs meant for their fallen comrades pic.twitter.com/5sdyFw5JKv — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 Very hurted. Do they left the seats empty of everyone who turned into dust. That hurt!#AvengersEndgame #Avengers #AvengersPressTour pic.twitter.com/3YgRFPVcjK — Varun Popat (@popat_varun) April 8, 2019 Along with this, there's so much more that happened at the conference, but the most important thing was still the vote on Chris Evans' beard. What a fun springtime you're having.” pic.twitter.com/pm2CEdqAzz — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 That seems stressful. Anthony Russo: “One of our favorite story adages is to write yourself into a corner... we've tried to do that with the ending of every Marvel movie we've done.” — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 A clear act of aggression. Chris Hemsworth is discussing how he watched the first IRON MAN “straight out of high school,” which I consider an aggression pic.twitter.com/b2Nza3NNZv — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 Good save. Chris Evans is talking about “the completion” of Captain America's arc in a way that immediately set off audible spoiler alarms from the other people on stage. “Let's just talk about SCOTT PILGRIM instead,” said Jon Favreau. pic.twitter.com/RADan09KMZ — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 It's a good thing. “This character started as a sexy secretary with a skill set on the side,” says ScarJo of Black Widow. “The next time we saw her in AVENGERS, she was one of the boys, for better or worse.” ScarJo says BW has grown as the MCU became more diverse and not just “a testosterone fest” — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 So many people. “It's like having the Beatles say, come jam with us for a while,” says Paul Rudd of becoming a core Avenger. “It's so surreal and profound to be a part of it... and it's incredible to meet so many kids whose lives are affected by these characters.” — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 I didn't know that. Brie Larson: “I came in at the most magical time, I think.” Her introduction to the other Marvel heroes was at the studio's 10-year photo. “This film will also be personally dear to me because it was my first time playing Captain Marvel. We shot this first.” — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 Okay, wow. Mark Ruffalo says this press conference is bittersweet for him. “We're all talking like we're dead,” he said. Are the Avengers actors so mobbed by children that they need extra security? “I don't mind punching a kid,” snarks Chris Evans — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 Thanks for that, RDJ. RDJ is asked about his scene with Spidey turning to dust: “I love the lighting in that scene. I look so shredded.” — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 7, 2019 A very Brie thing.
