  2. Virat Kohli remains one of the most happening players in the Indian cricket team who has gone through a heap of ups and downs throughout his career and there is little to no doubt that when he retires, film producers will be standing in a long line just to discuss a potential biopic with him. Kohli’s cricketing journey has gone through a lot both on and off the field. He was in the middle of the Indian technological revolution when Indian cricket fans found a way to express their emotions on social media platforms like Twitter. While that had its perks, it also came with a lot of toxicity and with the polarising personality that Kohli has, he had some good and bad days. View this post on Instagram Every aspect of Kohli’s life has been analysed and overanalysed. From his marriage to one of the top Bollywood actresses to his party-boy phase during the early years of his international career, the man feels like an open book. His journey from an alcohol-consuming, butter-chicken-guzzling lad to the youth and fitness icon of the country, who made some drastic changes to the fitness levels within Team India, is commendable. Then there are also the controversies that surround him on the field and within the Indian cricket board. For instance, the very-public disparity that was shared between Kohli and his former head coach Anil Kumble which led to the latter stepping down from his position but not before throwing Kohli under the bus, or one of the more recent developments that took place when Kohli contradicted BCCI President Sourav Ganguly’s comments about showing concern towards him quitting as the T20I skipper. Lately, however, one of the biggest talking points about Kohli’s career is the great drought that the former skipper has been going through ever since November 2019 during which he has not been able to score even a single century in any of the three formats of the game. If ever a film is made on Virat Kohli, what should be the title of it? pic.twitter.com/qytker0DOU — Virat Kohli Fan Club (@Trend_VKohli) March 29, 2022 So it was only a matter of time before Kohli’s fans started discussing the potential name for his biopic and while there were a couple of trolls here and there, most were on point with their suggestions. 3. Indian Test cricket veterans Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have been under fire for a really long time for not being able to perform consistently and still being given a lot of chances to improve themselves despite some extremely talented players waiting for their turn to break through the red-ball team. The situation reached boiling point during the first inning of the second Test between India and South Africa at the Wanderers cricket ground when Pujara and Rahane got out at 3 and 0 respectively. View this post on Instagram Some of the biggest names of the Indian cricket fraternity, including the former captain of the Indian cricket team, Sunil Gavaskar and wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik had criticised the two players and had said that their time with the team may have come to an end. They had also spoken about how players like Shreyas Iyer, who are a lot younger and much in-tune with their batting abilities at the moment, deserve a spot in the team, probably even more than the two of them. And then came the second inning of the second Test which gave the two players enough ammunition to talk back at the critics. Both Pujara and Rahane managed to make half-centuries and were two of the highest scorers and even set the record for India's fastest-ever century partnership in South Africa, on their way to building a low-scoring total of 266 runs. View this post on Instagram At the end of the Day 3 of the match, Pujara said that he was looking forward to opportunities to score while not having to force anything. He added that the pitch had variable bounce and there has made it difficult for batters on either side to stick to the wicket. "Whenever you get a loose ball you want to make sure that you put it away. You never know when you will get an unplayable ball. So yes, it was part of my game plan that if I get a loose ball I will try and convert it, but I didn't do anything extra,” he said. View this post on Instagram Addressing the criticism that Rahane and he had been facing over the past few days, Pujara said that the team internally and the coaching staff were extremely supportive during the slump and that whatever negativity was coming their way, it was simply “outside noise”. “There are times when you don't get too many runs, but the important thing as a cricketer is following the right routine, having good work ethics, and keep working on your game, because there are times when you will not get runs, but if you follow the right processes, you get runs on the board,” he added. Many fans of the game felt that Pujara started using his Test captain Virat Kohli’s exact words to deal with criticism, even if all of it was well-deserved: but how many yrs not performing nd suddenly one half century nd playing next matches same formula — Rajesh (@kannar852) January 6, 2022As responsible senior pro Pujara will have to define the meaning out side noise VK coined this word now it's Pujara any constructive criticism based on facts by Media fans is reckoned as outside noise. This attitude to criticism will ruin cricket VK Pujji are creation of Fan media — Venkatraman sreedharan (@Venkatramansre2) January 6, 2022Attitude bc — Mukul Bansal (@mukku_here) January 6, 2022You and the test captain are in the same boat averaging 25 — ᏞᎧᏦI (@_Ro_45_) January 5, 2022All say same things Outside noise, supportive, belief, process. — Cric Lover (@CricketFan444) January 5, 2022Yes all fans are outside noise these two keep on playing with low scores year after year...seems like it is personal team, see the attitude after scoring a 53..still he did decent in england wht about rahane, given so many chances , 40 runs of him hailed as 100..bad for cricket — Rajdeep Ghosh (@rajdeep_ghosh) January 5, 2022 View the full article
  4. It has been over two years since the time the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli had scored his most recent century back when Bangladesh toured India and the first pink-ball Test was played in the subcontinent in November 2019. Since then, the batter, who remains one of the elite ones in terms of potential and technique, has failed to convert all those experiences and finesses into three-digit scores for himself. To make matters worse, during the ongoing Test series between India and South Africa, Kohli’s has gotten dismissed at 35 and 18 runs in the first and second innings respectively, thereby making very little impact on the game as an individual. View this post on Instagram For the second consecutive time in the series, Kohli got dismissed in the same fashion. By giving up an edged ball right into the hands of one of the men standing behind the stumps. Considering the fact that it was the first ball Kohli played after returning from the lunch break, the shot selection of the batter was put in question by a lot of people, including the former Indian skipper, Sunil Gavaskar. Trying to get inside Kohli’s head, Gavaskar said that the way the current captain moved his bat, it felt as it if was a “loose shot” and going for it was arguably a bad decision, especially because it was the first delivery of the second session of the day and the common approach is for the batters to defend a few balls, give themselves enough time and settle in for a long inning. View this post on Instagram Reiterating the fact that Kohli remains one of the most experienced players of Test cricket not just in his team but also all around the world, Gavaskar sounded puzzled thinking about whatever was going inside the mind of the 33-year old. The ‘Little Master’ speculated that maybe Kohli was in a rush to put up a big score on the board as soon as possible before declaring their innings and allowing themselves a better shot at gaining a 1-0 lead in the series with a day and a half to spare. This analysis makes sense as out of the 18 runs that Kohli scored in the second inning, 16 of them came from boundaries and the cricketer did look in a hurry to make runs. View this post on Instagram Nonetheless, Team India still look to be in control of the match as they managed to dismiss South Africa’s four batters by the time gameplay ended on the penultimate day of the match. Ahead of Day 5, Team India is leading by 210 runs. View the full article

  7. Battlegrounds Mobile India is finally available for users who pre-registered for the game after months of anticipation. The game is available for Beta testers at the moment until the full rollout of the game later this month. The PUBG alternative looks and feels more or less the same as the previous game however there are some changes that players may want to know about. © Krafton Firstly, the game is still not available to everyone which means only a few selected Beta testers will get access to the game. The game has been adopted and gone through some changes that are very similar to the Chinese version of the popular Battle Royale game. For starters, the blood in the game is now green and that has been changed probably because the Indian Government deemed it to be a violent game. There are also four maps users can download at the moment called Livik, Miramar, Sanhok and Karakin. These maps aren’t any different from the maps you may have seen in the previous game. Players will also be able to transfer their old data and progress from PUBG Mobile until December 31st 2021. © Twitter/Shivam Bhardwak In addition to the classic Battle Royale mode, players can now also play in Arcade, Arena and EvoGround modes. Apart from the new modes, the game looks identical in build to PUBG Mobile, however, oddly enough the game does not make any reference to the previous game. While only game testers who pre-registered for the game can access the install file right now, it seems like it will be available to everyone on June 18th on the Play Store. Battlegrounds Mobile India has currently launched without any scrutiny from the Indian government at the moment as the Centre has no power to ban the game before it launches on the Play Store. Having said that, the Centre will keep a close eye on the game once it launches for privacy and national security concerns. © Unsplash/screen-post Battlegrounds Mobile India is currently the biggest game release in the country where over 20 million gamers pre-registered for the game. It will be interesting to see how Krafton handles the Indian Government after launch since many politicians are already calling for a ban on the game. View the full article
  8. There are some really weird and fun jobs in the world that you wouldn't know about. And when you do get to know, you’d either want to quit or be thankful for your job. These include beer tasters, professional sleeper and pet food tasters. Not many people are aware of these cool/not so cool jobs. As it turns out, a ‘condom tester’ is another high paying job and Rakul Preet Singh is playing one in her next film. © Instagram/iStock In a country where there is a lot of stigma attached to ***, even uttering the word 'condom' invites gasps and weird looks. To break the taboo and normalise the conversation around it, Tejas Deoskar, the director of the yet-to-be-named film, has roped in Rakul to play a condom tester and aims to educate the audience about the use and importance of protection with his comedy. © Instagram/Rakul Preet Singh He told a publication, “Our film is a social family entertainer, which aims at destigmatising the use of condoms and for this one, I always believed Rakul was the best suited for the character. She brings freshness to every role that she portrays and with a sensitive, thought-provoking subject like this, she was our first choice. Rakul was thrilled when she was approached for the film. She heard the narration and immediately agreed to do it.” © Instagram/Rakul Preet Singh We looked it up. It is a legit job that pays up to Rs 21 lakhs per year! Condom companies like Durex hire people above 18 years of age as their quality control executive to test the safety, durability and performance of the product. As they say, do what you enjoy and enjoy what you do! © Instagram/iStock The makers of the film reportedly reached out to Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday for the role but both turned it down as they felt it was a rather ‘bold’ subject. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies, the film might be called Chhatriwaali, and will have an OTT release. Talking about the role, Rakul told an entertainment portal, “It's very exciting and I am very thrilled about that film because it's important to sort of highlight some issues in a light-hearted way and that has got me pretty excited. But for now, that will happen towards the end of the year.” © Instagram/Rakul Preet Singh Are you excited about the movie? View the full article

  11. We’ve got smartphones, smartwatches, fitness bands, smart lights and now it looks like smart clothes are going to be the next thing. Apple is apparently working on a ‘smart fabric’ that can be sewn on anything you wear. In a way, these would be connected garments similar to connected smart devices we now use with our smartphones every day. © Apple This is not the first time we’ve seen smart clothes as Google partnered with Levis to create a smart jacket not so long ago. It could be used to control the smartphone, measure heartbeat and breathing. The smart fabric can be used in anything from shirts, caps, jackets to jeans. © Apple However, the smart fabric by Apple is just a patent at this stage which was spotted by PatentlyApple. However, the smart fabric wouldn't make its way to the mainstream anytime soon since we haven't even heard of any prototypes Apple has been working on yet. The patent does show smart fabric buttons that could house sensors and circuitry which can detect ambient light, temperature, air gesture controls and optical features. There could also be a possibility that Apple might use its LiDAR sensor from the iPhone 12 Pro for augmented reality capabilities. © PatentlyApple This is not the first time Apple has dabbled with smart textiles as there have been other patents filed where it focused on smart sportswear, sleep-tracking blanket and an advanced fabric weaving machine. It sure sounds like Apple is thinking far into the future, however Levis and Google have already shown that it can be made today. This goes on to show how wearables will evolve in the future and how we could see some other whacky ideas take form in the next decade. Apple was the first company to be able to make smartwatches mainstream and we wouldn’t be surprised if the company manages to pull that off with smart clothes as well. It’s exciting to see what Apple comes up with within the next few years especially since the Cupertino giant is rumoured to be working on smart glasses as well. It would be great if Apple could integrate everything we know from the patents so far with an interface that can be viewed and interacted with on the Apple Glasses.
