  1. Since Sunday, there are primarily two things that Indians are talking about - first, how India defeated Pakistan by 89 runs, in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup, and second, Ranveer Singh. From giving major fashion goals, trying his hands at commentary to clicking pictures with Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Hardik Pandya, K L Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan, Ranveer made sure that he makes the most out of his England trip. While both Indian and Pakistani cricket fans were busy trolling the Pakistan Cricket team for their disappointing performance in England, there was one fan who was left disheartened by this loss. Ranveer consoled him and that video is now going viral on social media. Ranveer, in the video, hugs the fan and tells him, "There is always a next time. Directed by Kabir Khan, the movie is expected to release in 2020.
  2. The wonderful and magical power that parents possess, lies in their selfless love and their acceptance of us, the way we are. A good parent is not someone who just splurges on you, but is someone who lets you believe that they are not judgemental of the primitive choices you make in your life. Howie Dittman, a 44-year-old man living in Pittsburgh is also a parent, but last week, he ended up being the internet's favourite dad. When Howie found out about a pride parade in Pittsburgh and saw his friend volunteering to give 'mom hugs', he decided to do something similar and participated in the parade, offering 'dad hugs' to the kids who were rejected by their own families. He shared his experience and how impactful a small gesture can be. "Imagine that, parents. Imagine that your child feels SO LOST FROM YOU that they sink into the arms of a complete stranger and sob endlessly just because that stranger is wearing a shirt offering hugs from a dad," he wrote. These pictures of Mr Dittman went viral and its been touching and melting very heart on the internet since then. would be remiss if i did not give a shout out to the huge pflag dad marching in the denver pride parade wearing a FREE DAD HUGS shirt, who joyfully gave me my first big, encompassing, father's day dad hug in five entire years — casey mcquiston â¤ï¸ð ON TOUR! Kindness and love cost you nothing because the best things in the world are not actually bought! Love comes in every shade and as humans, judging anyone, especially the people we love, for who they decide to love is unfair. This dad is 'dad goals' in the truest sense.
  3. When most eyes were glued to the convoy of celebrities and other prominent personalities attenting PM Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony, there was one man who ditched the car and chose to ride his bicycle to the Rashtrapati Bhawan. © Twitter The man we're talking about is the 47-year-old Mansukh Lal Mandaviya, the former minister of State in charge of Road Transport, Highways, Shipping, Chemicals and Fertilisers. Mandaviya, who is a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat, was sworn in as a union minister in the new cabinet for the second time. © Twitter Apparently, riding a bicycle to Parliament is an unfamiliar sight for people around Mandaviya. In the past five years too, he has always cycled his way to the Parliament and calls it his "passion, not fashion." Reportedly, Mandaviya said "For me it is not a fashion to go on a bicycle, it is my passion. I had always gone to the Parliament on a bicycle." And @mansukhmandviya entered the Rashtrapati Bhawan riding a bicycle. Took oath into PM @narendramodi Government. pic.twitter.com/NqmLEypJOR — Aditya Raj Kaul (@AdityaRajKaul) May 30, 2019 He further said, "It is eco-friendly, it saves fuel and keeps you physically healthy." People are super impressed with Mandaviya's eco-friendly ways. 4. Many of us have a number of 'hidden' talents that do not make their way into the outside world for others to see because of a number of reasons. Either we are too shy, or not too confident or too self-critical to even consider it as a talent that can be let out in public. Well it seems that a Karnataka cop called Chandrakant Hutgi, who is a head constable at the Hubli rural police station, is one such person. He has been named as the 'Pied Piper of the Police Department' after he transformed his lathi into a flute and played such melodious tunes, that IPS officer stationed there was inspired to post the video of Hutgi in action online. Chandrakant Hutgi, Head Constable from Hubli Rural Police station has converted his Deadly Fiber Lathi into a Musical Instrument... we are proud of him... pic.twitter.com/gyZWhk1lkb — Bhaskar Rao IPS (@deepolice12) May 28, 2019 IPS officer Bhaskar Rao invited Hutgi to Bangalore and even awarded him with a special cash award. “Rao called me to Bengaluru on Monday with the musical lathi to play for him in his office after he heard from his colleagues that I converted it into a flute. He also rewarded me,” Hutgi told IANS. © Twitter The video has since gained a lot of momentum online and people are thoroughly impressed with head constable Hutgi's talent. As for the man himself, he calls this his hobby. By using simple tools Hutgi made eight holes on his lathi and turned it into a flute on which he loves to play Kannada film songs while he isn't busy working. No wonder he has impressed so many people who cannot stop praising him for his show of unique talent. What innovation we say!
  5. They say travelling broadens our horizons, and exploration is the most honest teacher in town. We wouldn't question that simply because we have personally witnessed, on multiple occasions, how exposure to new landscapes and cultures can transform people for good. We end up admiring the person they become, and whether we admit it or not, we wish to become like them in a lot of ways. Why? Because that kind of goodness never goes out of fashion, and here's proof. It had been just another family vacation for 19-year-old Malhar Kalambe, who was visiting Bali during the summer of 2017. The pristine beaches and clear water surrounding the Indonesian island left Malhar mesmerised until the bigger realities back home in Mumbai shattered Malhar's bubble. © Malhar Kalambe The beaches in Mumbai lay in a wretched state, and the disillusionment from this bigger ground reality hit him hard. He almost blamed the government and municipality, like most of us, and gave up on the situation. However, the damage had already been done, and Malhar simply couldn't move on from what he had witnessed. The Epiphany © Malhar Kalambe It was one such day, when he was sitting with his mother and discussing the sad state of Indian beaches, and wondering why it is so. “I was discussing the state of affairs with my mother and believed that perhaps it's because of the BMC and the government were not doing their job. That's when my mother suggested that if you feel so strongly about this, instead of complaining about it, do something about it. Clean the beach,” Malhar told MensXP. Malhar took up his mother's advice and decided to do something that would make a difference. That's how the Dadar beach clean-up came into existence. Malhar reached out to some of his school friends and together, they set to work. The Start Of A Bigger Movement - 'Beach Please' © Malhar Kalambe Malhar recalls the first time he headed to the beach for a clean-up, “The first time we went to the Dadar beach, we didn't even know that clean-ups should be taken up on the days of low tide. We got together one Sunday and headed to the beach. But due to the high tide, we couldn't do much. So we came back the following weekend and loved the results. That's when we decided to do this for the long haul. Over the next few it became a continuous process and soon turned into a movement.” That's how 'Beach Please' came into existence. The Journey Hasn't Been Easy © Malhar Kalambe Malhar admits that it's been a roller coaster journey. It wasn't easy for the then 19-year-old to convince the people or the BMC officials about the cleanup drive. It took him months to convince them and to be taken seriously by them. The next challenge was to manage the finances required to take the initiative forward. Since Malhar and most of his volunteers are students, and with no funds to back this initiative, all of them pool in their pocket money and arrange all the required props for the clean-up. © Malhar Kalambe Some days, they have over a thousand volunteers, while on other days it's not even a handful. Yet, regardless of the number of volunteers, their personal and academic commitments, Malhar and his friends made the decision to show up for the cleanup every weekend. No excuses. “It's been 88 weeks since we started, and we have never skipped a single weekend,” a proud Malhar shares. Up Next © Malhar Kalambe The Dadar clean-up turned out to be a huge success and caught the attention of lots of people. Over the last 88 weeks, 20000 odd people have been associated with the cause and 'Beach Please' has removed over 1000 tons of waste so far. But Malhar didn't just stop there. He decided to move to the very source where all this waste is collected. Mithi River in Mumbai, one of India's most polluted rivers, was next on his to-do list. © Malhar Kalambe However, it wasn't easy convincing his team to clean up the river, “It took me 3-4 months to convince the team. The reason being, 70% of the river bank is covered with small scale industries which directly dump their waste into the river. So here it wasn't just about plastic waste but included medical waste and chemical waste too. Open defecation in the area also posed as a major problem. But eventually, we took it up and started the Mithi river clean-up in November last year.” The Big Moment For Malhar & 'Beach Please' © Malhar Kalambe 'Beach Please' became Malhar's passion, as his love for the environment found a physical manifestation with it. A B.Com graduate and CA aspirant, Malhar's efforts earned one of the biggest recognitions in the country through UN India's V Award for change makers. “It was the first ever award I have won, and it was huge. You can only imagine how great that felt.” Malhar's parting words are most insightful. He says, “Awareness and lack of civic sense is our biggest flaw as a society. We keep blaming others/government. Whereas we also have to perform their own civic duties and pressurise the authorities to take ownership. Public participation is key, paying taxes is not enough, people have to step out and get their hands dirty if they wish to see a significant change. © Malhar Kalambe As for that one thing that each one of us can do to make our environment cleaner and better, he says, “Segregation waste at the source will solve 50-60% of the problem. Segregating the waste at home is the basic thing each one of us can take up at a personal level.” 21-year-old Malhar has come a long way and made “tonnes” of difference to the world. More power to you Malhar.
  6. It has been more than a day-and-a-half since Lasith Malinga delivered that extra slow ball as the final delivery of the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League, which not only provided the Sri Lankan with the most important wicket of the league but also his team their fourth title, making them the most successful IPL franchise in history. Sure, social media hailed the unorthodox pacer as the saviour of Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians and yes we had a good laugh with whatever MI owner Nita Ambani was chanting during the final stages of the match, but there was one person whose heroics went unnoticed amongst all the noise. When Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings failed to come up with a steady batsman on the crease, former member of the Australian cricket team and one of the most celebrated cricketers in the history of the IPL, opener Shane Watson remained the unshaken cog of whatever competition CSK were able to give MI. © IPL - Twitter Even though the Aussie did not have the most consistent season this year, Watson returned to his old self, as the man who helped the 'Whistle Podu' team win the championship exactly one year ago. Scoring 80 off just 59 balls, Watson almost won Chennai their fourth title, single-handedly had it not been for that failed attempt to score an extra single that got the all-rounder run out. What makes his efforts a lot more impressive is that Watson played a good portion of his innings with an extensively bruised and bloodied left knee. After losing the final, CSK's veteran spinner, Harbhajan Singh put up an Instagram story talking about Watson's injury: © Instagram - Harbhajan Singh “Can you guys see the blood on his knee... He got 6 stitches after the game...Got injured while diving but continued to bat without telling anyone,” wrote the 38-year-old athlete. The Super Kings consist of the oldest cricketers of the league on an average and despite the fact that in the past two years, they have won one title and reached the final once again, which, if you ask us, sounds like a great team but replacing older players like Watson, Singh and MS Dhoni is inevitable.
  7. After a nail-biting match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the IPL 2019 came to an end with Rohit Sharma's team lifting the coveted trophy for a record fourth time. That last-ball thriller was literally everything. © Twitter While Mumbai Indians fans are dancing with joy and celebrating this victory, others are busy debating whether the team members had anything to do with the victory. I know it sounds lame, but these tweets have people convinced that it's not Rohit Sharma or Hardik Pandya or Jasprit Bumrah, it's actually Mumbai Indians' owner Nita Ambani whose prayers made the team clinch the IPL 2019 trophy. © Twitter In case you missed it, a 'tensed' and praying Nita Ambani has now caught people's attention and has been doing rounds on social media, since last night. Nita Ambani was spotted praying in the later half of the match, especially in the last over and now that her team won, people want to know what 'mantra' she was chanting. 8. Yes, indeed, this happened. First things first, I have immense respect for the courage and the kind of boldness miss Sawant showcases when it comes to voicing some very strong opinions of hers. She gives two hoots about what one might think of her politically correct side because there isn't any and she speaks whatever is on her mind. So the much coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Foundation commended her with 'best item dancer' award in Bollywood but everyone is finding it hard to believe. We are not questioning her capacity to win an award but the title of the award itself. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rakhi Sawant (@rakhisawant2511) on May 11, 2019 at 11:52am PDT Rakhi has performed on over 100 dance songs in her career and feels happy for winning this recognition. Hamari itni aukaat nai hai award ko purchase karein. The jury and the federation realised that Rakhi Sawant hasn't received an award since 12 years so I am very thankful to them. It gives us motivation when an artist is honored with an award. It makes us work harder.” Now sure Rakhi deserves an award but don't you think an 'item dancer' award is the wrong representation of her worth?
  9. 'God of War' was one phenomenal game and it became one of our all-time favourites for various reasons. We reviewed the game when it released, and ever since then GoW has been winning major awards for 'Game of the Year'. Having said that, one of the most reputed academies, that is, 'The British Academy Games Awards' also awarded the game of the same time along with five other wins for the game. It managed to beat 'Red Dead Redemption II' which is not a small feat as Rockstar's game also got high acclaim. © Sony Santa Mocia The game won awards for the best Narrative, Audio Achievement, Performer (Jeremy Davies as The Strang) and Music. Other games like “Return Of The Obra Dinn” also won awards for Best Game Design and Artistic Achievement. Nintendo Labo won awards for best game innovations and Family game. Forza Horizon 4 won the award for best British Game, while flawed but interesting co-op game whereas A Way Out won the multiplayer award. © Sony Santa Mocia 'God of War' is a visual masterpiece paired with some awesome music score to give the player a complete cinematic experience. Visually, the game looks beautiful on PlayStation 4 Pro and is probably one of the best looking games we've played this generation. The narrative felt compelling and enjoyable for the majority of the time and has managed to incorporate an addictive and satisfying combat system. God of War is an excellent action-adventure game that incorporates a great cinematic experience every God of War fan should experience.
  10. Yesterday, a little boy from Mizoram went viral for his simple act of kindness. In case you didn't know, the boy was cycling when he accidentally ran over his neighbour's chicken. He was so scared for the injured chicken that he rushed it to the nearest hospital and asked for help with whatever money he had. His simple act of kindness may not be something extraordinary, but the little kid is definitely a hero in his own right and his actions have taught us adults a huge lesson on humanity. The kid has been identified as 6-year-old Derek C Lalchhanhima from Sairang. In fact, Derek is now his school's hero too and was recently rewarded for his sweet gesture. Here's Derek proudly holding his 'Word of Appreciation' certificate, which he received at his School St. Pio, Sairang today. Reportedly, Derek came home with the chick that he had accidentally killed and did not understand that the chick is dead. He begged his parents, but when his parents told him to go himself, he did exactly that with whatever money he had i.e. Rs 10. The nurse couldn't stop from gushing over the little kid's innocence. Derek's innocent gesture has won everyone's heart and we hope more and more people can learn from this cute little 6-year-old.
  11. It was a night full of drama at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur during the fourth game of the Indian Premier League in its twelfth season. While we got to see some brilliant shots being played and powerful innings being carried out by Chris Gayle and Jos Buttler, there was that one instance that sucked all the charm right out of the game. After the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) were able to put forward a more than respectable score of 184-run total in 20 overs behind Chris 'Universe Boss' Gayle's thunderous 79-run innings, it was up to Ajinkya Rahane's Rajasthan Royals (RR) to make the run-chase happen successfully, otherwise this will be Punjab's first victory in Rajasthan ever, in the history of the league. Kinni tareefan kare tuhaddi, Gayle paaji ð Describe @henrygayle's innings with one emoji!#SaddaPunjab #KXIP #RRvKXIP #VIVOIPL pic.twitter.com/CorltLx6AV — Kings XI Punjab (@lionsdenkxip) March 25, 2019 From the get-go, Rahane and Co. looked determined to keep things the way they were with no intention of letting Punjab get a one up early in the tournament. With the skipper returning to the dressing room after scoring just 27 runs, it was the second opener and English cricketer Jos Buttler who took the command and thrashed anyone and everyone who came his way, while scoring 69 in just 43 deliveries which included 10 4s and two 6s. And just like that, it's 5ï¸â£0ï¸â£ off 29 balls for @josbuttler You 'Jos' can't take your eyes off this man! ð#HallaBol #RRvKXIP #RR pic.twitter.com/hlgEwye8EE — Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) March 25, 2019 With loss in sight for KXIP, they looked desperate to get Buttler's wicket. They tried spinners, pacers and bowled a couple of googlies as well but the Englishman remained unfazed. This is when R. Ashwin decided to do the unthinkable. In the 13th over, when Buttler was standing in the non-striker's end and was out of the crease (which all runners tend to do in order to complete the run more quickly), Ashwin went half-way into his bowling routine, stopped in the middle, turned around and knocked the bails right off the wickets right next to him. Spirit of cricket thrown out of cricket, Some1 just tell @ashwinravi99 is not playing in streets but an International game @ICC must abolish Mankad rule. If u want to get @josbuttler Out then get him "OUT". Don't use silly ways to get rid of Best player @awais_hameed #Ashwin pic.twitter.com/kgdubqBhMG — Naveed Qaiser Rana (@journalist4871) March 25, 2019 This move is infamously known as 'mankading' based on the name of one of the most controversial bowlers in the history of Indian cricket, Vinoo Mankad, who started out this unholy, unsportsmanlike practice all the way back in 1947 when he dismissed Aussie batter Bill Brown twice (once in a practice session and then again in a Test match). Anyhow, Ashwin's appeal after 'mankading' Buttler led the umpire to take the decision upstairs where the third umpire gave a decision in favour of the bowler and asked Buttler to leave the pitch. Make no mistake, 'mankading' is not an illegal move. A bowler is well within his rights to get the non-striker run-out anytime he is found to be outside of the crease. Law 41.16 a batsmen at non strikers end should not leave his ground UNTIL the bowler has released the ball! SO OUT! Lesson.. batsmen watch the bowlers release the ball! #easy #SelectDugout — Dean Jones (@ProfDeano) March 25, 2019 “No real argument on that and it was pretty instinctive. I didn't even load and he just left the crease. We ended on the right side of the coin, but I definitely think that those are game-changing moments and batsmen need to be wary of it,” Ashwin told Harsha Bhogle in the award distribution ceremony after the game. Even though the official books of cricketing rules don't deem 'mankading' as illegal, it has been frowned upon ever since Mankad carried out this practice for the very first time. It makes the bowling side look weak, desperate and it most certainly does not help them look like the gentlemen of the game. Ravichandran Ashwin has been out of action for the Indian cricket team for quite some time now and the fact that he can resort to something this grave, especially in the golden era of Indian cricket in which stars like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are making their country proud, says a thousand words about his spirit as a sportsman. Clearly, the millions of fans of the true nature of cricket did not like the taste of Ashwin's desperate attempt to win the game, left in their mouth: Harsha you are missing the point completely & I'm disappointed in you as you always push the spirit of the game - now you condone this behaviour ? Ashwin's actions were simply disgraceful, and I hope the BCCI doesn't condone this sort of behaviour in the #IPL ! #spiritofthegame https://t.co/BsIKDBN51X — Shane Warne (@ShaneWarne) March 25, 2019 I would say to all India ex players/Pundits who are supportive of what R Ashwin did ... 12. Vicky Kaushal is making headlines every day and for good reason. Delivering great movies one after the other, he's no more the boy next door. He has arrived. From supporting roles to carrying his own films flawlessly, the actor has really evolved. © Instagram/amandeepkaur But aside from his stellar acting, and great performances the actor also has a relatable sense of style. It's the kind of style that is neither too experimental and nor too loud and yet it makes a statement and an impressive one at that. Unlike actors like Ranveer Singh and Aparshakti Khurana who rely on the element of shock value to express their sense of personality pulling off impossible things with stride, Vicky Kaushal stays conventional and hits the right notes of style pairing the best of everything together. © Instagram/amandeepkaur Case in point: for the Filmfare awards, Vicky Kaushal wore the classic bow tie with a tuxedo. The thing about something so classic and conventional is that anyone can easily go wrong with them. But not Vicky Kaushal. He added a classic pair of brogues by House Of Sunil Mehra with a surface that has the perfect balance of shine and ruggedness on it. The shoes were the star of this outfit. They lifted the outfit and took it to another level. Take a look: © Instagram/amandeepkaur Hands up if you too want to get shoes like Vicky Kaushal because we do.
  13. Chris Evans is the most superior Chris in Hollywood, no one can fight me on that. Sorry, Hemsworth, not so sorry, Pratt. Basically, we all know he's the best Chris but he's still always so adamant on proving that. Or maybe, the more plausible reason is that he's just that great of a person and he's just doing what's right. I mean, after all, he didn't become for Captain America for no reason. During the Oscar ceremony last night, actually this morning for us, Chris showed everyone once again what a gentleman he is and him just being him, obviously won everyone over. What happened was that, Chris was seated right next to Regina King and her mother. Regina was nominated - and then won - the Academy Award for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for 'If Beale Street Could Talk'. As she was getting up, it was followed by a standing ovation which was led by Chris of course, and it looked like she stumbled a little bit because of her dress. Then, Chris being Chris was already there to help her. Aww, look at that. What a guy! It's also not the first time he has been this sweet and literally won everyone's hearts. People have been just talking about this moment and what a gentleman he really is and he knows it. That means a lot coming from my on-screen mom :) https://t.co/XnyHTj8nY0 — Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) February 25, 2019 Tell me also, please. 14. The 2019 Oscars were an interesting blend of performances and winners and thankfully, a lot of predicted winners got their due and the much awaited golden lady as well, including none other than Lady Gaga who surprised and wowed the audiences last year when she teamed up with Bradley Cooper for 'A Star Is Born' and gave us the musical we deserved. Her performance and the original track 'Shallow' were already being touted to be award winners and well, they didn't disappoint. 15. Vicky Kaushal is the kind of fashionista who doesn't ever try hard. But the thing is, he doesn't need to. His cheerful demeanour coupled with the effortless charm of a chivalrous guy next door works wonders for him, every single time. However, he just won a bunch of awards, and wore a super classy blue suit for the occasion. Naturally, all eyes were on him, and how 'dreamy' he looks in that became the talk of the town. Take a look. © Instagram/vickykaushal09 Vicky wore a smart blue suit from Tisa Studio with a statement embossed aesthetic that stood out, despite being extremely subdued and subtle. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani The stretch of strong royal blue is making him look super tall (not that he needs it, at all, being as tall as he actually is). When it comes to footwear, the dark plum and black Oxfords are a perfect accompaniment to the statement suit. © Viral Bhayani The fact that he chose to wear the standard white shirt with it, casually unbuttoning the topmost part, shows that the man has nailed it when it comes to be effortlessly stylish. © Viral Bhayani Vicky won the Dadasaheb Phakle Award for the Best Performance in a Leading Role for 'Uri', the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Award, and the Femina Fresh Face of the Year Award. Congratulations, champ!
  16. The sixth season of 'Koffee With Karan' is hands down the best and the most controversial season of all time. And we're sure no one understands the controversy aspect better than Hardik Pandya, who is till date being trolled and bashed for his comments on the show. But, this season of 'Koffee With Karan' is not just about gossip, controversy, or gift hamper. It was also about an Audi A5 which most of us were reminded about recently, after the winner was announced. FYI, the best 'Answer Of The Season' (AOTS) was supposed to get the car. © Star World *Drumrolls* We have a winner for the Audi A5 Sportback, guys! To be honest, it's the most unexpected name. While most of us were hoping for Ranveer, Deepika, Alia, Katrina or the 'Baahubali' gang to win it, KJo's special panel of judges reportedly announced Ajay Devgn as the winner. However, his victory is not the concern here. What matters is that Ajay Devgn won a car, actually an Audi car, for trolling his own movie he starred in way back in 2005. Remember 'Kaal'? Yes, the same movie, starring Ajay Devgn, Lara Dutta, Esha Deol, John Abraham and Vivek Oberoi, which is known more for its songs than the storyline. © Star World In the show, Karan asked Ajay about one superstition he is guilty of believing. Ajay said, "I had this superstition that all your films with 'K' work, till we did Kaal." That film bombed miserably at the box office. The panel of judges included Kirron Kher, Malaika Arora, Mallika Dua and Vir Das. It's surprising how Malaika chose Ajay Devgn's response over Arjun Kapoor's. Maybe, because she was in the song 'Kaal Dhamaal'. © Instagram Reportedly, Ajay was handed over the keys on Thursday.
  17. Everything that can be said and written about Ranveer Singh's rather extravagant style has been said and written. He's one guy who has never backed down for experimenting with clothes, even at his wedding, and we all loved him for it, even though his style has been a meme for the longest time. © Twitter Turns out his wacky style and love for anything printed and unusual is contagious. He's rubbed off on his 'Simmba' co-star Sara Ali Khan in the best way possible and she's fully embracing it. In fact, she's even sharing memes about her drastic change from all white clothes and it was the beginning of an epic meme-off between her and baba. © Sara Ali Khan/Instagram I have to give it to Sara, the meme is totally spot on! Also, if this is the amount of change in Sara after doing one movie with Ranveer, I wonder how many wacky fashion moments are coming our way from Deepika Padukone now. But now, it was time to retaliate and troll back and Ranveer obviously came through. He, in turn, shared a hilarious meme of Sara and even put his own gif on it. Well, Ranveer really is the epitome of self-love in Bollywood. © Ranveer Singh/Instagram Very funny, Ranveer, good wordplay. I know they both didn't make the memes themselves and were probably tagged in them by their fans, but I still want to believe that both of them spent their Sunday participating in this epic meme war and were frantically making memes to reply to each other because that's just hilarious to think about.
  18. It seems like the honeymoon period for newlyweds Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone is not over yet. Ranveer, as the mad-in-love and obsessed Khilji, has garnered a lot of praises for his role and now, he is reaping the fruits in terms of sweeping all the 'best actor' trophies out there. 19. Some people have taken the phrase 'if you've got it, flaunt it' a little too seriously and have turned it into a new internet challenge. Almost every crazy, over the top challenge originates in either China, Japan or South Korea and this time was no different. The 'flaunt your wealth' challenge is the biggest thing in China right now and no, it's not for broke bitches like me. But, this cheesy challenge is everywhere and well, I can just look at it and feel bad about my life. 20. Seeing an inaccurate tweet and then people trolling that very tweet is something we see every day, but honestly, it never gets old, especially when an entire political party is getting trolled for one hilariously wrong tweet. India recently had a second straight win against West Indies, sweeping the two-match Test series 2-0 with an impressive 10-wicket victory. 21. While the majority of us were still snoozed out at 4:30am on Tuesday morning, weightlifting history was being made by a 15-year old Indian athlete in Argentina. Remember Jeremy Lalrinnunga, the young weightlifter we told you about last year? © IWF Well, he just conquered the men's 62kg weightlifting event at the ongoing Youth Olympics in Argentina, standing tall with India's first ever gold medal in weightlifting on an Olympic stage. A weightlifting event comprises two lifts: the snatch and the clean & jerk. The athlete with the highest total clinches gold. Jeremy's first attempt in Snatch (120kg) was more than majority of athletes' final attempt. The Indian lifter, successfully lifted 120kg on his first snatch, missed his second attempt (124 Kg) but finally managed to get it in his final attempt. With the highest Snatch in the competition, Jeremy was playing for the gold right from the start. © IWF In clean & jerk he started with a successful 142kg. In his next attempt at 147 Kg, he successfully cleaned the weight, but failed to push it overhead. After Caner Topas (Turkey) and Jose Villar (Colombia) made their final attempts, Jeremy was declared the champion. Since he had already won, he could have withdrawn from taking the final attempt but like a true champion, Jeremy made his third attempt and effortlessly cleaned & jerked a whopping 150kg. His total shot up to his new personal best of 274kg in the process. This was the first time the Indian National anthem played in a weightlifting auditorium during an Olympic competition. © IWF Jeremy's potential was discovered by the Prestigious Army Institute of Sports, Pune, where he has been nurtured into a world-class weightlifter. He currently trains at the National Institute of Sports, Patiala under coach Vijay Sharma, who is also the coach to World Champion female weightlifter Mira Bai Chugh. 23. We know why you're here and trust us, it's the same reason why we wrote this story. Our generation happens to be the lucky bunch that gets to behold numerous off-the-beaten-track career options, that our parents would've never even dared to consider during their time. We feel pretty good about the current scenario, but it's also true that not all of us are that confident about chucking the traditional ways so easily and chase after our dreams because, as pados wali aunty says, “job and financial security ka kya hoga?” Well, while we can't take that leap of faith regarding your career for you, we can surely help you take inspiration from others' success stories to realise your own dreams and take that first step. Here is a list of six young Indian men, who dared to take the plunge into the unknown, and won big in life: 1. Shivesh Bhatia © Instagram Shivesh is just 22 years old, but in such a short time he has debunked multiple gender stereotypes all at once. An avid baker and a food blogger with 121K followers on Instagram, he is the mastermind behind a delectable looking feed that's a welcome sight for anyone with a sweet tooth. Apart from this, he also runs his own blog where he shares his recipes with other bakers. But the best part is that he has just authored his first cookbook 'Bake with Shivesh' which is being published by Harper Collins. While people go on yapping about how whipping out pastries and pies is a job suitable for women, Shivesh has proved to such dimwits that no career is gender specific and if you put your heart into your passion, then you shall receive the best 2. Punit Pathak © Instagram Many of you might have first seen him showing off some killer dance moves in the movie 'ABCD: Anybody Can Dance' in 2013 but Punit's dance career dates back to the second season of the reality show 'Dance India Dance' in 2010, when he first grabbed major limelight on the show with his charismatic performances. Cut to 2018, he has been a judge and a mentor on reality dance shows like 'Dance India Dance' and 'Dance+'. Today, he is a Bollywood choreographer and an actor who has created his own niche in the industry and boasts of a huge fanbase too. For the longest time, our society challenged the idea of men getting into this profession, branding it as unstable, however, Punit has not only dismantled their narrow outlooks but has also proved that your passion can become your career as well. 3. Bhuvan Bam © Instagram The guy needs no introduction being the epic personality that he is. His 'BB Ki Vines' is an absolute show stealer and it rightly put him on the map as one of India's best YouTubers in recent times. He is one of GenY's most beloved entertainers whose sketches and performances have cracked us up for the longest time. However, the 24-year-old started out as a singer and stage performer, later switching over to comedy sketches which made him popular nation-wide. He has been a part of many popular web series and now, even a short film 'Plus Minus' is in the pipeline for him. He has made a successful career as a YouTuber and continues to aim for the stars. 4. Advait Chandan © Filmfare Advait is the guy behind the coming-of-age movie 'Secret Superstar' starring Zaira Wasim in the lead and Aamir Khan in a cameo role. The audience loved Advait's storytelling in his directorial debut under Aamir's production house and the movie earned numerous positive reviews from critics. The movie was nominated for numerous awards under multiple categories and went on to win three Filmfare awards. From the time when no production house came forward to support the movie, to garnering a major success in the entertainment industry, Advait became an inspiration for people who wish to share their story with the world and have the passion to chase their dreams. 5. Sanam Puri © Instagram It was back in 2010 when Sanam made the decision to audition for Times Music Supastars, a hunt for India's next pop band. He got together with his brother and two other friends to form the SQS Supastars. In 2013, their moment of glory arrived when they got their Bollywood break in the movie 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' with the song 'Dhatt Teri Ki'. However, today they are known as the Sanam band who are more popular for their music covers on their YouTube channel. This was a chance accident, that went on to eventually bring them a loyal fan base that appreciates the music they create. So, the next time someone says singing wouldn't bring you success and money, think about this guy! 6. Kanan Gill © YouTube Kanan started out as a writer who penned funny songs and lyrics for his comedy rock band in college, where he was studying software engineering. While he worked in the IT industry, his love for comedy persisted. He decided to give his passion a try and went on to win many comedy competitions. In 2014, came Kanan's big break when he landed a sketch comedy show on Comedy Central called 'The Living Room'. Along with the success of his shows and the popularity of 'Pretentious Movie Reviews' on YouTube, he soon became a popular comedian that the youngsters instantly connected to. Kanan left his job in no time and we already know how far he has come since. He even landed a major role in the Bollywood movie 'Noor' starring opposite Sonakshi Sinha. 24. It doesn't matter if you watch cricket matches or even care about the game. If India is playing against Pakistan, I can guarantee that almost the entire country is glued to the television, waiting for India's victory. Everyone obviously already knows about the most anticipated game of the Asia Cup that took place yesterday, and to say that everyone was extremely excited for it would be an understatement. In fact, even before the match started, the hashtag 'IndvsPak' was already active. Moreover, it was the perfect opportunity for India to avenge their defeat at the Champions Trophy. All the people from both the sides of the border didn't hesitate before taking a dig at each other but as we all know, the winner takes it all and Indians won the meme match on twitter. 25. Irrespective of the sport, every athlete dreams about representing their country on the international stage. It's needless to say that all their training and hard work eventually culminates to making the motherland proud. But, while everyone aims to carry the baton for their respective homelands, only a handful are able to deliver under immense pressure. However, when you add an ailing father into the picture and the fact that an athlete had to leave him behind to represent his country at the coveted 2018 Asian Games, the amount of pressure on that sportsperson is arguably beyond measure. Tajinderpal Singh Toor found himself in a similar situation not very long ago. The Indian shot-putter was ready to travel to Indonesia where athletes from different countries were going to lock horns in a bid to secure a medal at this year's Asian Games. But, while the opportunity of representing India at such a major tournament got Tajinderpal excited, it also meant that he had to leave his father - who was battling cancer - behind. © AP The situation that Tajinderpal found himself in can easily affect any athlete and throw them off their game. But, Tajinderpal used it as a source of motivation - something not many are capable of doing. He began the men's shot put final with a brilliant effort, but then struggled in following attempts. This was the time when his coach MS Dhillon reminded him of all the sacrifices he had made to be there. And, the result was a 20.75m throw - a new Asian Games records and a gold-medal finish for an emotional Tajinderpal. It was a performance that highlighted an individual's ability to overcome all odds and come out on top. Overwhelmed with emotions, Tajinderpal couldn't hide his feelings as to what the Asian Games gold meant to him and his family. "This is my biggest achievement because a lot of sacrifices have been made. For the last two years, my father (Karam Singh) has been battling with cancer. My family though never let me get distracted. They allowed me to chase my dream. A lot of sacrifices have been made by my family and friends and all those have paid today," Tajinderpal, overwhelmed with emotions, had told TOI after winning the Asiad gold. "My family never pressurised to attend my father in hospital and it was always my friends who took care of all the hospital formalities in my absence. I have not gone home much in this period since I was training in Dharamsala. Now I will meet my dad but I will be there for only two days. I have to get ready for the next challenge. My coach MS Dhillon also needs to be credited for the hard work put in by him," the Indian athlete had added. © AP It was undoubtedly the best gift a son can give to his father, and an athlete to a country. But, fate had different plans for Tajinderpal. His happiness was going to be short-lived. AFI is in deep shock. We received Tejinder Toor, our Asian Shot Put Champion Gold Medalist at the airport last night & as he was on his way to hotel, sad news of his father's demise reached us. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Our heartfelt condolences to Tajinder & his family. pic.twitter.com/ZmtAvrhh3r — Athletics Federation of India (@afiindia) September 4, 2018 Excited to return to his hometown Moga in Punjab, Tajinderpal landed at the airport late on 3rd September. The Indian sportsperson was on his way to the hotel with the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) officials when he was struck with a heavy blow. He was informed that his father had lost his battle to cancer. Karam Singh, father of Tejinder Singh Toor who won gold in shot put in Asian games 2018 is no more. He was suffering from cancer. This is his last video perhaps when media visited his home to cover story and congratulate him. RIP #Punjab #Moga #Sports pic.twitter.com/iF46bNZPom — Arshdeep (@arsh_kaur7) September 4, 2018 The man whose troubles had inspired Tajinderpal to Asiad gold had passed away. His father had a last wish of holding his son's Asiad gold in his hands, but, sadly, it couldn't be fulfilled. "I can't speak to my father. Because of the cancer in his throat, he can't speak to me over the phone. But I know he is proud of me," Tajinderpal had told ESPN after his triumph in Indonesia. Newly crowned Asian Games champion Shot putter Tejinder Pal Singh Toor's father passed away after his brave battle with cancer. May God rest his soul in peace . ॠशाà¤à¤¤à¤¿ शाà¤à¤¤à¤¿ ðð» — Rahul PAWAR (@rahuldpawar) September 3, 2018 For an athlete who chose to train, work hard and eventually made the country proud at the expense of spending time with his family, Tajinderpal deserves all the credit and praise one can spare for sportspersons. And, while we all basked in his glory at the Games, in this darkest hour of his life, India must stand by Tajinderpal's side, for that is the least we can do to repay the efforts of our brave athletes. And, while nothing that compensate the loss of life, we are sure that Tajinderpal's father - wherever he is now - will be proud of the fact that his son's biggest achievement in life - the Asian Games gold - was for him.
