  1. In 1988, a 6-year-old boy went for his first live concert with his parents in New York. At the legendary Madison Square Garden, the kid, who was possibly one of Mithun Chakraborty's biggest fans, saw his idol perform live in front of 20,000 screaming fans. Fast forward to the present, and that 6-year-old fanboy found himself sharing screen space with his idol, Mithun Da as a co-actor, in 'The Tashkent Files'. © Prashantt Guptha The little boy we're talking about is actor Prashantt Guptha, who in an exclusive interview with MensXP, spoke about how his journey and how it is nothing less than a 'divine miracle' for him to do a film with Mithun Chakraborty. BTW, did we tell you, 'The Tashkent Files' has been critically acclaimed and is doing incredibly well at the box office? Taking cue from 'Gully Boy', Prashantt said, "the milestone success of 'THE TASHKENT FILES' gives me that apna time aayega kind of feeling." © Prashantt Guptha "From 'Issaq' to 'Neerja' to 'The Tashkent Files', I came here to stay and my time has come," - Prashantt Guptha. Being a fan is one thing, but working with your idol as a co-star is a surreal experience. When we spoke to Prashantt and the excitement in his tone said it all, "the joy of going from a fanboy to co-star is no less than a divine miracle. How can I ever forget the vivid memory of him dancing to 'Krishna, dharti pe aaja tu' in front of 20,000 screaming fans. Never did I imagine that 30 years later I would work with him in a film and be on the same poster." © Prashantt Guptha When asked about his experience, he said, "Had Dada not made me comfortable from day one, I would have been nervous throughout the whole film. That was one memorable moment, where you are sitting with him and cracking jokes, eating together and even get a compliment from him. When he heard this (New York concert) story, his eyes were glittering like there were stars in his eyes." Success stories don't happen in a day, as everyone goes throuh his or her fair share of struggle. For Prashantt too, it wasn't a cakewalk or luck that worked in his favour. From facing multiple rejections, humiliation at the hands of some people to battling depression; Prashantt's struggle not only made him stronger and wiser but also gave everyone around him hope that if you have willpower, then nothing can stop you. © Prashantt Guptha Everyone comes to Mumbai with dreams to make it big in Bollywood and so did Prashantt. But, when the harsh reality dawned on him, his perception of the industry changed, "I have never appreciated how some people have treated me. I hate how people ignore you. I hate that until you haven't made it big, there's absolutely no talk about your craft, your attitude or your decency as a human being. People look through your face, look through your eyes and they ignore you. That really hurts and belittles you." However, the treatment of some people never deterred him from doing what he wanted to do, "Indeed it is traumatic to remember the ways I was treated, but the learnings have healed me too. Looking back, I have nothing but gratitude for how these experiences with people, situations, and this industry overall have shaped my being and strengthened my soul." © Prashantt Guptha He further revealed, "Here in India, we have a saying, 'chai se zyaada ketli garam'. You'll be surprised to know the biggest people I've worked with, be it the Rajshris, Vivek Agnihotri or stalwarts like Naseer (Naseeruddin Shah) saab and Mithun Da, have been the nicest. Yet with the 'gatekeepers' of the offices, the secretaries and at times assistants, I've been subjugated to so much belittling and mental torture. It was simply power-play. They didn't care where I came from, what I have done, how nice I am, whom I came through, or how talented I was." © Prashantt Guptha Things were never rosy for him. Multiple rejections and most importantly, the way people treated him, slowly slipped him into depression. "When you go through all of it, you become very bitter, you become very resentful, you hurt yourself and go through mental torture." When asked about the lowest point in his career, he said "There wasn't just one low point in my career. The accrued low points led to clinical, psychological and emotional issues and that was the worst of what I've been through. Even worse was the pain my journey put my family through." © Prashantt Guptha But Prashantt never gave up nor did he let depression or the clinical issues he was going through pull him down. He not only overcame depression, but also proved his mettle to the world like a true boss. In fact, he is grateful for having gone through depression, "because that shaped me as an artist in multiple ways. You learn so much about life, learn to help others and going through a very bad patch in life shapes you for the rest of your time." Having battled and overcome depression himself, Prashantt has an important message for his fans and all those people who are reading this right now, "Depression is a very bad thing and I would say it to anybody who is going through it, the best thing you can possibly do is talk to a friend or a relative. Talking to people will really heal you through this phase. I went through it and I have no regrets anymore. That time I did, but not anymore." © Prashantt Guptha Currently, Prashantt is working on a film with veteran actress Revathi. On talking about his co-actor and the chemistry he shares with her, he said "I am currently doing a film with Revathi, where I play her son and that has been my toughest and most enjoyable role. Revati ji, who is a three-time national award winner, is by far one of the finest human beings." He is also doing another short film with actress Bidita Bag and a feature film with Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee. What's more, it is his hardwork and talent that has made him the only Indian actor ever to get cast as a lead in a Hollywood Christmas movie. The movie, 'A New Christmas' is the story of an Indian boy and an African girl, who meet in New York during Christmas and fall in love. © Prashantt Guptha From being a little boy in New York who moved to Mumbai and struggled to become an actor, Prashantt has come a long way, "My journey has made me a better actor, has made me a tougher human being, has taught me how to meditate and it humanises me in every way. But, I have no regrets. I have got from some fine examples to learn from. I learn from Irrfan Khan, Pankaj Tripathy and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Manoj Bajpai. These are the actors I look up to and actors I want to become like. And they all took a very long time." We all love reading and talking about success stories, but how many of us get that 'one in a million' chance to live one? Prashantt Guptha got it and he grabbed the opportunity with both his hands. Today, his inspiring success story has become a valuable lesson we all can learn from.

  3. There are some movies that are bad and then there is 'Kalank', which is so bad that people only love to troll it. 'Kalank' is one of those movies that could have just been a trailer or a short film. The story was so predictable and almost everything was given away in the trailer itself. But, people still went to watch it and we guess the only reason was to come back and make these hilarious memes. © dharma productions However, out of all the performances of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor or Madhuri Dixit, it is the performance of the CGI-Ed bull that was loved by people. Although the makers put a disclaimer mentioning that no animals were harmed while filming the bullfight scene, why wasn't there any disclaimer stating "Watch it at your own risk because the CGI is bad"? © dharma productions We guess KJo loves bullfights, or maybe he wanted to take inspiration from 'Baahubali: The Conclusion'. Also, FYI, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions is the same production house that produced 'Baahubali: The Conclusion'. © arka media works Seriously what is this obsession with showing a character's strength by making them fight a bull? First it was Bhallaladeva, now it's Varun Dhawan's Zafar. But, just look at the difference between the CGI effects and VFX in both the movies. Looks like internet can't seem to get over Varun's struggle with the fake bull and have turned that particular scene into a meme. 4. Sumeet Vyas is the kind of actor who keeps our faith alive, when it comes to the belief that sometimes, being good at your craft is all that matters. When he was thrown under the spotlight, thanks to the inimitable success of TVF's web series 'Permanent Roommates', he stood up to the challenge and kept proving himself, through every role he took up. 5. It takes more than mere skills to face the camera and enact a scene based on a narration and some lines peeking at you from between the white sheets of paper dabbed in black ink. It takes more than a few years of training at a film school, or the sweat and tears you expend backstage for every play that's presented in the theatres. There is a lot more that goes into the making of an actor. The talent and skills are but mere prerequisites in this line of work. So even before the cameras start rolling and the call to action is barked, it is an actor's struggles, continuous reinvention and unceasing passion for the craft that makes an actor, one who is worthy of spending our precious three hours over. © Instagram Irrfan Khan undoubtedly tops the list when it comes to actors who are worth every single 'paisa' of our money, and every minute of our time that we spend watching him spill his magic on-screen. Irrfan's journey in the Hindi film industry is a psychedelic, riveting montage of the many characters he portrayed to perfection throughout an acting career spans over 30 long years! From a meager role of a letter writer in Mira Nair's 'Salaam Bombay!' in 1988, to playing a jilted husband with a streak of wickedness about him Abhinay Deo's 'Blackmail' (2018), Irrfan's journey in Bollywood has almost all the shades of the colour (read acting) palette to his credit. © Instagram The big guns of the industry lost a bit of their sheen against the glory of this actor who persistently worked his way up the ladder. From often being a comic relief or kept at the sidelines as a prop to the larger storyline, he made his own path with titles such as 'Haasil', 'Maqbool', 'Life In A Metro' and 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' under his belt. However, it would be the 2012 release 'Paan Singh Tomar' that would finally bring Irrfan Khan his due in the Bollywood industry. Every actor and directed stopped and took notice of the actor who brought soldier-turned-bandit Paan Singh Tomar to life on the silver screen. © Instagram Soon enough people fell in love with this ruggedly handsome man, raw around the edges and bearing a sheepish smile, who was running his own race. The dark horse was finally here, and people simply couldn't get enough of the underdog making it to the “elite” category. 'The Lunchbox' was another massive win for the terrific actor, followed by marvels such as 'Qissa', 'Piku' 'Talvar', 'Madaari', 'Hindi Medium', and 'Qarib Qarib Singlle' that allowed us to witness and appreciate the actor who was changing the face of Hindi cinema one film at a time. © Instagram The wheels of fortune turned for Irrfan and this time it was not just Bollywood, but Hollywood too that wanted more of him on-screen. Hollywood had found the modern day actor for all things Indian. However, the roles Irrfan was being offered were not average, with limited screen presence like his predecessors. Irrfan bagged diverse, meaty roles in big Hollywood films such as 'The Warrior', 'Namesake', 'Jurassic World' 'Life of Pi' and 'The Inferno'. Now they say, with all the good comes a little of the bad, and the same came true for Irrfan. Last year in March, Irrfan announced that he had been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour and left for London soon after to undergo treatment for his condition. © Instagram All through his treatment the actor kept his fans and well-wishers updated about his condition and the progress he had made with the treatment. The past year was also the time when Irrfan had the time to introspect and come to terms with the bigger truth of life. Irrfan not only accepted the vulnerability of human life, but he was also vocal about the fact that at the end of the day we are nothing but human beings on this journey called life. © Instagram After a length of a long, arduous year, the 'Karwaan' actor officially announced that he is back in the game after kicking cancer to the curb - stronger than ever, and grateful for a second chance at life. He took to Twitter and shared that, “Maybe somewhere in the pursuit of winning, we forget how much it means to be loved. In our vulnerability, we are reminded. As I leave my footprints onto these steps of my life, I want to pause to be grateful for receiving your immense love and support, it soothed me in my process of healing. So I travel back to you, thanking you from the bottom of my heart.” © Instagram The picture that accompanied this post warmed our hearts, and we are equally thankful to get one of our best back. All of us are looking for his next film to hit the screens ASAP, and for now it seems there won't be a long wait. Irrfan's journey is proof that once a winner, always a winner.

  7. When Forbes released this year's '30 under 30' list, there was only one actor in it, and no, he wasn't from Bollywood. Vijay Deverakonda, the latest heartthrob of Telugu cinema, won the prestigious accolade, and it definitely is a reminder of the fact that regional cinema is as impactful as Bollywood (if not more), and it's time we start bringing them to the forefront. The handsome actor, best known for his breakthrough movie 'Arjun Reddy', is as brilliant in terms of his style game, as he is when it comes to acting. Here are 10 images that establish our claim. 1. 8. Thinking hat on, magnifying glasses in hand and my Sherlock style coat dangling from the back of the chair – I'm ready to play Sherlock on British actor Benedict Cumberbatch and go all Holmes on you. From 'Avengers' to 'Star Trek', this maverick actor has been a part of some exciting projects but there's a lot more to his story than just big name-dropping. Did you know that Benedict Cumberbatch was actually kidnapped? No, that's not the plot of his next movie. This actually happened. And did you know that he actually considered dropping his last name? Shocked? I hope so! There's a lot more to unravel about this talented man. So scroll through to tick off the pointers you already knew about your favourite Sherlock on-screen. 1. He wasn't immediately convinced to play Sherlock Holmes. He felt that the outcome could be a bit cheap and cheesy. 9. Vicky Kaushal is making headlines every day and for good reason. Delivering great movies one after the other, he's no more the boy next door. He has arrived. From supporting roles to carrying his own films flawlessly, the actor has really evolved. © Instagram/amandeepkaur But aside from his stellar acting, and great performances the actor also has a relatable sense of style. It's the kind of style that is neither too experimental and nor too loud and yet it makes a statement and an impressive one at that. Unlike actors like Ranveer Singh and Aparshakti Khurana who rely on the element of shock value to express their sense of personality pulling off impossible things with stride, Vicky Kaushal stays conventional and hits the right notes of style pairing the best of everything together. © Instagram/amandeepkaur Case in point: for the Filmfare awards, Vicky Kaushal wore the classic bow tie with a tuxedo. The thing about something so classic and conventional is that anyone can easily go wrong with them. But not Vicky Kaushal. He added a classic pair of brogues by House Of Sunil Mehra with a surface that has the perfect balance of shine and ruggedness on it. The shoes were the star of this outfit. They lifted the outfit and took it to another level. Take a look: © Instagram/amandeepkaur Hands up if you too want to get shoes like Vicky Kaushal because we do.
  10. Whoever thinks Bollywood is not capable of coming up with gripping crime thrillers needs to go watch Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer 'Badla' ASAP. If you have watched the movie, you'd know that the reason why it was such an amazing watch was because all the actors gave their 100%, irrespective of the role. One of the characters who stood his ground, matching the inimitable acting chops of the formidable Taapsee at every step, is debutant Tony Luke. Tony is a supermodel who has been ruling the fashion canvas for a long time. In fact, he was amongst the first Indian male models to find a representation by an international agency. He was a part of the Milan Fashion Week in 2005, and pioneered the way for Indian male models in the international scene. 14. The moment someone mentions Bollywood, the first thought that comes to our mind is the luxurious lifestyle of our beloved celebrities lead, the crazy fame and fan-following they enjoy and of course, the insane amount of money they earn per film. But, it's very rare when someone shows us the other side of the coin. A side which is dark and filled with thorns, miseries and struggles. Meet Savi Sidhu, whose story is a reflection of how unpredictable an actor's life can be. A man who was once an actor is now working as a security guard. © YouTube For most of us, Savi Sidhu might be a name we are hearing for the first time, but this man had once shared the screen with Akshay Kumar, Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor in 'Patiala House'. He has also worked in movies like 'Gulaal', 'Black Friday' and 'Bevakoofiyan'. He played Commissioner Samra in 'Black Friday'. But, today the man does not even have money to buy movie tickets. Now, Savi Sidhu is working as a security guard and a video featuring his life story was recently shared on YouTube. © YouTube The video begins with him talking about how Bollywood happened to him. "Anurag Kashyap mile, struggle karte karte toh mujhe Paanch mei liya, unki jo pehli film thi release nahi hui. Uske baad unhone mujhe 'Black Friday' mei liya, one of the main characters that is Commissioner Samra ka role kiya maine then unke sath maine 'Gulaal' bhi kari. Maine Yash Raj, Subhash ji ke sath, Nikhil Advani ke sath 'Patiala House' kari." While talking about his toughest phase, Sidhu who does a 12-hour shift as a security guard in a housing society said, "Sabse tough phase wo tha when I lost my wife". After that, he lost his father, mother and in-laws too. Eventually, he became alone, "akela hote hote alone". © YouTube Today he does not even have the money for bus tickets and watching a movie has become a distant dream for him. "Bohot filme miss kar raha hoon... dekhne ka mann karta hai par meri financial position aisi hai", he further added. Sidhu does not blame Bollywood for his struggle, "Kaam ki kabhi problem nahi hui. Mujhe hi chhodna pada ki mai nahi kar pa raha hoon. You know... it was like kya mere liye wait kar raha hai... yaha jaise logo ko kaam milta nahi aur mere pas itna kaam hai ki mai kaam nahi kar pa raha. Meri financial problems bhi badh gayi, health problems bhi badh gayi toh kaam khatam ho gaya." Although Sidhu might be going through one of the toughest times of his life, he is still hopeful that one day he is going to come back to Bollywood with a bang, and we hope that we get to see him on the big screen once more.

  19. Oscars 2019 is nearing and boy, it's going to a tight race this time, thanks to the string of mind-blowing string of performances we witnessed this year. via GIPHY It goes without saying that Rami Malek is leading the race after his unbelievably brilliant portrayal of the iconic Freddie Mercury in 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. via GIPHY However, he does have some serious competition lined up: Christian Bale - Vice Academy Award winner Christian Bale has gone through a massive transformation in Adam McKay's 'Vice', and we see him as one of the front-runners this awards season. via GIPHY Bale delivers a distinctive performance as he imitates former Vice President Dick Cheney. The world is all in praise of Bale's acting here and we now know up to what extent he can strain himself to add weight to his character. Literally, if needed. via GIPHY Though he didn't receive any nominations for his transformative role in 'The Machinist', we are highly positive of this one, as his magnificence and hard work cannot be ignored. Bradley Cooper - A Star Is Born Bradley Cooper is in the limelight again after years, thanks to his highly commercial and critically acclaimed film 'A Star Is Born'. via GIPHY Bradley has not only acted in the film, but has also directed it. This was a performance that was deep and spectacular at every level. As much as the glitter was on Lady Gaga, Cooper effortlessly shifted the spotlight upon him at various junctures in the film. via GIPHY Cooper's evolution in the film was much of an emotional ride for fans who have always seen him doing the bro-dude characters (apart from the one in 'Silver Linings Playbook'). We predict Cooper to be amongst one of the nominees. Who knows, he might win as well! Viggo Mortensen - Green Book Peter Farrelly's 'Green Book' is receiving a very clear response from the audience, thanks to Viggo Mortensen's poignant act that has landed him almost to the Academy conversation. via GIPHY Beyond any doubt, this is Viggo's career-defining performance. Toni (played by Viggo) may have used the N-word in the film, however, that would certainly not reduce his chances of getting nominated for Oscars 2019. via GIPHY Though Viggo has never been nominated by the Academy, he has won the SAG-AFTRA for 'The Lord of the Rings'. Robert Redford - The Old Man & The Gun In September this year, Robert Redford announced his retirement from Hollywood leaving his fans disappointed. Redford's last performance as Forrest Tucker in 'The Old Man & the Gun' is now being appreciated. via GIPHY Robert plays a grandpa with a pistol who escapes a prison and carries out a series of bank robberies. via GIPHY Though the film's script and direction are being criticized, Redford has strong chances of getting nominated, thanks to his five-decade-long career that may influence the jury about his nomination. Rami Malek - Bohemian Rhapsody Rami Malek deserves an Oscar for his outstanding performance in 'Bohemian Rhapsody'! Well, this is what people and media outlets are tweeting these days. via GIPHY Malek has added the absolute proportions of boldness, madness, and depth while playing Freddie Mercury, a timeless icon! For some, the film is too much to absorb, for others Rami is the real Queen! via GIPHY It is interesting to note that 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't received any lukewarm responses and has now become the highest grossing music biopic that has ever been made. Rami Malek can be a game changer, and we are entirely positive about his nomination. Honourable Mentions Hugh Jackman – The Front Runner John C. Reilly - Stan & Ollie Ryan Gosling – First Man Stephan James - If Beale Street Could Talk Clint Eastwood – The Mule Lucas Hedges – Boy Erased Ethan Hawke – First Reformed
  20. Hard work pays off. If not today, then tomorrow and Akshay Kumar is the living example of it. It's hard to believe but the man who won a national award for his film 'Rustom', was once termed as a 'furniture actor.' The arduous journey from being an action hero to an actor wasn't easy for him. Before Akshay Kumar, he was known as Rajiv Bhatia, who wasn't very good at academics and was always more inclined towards sports. His father, Mr. Hari Om Bhatia, was well aware of this fact and hence, sent him to Bangkok to study martial arts. There, along with learning martial arts, our Khiladi worked as a waiter & a chef, not knowing that one day he'll be hosting Master Chef of India. © Warner Bros After he learned Muay Thai there, a form of arts, he came back to India and started teaching martial arts in Mumbai. One of his students suggested him to try modelling. But he didn't have a portfolio and didn't have any money to make one. So he worked as an assistant to a famous photographer, Jayesh Seth, for around a year and a half for free to get his first portfolio shot. Then came modelling gigs and he became quite fond of it as he made more money as a model in the first couple of days than he did in an entire month as a martial arts teacher. On one such occasion, he missed his flight to Bangalore for an ad shoot. Devastated by this, he went to a film studio along with his portfolio to look for work. Luck played its part and he got signed as a lead role for the film 'Deedar.' Maybe it's true when they say, whatever happens, happens for good. But this wasn't his first film. His first film was Aaj (1987) which was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. He had a 4-5 second role of a karate instructor in it and Kumar Gaurav was his co-actor. The interesting part is that the name of Kumar Gaurav's character was Akshay in it. One morning, Rajiv Bhatia decided to change his name for no reason whatsoever and then born was our beloved Akshay Kumar. © Tridev Arts Akshay's first release was 'Saugandh' which was released in 1991. 'Deedar', which he signed before 'Saugandh', was released in 1992. His first couple of films didn't do great, but then came 'Khiladi', which did quite all right at the box office. His first hit, however, was 'Mohra', which came in 1994. Akshay has given many flops in his lifetime, including 14 back to back flop once, but he still always managed to bag movies because he was a producer's man. Akshay was punctual on sets, didn't throw any tantrums and never misused the producer's money. Apart from his action skills, this was one of the major reasons he was loved by his directors and producers. There came a time in Akshay's life where he was called a furniture actor as the man himself realised that all he is doing is action, and nothing much. In one of the interviews he said, "Whenever someone used to make an action film, they would say 'take this guy called Akshay'. When it came to acting, nobody used to take me." That's when he started looking for films which could bring out the actor inside of him. And then no one could stop him! He proved his mettle in comedy, drama, romance and almost every other genre. In 2000, he did 'Hera Pheri' & 'Dhadkan', which were a comedy and a romance film respectively. Both the films performed well at the box office and everyone applauded Akshay's acting skills. Hera Pheri is still considered as one of the best comedy films of Bollywood. Since then, Akshay has worked in more than a hundred films and has even done negative roles. For 'Ajnabee', he has won Filmfare in the category of Best Villain. © YouTube Akshay's personal life has also been quite happening until he met the love of his life. He had affairs with the likes of Shilpa Shetty and Raveena Tandon. But our hero finally fell in love with Twinkle Khanna, which actually started as a fling. On 'Koffee With Karan', Twinkle revealed, “I had come out of a long-term relationship and for the first time in my life I wanted to just have a fling. And there he was, sitting 6 feet of chocolate ice-cream. So I decided I am going to have a fling with him and it's going to last 15 days. That was my plan.” But the relationship grew and Akshay proposed to Twinkle for marriage. She didn't say yes right away and put a condition. She told him that if her film 'Mela' wouldn't perform well, then only she would marry him. She was actually quite sure that it would do well and marriage was the last thing on her mind. © Star World Luckily for Akshay, 'Mela' turned out to be a disaster. But Twinkle didn't say yes that easily even then. Instead of asking for his Kundali, she asked Akshay what diseases ran in his family, at what age did his uncles go bald, what did his aunt die from, and everything related to his genetics. Basically, she wanted to confirm their children would be perfectly healthy and good looking. She even made a list of pros and cons of marrying Akshay. (Tell your boyfriend this when he complains that you over think.) © YouTube Even Twinkle's mother, Dimple Kapadia, was sceptical about the marriage. She asked the duo to be in a live-in relationship first as she had heard that Akshay might be gay. What a cool mom, eh? But in the end, everything turned out well and Akshay tied the knot with Twinkle in 2001. Seems like some flings do turn into something great! Akshay is one of the most famous Bollywood actors, arguably THE most famous since he's the first Indian male actor to have 20 million followers on Instagram. This fan following came from all the hard work he has done to make himself stand where he is. © Twitter/Akshay Kumar He's known to wake up at 4 in the morning and go back to bed at 9. His schedule and punctuality are the reasons that he releases around three films in a year. Even at 50, he's fitter than most of us. He is also known for playing pranks with his co-actors on sets. Akshay is also a philanthropist since he actively promotes women empowerment, women's safety, the importance of the army, and also helps farmers whenever needed. © Excel Entertainment Most of his films are quite inspiring which gives a strong message to society. His recent film was on Independent India's first gold medal in hockey. Though being a teetotaller himself, he played the role of an alcoholic in this film and if you ask me, he nailed the role, like always! His upcoming film is '2.0' in which he'll be playing an antagonist and will be seen in an all-new avatar. © Lyca Productions We hope he keeps making inspiring films and keeps on entertaining us.
  21. Actors and celebrities are privileged, and that's a fact. But when they start using their privilege to do something good for the people, it's just a great thing to see. We've seen so many actors taking on social issues and working towards helping people and just working for the betterment of the country, especially in the time of a calamity. Now there's a new actor that has been added to this long list. Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC) president and South India actor Vishal has made the announcement that he will be adopting the Kaarkavaiyal village in Thanjavur district. Talking about the same, he tweeted - This village is mine. #kaarkavaiyaI thanjavur district. I swear I will bring back this village to normality and this will be my responsibility forever. Model village on the way.i luv u group #socialarchitects to help me achieve this.god bless — Vishal (@VishalKOfficial) November 24, 2018 In case you didn't know, the Thanjavur district has been heavily hit by the Cyclone Gaja with Kaarkavaiyal village being one of the worst affected regions in the area. People are obviously moved by this gesture and are probably looking forward to the entire restoration. There is also a video going around on Twitter with the villagers thanking the actor for his generosity. Actor Vishal has adopted a Village (தà®à¯à®à®¾à®µà¯à®°à¯ மாவà®à¯à®à®®à¯, பà®à¯à®à¯à®à¯à®à¯à®à¯à®à¯ தà¯à®à¯à®¤à®¿, à®à®¾à®°à¯à®à®¾à®µà®¯à®²à¯ à®à®¿à®°à®¾à®®à®®à¯) that has been destroyed by GajaCyclone Here is a resident from the Village thanking @VishalKOffical & Vishal has promised that he will make this Village the best in the Country pic.twitter.com/4va3zFlrAy — Ramesh Bala (@rameshlaus) November 24, 2018 This is really a great news, hope every actor adopt a village from the impacted region and work for its betterment. If #Vishal really takes this serious and improve their life then definitely people will forget and forgive the past promises which he did not fulfill #kaarkavaiyaI — Arima (@Dracarys28) November 24, 2018 People are really happy with him. Actor Raghava Lawrence also announced that he would be building 50 houses for those in cyclone-ravaged areas. pic.twitter.com/hJTrvAH5zh — Raghava Lawrence (@offl_Lawrence) November 25, 2018 It's great to see actors actually taking charge and doing something instead of just sending their thoughts and prayers on Twitter.

  23. Every time a new face with a promise of talent enters Bollywood, the industry lets out a sigh of relief, as talent is something which is still a rarity. Most faces are unable to shoulder this huge responsibility, and either burn out, or vanish - never to be seen again. Naturally, on the rare occasions when someone faces this challenge and wins it, that too with flying colours, and continues to prove their mettle time and time again, people take notice. Vicky Kaushal, undoubtedly, is one of those rare individuals, who has been delivering superb performances - without faltering in the slightest. (c) Instagram However, things did not start out to be all rosy for the talented lad, despite being the son of action director Mr Sham Kaushal. In a candid interview with 'Humans Of Bombay', Vicky shared his story. (c) Instagram "During college, I decided to interview for an IT job just for the thrill of it. I wanted to experience the 'nervousness' -- wearing a tie and waiting for someone to give your resumé to. I already knew that I wasn't ever going to choose that profession, even when I got the offer letter. My dad's an action director and despite his hope that 'Kaushal parivar ka chirag' is going to get a job with a secure pay and a 9-5 schedule — I announced that I wanted to become an actor. But, I'd never known struggle like my father had. He went into films only for survival. When my mom married him - they lived in a small 10x10 room, with a chattai and a chair. My father built everything from there on. He didn't have it easy - he had to hunt for our next meal. So he was very clear even if he didn't bring his work to the dining table, he made sure to let us know where each piece of furniture came from. That's why when I told him I wanted to act - he told me to be sure. Acting as a profession could not be a question mark for me. I needed to put 120% and not have a back up because then you can never put your full effort. So I tore up that offer letter from the engineering job and set out for auditions. My first one was horrifying. It was for a small role in a big film and I realised how far from everything I was. On my way home, I was like 'Vicky, ab toh tune job letter bhi phaad diya!' I was afraid, but I literally couldn't give up. So the next day, I got out of my house at 11 and set off to more auditions. I even started theatre and evolved as an actor. I wanted to learn the practicality. Finally Masaan released in 2015. And that's when my dad saw my performance on a big screen. He was really proud -- when he got a phone call from one of his friends - saying 'Vicky ke papa' He called me in 10 mins saying 'you know what happened? Someone called me Vicky's dad today!' So that's it. The journey from being my father's son to him being Vicky's dad was what gave me hope… things were changing. And my happiest moment since then was when I first bought my own car with my own money. When you're younger, you just say things like I'll have my own Mercedes someday.. Never knowing when it'll happen. So I took my mom to the show room and she said, 'You remember when you were younger, you used to point out toy cars in those shops? And today you're making me sit in your car.' She had tears in her eyes. That was the moment I knew that I've retained my title as being the 'Kaushal parivaar ka chirag,' and I did it on my own terms." (c) Facebook All we can say is, Kudos! All the luck in the world to you, Vicky!

  25. Considering some of the biggest and most successful movies in Bollywood are based on those, we can say one thing for sure – you can almost never go wrong with a biopic of an inspiring person. Some of the biggest actors in the film industry have tried their best in bringing someone else's life story on the big screen and now Shahid Kapoor is also all set to join the league of Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra among others and portray the boxing legend Dingko Singh in a biopic. Ngangom Dingko Singh, or better known as just Dingko Singh is a former boxing champ and Asian Games gold medallist from Manipur. He was also the first and only Asian gold medallist boxer from India in the Bantamweight category. Moreover, for all of his achievements for the country, he was also awarded the prestigious Padma Shri in 2013. Dingko has become an inspiration for so many boxers and people aspiring to excel at the sport and he's so passionate about the sport, he went on to become a coach for young boxers. Well, looks like it was about time he got his very own well-deserved biopic. © Twitter This seems like such an important and ambitious project, Shahid Kapoor definitely has his work cut out for him. Talking about the movie, the actor said, “The thing that I loved about this story is that he is one of those superstars who we don't know much about. If a film like Dangal (2016) wasn't made, we wouldn't know as much about the Phogat sisters. Dingko is a cancer survivor, and he went through 13 rounds of chemotherapy. He has even gone on to say that his biggest win was surviving cancer and not the gold medal he won at the age of 19 at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok.” Shahid already looks very excited for his next big film and has nothing but respect for the inspiring story of a hero not a lot of people know about. He went on, “In 2017, Gautam Gambhir became aware of his situation and sent money for his treatment. Soon, people found out who he was, and 13 doctors came forward to help him. He is a sports star who survived cancer. At some point in his past, he had almost become a Naxalite. His life story is unbelievably crazy; it is very human and extremely inspiring. Such amazing stories of heroes need to be told.” The Dingko Singh biopic is all set to come out next year and is expected to release in September 2019. No offence to Shahid Kapoor, but the only question I have about this casting is why couldn't they find a north-eastern actor to portray a north-eastern person? There needs to be representation for everyone but looks like they're missing the mark again, just like Bollywood did with Mary Kom when Priyanka Chopra was cast to play her. © Twitter Well, I'm not surprised but just disappointed. Let's just wait till Bollywood will finally start recognizing talented people from the entire country, don't know when that will happen though. Recently, the internet came together to stop Scarlett Johansson from portraying a transgender person in movie, and she ultimately walked out of the project. The change has started happening in Hollywood, so hopefully Bollywood will also follow soon.
