  1. Analysis of 21b Facebook friendships shows children from poorer homes are likely to earn more if they become friends with wealthier kids
  2. Queen Elizabeth is reported to be hanging up her riding gloves as her 96th birthday approaches
  3. Only 90s kids remember how Holi used to be back when we were in school. We started preparations weeks earlier. However, it was the night before Holi that we got super excited and just couldn’t sleep. We would fill and stock the water balloons the night before, keep our Holi clothes neatly folded on the bed and make strategies in our head while trying to sleep. © © iStock However, the real fun started in the morning and we would be lying if we said that was not the most fun and amazing day of the whole year for us. Plus, since the 90s kids were practically crazy (we still are), they have the most hilarious and weird stories from their childhood on what went down on Holi. Disclaimer: It’s all about bhaang, balloons and some batshit crazy stuff. © iStock Here are some of the weirdest and most amazing yet funniest stories that desis shared on Reddit and it’s making us miss the madness of Holi we experienced as kids: 1. “My brother consumed some Bhang....He slept around 2 pm after playing Holi and woke up (came to his consciousness) on the 3rd day. Got up, took shower, wore his evening clothes and started putting Gulal on everyone. He was in 8th standard and I was in 10th. I was shocked and really scared because it was my first experience seeing someone behaving like this and I cried my heart out in the washroom because I thought I had lost my brother.” –shoppingstyleandus © iStock 2. “I loved Holi so much that I couldn't sleep the night before and used to end up filling water in balloons all through the night! One time…Someone close aimed the water balloon so well at me that it ended up hitting hard on my ear and kind of did a small rupture in my eardrum!” –xistential_dread35 © iStock 3. “On Holi, my friends got bhaang and made thandai. Now, nothing happened for a couple of hours - we joked the guy who got bhaang was duped. We were done playing Holi and were now washing off the stubborn colours at a tap outside. One of my friends was gently rubbing his palm against the wall to scrub off the colour. And then it happened. He wouldn't stop scrubbing. One of us said - "ise chadh gayi hai"...then someone said something worth half a chuckle. But another guy's chuckle soon became hysterical laughter. In a few minutes, he was rolling on the ground laughing while everyone else was left bemused.” –lazenby1985 © iStock 4. “A friend of mine, got hold of a lot of balloons to use on Holi. He said he got it from someone he knew - that they were throwing out balloons from a medical clinic. We were overjoyed - more so because the balloons were so elastic and could really hold a lot of water. While we were filling it up, some aunty saw and complained to my mother and I got a good scolding. I had no idea why. But she confiscated all these balloons and threw them in the garbage. I was so heartbroken and hated my parents so much that day. Many years later I thought about it and realized that these balloons were condoms.” –Electronic-Salary515 © iStock 5. “I was out for 12hrs straight. So, during my graduation, I went back home to celebrate holi with a few friends. There were some friends, who had made sherbat with bhang added onto them. Now these guys made us drink atleast two glasses of bhang for each one of us. I bleakly remember…that I was lying down on the lap of a female friend and continuously telling her "Hey Kali mata maine bahot paap kiya hai mujhe maaf kar de" (Hey Goddess Kali, I have committed a lot of sins. Please forgive me) and she was laughing her heart out. Later when I heard this story, I vowed never to drink any kind of bhang stuff.” –Unknown © iStock Okay, it proves that Holi is and can never be the same, especially now post-pandemic. However, we are glad we had the most amazing time playing like crazy kids back in the day. View the full article
  4. Virat Kohli ended the Test series against Sri Lanka without scoring a half-century in three innings and the former India captain has now played 73 innings without scoring a hundred in international cricket. Kohli only managed to score 86 runs in three innings in the two-match series that saw his Test batting average dip below 50 for the first time in nearly five years. The 33-year-old batter last touched the 100-run mark back in 2019 in a day-night Test against Bangladesh in Kolkata. While new India captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid are not too bothered with the lack of runs from Kohli's blade, his fans are getting anxious waiting for his 71st century. Virat Kohli's test average is below 50 now#Kohli#PinkBallTest #INDvSL pic.twitter.com/M8N9PbOl1a — KRAtOS (@KRAtOS0973) March 13, 2022 Kohli is getting starts but has failed to convert them into a big score. Except for the last Test, where on a dry M Chinnaswamy pitch the ball kept low and turned square, Kohli has got out playing the wrong line and length. To improve his confidence, Kohli's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has asked the India batter to come back to the cricket academy and gain some confidence back. "Virat will need to come back to his basics. I would definitely want him to come back to the academy. I was thinking about this from yesterday and I am going to talk to him. The kind of confidence that he gets batting in the academy, he needs it,” Rajkumar Sharma said on the Khelneeti podcast. Kohli's fans who have been waiting with bated breath for him to score a century, too urged his childhood coach to do some magic and help the batter get back to his dominant best. Yeah sir sure, this is what we want from our ex-Cricketer or Coach to talk to him....but they all are busy somewhere else...Thanks to you Sir https://t.co/MdcjxsO8uA — Simran (@_Vk_18) March 15, 2022Jaldi baat karo aur 1000+ runs in this season with SR of 150+ possible karwado sir ! https://t.co/drzGCa7BHN — Prashant (@Feel_MyBeat18) March 15, 2022HOPEFULLY childhood coach will bring his childhood game back! — Karan (@the_dude_180) March 15, 2022Haa sir g plz ussseai baaat kijeye Kyuki AEK apppp he toh hai jisko uski chinta hai — Muzamil (@MuzamilUnique) March 15, 2022 Kohli will be next seen in action in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, starting in less than two weeks. It will be the first time in nine years that Kohli will play only as a batter in the cash-rich league. He stepped down from captaincy last year after failing to win the title for the Bengaluru-based franchise. RCB recently appointed Faf du Plessis as their skipper as they look to clinch their maiden IPL title. Virat Kohli to step down from RCB captaincy after IPL 2021 "This'll be my last IPL as captain of RCB. I’ll continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game. I thank all RCB fans for believing in me & supporting me," he said in an official RCB video pic.twitter.com/nUT31sdKej — ANI (@ANI) September 19, 2021 After the IPL, the Indian team will travel to Edgbaston to play the postponed fifth Test from the five-match series last year that was postponed due to the Covid outbreak in the Indian camp. It will be fitting to see Kohli scoring a ton and help India win the Test series in England, a place where he witnessed his worst phase as a batter back in 2014. View the full article
