  2. The team of The Family Man is on cloud nine, and for good reasons. The show has been massively successful and has been received in an overwhelmingly positive manner. © Instagram/darshankumaar Darshan Kumar, who plays Major Sameer in the series, is ecstatic as well. After all, his character is the mastermind behind all the plans and missions that have kept audiences glued to their seat. His joy, though, comes from the fact that his friends and family members, want his character to die, or want something bad to happen to him. Seems strange, doesn’t it? Well, not to Darshan. © Instagram/darshankumaar We sat down with the self-confessed method actor, who comes to us from the tutelage of Naseeruddin Shah, and had a chat about his process, some of his best roles so far, and of course, season 2 of The Family Man. Edited Excerpts: © Instagram/darshankumaar What has been the craziest phone call or message that you have received since the release of The Family Man Season 2? I play a negative character, and basically am the mastermind of the plot. So, my friends and family are calling me up or messaging me and saying, “We hope you die in the next season, or something bad happens to Sameer.” I ask if that happens, what will happen in season 4? They, of course, say this out of love and mean it as a compliment because they really loved my performance. I think that is the mark of a good villain when the audience and even your friends and family hate your character. © Prime Video The Family Man 2 has been really well received by most people, with some of them even saying that this is the first time that a second season has been better than the first one. Did the team anticipate this sort of response? I actually did. While reading the script for the second season I told DK and Raj sir (Krishna D.K.& Raj Nidimoru) that this was going to be special, that this is going to go strike it out of the park. The concepts that we were dealing with and how we were dealing with them was the key. DK & Raj always find ways to extract something unique, whether you are talking about the stories, the actors or the cinematography. They are always on the lookout for something magical. And, of course, it goes without saying we had a phenomenal cast starting from Manoj sir, to Samantha. Everyone was putting their best foot forward for the show. Everything was spot on, so we were pretty confident that with the audience as well, it would click. © Instagram/darshankumaar You have a knack for playing villains. Satbir in NH10 remains to be one of the most underrated, but terrifying villains we have had. Then, you again play a negative character in the show. How do you approach such roles? In order to play a villain, you have to give him a story, you have to make him a character of your own. Everyone has a dark side and a more pious side. You have to consciously look into the dark side. You have to go deep into it. © Phantom Films I usually go into isolation, and just work on the character, his body language and mannerisms. When I am at a set, I should not be there as Darshan, I should be there as Satbir or Major Sameer. Every character, especially a negative character, has a journey, why they are the way they are. It has to look real. When I play a negative character, I believe that my character is in the right, I never think that what he is doing is wrong, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to do justice to the character. You consider Naseeruddin Shah to be your guru. Does he watch your performances in shows and movies? He usually does watch my performances, but I don't think he has seen The Family Man. I remember he gave me some really insightful feedback for my work in Mary Kom. He has always supported me and has been a constant guide. He has always appreciated me. He says to me that I am a good actor, that I will do good, so that helps a lot. He also tells me how important it is to choose the right script and how to approach something when I get stuck. © Instagram/darshankumaar He has a very varied body of work. What advice has he given you about selecting a script? He always tells me to go with my gut, but to also consider what the story is, who's directing who's my co-star, and who's producing. These are the main four pillars he says. After this, it is all about giving your best. These are the only things that matter. What is the medium, what is the platform, whether it is a film or a web series, all of these things are irrelevant. © MX Player You’re working on Toofan, right? Yes, I am. We have completed the principal photography, we need to take care of a few things in the post-production now. First Mary Kom, and then Toofan. You seem to have an affinity for boxing, don’t you? I was actually a national champion as a boxer and have actually won a number of medals. I grew up in a village near New Delhi's Vasant Kunj, and was a part of the local gymkhana, as a wrestler. I remember we had to dig our own akhadas. I eventually joined boxing and then moved on to kickboxing, 10 years ago. I have always had a soft spot for sports. © Instagram/darshankumaar Coming back to The Family Man, have fans already started calling you up for season 3? Oh yes, the team is already writing the next season. My fans have already started asking about it, and my friends are wishing that something bad happens to my character. © Instagram/darshankumaar What other projects can we see you in once things go back to normal? We plan to start shooting the next season for Aashram. I also have a project with T-Series where I am working with R Madhavan as the parallel lead, and then there's another project with Zee Studios where I am the lead. Once we resume work, I will be jumping into things headfirst. View the full article

  4. In Indian weddings, the baraatis and the groom are welcomed and treated royally with much fervour and pomp. Their every wish is fulfilled instantly and they are well-taken care of through the entire ceremony, and even after that. Some people take undue advantage of the bride’s family’s hospitality and make bizarre and insulting demands. © iStock In UP’s Pratapgarh, something similar happened when a groom and his friends showed up to the wedding drunk and made an inappropriate request to the bride. They reportedly forced her to dance on stage before the wedding rituals could begin and also misbehaved with the family. © iStock The 22-year-old bride deemed it highly disrespectful and refused to give in to the demand. Not only this, she walked out of the wedding, calling it off. She was offended by the groom arriving drunk and asking her to dance in front of the guests and his drunk friends. The groom apparently also created a nuisance when she refused to dance. © Prime Video The bride’s family asked the baraatis to return the money and gifts they owed them for the wedding as soon as the bride walked out. Upon their refusal, they called the cops and held them captive until the police came and resolved the issue. At last, after all the drama, the groom’s family agreed to return the money and were released. © iStock Talking about the incident, Mandhata station house officer Shrawan Kumar Singh told TOI, “A farmer from Tikri village had arranged his daughter’s marriage with a Ravendra Patel of Kutiliya Ahina village during the corona curfew. He had made necessary arrangements for the ceremony, but the groom and ‘baraatis’ arrived drunk.” © iStock “Initially, the bride’s family ignored their overtures, but the situation turned ugly when the groom pressed the bride to dance before the jaimala ceremony. When the bride refused, the groom created a ruckus. Irked by his behaviour, the bride walked out and her family members held the baraatis captive,” he added. © Prime Video This young bride was incredibly brave and made a strong statement about her having self-respect. She is clearly not a woman who would dance on someone else’s tunes. © Prime Video We are glad her family supported her and got the money invested in the wedding back. View the full article

  10. After teasing us for what seemed like a century, Friends finally is coming up with the reunion. Once the news was confirmed, we could barely keep calm, but something has just happened that is pushing us over the edge now. The trailer has dropped y'all. No, this is NOT a drill! via GIPHY Yes, we're half-laughing half-crying half-gasping too, just like you. Before we get into which moments were the highlights, let's look at the trailer first. It's a proper 2-minute long trailer too, none of that 30 second teaser business here again, thank God. View this post on Instagram Done? Well we know you're going to replay the bejesus out of it anyway, but let's do it together while appreciating it frame by frame. (Well, sorta.) Keep a tissue box ready cuz good luck keeping 'em waterworks at bay post this. Here it comes! 1. The starting itself. THE TEST IS READY! Who remembers the legendary quiz that decided the ownership of their apartment? Okay the real question should be, who DOESN'T remember that?! © HBO Max © HBO Max 2. Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc recreating the Barcalounger relief sigh, followed by a shot of the OG Joey and Chandler doing it. You're making us cry, you old boys. © HBO Max © HBO Max 3. The entire cast was asked the biggest question of 'em all: "Were Ross and Rachel on a break?". While everyone said a resounding 'yes', starting off with Jen Aniston herself, Matt LeBlanc was quick to dismiss it with a nonchalant 'bullshit' while sipping his coffee. Classic Joey. © HBO Max © HBO Max 4. Lisa Kudrow recreating the legendary 'My eyes, MY EYES!' moment from the iconic The One Where Everyone Finds Out episode, which btw, is also the highest rated episode of the series, something we wholeheartedly agree with. That lotion scene with Chandler and Phoebe still kills us. © HBO Max © HBO Max 5. The cast reminisced about the last episode, with a shot of all of them bowing to the live audience post the final 'cut'. Jennifer Aniston is almost about to ugly cry and Matt LeBlanc's eyes are working extra hard while trying to keep the tears in. This, followed by a shot of the present day Matthew Perry saying "I'm about to cry now." If this doesn't get you, you're dead inside. © HBO Max © HBO Max 6. The back to back entry of 2 of the most iconic characters: Richard Burke and, wait for it, JANICE! She's saying, yes, here it comes: OH. MY. GOD! (At this point we're saying it with her.) © HBO Max © HBO Max 7. And finally, a shot of the six of them hugging. Although we can only see Jennifer's eyes twinkling with tears, we all know that there wasn't a dry eye anywhere at that moment, on and off screen. © HBO Max © HBO Max Where's that damn tissue box? 12. Iqbal star Shreyas Talpade has raised several eyebrows after he opened up recently on the many 'fragile egos' in Bollywood and how he has been 'backstabbed' by people from the industry who he thought were his friends. He expressed how few actors refused to work with him as they were 'insecure'. View this post on Instagram “I found out that there are certain actors who are insecure about sharing screen space with me and don’t want me in a film. I have done certain films for friends only keeping their interests in mind but then I have been back-stabbed by the same friends. Then some friends go ahead and make films without including me, which makes one question if they are even friends at all. Actually, in the industry, 90% of the people are just acquaintances, there are only 10% who actually feel happy when you do well. The egos are so fragile here," he was quoted by the Hindustan Times. View this post on Instagram He expressed how the pandemic has brought a change in the industry. However, according to him, the industry has been one-sided and unfair for a long time. He also said, “So, this correction was necessary. From here on we pretty much have an equal playing field for all of us. Things are looking bright, amazing and exciting." What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below. View the full article
