  1. Continuing his fine run this season, Lewis Hamilton clinched the first-place finish at the Circuit de Catalunya in the Spanish Grand Prix on 12th May. The Brit finished ahead of his Mercedes teammate Valterri Bottas and Max Verstappen who finished second and third respectively. While the top spots at the podium once again eluded Ferrari, Mercedes extended their record-breaking run to five-successive one-two finishes this season. Attempting to take a sixth world championship and third in a row, Hamilton's form is ominously strong and his 76th career victory was a befitting testimony to that. If his brilliant showing on the race track had everyone singing his praise, Hamilton's touching gesture for his special fan further won over fans. © Reuters Ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, Hamilton received a special video from Harry Shaw who has been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. According to reports, the five-year-old boy was recently given just one week to live. The video shows Harry, wearing a Mercedes cap and lying next to a signed Hamilton picture in his London hospital bed, giving a message to the Brit driver: "Hello Lewis Hamilton. Good luck winning the race in Spain and thank you for all of the gifts. Lots of love from Harry and goodbye". View this post on Instagram Harry, you don't know how much this message means to me buddy. Thank you so much, you are my inspiration today Harry. I will try to make you proud. You are such a strong boy, I wish I was as strong as you, I wanted the world to see how strong you are and ask everyone to send their best wishes and prayers to you during this hard time. Sending you love Harry. God bless you. Your friend, Lewis #keepfighting #nevergiveup #wewinandwelosetogether A post shared by Lewis Hamilton (@lewishamilton) on May 12, 2019 at 2:59am PDT Sharing the kid's video on his Instagram handle, Hamilton said: "Harry, you don't know how much this message means to me buddy. Your friend, Lewis". And, Hamilton did make Shaw proud by winning the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday. Following his triumph, Hamilton also dedicated his victory to the youngster who inspired him to secure a podium finish. "I got a great message from this young kid called Harry and he just became my spirit angel," the Mercedes driver said after the race. © Reuters "When I woke up this morning, I was a bit lost and wondering how today was going to go. Then I saw that message and I was like, 'I see you, Harry, I've got you'. I was looking for inspiration and something to grab to, so I dedicate today's race to him. You try to go out there and do something for someone. It doesn't always turn out as well as it has but I hope he is watching. I will be sending him a message shortly after this, and we are going to try and do something special for him," he added. Well, Hamilton did reveal that he will try to do something special for Shaw, but no one would have possibly anticipated what was in store for the youngster. In a heartfelt gesture, Hamilton and Mercedes sent one of their Formula One (F1) cars to Shaw's home in Redhill. The lucky kid, cradled in his father James' arm, was then shown around Hamilton's F1 car by a Mercedes employee. .@LewisHamilton has brought the smile back to a boy fighting the final days of his young life. Hamilton dedicated his Grand Prix victory to Harry Shaw from Surrey. The Mercedes team hastily arranged for one of their cars to park outside Harry's home as @samholdertv reports pic.twitter.com/qdphRn3MP8 — ITV London (@itvlondon) May 13, 2019 Owing to his rare medical condition, Shaw was outdoors for the first time in three weeks. The youngster was also presented with Hamilton's winning trophy from the race in Barcelona and a pair of the world champion's racing gloves. Apart from that, there was also a personal video message of support recorded by Hamilton which was shown to Shaw. "I cannot describe how much it means to us all that Lewis won the race for Harry, and then dedicated it to Harry, too," his father James Shaw said. "At a tremendously difficult time in our lives, this has provided us with a big boost, and a big smile. Harry couldn't believe that Lewis Hamilton was talking about him, and had dedicated the race to him. He now thinks that Lewis is his absolute best friend, which, for a five-year-old boy, is amazing. Harry loves cars, and although he is frail, he was asking about the exhaust pipe," he added. © Twitter/@HarrysPledge5 Over the years, we've seen numerous sportspersons dominating their respective fields and earning laurels. But, far away from their titles, trophies and accolades, it's their conduct and demeanour away from sports - like the touching gesture of Hamilton for a young cancer-stricken boy - that truly makes a sportsperson great.
  2. Bodybuilders are worshipped by every gym-going bro who wants to develop a good physique. They would go to any extent to follow the advice and suggestions given by these pro-bodybuilders. People take them as their guru and a source of magic to help them achieve the same conditioning and more often than not, their advice is really non-sensical without any basis. The following pointers hold true for 90 per cent of pro-bodybuilders: 1) They do not have ample knowledge on exercise or nutrition science. 2) They have built their physiques using anabolic steroids. 3) They do not even perform some exercises with the right form. Here are the top 5 pieces of advice they tend to give you, which you should watch out for: 1) Eat Clean Foods Like Rice, Chicken, Etc To Get Shredded: Calories come from all foods and beverages. You can include some junk foods with your nutritious ones. Your body needs micronutrients and vitamins. You don't have to eat rice, chicken and broccoli for all your meals. Keep some varieties so that you don't get bored. 2) Close-Grip Bench Works Your Inner Chest: No exercise can work your "inner chest.” To improve the development of your inner chest, it is simply important to fully shorten your pec muscles and do a full range of motion. Much like a biceps curl “for peak” forces your muscle to be fully shortened and thereby grow upward, the same idea goes for inner chest. 3) Fasted Cardio Burns More Fat Than Fed-State Cardio: Nope! Never been proven. In fact, in scientific literature, it has been shown that cardio (or any exercise) is done after consuming calories has a greater thermogenic effect that is, more calories are burned. Simply don't force yourself into fasted cardio if you do not enjoy it. 4) Stretch Your Muscles And Hold Them For 20 Seconds. The FST-7 Concept: Your fascia does not stretch! It's a proven fact that fascia has the tensile force of steel. It may expand, much like muscle does when it gets warm, and become more flexible, but as soon as it cools, it's right back to where it started. Fascia grows in much the same way muscle does. You may break fascial adhesions, which gives the concept of expansion or greater range this is a great thing! but sadly, it's not stretching to allow for muscle growth. Increase your volume to grow your muscle via adding sets or load or reps, and the fascia will see a need to adapt and expand. 5) Eat Tilapia To Thin Your Skin: This is a big claim coming from bodybuilders. Any food item has no relation to your skin. To get paper thin skin, you need to lose body fat. You have to drop down your fat below 8 per cent and but staying below 8 per cent for a long time can drop down your performance and *** drive. 3. While we're happy for Ranbir Kapoor when he gave us 'Sanju', the biggest hit of 2018, there are some movies he perhaps inadvertently didn't give his all too, which plummeted at the box office. Why're we telling you this? Well, because when he was giving us back-to-back flops films like 'Besharam' (2014), 'Roy' (2015), 'Tamasha' (2015) and 'Jagga Jasoos' (2017), he was actually trolled by a cop and asked to stop doing so! © Fox Star Studios Well, not literally trolled but recently the actor attended the Umang Police Show 2019 and narrated an incident when a cop asked him to stop one night and upon recognising him, gave him a lecture about his career and how he shouldn't give any more flops and instead, suggested he does a film where he plays a policeman! © Eros International Ranbir went onto stage and narrated the incident to Shah Rukh Khan who was also on stage with him and other prominent guests who were amidst the audience. The cop first stopped his car and upon recognising him, he took a picture with Ranbir, only to sit and give him some detailed career advice on how his next film should be a one where he plays a cop. © Viral Bhayani I mean I wish it was so easy to stop most Bollywood actors and and give them some unsolicited advice on some things they probably shouldn't have done! But I guess the Mumbai policeman was lucky enough to encounter one of the biggest stars in Bollywood and sit him down over some serious talk. © Instagram Watch the video of Ranbir narrating this during the Umang Police Show 2019! Video: Ranbir Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan and Manish Paul on stage. #Umang2019 #umangpoliceshow2019 #RanbirKapoor #Ranbir #ShahRukhKhan #ManishPaul #Bollywood A post shared by Ranbir Kapoor Universe (@ranbirkapooruniverse) on Jan 27, 2019 at 10:00am PST But on an endearing note, I believe it was quite sweet of the cop to suggest something like that to Ranbir, since the policeman would actually want a fine actor to emulate the role of a policeman in a film. If directors do have any good scripts or ideas for a cop-based film, they should definitely get in touch with Ranbir, as he's told the cop he'd be open to doing it, but hasn't had a chance yet. Well, here's hoping Ranbir!
  4. Today is a landmark day in history for everyone fighting for justice in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, as Congress leader Sajjan Kumar was declared guilty by the Delhi High Court today and was awarded a life sentence. © ANI This judgement follows CBI's acquittal of Kumar, who has now been given a deadline of 31st December to surrender and is also liable to pay a fine of Rs. 5 lakhs. The entire nation is obviously lauding this landmark development and celebrating the judgement. Finally the wheels of justice are moving. Sajjan Kumar gets life sentence in the 1984 state sponsored Sikh genocide. Prime Minister Modi's govt facilitated the re-investigation and formed a SIT to investigate the 1984 genocide. Judiciary looked at all the cases afresh. #Respect — Amit Malviya (@amitmalviya) December 17, 2018 I am at Patiala Court today An impt verdict awaited...Sajjan Kumar case of murder of 5 Sikhs during #1984SikhGenocide at Raj Nagar Praying to Almighty - Justice be delivered to Victims of massacre ðð» It would be a big slap on @RahulGandhi face who is supporting butchers of 1984 — Manjinder S Sirsa (@mssirsa) December 17, 2018 #WATCH: HS Phoolka and Manjinder Singh Sirsa celebrate outside Delhi High Court. The Court today sentenced Congress leader Sajjan Kumar to life imprisonment in 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. pic.twitter.com/tpPSgjvDjO — ANI (@ANI) December 17, 2018 The other names in the list include the likes of Jagdish Tytler and Kamal Nath amongst others. Ironically, on a day when Kumar was convicted, Kamal Nath swore in as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Sajjan Kumar convicted in 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, Delhi High Court cancels acquittal. Another accused Kamal Nath will take oath as CM today. — Rana Ayyub (@RanaAyyub) December 17, 2018 Ironical that on the day Sajjan Kumar gets life sentence for his role in state sponsored Sikh genocide of 1984, another man named by an eye witness, an IE reporter, for leading a mob that killed two Sikhs in Gurudwara Rakabganj will be sworn in as Congress CM of Madhya Pradesh. — Amit Malviya (@amitmalviya) December 17, 2018 Even though deliverance of justice cannot bring back the lives that were lost, one can still take solace from the fact that at least the wheels of justice are moving in the right direction. I welcome Delhi High Court verdict convicting Sajjan Kumar in 1984 riots case. It has been a very long n painful wait for innocent victims who were murdered by those in power. Nobody involved in any riot should be allowed to escape no matter how powerful the individual maybe. — Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) December 17, 2018 But then, there are others who are arguing that the verdict has come in a little too late. It took our justice system 24 years to convict Sajjan Kumar! For 24 years, despite committing mass murders, he was a free man & politician. Despite being a criminal, he lived a high life. Frankly think that judgment today ordering life to Sajjan Kumar is too little & too late! — Swati Maliwal (@SwatiJaiHind) December 17, 2018 Sajjan Kumar's conviction by the Delhi High Court is a delayed vindication of Justice. The Congress and the Gandhi family legacy will continue to pay for the sins of 1984 riots. — Arun Jaitley (@arunjaitley) December 17, 2018 It is a very big day in the history of Indian politics. Let us hope the lamp of justice continues to shine brightly and everyone guilty in the case meets the same fate as Sajjan Kumar.
  5. We are no strangers to the gazillion superstitions our moms and grandparents seem to believe in. We have literally grown up watching them follow weird beliefs, some of which they even forced us to follow, whether we liked it or not. While most of us feel these beliefs are baseless, over the years a lot of people have managed to provide probable reasons as to why such superstitions are followed in our country so faithfully. Whether there is any truth in them or not, is not what we're about to discuss. Instead, our focus today is to take up a few, popular superstitions in our society that even men have followed at least once, at some point in time. Whether it was because you were young and gullible or because you fret over things going bad, no matter the reasons, you ended up believing it and gave in to this craziness. 1. Teen Tigada, Kaam Bigada © Excel entertainment Can we get over this one? This was such a regular during our playground meetups or when we divided up our teams for a match. Nobody wanted to add an extra third player for the fear of the rest of them screaming “teen tigada, kaam bigada” at the top of their voice. It kinda almost felt we might end up losing the match after all. 2. Kaali Billi Ne Rasta Kaat Diya, Ruk Jao Kisi Aur Ko Pehle Jaane Do © Flickr None of us can claim that this has never happened to us. It was as if ever since we came across this saying, all the black cats in the locality conspired to cross our path at all the wrong times. We still remember the fear it evoked when we had similar rendezvous on important days of exams and results. We ensured somebody else crossed the road ahead of us. 3. Mangalvaar Ko Maans-Macchi Nahi Khana © Twitter The no non-veg on Tuesday policy is so strong, some of us still follow it without second thoughts. Turning vegetarian every Tuesday seemed absurd, yet unknowingly consuming non-vegetarian food on the day would give us the most terrorising mini heart attacks. 4. Mangalvaar Aur Guruvaar Ko Baal Matt Kaatna © Instagram No haircut or shave on Tuesdays and Thursdays is another one that mothers ensured their kids followed with no questions asked. Of course, all of us have been tempted to break the rule and see what might happen. Some have even dared to go ahead with it, but the fear of the unknown in these situations is for real. 5. Number 13 Ka Prakop © Maxpixel Though most people say it is a western belief, this superstition finds a lot of takers in India too. From the fear of Friday the 13th to some people avoiding rooms and house numbers with the double-digit, 13 evokes a pretty creepy feeling when you think of it. Bad luck or not, everybody wants to stay away from it. 6. Itni Saari Hichki? Pakka Koi Yaad Kar Raha Hai © Vinod chopra films Even though it is mostly the ladies in our lives who say it, repeating it often almost makes us think that there is some truth to it. It is said that sudden hiccups mean someone is thinking of you and a series of them would quickly catch people's attention. However, when they repeated this a few times over, it made us really consider who might be thinking of us right that very moment. Our crush, hopefully? 7. Haath Mein Khujli, Paise Milenge! © T-Series This one is pretty common too. We have heard a lot of people say it and many people believe it too. An itchy left palm is said to be an indication of monetary profit, and well, who wouldn't love that? This one is something that many of us would gladly like to believe. 8. Raat Ko Peepal Ke Ped Ke Aas Paas Nahi Ghumna Chaiye © Clean Slate Films This one sounded so spooky when we were little. Yes, there were times when we really wanted to confirm those ghost stories, of Peepal trees being haunted by ghosts, but we wonder how many really did go in the dead of the night to confirm this. It seems funny now that the mighty tree could scare us once, right? Tell us, which ones did you believe in? Be honest.

In a video which was shared last year, Kohli was very vocal about this grand gesture. “They always support their team very passionately and I am sure it will be a challenge when we go to England. But to have received such an honour from them makes me feel proud of playing for my nation. I want to thank you all once again from the bottom of my heart and look forward to catching up with all of you when we come to England next year. Hopefully, we can have some interaction off the field also, cheers thank you”. It sure feels great when your captain cool gets the recognition which he deserves.
