  3. Rumours and leaks in the past have suggested Samsung is planning to follow Apple’s footsteps and remove the charger from the box of its upcoming Galaxy S21 series of smartphones. Samsung will be announcing the new phones later tonight but that did not stop reliable leaker Evan Blass from sharing images of the official Galaxy S21 website. In the images, it confirms that Samsung’s new smartphones will come without a charger in the box. © Twitter_We The Techies Blass tweeted images of what he claims to be the official webpage of the Galaxy S21 and S21 Ultra. Apart form the phone having a new design, hardware and 5G support, the new phone will not have a charger in the box. From a section of the website called “What’s in the box,” it clearly states that the new smartphone will come with “just what you need.” The packing list includes a USB-C cable, the SIM-ejection tool, and a start guide. Samsung also claims that the decision was made to help the environment, similar to Apple’s reading behind the drastic step. “Galaxy S21 5G comes packaged with just what you need — USB Type-C data and charging cable, ejection pin and Quick Start Guide. Just another way of being good to the environment” the website image said. © Twitter_Evan Blass Samsung initially made fun of Apple for removing the charger from the box but quickly backtracked by deleting the mocking images shared by one of the company’s social media handles. The post emphasised that Samsung smartphones still come with an included power adapter however it was later deleted once rumours about the Galaxy S21 started to emerge. pic.twitter.com/d6Ty9sW2RS — Evan Blass (@evleaks) January 13, 2021 Having said that, it will be far easier for existing Samsung customers to older charger or use third-party chargers as past phones have been bundled with USB-C chargers. Samsung smartphones also support PD + PPE fast-charging protocols which means you will be able to use any third-party power delivery charger with the Galaxy S21. The first hands-on images of the phone have also leaked on Twitter before its eventual launch later today. The phone’s design is almost identical to what we’ve seen from leaks where both moth models have multiple camera lenses and a new camera module design. Samsung is also offering pre-order benefits alongside the new Galaxy S21 smartphones according to the website leak. Customers will be able to get the new Galaxy Buds Live and the Galaxy SmartTag for free with pre-orders. Galaxy S21 Ultra customers will get the newly rumoured Galaxy Buds Pro and the Galaxy SmartTag for free with pre-orders. View the full article

  7. FAU-G, a game by Indian company nCORE Games now has an official launch date and the timing could not be more perfect. The game is set to launch on 26th January, Republic Day as it was announced via a teaser trailer. The trailer showed us what the game entails and gave a preview of the Ladakh episode where Indian soldiers will be battling against PLA troops. © nCore-Games The game is also going to feature an episode surrounding the Galwan valley incident which was first teased last year on Dusshera. The trailer did not reveal any gameplay mechanics or features of the game which we should know closer to the launch. The game features dialogue in Punjabi and it isn’t clear at the moment whether FAU-G will also have support for other languages. © nCore-Games FAU-G has already received over one million pre-registration in 24 hours and it would be interesting to see how the first-person shooter game will handle the multiplayer aspects. The game was announced soon after the PUBG Mobile ban in India, capitalising on the void left by the popular battle-royal game. Having said that, nCore Games has already confirmed that FAU-G will be very different from PUBG and may not have a battle-royals mode at launch. What will you do when they come? We will hold our ground & fight back, because we are Fearless. United. Unstoppable FAU:G! Witness the anthem FAU:G! #FAUG #nCore_Games Pre-register now https://t.co/4TXd1F7g7J Launch 26/1@vishalgondal @akshaykumar @dayanidhimg pic.twitter.com/VGpBZ3HaOS — nCORE Games (@nCore_games) January 3, 2021 The game will instead have missions or episodes which indicates it might be more of a single-player experience at the moment. Fau-G has been marred with delays in the past, however, it seems like development has been on track for now and will launch in the coming weeks. The game is currently available for pre-registration on Google Play right now and will be available to play on Republic Day. We could expect more “episodes” to be added in the near future, however, the company has not shared a roadmap for now. View the full article

  10. The OnePlus 9 series of phones are still months away from being officially announced. However, there's already a OnePlus 9 prototype out there in the wild, thanks to eBay. That's right, a OnePlus 9 prototype, that recently surfaced online in a leak, ended up on eBay. It was actually picked up by someone for $6,000. That roughly translates to around Rs 4.4 lakh which is indeed a lot of money for a smartphone. Upon closer inspection, the unit on eBay is the same one that appeared in the mid-December leak. Here, check it out - Here's a prototype of the OnePlus 9 5G. These images come from an eBay seller/listing that seems to be the same source that gave live images to @PhoneArena recently. eBay listing: https://t.co/YSOx3IrfEf Archive: https://t.co/P094gF342S H/T @Deadman_Android pic.twitter.com/LBcu3lvwQw — Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman) December 26, 2020 This prototype was not meant for normal day-to-day usage. Prototypes are usually meant for internal usage and for testing purposes. The fact that it got leaked and then got listed on eBay is just unfortunate. We're sure it'll be very easy for OnePlus to just track down the unit and find out its whereabouts. © eBay The listing clearly mentions that the device could attract a penalty from OnePlus. They can even remotely disable the unit, making it completely useless. So yes, it's probably just a better idea to wait for the retail unit that's expected to drop sometime in March. 11. Xiaomi has officially launched the new Mi 11 smartphone in China. It comes with a new design and upgraded specs and it gives a good look at what to expect from high-end flagship phones in 2021. On the front, it sports a 6.81-inch display with support for up to 120Hz refresh rate. What's more interesting is that it has a resolution of 3200x1440 and it's an AMOLED panel too. On paper, it sounds like one of the best smartphone displays, so we can't wait to check it out in person. © Xiaomi The Mi 11 is powered by the new Snapdragon 888 SoC and comes with up to 12GB RAM. As you'd expect, the Mi 11 supports Wifi 6 and 5G. But sadly, the phone will not come with a charger in the box. This was already confirmed by the CEO Lei Jun, so we're not entirely surprised. In terms of the optics, the Mi 11 sports a triple camera setup at the back which includes a 108-megapixel main sensor, a five-megapixel telephoto, and a 13 megapixel ultra-wide. It'll be interesting to see how the camera performs. Lastly, it's also worth pointing out that the Mi 11 supports faster 50W wireless charging for its 4,600 mAh battery. The Chinese version of the phone is available for pre-order today and it starts shipping on January 1. The base model of the Mi 11 is priced at 3,999 Yuan which roughly translates to around Rs 45,000. We don't know the pricing of the other versions, but we're sure they'll be adjusted when it arrives in other markets. Overall, the Mi 11 looks like a very promising phone and we can't wait to check it out. As of now, there's no info about its arrival in India, so we'll just have to wait for more info. In the meantime, you can check out the Mi 10T Pro that was launched not too long ago in India. View the full article
  12. It starts innocently with an iPhone, and before you know it, Apple has taken over your life. Your phone, your laptop, your watch, your earphones, literally almost every single electronic you own is Apple. And, as if Apple hadn't completely taken over our lives already, now they're also planning on launching a car in a few years. © Pexels According to Reuters, Apple is officially getting into self-driving car technology with a plan to produce a passenger vehicle by 2024. Moreover, it could also include its own breakthrough battery technology. Apple actually has been at it since 2014, when they launched Project Titan, but that was put on the back burner. They're coming back strong, it seems, and have plans to distinguish themselves from the competition as well. © Apple Reportedly, the new battery design could "radically" reduce the cost of batteries and increase the vehicle's range. Well, going by the battery of iPhones, it doesn't sound that promising, but we'll just have to wait and see. Of course, when it comes to Apple, the first thing people do is make jokes and memes, and an Apple car is already giving people so much roasting material. Cool name. iMobile. 13. OnePlus will finally launch its own smartwatch in 2021 as confirmed by CEO Pete Lau on Twitter. The company will be making a foray into wearables for the first time but there aren’t any more details available about the upcoming device. There have been rumours that the smartwatch will work on Google’s WearOS but it is still uncertain what operating system the smartwatch will use. © Youtube/Techy Imran The date for the launch of the smartwatch has not been set but there is a good chance it might launch alongside the OnePlus 9 next year. OnePlus has been experimenting with a smartwatch for years, “We had completed the design but we still decided to scrap it,” Lau said in an interview with Wall Street Journal. “We have to be focused” he added. Many of you said you wanted a watch, and as you might have heard over the weekend—we're making one, to be released early next year. Wishes do come true. https://t.co/H1Fqv9srXj — Pete Lau (@PeteLau) December 22, 2020 OnePlus has been taking baby steps and launching products beyond smartphones such as the new OnePlus TWS earphones. The company was also said to be working on a power bank but we haven’t seen any more news on that front yet. © Oppo OnePlus launching a new smartwatch isn’t that surprising as its sister company OPPO launched its own Oppo Watch earlier this year. The two companies have adopted similar strategies in the past including sharing smartphone designs since both companies are owned by the massive conglomerate BBK Electronics. It could be possible that the OnePlus watch might take some inspiration from the Oppo Watch but we will know more once it is revealed by the company next year. View the full article
  14. Even though Cyberpunk 2077 has faced enough backlash from players on last-gen consoles, CD Projekt Red has managed to sell 13 million copies of the game. The official number was spotted by analyst Daniel Ahmad in a disclosure by the studio even after factoring in refunds for the game around the globe. The sales numbers factors in sales across all platforms i.e. PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic Stories and CD Projekt’s own GOG.com. The company saw more than 8 million pre-orders before release and saw over 1 million players playing the game at the same time on Steam, highest for any single-player game so far. © Cd Projekt Red The game has generated over $780 million in revenue if we calculate the 13 million sales figures with the retail price of the game. This puts the game amongst the highest selling games of all time and is in good company such as Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2. CD Projekt Red says that it has sold 13 million copies of Cyberpunk through digital and physical distribution channels as of December 20. This number factors in refunds processed by this point at both retail / digital. The game had 8m pre-orders prior to launch. pic.twitter.com/ZIg4j9nDeB — Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX) December 22, 2020 The game has seen controversy ever since it launched as the game is marred with bugs and unplayable on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This prompted companies like Sony and Microsoft to issue refunds for games that were bought digitally. Sony even went further as the Japanese console maker removed the game from its digital storefront last week. © MensXP_CD Projekt Red Usually, game publishers aren’t really candid about sharing sales figures, but CD Projekt Red declared these numbers due to financial reasons. "The Management Board has decided to disclose the above information in the form of a current report due to its potential impact on investment-related decisions,” the company said. Soon after the game was removed from Sony’s digital store, CD Projekt Red’s stock dropped by 22 percent and reduced its market capitalisation by $1.8 billion. The developers at CD Projekt Red are hard at work to fix the game’s performance issues on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The studio has already issued two hotfixes that have improved the game’s performance but more fixes are expected to be released in January and February 2021. We played the game on PC and did not experience any game-breaking bugs and you can read all about it here. View the full article

  17. POCO has launched a couple of new good phones this year after its short break. We're super excited to see what POCO has in store for us next year. And if the reports are something to go by, then it looks like we have some really cool things coming from the company. According to a new report, it looks like POCO is working on a new laptop. We don't have any official confirmation or teasers for the same. But what we do have a screenshot of BIS certification shared by a reliable tipster, Mukul Sharma. Here, check it out - 2 new laptop batteries (R15B02W, R14B02W)have now received the Indian BIS certification, but this time they are listed under the POCO branding. POCO laptops? #Xiaomi #POCO pic.twitter.com/fNeP3kEFTG — Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) December 17, 2020 As you can see, the certification shows two battery models under POCO and the Mi brand. This points towards the possibility of Mi laptops being rebranded as POCO laptops for the Indian market. POCO has already launched rebranded products here in India, so this doesn't really come as a surprise. image 1 - POCO That being said, there's no official confirmation on the same, so it's best if we reserve our speculations for later when we have more info. The company is expected to drop some teasers at the beginning of next year, and we can't wait for that. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of it. We'll keep an eye on the updates and share more info in the coming weeks and months. View the full article

  19. The Galaxy S21 is expected to launch soon and before it could even become official, the pricing for the phone may have leaked. The phone is expected to launch on January 14th and we are most likely to hear more about the phone before it launches in the coming weeks. Samsung has already confirmed that the higher end models of the Galaxy S21 will also feature support for the S Pen stylus. Today, a new leak suggests the phones will have a lower price tag than its predecessor as well. © LetsGoDigital A new leak by GalaxyClub has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S21 series will be cheaper than the Galaxy S20 series this year. The website claims the 128GB model of the Galaxy S21 is expected to start at €879 (Rs 79,197.02), which is less than the €999 price tag of the Galaxy S20 model. The S21+ model is also expected to be priced lower than its predecessor and is expected to cost €1,079 (Rs 97,216.82). Of course, do keep in mind that these prices will be different for India as Samsung tends to practice regional pricing and does not directly convert the international price for its smartphones. However, the leak does give us a chance to speculate that even the Indian models will be cheaper than the Galaxy S20 Series. © LetsGoDigital Having said that, not all is rosy when it comes to pricing as the Galaxy S21 Ultra is expected to be a bit costlier than the Galaxy S20 Ultra this time around. The new phone is expected to cost €50 more than its predecessor, at €1,399. This could be possible as Samsung plans to bring S Pen support for the higher-end models and that somewhat justifies the slightly higher price. Samsung has also confirmed that even though S Pen features will be available on at least one of the S21 models, the South Korean giant does not plan to discontinue the Galaxy Note series in 2021. 20. New leaks this week indicate that Apple is working on a lower price point truly wireless earphones that are expected to launch sometime in 2021. The new earphones will be slightly more affordable than the current AirPods Pro and higher than the regular AirPods with the wired charging case. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The Elec cites their sources from the supply chain and says we can expect a new pair of AirPods in the year 2021. These truly wireless earphones are expected to borrow design cues from the AirPods Pro albeit not have all of the same features. Apple is in the process of replacing the regular AirPods with the so-called ‘AirPods Pro Lite’ in their stores. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The new AirPods Pro Lite will come with a wireless charging case and will be a value proposition that is similar to Apple’s recent attempts for various products from its portfolio. These new TWS earphones will also likely phase out the classic AirPods as the products will have similar features but an improved design. © 52Audio The AirPods Pro Lite would also have silicon tips like the Pro model and a similar charging case. It is possible that the battery size would be different than the AirPods Pro as it will not feature Active Noise Cancellation. A person familiar with the matter told The Elec that the Lite version will be priced 20% cheaper than the normal AirPods Pro. The third generation of AirPods may launch at a cheaper price point than the current AirPods Pro. However, pricing details of the device could change. Supply chain leaks provide accurate information about features and designs, however pricing predictions are mostly based on assumptions. We should know more next year if Apple launches the new AirPods Pro Lite alongside other products at a future event. Source: The Elec View the full article
  21. Samsung has overtaken the conversation about foldable phones in the past two years and it seems like the company will be doubling down on the new screen tech. While foldable phones have been a niche product for the past two years, it seems like 2021 is going to be the year where we see multiple devices by multiple companies. Samsung is not going to hold back and will be launching four foldable phones in 2021. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Previous reports have suggested Samsung is expected to release multiple foldable devices but a new report by Korean site ET News suggests there will be four folding phones by Samsung in 2021. There are expected to be two variants of the next Galaxy Fold 3 and two variants of the Galaxy Z Flip 2 as well. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Foldable phones are rather expensive to own at the moment but it seems like one of the variants will be an affordable version. Multiple reports have suggested that Samsung might launch a Galaxy Fold FE which will be a cheaper version of the Fold 3. ET News also claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 "will be available in high-end and general models.” © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla All four models are expected to support 5G connectivity but there will be some differences in performance and features. While there isn’t more news about the specific models, Samsung is expected to launch the four foldable phones sometime in the second half of 2021. The Galaxy Fold 2 is one of our favourite phones of 2021, however it does cost Rs 1.50 lakh in India. The phone was a bit more expensive than its predecessor and it would be interesting to see how Samsung tackles the more affordable version of the phone. Source: ET News View the full article
  22. Apple is still reportedly working on its self-driving car, however, we haven’t heard much of it until today. According to sources, Apple has been recruiting senior executives from the automotive industry and poaching talents from companies like Tesla. Apple has also started talks with major suppliers of vehicle electronics to gear up for production in the U.S. © Reuters Apple has partnered with their trusted chip supplier TSMC to develop self-driving chips for Apple cars. TSMC is already Apple’s partner for procuring semiconductors for most of their products such as the iPhone, iPad and now, even the Macbook. While we haven’t heard much about when the self-driving cars would be available for launch, sources say Apple may unveil its vehicles in 2024-2025. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple has also shifted its leadership to John Giannandrea who is the company’s head of artificial intelligence. He also oversees the voice-based digital assistant Siri. Not much is known about Apple’s ‘Project Titan’ as the company has been extremely tight-lipped about the project and its testing in California. © Macrumors Project Titan has also seen its fair share of drama as in 2019, an Apple employee of Chinese nationality was accused by the FBI for stealing trade secrets. These secrets were related to Apple’s self-driving project. Apple also acquired a self-driving startup called Drive.ai in June 2019 and hired many of its engineers for Project Titan. What do you think about Apple’s self-driving project? Do you think it will be better than the other players in the market? It would be interesting to see if Apple brings something new to the table with its autonomous cars as we’ve already seen iterations from other automobile manufacturers.
