  1. The PUBG craze made its way into this world one fine day, and our world ceased to exist as we knew it. All it took was one game, and we were left ensnared by the completely mind-blowing game that it is. However, recently, one Gurgaon dude took his PUBG fancy to new levels by scripting a PUBG-inspired advertisement looking for a potential flatmate in a posh Gurgaon locality. True, we look at numerous factors before deciding to move into a few flat, more so if it's a flat where you will be living with four or five other strangers. (c) Facebook Not only did the facilities and the offer catch people's attention with this ad, but people were also thoroughly impressed with how the guy had incorporated elements of PUBG into the advertisement, making it an instant hit with the players. Posted on a FB group called 'Flat and Flatmates', the dude listed out a number of crucial details for a potential flatmate calling their home the 'Battleground' and stating that there are no restrictions (such as muting the audio) for anyone looking to move-in. (c) PUBG People, especially gamers and fans, have responded positively to the creative ad. People have even gone on to call it one of the best ads on the group. What an innovative way of exploring the PUBG fever. We'd sure want to check out the place. What about you?
  2. Be it 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' or 'Mary Kom', biopics based on sports stars are a sure shot formula for success and filmmakers are always eager to tap into this arena. Bollywood is increasingly looking to sports for inspiration for their stories, and with good reason too. We have had many biopics that have had a successful run at the box office. Earlier, reports stated that Tiger Shroff had been approached for the biopic on Indian football legend Bhaichung Bhutia, which will be helmed by Anand Kumar. Talking about the development, our source said, “Tiger had gone to meet Anand Kumar. Yes, he was approached for the movie and he did like the script. But, his dates and schedules are tightly packed. He might say a no to doing the biopic. That's what is known till now. Tiger is not saying anything official for now. As far as his dates and schedules are concerned, he won't be able to take it up.” View this post on Instagram #inbetweenshots #takingafewshots #ð· @shariquealy A post shared by Tiger Shroff (@tigerjackieshroff) on Dec 21, 2017 at 10:03pm PST When the speculations of the film started to float around, Bhutia had shared that he was honoured to have his life put together in a biopic. Tiger would have been a perfect fit for the role considering his fitness levels and how athletic he is. If not Tiger, then who do you think can play Bhaichung Bhutia on the big screen? Let us know in the comments below.
  3. When you are looking to buy a new smartphone, the first thing people ask me is, “How's the camera?” That's a question I have to answer for budget and flagship smartphones. With mobile photography becoming more popular thanks to social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat, users need smartphones that can take great pictures, last long and deliver a smooth experience. Google answered that question with the Pixel 3, however, it really isn't affordable for everyone. Google announced the much more affordable Pixel 3a and 3a XL that delivers the same computational photography advantage as its flagship counterpart. It's got some key differences but overall offers a great value for money. Here's what we think about the new Pixel 3a XL and how our experience has been with the smartphone: Design & Display © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla When it comes to the design, the Pixel 3a Xl is very similar to the Pixel 3 in terms of looks but has some key differences. The body is now made of polycarbonate that feels very premium even though it isn't supposed to. The back has the same design as the Pixel 3 with single camera setup, a fingerprint sensor and a small Google logo at the bottom centre. It has the same minimalistic ethos as the Pixel 3 and overall has a very alluring vibe. Since the Pixel 3a is made out of polycarbonate, the device does not support wireless charging. It isn't necessary for the device however we do miss the convenience of charging it wirelessly on our bedside. The phone also has stereo speakers and the bottom audio speaker has now been moved from the chin to the bottom of the phone. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla At the front, the display is where the differences come to light as it does not have a notch design as the Pixel 3 XL. There are thick bezels at both top and bottom which gives it the classic Pixel look we've seen earlier on the smaller Pixel 3 and Pixel 2 devices. The display itself is a fullHD+ gOLED panel that is 6” in size. It has a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and has an aspect ratio of 18:9. Overall, the experience on the display was extremely satisfying especially when we would watch videos on Youtube and Netflix. In fact, the colours very vivid and the blacker shades were represented well. The viewing angles were also on point, however, were a bit disappointed with the brightness levels. The brightness level is just over 400nits which isn't enough for outdoor settings with bright sunlight. Apart from the brightness level, the display was sharp and overall a great OLED panel. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla In terms of other design aspects, the Pixel 3a also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack for people who still like the option of using their own wired headphones. This also means that the Pixel 3a is not water resistant which is not a big deal if you ask me. Our senses are now naturally trained to keep our smartphones away from water and we can live without any water resistance unless you want to pay a premium for it. Camera © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Pixel smartphones are known to offer computational photography that visibly blows the competition out of the water. It uses AI and algorithms to make it easy for the average user to take some phenomenal shots. The camera on the Pixel 3a XL works the same way it does on the Pixel 3. However, it does take a bit longer to process images due to the underpowered chipset when compared to the Pixel 3. The Pixel 3a XL can take some spectacular Portrait shots that were even better than our DSLR in many instances. Pixel 3a XL also comes with Google's Night Sight feature where it takes multiple images with different exposures and contrast levels. Google's algorithm then gives the best shot with unbelievable results. Other camera features such as Top Shot, Photobooth, Playground, Super Res Zoom, Google Lens and more are built right into the app. The Pixel 3a XL has a single 12.2MP Dual-Pixel Sony IMX363 primary camera with an aperture of ƒ/1.8. The camera sensor has a field of view of 76° and 1/2.55" Sensor Size. The primary sensor has autofocus with dual pixel phase detection and optical + electronic image stabilisation. As for the selfie camera, the devices have an 8MP with an aperture of f/2.0. It has a field of view of 84° for wider selfie shots. Google also intruded a new time-lapse mode where you can set your frames to record at various intervals. This essentially will let you record a 20-minute video and condense the final video into 10 seconds. This is a handy feature for people who like to tell visual stories via video. It can be used to show more information or video content for users who love to use Instagram's story feature. We've seen this feature on other smartphones before but it's a first for Pixel devices. Camera samples from Pixel 3a XL: Software © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The Pixel 3a runs Android Pie out of the box and will receive an Android Q update later this year. In terms of software, Google is running the same build as Pixel 3 and offers a similar experience. However, the only caveat is that it is slower than the Pixel 3 due to the processor. Having said that, the Pixel 3a XL can handle every feature such as AR navigation, reliable Google Assistant performance and overall offers a smooth pure Android experience. It even comes with Active Edge that basically lets users squeeze the side of the phone to access Google Assistant. Pixel 3a and 3a XL also come with unlimited storage for images at high quality, however, it does not store images of the original quality unless you are subscribed to additional storage on Google Drive. Other useful features such as Digital Wellbeing, Night Light and constant updates make this the best Android experience you can have on an affordable smartphone. Performance The Pixel 3a and 3a XL both come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 670 processor clocked at 2.0GHz and 1.7GHz and has been paired with 4GB of RAM. It's an underpowered chipset when compared to the Pixel 3's Snapdragon 855 processor but in order to offset this difference, Google has optimised the software for Pixel 3a. To be honest, when it came to performing basic tasks such as communication, navigation, internet browsing and emails, the phone did not falter once. In fact, we did not notice any slowdown during our testing period. Having said that, we did notice some underperformance while playing games like PUBG and when it came to processing images. The benchmark tests show the Pixel 3a has a good performance score considering the processor it's being powered by. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla There is some improvement when it comes to battery life as the Pixel 3a XL comes with a 3,700 mAh battery. The device lasted us for approximately 14 hours on a single charge and can be fast charged thanks to the supplied Power Delivery or PD charger. In just 15 minutes our review unit would go from 5% to 45% and add an additional 6 hours of battery backup. Having said that, we expect the battery life to improve over time with future updates and remains our only concern in the performance department. The Final Say We live in a country where it gets harder to recommend smartphones because of what it has on offer. The Pixel 3a XL offers the best photography you can find on a smartphone for its price. The Pixel 3A XL is priced in India for Rs 44,999 which is a bit hard to recommend when considering other options in the same price bracket. Having said that, if you look beyond the price you get a great smartphone that delivers amazing photography at a reduced cost. In fact, with the Pixel 3a, Google just proved that great imaging on smartphones is not reserved only for flagship smartphones.
  4. AirPods is now more of a cultural phenomenon than any other product from Apple's portfolio. It was Apple's solution for removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 and since then, it has taken the world with storm. Apple has now offered a new version of the AirPods that offers a lot of features which it already did along with a few incremental upgrades. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The new AirPods offer more talk time and have a new H1 Chip that enables quicker Siri access. It comes with a wireless charging case that can be charged using any Qi-wireless charger. The new updates may not be enough of a reason to upgrade if you already own AirPods, but the new iteration still holds the throne of wireless earbuds. Setting It Up Is Easy And Flawless © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The one feature I love the most on the AirPods is the easy setup process that nobody has been able to match up to so far. Each time you open the case, the AirPods automatically connect to your iPhone. Being an integral part of Apple's ecosystem, the AirPods also automatically pair with other Apple devices, thanks to iCloud. You can easily switch between devices without the need of setting it up for each said device. It works with the iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and even Android smartphones (without the support of easy setup). When pairing the AirPods with other Apple devices, you don't need to press a button or wait for it to be discovered. It just connects and works. So, What's The Difference? © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Visually, not much has changed on the new AirPods apart from the new wireless charging case. It now has an LED light on the front instead of inside the case. The case can be charged via a lightning cable or wirelessly using a Qi charging pad. The case has the same amount of battery reserve as the previous case i.e. it offers up to 24 hours of total battery life. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Like before, if you take one of the earbuds, the auto-pause feature kicks in, however, it only works with Apple devices. As for usability, the new AirPods offer the same controls as the previous generation where you can assign actions like double tap to skip a track on any of the earbuds. You can play/pause with a single tap and also fire up Siri by saying “Hey Siri.” Instead of giving volume controls on the AirPods, you can now ask Siri to turn down/up the volume. You simply have to say “Hey Siri, turn it down” and Siri will do the rest for you. We prefer this feature over manual controls as it prevents accidental touches which in turn would either pause the music or skip the track. What Does The H1 Chip Do? © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Apple H1 chip is one of the upgrades on the new AirPods that enable users to bring up Siri. The new chip can do a lot more such as extend the call time by 50 per cent. The chip also enables lower gaming lag and offers a faster connection for phone calls. The chip also improves call quality, especially in windy conditions. The H1 chip is capable of eliminated distortion caused by winds which makes your voice clearer. We tried this feature on a few phone calls sitting right under a speedy fan and no one heard any breeze on the other end of the call. Sound Quality © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Even though Apple says that there is no difference in sound quality, we felt that the sound on the new AirPods was much crisper. Maybe our previous AirPods began to age and we noticed the stark difference in sound quality, however, it's still among the best hearing wireless earbuds. Of course, there is some sound leakage simply because of the design of the earbuds. We would have preferred a better fit on the new AirPods which in turn would also prevent sound leakage. In terms of sound, the new AirPods have warmer undertones with a slight emphasis on bass. AirPods are best used for listening to track with vocals as the midrange and treble are clean and balanced. The overall sound does lack definition, however, that's due to the sound leakage we mentioned before. The overall sound may not please audiophiles, but the AirPods 2 is a matter of convenience over performance. For better sounding earbuds, we would recommend you something from Senheisser but it lacks all the bells and whistles such as good battery life, ease of connectivity and accessibility. The Final Say If you're already deeply embedded in the Apple Ecosystem, the new AirPods are your best bet at convenient audio. It offers old and new tech for Rs 18,900 and will be available to buy in India soon. The new AirPods, in our opinion, is still the king of wireless earbuds as it offers balanced features such as good battery life, respectable performance and decent sound. The competition may be getting harder but it's still hard to beat the AirPod's convenience and accessibility. The Galaxy Buds are a strong contender for the new AirPods and we will compare them soon to let you know which one is better.
  5. 2018 was the year when smartphone manufacturers tried weird ways to maximize their phone's screen-to-body ratio. From sliding mechanisms to hole-punch displays, we have everything in the market now. However, ZTE has decided to go for a different approach. ZTE's new smartphones, the Axon V and Axon S, were spotted online by Notebook Italia (https://notebookitalia.it/zte-axon-s-smartphone-monolitico-slider-laterale-28088), giving us a look at the design. Instead of, say, a notch or a punch-hole display, the new phones have a drastically different design. © Notebook Italia The Axon V, as you can see, has a notch that protrudes out of the body from the side, hosting what appears to be a selfie camera and a 3D sensor. Of course, the phone now has a full-screen display on the front, but the design looks downright ugly. This weird design, which I am just going to call the 'bottle opener notch', also raise concerns about the phone's durability, and prone to fall damage, etc. It's even hard to tell if this phone will get protective cases or not. © Notebook Italia The Axon S, on the other hand, is a bit of a relief as it sports a slider design. It's a horizontal slider as opposed to the vertical sliding mechanism seen on phones like the Mi Mix 3, but I'll take it over the Axon V. ZTE has decided to throw in all the cameras i.e. both two front-facing and three rear-facing cameras on the slider, so the device has a clean black. © Notebook Italia The front of the slider also appears to have a touch-sensitive area, which I believe, can be used for zoom control. The phone is said to have a 48-megapixel main camera along with a 19-megapixel secondary shooter. Additionally, the device also offers an in-display fingerprint scanner, 5G support, and more. © Notebook Italia It is, however, worth pointing out that there's no official word on the phones from ZTE just yet. ZTE may end up scraping the design for all we know. So for now, we suggest you take this with a pinch of salt. But nonetheless, the renders do give us an idea of what these OEMs are cooking for us.

Iron Man is up there in space right now…stranded in some dark corner…counting days to his death…alone and miserable, with depleting levels of oxygen. via GIPHY You are a damn liar if you tell me that something in you did not crack when you saw Tony's sunken face and broken spirit, issuing his last message to the love of his life- Pepper Pots. via GIPHY Obviously, Marvel fans rallied together and sent out cries for help to whoever they could. 8. While most people were busy celebrating India's 72nd Independence Day yesterday, others were busy increasing Pornhub's traffic because they were given an offer that no one, I repeat no one, can ever refuse in their right minds. via GIPHY Independence Day for brands primarily means introducing discounts and flash sale offers, and Pornhub defeated everyone by introducing the lucrative 'JAI HIND!' offer - give one week of premium access for FREE. So, what are y'all waiting for, Christmas?
  9. Keeping 'Sanju' out of this discussion, if there are two movies that have done extraordinarily well at the box-office and broken most records in recent years, it's Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' and S.S. Rajamouli's 'Baahubali: The Beginning' and 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'. While the former opened floodgates of controversy ever since the reports of its release started doing the rounds and gave us a magnanimity of Alauddin Khilji in Ranveer Singh, the latter gave us Prabhas who is probably now known as Baahubali and not by his real name. © arka media works However, had things worked the way Bhansali wanted, then people would have addressed Prabhas as both Baahubali and Maharawal Ratan Singh, the character that Shahid Kapoor played in 'Padmaavat'. Reportedly, after the insane success of 'Baahubali: The Beginning', Bhansali offered the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh to Prabhas in the movie that was then titled 'Padmavati'. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were signed for the role of the goddess queen Rani Padmavati and the cruel king Alauddin Khilji. Bhansali was so impressed with Prabhas' performance as Baahubali that he decided to cast his at the courageous Maharawal Ratan Singh. © viacom 18 motion pictures According to a report in Quint, Prabhas who was then working on 'Baahubali 2' was also open to work with Bhansali but once he heard the narration and the his role, he declined from being a past of Bhansali's ambitious project. Since Maharawal Ratan Singh did not have a 'meaty role', Prabhas felt that his 5 years long hard work and the image he built will lose its impact. In fact, he was looking for a character that was as strong as that of Deepika Padukone. Honestly, has Prabhas taken up the role, he could have fulfilled his dream of becoming a king. But, he declined the offer and the role went to Shahid Kapoor who did a brilliant job as the brave, fearless and courageous Rajput king. Source: The Quint
  10. The purpose of this post is to maintain a record of a promotional offer made by Wisden on the evening of March 29, the day Australian captain Steve Smith had his terrible public mea culpa in a press conference in Australia. Wisden posted a tweet of their offer. Their promotions page also (screenshot below from here and here, with my thanks) detailed this offer. These details are as follows: Wisden evidently realized that this was being received poorly. They deleted their tweet and edited their subscriptions page to remove the language about this subscription offer. This deletion was done without warning, and followed by the terse tweet saying "Apologies for any offence in our previous tweet - a misjudgement", which omits any information about what the previous tweet was about and why it was deleted. Wisden's very next post was of Steve Smith press conference. Wisden has, to date, not provided any details about who thought up the promotions offer, or why the offer was withdrawn.
