  1. At the beginning of this month, Apex Legends was announced, a Battle Royale game that is free-to-play just like PUBG and Fortnite. The game is developed by Respawn and Electronic Arts and is available for download on PS4, Xbox One, and Origin for PC. © KnowTechie Last week, Respawn revealed that the game has hit 25 million total players and had "well over" 2 million concurrent players during the weekend. If we compare, Fortnite took four months to achieve the same numbers and the game currently has 200 million players. Today, the developer has revealed that it has already banned more than 16,000 accounts for cheating. The company also asked users to capture proof of cheaters, such as a screenshot or video clip and send it to them. Even if the proof isn't available, they are urging players to report the cheaters' ID and it shall be taken up for investigation. © Respawn The game currently lacks an in-game reporting tool and the developer has acknowledged that it's a "good idea". Though, there isn't a timeline on when the feature will be rolled out. Given the massive popularity of the game, we expect the reporting system to drop soon since a manual complain filing is bothersome for players as well as the company. A cheater who goes by the name of Mengiez on Twitch was caught cheating in his own broadcast. Viewers noticed that he's asking a wall hack to keep an eye on his opponent's location. Another Twitch streamer going by the name Dharyxd was caught using an aimbot. The videos have since been deleted, but the cheating cost them their accounts. © Respawn The game will have a second patch this week, but we don't know what to expect with the upcoming Apex Legends patch. So far, Respawn has been doing pretty well with their response to player concerns. Many players have been complaining that PUBG has a huge issue with hackers and the developers aren't doing enough to curb it. Using hacks to score points ruins the fun of the game because no player should have an undue advantage. In December, PUBG received a new anti-cheating tool called BattlEye, and it helped in 30,000 cheating accounts.
  2. Everyone has regrets, some bigger than the others and I think Will Smith has been carrying around the biggest one ever and he's finally talking about it 20 years later. Can you imagine anyone turning down a movie like 'The Matrix'? Well, turns out that's exactly what Will did. In a 'storytime' video on his YouTube account, Will Smith talked all about 'why he turned down The Matrix' and well, the main reason is that he just didn't understand it. Yep, that's it. He was offered the lead role of Neo in the 1999 Si-Fi movie but it eventually went to Keanu Reeves. Actually, come to think of it, it's now hard to imagine someone other than Keanu playing that role. Will started off the video by saying, “This is one of them stories I'm not proud of, but it's the truth.” He explained how the offer came at a 'crazy time' in his career. He said, I had done 'Independence Day' the year before, so I was like, 'Eh, I'm not doing another alien movie, I don't want to be the alien movie guy''." Then, he did meet with 'geniuses' The Wachowskis who approached him and pitched the movie to him, but he just didn't understand it. Will explaining the pitch to us is also very funny and the animation in his video adds a great touch. He said, “I didn't get it when I read it. It's a hard movie to pitch. You know: 'Everybody lives inside a computer.' It was only when I saw it that I really got it. They came in and made a pitch for 'The Matrix'. As it turns out, they're geniuses. But there's a fine line in a pitch meeting between genius and what I experienced in the meeting.” Will, however, did acknowledge that he saved us all by not messing up 'The Matrix' because Keanu Reeves as Neo is perfect and Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus is perfect. He said, “If I had done it because I'm black, then Morpheus wouldn't have been black because they were looking at Val Kilmer. So, I probably would have messed 'The Matrix' up.” Here's the video:
  3. Russia is planning to disconnect the entire country from the internet in order to simulate cyberwar on the country. Russians ISPs will be required to redirect web traffic from routing points within the country that will be approved by the government's telecom watchdog. © Reuters Just like every other country, Russia currently uses the global framework to connect with devices all over the world. This will be a move by the country to test cyber security and the country's capability for independent internet that does not depend on global systems. The temporary disconnection takes place in the next few weeks. © Pexels During the disconnection, the country will also rely on its own version of Domain Name System (DNS), the directory of web domains and addresses. The experiment is a part of Russia's Digital Economy National Program which aims to protect the country's digital infrastructure even if other countries cut it off. According to a report by ZDNet “The Kremlin's ultimate goal for the program is to wean the country off foreign internet providers and keep the Russian internet independent so it would be protected against potential cyber attacks,” © Pexels Since all web traffic in Russia will pass through the government's routing points, it potentially means that Moscow will be able to censor the Internet, just like in China. China's internet censorship system, also known as the Great Firewall, blocks websites and censors certain words from social media to prevent citizens from seeing content unfavourable to the regime.
  4. Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar are two of the most coveted superstars in the Indian film industry and while we'd love to see them work together on a project, seems like it is not possible, at least according to the King Khan himself. View this post on Instagram Launda na samajhna, beta baap hain tumhare! #1WeekToZero @anushkasharma @KatrinaKaif @aanandlrai @mohdzeeshanayyub #tigmanshudhulia @RedChilliesEnt @cypplOfficial A post shared by Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) on Dec 14, 2018 at 2:35am PST Recently during an interview, SRK was asked about his future plans and one of the questions was about him working with Khiladi Kumar. Now he'd love to work with him but his reason for not being able to do so is kind of very hilarious. “What do I say to this? I don't wake up as early as him. I go to sleep when Akshay is waking up. His day starts early. By the time I start working, he is packing up and going home. So he can put in more hours of work. I'm a nocturnal person. Not many people are fond of shooting at night like me. It will be fun to act with Akshay. Dono set pe hi nahin milenge. Woh jaa raha hoga aur main aa raha hounga (He'll be leaving the set and I'll be coming in). I would like to work like Akshay and with him, but our timings won't match.” View this post on Instagram ð A post shared by Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) on Jan 14, 2019 at 10:57pm PST Besides being a funny reason, it is also a very logical, and a relatable one for all of us struggling to make it to work on time every day. Now if you think about it, the duo was last seen together on the screen when they worked in 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai 'in 1997. We'd love to see the two men come together for a movie, but seems like the genres and the timings they both choose are poles apart. SRK was last seen in Anand L Rai's 'Zero' which didn't perform well at the box office and Akshay was seen with Rajinikanth in '2.0' and is now working on 'Sooryavanshi' with Rohit Shetty.
  5. Opens Instagram Sees a picture of a guy with a six-pack abs The bio reads Fitness Influencer/Lifetime Natural Checks posts All ab shots Closes Instagram and feels bad about self. How often have you found yourself doing this? See, going on a diet to get abs is not a bad thing at all. Losing fat generally is healthy for you and putting in the work to get lean is rewarding. But there is a difference between lean and shredded. Let me break it down for you: . Lean and athletic - 8 to 14% body fat . Shredded - Below 8% body fat The problem is that there are these enhanced and drugged bodybuilders who keep posting pictures of themselves looking shredded with rock-hard abs all year round, making you feel bad about yourself, even when you are lean. You are in a constant battle against yourself to stay shredded all year round like them. If you are building a physique without using any drugs for assistance (aka anabolic steroids), here are five reasons why trying to be shredded year round is plain stupid: © Pinterest 1. Your Testosterone Levels Will Take A Hit Dieting to a very low body fat percentage impacts your testosterone levels. Your hormones dip. It will impact your recovery, mood, and sexual health negatively. The reason guys on anabolics do not face this problem is them taking the hormones externally. They inject testosterone in supra-physiological doses on a weekly basis. Natural testosterone levels do not mean shit to them. 2. Constant Hunger Low body-fat means your hunger and satiety hormones are at a whack. Your leptin or satiety hormone is at an all-time low and your ghrelin or hunger hormone is at an all-time high. You are in a constant bad mood and cranky all the time. People around you do not like this side of you as well. 3. Too Restricted You will have to micro-manage every single meal that goes into your body to stay shredded. You will have to count every macro, weigh every food item, completely cut out every delicious food from your diet to be shredded. After a point, this becomes super stressful. You cannot focus on other things in life. You will be food obsessed. 4. Cannot Make Gains To gain muscle, you need to be in a calorie surplus and gain weight slow and steady. You will gain body fat. To be shredded and maintain your abs, you will need to be in a constant caloric deficit or at best, at your maintenance calories. As you see, these are two sides of a coin. You cannot have both. It is one or the other. Again, enhanced guys get bigger taking steroids is the hormones injected externally. © Pinterest 5. Body Image Issues A lot of well-known bodybuilders and fitness models have come out and spoken about this. Once you see your body look a certain way and you always desire to look that way, the obsession takes an ugly turn. A lot of athletes have admitted to being in a state of depression due to this. Attempting to stay shredded all year round is not just harmful to your physical health but also your mental health. 6. In the present day, if you are a regular gym rat you must have heard about Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) and maybe considered using them as well. It is worth mentioning that steroids were never developed for athletic or aesthetic purposes. They were made to treat the ill with muscle wasting conditions in cases of burns, cancer, AIDS or old age. Despite significant side effects, people consistently use AAS in supra-physiological doses, until 2000 the primary users were men involved in bodybuilding (amateur or pro), powerlifting and other athletic endeavours. But there is an alarming increase in young generation using steroids, as a study published by Public Health Wales reports 1 million active male steroid users in U.K i.e. 3% of its population. What is even more surprising, that lads as young as 13-21 are taking steroids. If we extrapolate that 3% to India's Urban male population that will be equal to a whacking 5.4 Million steroid users. © Unsplash Are More Men Interested In Bodybuilding & Powerlifting? With this drastic increase in steroid use, you might think that more of today's generation is interested in competitive Bodybuilding and Powerlifting. But stats reveal something unpredictable: only 27% men were involved in strength and athletic events, merely 22% were involved in competitive bodybuilding, and 56% were using because of body image issues or cosmetic purposes. Having A Greek God Physique Is A Necessity In This Generation! Rick Collins, an American lawyer who specializes in steroid use cases, quotes: “We live in a culture that is absolutely obsessed with appearance. We are judged by our looks every day. So when we look our best, we feel more self-confident. Are steroid users trying to impress themselves or trying to impress others? Both, of course.” © YouTube We dwell in a time where a great physique is a necessity to get roles in movies, be a cover model or run a fitness YouTube channel. In fact, if you do not have 16-inch arms & washboard abs, people won't believe you are serious about fitness. The whole purpose of lifting weights and eating healthy has become: aesthetics. There is a growing pressure on men to look more manly, more muscular, this is probably forcing them to take anabolics. But put aside the physiological side effects, I believe this young steroid using generation is also missing out something vital: The Process. You Are Missing Out On The Process! © Medium Apart from building muscles and strength, you build a character in the gym. The countless number of reps over the years transforms your body from a fragile person who was unable to do bodyweight squats to someone who can now lift more than two times his body weight. These things do not just develop physical but also mental strengths. This reaps perseverance inside you, you develop confidence that with commitment and consistency, you get stronger at things you were once weak. Arnold Schwarzenegger profoundly applied these lessons he learned in the gym to his business, Hollywood and political career. Building a good body with steroids without putting in the necessary hard work and consistency is perhaps developing a loser mentality in this generation. P.S: We know that Arnold used steroids, but he won multiple shows naturally during his teenage and probably exploited his natural potential. Have you even scratched the surface of your natural potential? Yash Sharma is a former national level Football player, now a Strength Coach, Nutritionist and Natural Bodybuilder. 7. The world came to a standstill when the newsflash hit everyone's phones: Stan Lee had passed away. Honestly, I had to check across multiple portals to check if this was a hoax or not, but once this gut-wrenching piece of news was confirmed, the first thing that popped in my mind was- “Oh my God, Marvel movies without Stan Lee in it? How will this even work?” via GIPHY I don't know if I am the only one who does this, but whenever I see Stan on the big screen making a badass cameo out of nowhere, I instantly go into fanboy mode without giving a damn if the dude next to me is judging me or not! via GIPHY The cheers, clap and whistles just come pouring out as soon as I see him making a trademark sarcastic comment about superheroes. This is my personal favourite. via GIPHY Now that he is gone, it is hard to imagine a Marvel movie without him. I mean, of course, it will still be mindblowing, but I won't be eagerly waiting for Stan anymore to pop on the screen and shoot a snarky line…and that breaks my heart. via GIPHY Stan was probably the biggest fan of his own work, as evident by his dedicated appearances at every movie premiere, comic book conventions and public signings. © AP Keeping in mind that this was a man above 90, who like his peers, should've been resting or just be on the down-low and spend his time golfing, it was incredible how enthusiastic he always was. Stan was the biggest personification of the quote “age is just a number” and a walking contradiction to the common notion, that 'old people' are not cool. via GIPHY It does make one wonder that why did not take a break from his movie career? I mean, it would not have been out of the norm. Actors his age often silently walk away from the spotlight, but Stan was always there and never broke under the pressure of the industry. Back in 2016, Stan told the Hollywood Reporter the reason behind him not retiring, and the answer is typical Stan. “When you retire, you have a chance to do all the things you've always wanted to do. I've been doing all the things I've always wanted to do. I've always wanted to be involved in entertaining people.” Wow. If that's not the most incredible thing you've heard, then I don't know what is. via GIPHY The man knew what he and his work meant to his fans. He knew the importance of the universe that he had created and always reminded himself, that in a way, he was helping people. “I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people's lives. Without it, they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you're able to entertain, you're doing a good thing.” Stan once told the Washington Post. via GIPHY His life and his works are proof that you won't hate your job if you love what you do. It goes without saying that Stan Lee is irreplaceable and that his loss will take a while to sink in. Until then, fanboys like me are waiting for the next Avengers movie, where we're going to yell our lungs out when we see him on the screen again! via GIPHY
  8. Canada has a lot of things our country doesn't and now, another, probably one of the most important things has joined the list. Recreational marijuana is now legal in Canada, yay! This news is technically a few months old and it was back in June when the bill legalizing marijuana passed the senate. It's been too easy for our kids to get marijuana - and for criminals to reap the profits. Today, we change that. Our plan to legalize & regulate marijuana just passed the Senate. #PromiseKept — Justin Trudeau (@JustinTrudeau) June 20, 2018 But, as of today, adults are allowed to carry and share up to 30 grams of legal marijuana in public. Moreover, it's also legal for people to cultivate up to four plants in their households and make products, like edibles, for personal use. Obviously, it won't be available to minors but that's a no-brainer. As much as we would want India to follow suit, it doesn't seem like that will happen anytime soon. Sorry, Uday Chopra, even after your very thought-out tweet, it still is probably a long way to go for us. I feel India should legalize marijuana. Firstly, It's part of our culture. Secondly, I think if legalized and taxed it can be a huge revenue source. Not to mention it will remove the criminal element associated with it. Plus and most importantly it has a lot of medical benefits! — Uday Chopra (@udaychopra) September 13, 2018 But, what we do know is how many Indians prefer moving to Canada. The country is like a mini-Punjab now. I mean, the free healthcare is enough reason to immigrate, but now this as well? It's like Canada just wants to get more and more people to come there. Great move, seriously. So, if you were planning on becoming the 'kaneda wala cousin' of your family, now you have one more reason for it, or should I say, 420 more reasons. People on Twitter are having some fun with this, and rightly so. Canada right now ð¨ð¦#CannabisLegalization pic.twitter.com/nG0Vb7kmcY — Kelly Canuckð (@KellyCanuckTO) October 17, 2018 Take that, America! Right now, marijuana is 100% legal in Toronto! In 3 hours, it'll be 100% legal here in Vancouver as well! Congratulations on this historical day, Canada! You're now America's cool older cousin who can get us weed! — KevinSmith (@ThatKevinSmith) October 17, 2018 So much excitement! WEED IS OFFICIALLY LEGAL IN CANADA pic.twitter.com/6EQz5Fvv0X — A â¡ | DMUMT (@10LOEY) October 17, 2018 Yes, great day. 10. The sale season is here, and never have we ever been more thankful. Let's face it, clothes are expensive, and everyday we get to realize it in ways that are rather, well, unexpected. For example, SRK and Kartik Aaryan just stepped out in outfits that reminded us of our deflated wallets and made us glad about the fact that discount filters exist. Who knew seemingly 'regular' hoodies and T-shirts can cost as much? But that's the magic of branding. Just take a look at their outfits, to satisfy that part of you that is governed by that weird morbid fascination. © Viral Bhayani Shah Rukh Khan wore the Europa! print hoodie by Balenciaga, that is a simple grey hoodie with red graphics in the front. However, it costs about INR 70,514/- © Balenciaga Maintaining the brand's sanctity, SRK went for the Balenciaga black speed trainers with black and white textured sole, that cost INR 55,670/- © Balenciaga Kartik Aaryan wasn't far behind, either. © Viral Bhayani Kartik wore the #Balmain Fever T-shirt by Balmain, that is rather in demand and is sold out everywhere right now. The seemingly simple plain black T-shirt costs somewhere around INR 17,500/- © Balmain Coming to Kartik's shoes, he's wearing the Adidas Y-3 Kusari II, a pair of white sneakers we are in love with. The pair boasts of a smooth neoprene upper and is cushioned with 'boost', which Adidas Y-3 claims is the most responsive cushioning they have used. They cost INR 41,257/- © store.y-3 Aren't you glad the sales are on? We sure are!
  11. Life, as we know it today, is a constant hustle. We are perpetually chasing after the top scores, that next degree, upcoming placements, that promotion we have your eyes on, and then a bigger house, a better car, followed by an unceasing list of a bazillion other things. There's no one to blame here, it's human nature, and we happen to be alive and kicking in the 21st century. This generation thrives on material abundance and the “likes” it would fetch them when it is put on display. We live our life like there is no tomorrow, without even sparing a thought to the fact that the tomorrow we take so much for granted, might not be a reality of our lives. © Facebook The story of Ali Banat, an Australian millionaire with a lavish lifestyle and all the luxuries in the world, who decided to give away all his wealth to those in need, is a lesson for our generation to hit the pause button, take a second look at the life we are leading and reconsider where we are headed in the larger picture of things. All You Need To Know About Ali Banat You may not have heard of this name before, but he became an inspiration for an entire generation of men and women around the world. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Banat used to live in Greenacre in south-west Sydney and was known for living the good life. © Facebook He owned a successful security and electrical business and led a life that most of us can only aspire for. Life had been good until it struck him right in the gut. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage-four mouth cancer and the doctor gave him just another seven months to live. However, his humble acceptance of his fate and the will to leave this world after having made an impact on people's lives, expanded his life by another three years. In the following months, post his diagnosis, Banat started to donate all of his prized possessions to people in need around the world. The High Life © Facebook Banat became famous when a video featuring him titled 'Gifted With Cancer' went viral on social media. In it, he speaks about how Cancer changed his perspective towards life and that he has finally come to see the meaning in every little thing that God has blessed us with. Watch the video here for more details: It is evident that his plush life was filled with many valuable commodities, from limited edition Louis Vuitton hats and shoes, to expensive designer accessories and a Ferrari Spider worth Rs. 4,30,92,000! Start Of A Journey Right after his diagnosis, Banat began to distribute all of his valuables amongst people in need. He said, “when you find out you're sick or you don't have much time to live, this is the last thing you want to chase. And that's how we should live our lives every day”. He believes that on the day of judgement, none of the wealth you acquire shall matter, and what will remain is the good you did for others and the difference you made to people's lives. © Facebook This belief marked the inception of the charity foundation he set up called 'Muslims Of The World' which aims to build villages for widows, mosques, schools that will house orphans, medical centres, as well as businesses to support the local community. The foundation has since earned donations worth over 1,041,438 dollars. He personally visited the African countries to ensure that 100 per cent of all the donations go to the projects the foundation takes up. Ever since, the foundation has helped numerous people across a number of countries including Togo, Ghana, and Burkina Faso. The Legacy He Left Behind © Facebook Earlier this year on 30th May 2018, Ali Banat succumbed to his Cancer and left this world for the heavenly abode, but his words and actions have touched a million hearts and inspired a generation of people across the globe to carry his legacy forward. © YouTube People from all around the world have since come together to donate money to his foundation and the good work he started, to ensure that his legacy lives on forever. Ali Banat showed us how we can make a difference in other's lives, even when we feel we're left with nothing in life. Take a look at his last words here:
  12. In a recent interview, Jeff Bezos revealed that he recommends using fear to drive work ethic and innovative thinking. Bezos believes the strategy should be implemented even when everything is going well. © Reuters In a shareholder note, Bezos wrote “I constantly remind our employees to be afraid, to wake up every morning terrified. Our customers have made our business what it is," he continued, "and we consider them to be loyal to us – right up until the second that someone else offers them a better service.” In a highly competitive world, Bezos believes that employees need to be scared of not being at the top and commit to "constant improvement, experimentation and innovation in every initiative.” It kind of makes sense as when you're at the top there's only one way to go — down. It is extremely hard to maintain your position at the top. © Reuters It's not the first time a CEO has adopted the strategy of using fear as a way to motivate workers and employees. Former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi transformed the entire company during her tenure and became one of the most successful business figures in the world. In a previous interview with Bloomberg, Nooyi said "I'm always afraid that if I fail, I may have to go back to something that I don't want to,” she continued, "That fear always motivates me and so I drive myself to be better and better at my job every day.” When Amazon first started as a company, it would only sell books online. Bezos later transformed Amazon into the world's leading online retailer and it was all thanks to innovation. The website today now sells everything from gadgets to healthcare and entertainment. "To invent you have to experiment, and if you know in advance that it's going to work, it's not an experiment," Bezos wrote in a 2016 shareholder letter. "Failure and invention are inseparable twins.” © Reuters Innovation and experimentation have enabled Bezos to make Amazon the next trillion dollar company right behind Apple. Bezos himself is now worth more than $156 billion and is now at the top of Forbes richest list. Source: CNBC
  13. No drinking session starts without the mandatory clink of the glasses and exhilarating shout of 'cheers'. How many times have your friends reprimanded you for proceeding to drink without doing the ritualistic 'cheers'? And then sheepishly, you nod and enthusiastically clink your glass with everybody else's. Do you know the reason behind this drinking ritual that has become indispensible to social drinking today? © Thinkstock Photos/Getty Images As per the most popular legend, clinking beer glasses was pretty common in taverns and during feasts in the ancient Europe. Clinking glasses so that some of the liquid spilled out into the other person's glass was a way of proving you had not poisoned your comrade's drink. Drunken brawls and personal enmities were not uncommon in those days where warriors, noblemen, courtiers sat down for an evening of revelry. So clinking glasses and spilling your drink into the other's meant you were not trying to kill them. However, there is no evidence of this practice in history. © Thinkstock Photos/Getty Images Another popular reason behind this is a bit more scientific. The sound of clinking of the glasses is supposed to heighten the pleasure of drinking by adding to one more sense i.e. the sense of hearing. Alcohol, especially wine, is best enjoyed when all the sense are involved – taking in the aroma of the spirit, watching the bubbly rise up in the glass, and swirling the velvety liquid inside your mouth. Add to it the pleasant jingle of wine glasses and you are set for the evening. So now you know why we clink our glasses in a collective gesture of brotherhood, go ahead and show off this knowledge the next time you go out drinking.
