  1. No matter what day of the week, you will find me playing games the moment I finish my work. While most movies these days turn out to be disappointing and have predictable plots, video games, on the other hand, offer more value and entertainment than ever before. Two years ago, I wrote a feature on how video games are already bigger than movies, today the industry has become bigger even in India. Games have also become a better medium for storytelling than movies right now. Here are 4 reasons why I prefer playing video games over watching movies: 1. Itâs More Immersive © CDProjektRed Games are known for having awesome character development and plot details that are not possible in movies. Since many games can run for over 20 hours, you get enough time to experience the story. In some games, you can even tell your own story by making key decisions or by developing a certain type of character. You can be evil in games or the good old hero trying to save the world, itâs your choice really especially in role-playing games. In movies and TV shows, you simply watch the main character do things while in games, YOU get to be the main character and experience the story for yourself. You can create how your character looks and what kind of clothes it can wear. You can even choose your characterâs voice and style of playing. Sure, not all games have the best plot but there are plenty of games out there with better storylines than most movies today. 2. You Live In a Whole Different World © Sega When playing open-world games, you donât only get to experience great characters but an entirely different world from your own as well. Some games feature a world with different islands, fauna and animals that you can interact with. We recently played Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the city of Midgar looks better than most cities in the world. Similarly, if you like a fantasy setting, you can check out the world of The Witcher series. If you ever wondered what Tokyo feels and looks like, you can check out games like the Yakuza series. There are so many different worlds to check out in games that can never be accurately represented in movies and TV shows. 3. I Donât Have To Deal With Bad Acting © naughty Dog Many movies feature actors that canât really act to save their lives. While iconic movies like The Godfather and other drama movies will always live-on; most movies today feature at least one bad actor that doesnât effectively suspend reality. However, while playing games, you can easily get lost in the world, narrative and gameplay for hours. Games now feature great voice-actors that make cut-scenes believable. Games like The Last of Us have a profound impact on players because of its great voice-acting and motion-captured cutscenes. It is also needed to point out that there are plenty of games that feature bad acting, animations and voice acting as well. Just like movies, we have bad games too and are not immune to bad actors either. 4. Video Games are Global © Unplash Whether you play PUBG or Rainbow Six Siege, you are bound to make friends from different regions to play the game together. Thatâs the beauty of video games, it connects people with each other from all over the world which isnât necessarily true for movies and TV shows. Games are developed all over the world and thereâs a high chance youâve played some of them. Ever played Mario or Contra? Both these games were developed in Japan. Played PUBG recently? It was developed by BlueHole based in South Korea. View the full article

  3. Being in a self-imposed quarantine and in isolation takes a toll on the psyche of an individual. This isnât exactly a new revelation, but the fact that even the best among us are susceptible to it is something that most of us hadnât realised before. We have come to realise this today after a video surfaced online of a doctor in Mathura tried to flee from the quarantine centre set up in a government hospital, on Thursday. © Twitter/timesofindia The doctor we see in the video is Dr Piyush Chatturvedi, who, as a report by Times Of India, was under a precautionary, âself-imposedâ quarantine after he came in contact with a coronavirus positive patient. The doctor says that he was stepping out of the facility to get a few things for consumption, and can be seen breaking into a sprint as the police try and stop him. © Twitter/timesofindia This shouldnât come as a surprise. Doctors, no matter where they are in the county are in a rather precarious position. On one hand, they are at the forefront of this ongoing war against the virus, and are facing the situation without proper equipment and basic PPEs or personal protective equipment. On the other, they are facing some appalling situations and discrimination, while spending days away from their families and loved ones. © Reuters The Mathura chapter of the Indian Medical Association put out a statement condemning the actions of Dr Chatturvedi and all medical professionals in the area who are putting public health at risk in a time like this. © Twitter/timesofindia While we agree with the opinions of the IMA, we cannot help but feel sorry for people like Dr Chatturvedi. With that being said, blaming just the doctor cannot be justified. Dr Chatturvedi, and a total of 13 other people at the District Combined Hospital of Vrindavan, came in contact with a COVID-19 patient, who later died. The medical professionals have been put in a precautionary quarantine for days now, and havenât been tested as of writing this article. #Covid_19: UP doctor flees from quarantine, cops chase him down Watch pic.twitter.com/f3PjFPz2i2 â The Times Of India (@timesofindia) May 1, 2020 Clearly, the situation is so grim that even the brightest among us are behaving in a rather sorry manner. This just goes on to show the psychological cost we as a civilisation may have to bear, once this pandemic is dealt with. View the full article
  4. Irrfan Khan, one of India's finest actors breathed his last on April 29, 2020, at Mumbai's Kokilaben hospital. It feels like itâs the end of an era. Irrfan struggled to fame and had entertained us for years to achieve what he was in the last phase of his life. He grew up in a middle-class family in Jaipur, where the idea of acting was way too far-fetched. But, Irrfan did follow his passion and itâs his art that made two generations watch him on both the small screen and the big screens. We grew up watching Irrfan or let me say we grew with him. We have seen him laughing, weeping, and doing everything thatâs relatable. We have been talking about his movies but we need to celebrate the work he did on the small screens too because his body of work spoke volumes about him as an actor even back then. Here are the TV shows which brought out the best in him: 1. ChandrakantaIrrfanâs show Chandrakanta got him attention as the actor played a double role of twin brothers Badrinath and Somnath. Well, Irrfan was not interested in doing the shot but as fate had it, he became the part of the show and even got the attention of the viewers. Going back in time, Irrfanâs characterization was such that he got all attention for his role in the show. 2. Banegi Apni BaatIrrfan adds soul to his character and he was particular about his scenes in the show that he made his wife Sutapa Sikdar who was a screenplay writer of the show. Irrfan played the role of a guy named Kumar and his subtle way of portraying the character was worth a shot. 3. DarrWho can forget this show by Irrfan? Well, he played the role of a psycho serial killer and nailed the character to T. As far as we have known Irrfan, he can play the toughest of roles effortlessly on the screen. 4. ChanakyaDo you remember this show? If not, let me tell you that it was a 47-part historical drama wherein Irrfan played the role of Senapati Bhadrashaal making sure that he can also ace historical characters. 5. Mano Ya Na ManoWell, this one I can never forget as I used to watch this series with my parents as it used to talk about myths, ancient beliefs, and eerie happenings. His dulcet voice added authenticity to the show and you would love watching the episodes. Try it if you havenât seen them. Irrfan, you were a blessing and still are! View the full article
  5. Soon after sharing a lighthearted (though pretty weird) video of himself and his horse companion during the lockdown, actor Salman Khan has decided to champion a new cause. Making good on a promise announced earlier this April, Khan has begun the process of reaching out to a body of over 25,000 film technicians, directly helping foot their living expenses with a periodical stipend of Rs 3,000. Dear @BeingSalmanKhan sir, unfortunately I have never get a chance to work with you , nor I am in your team but still you are doing the financial support for thousands of people who are working in film industry without knowing them. Can't tell you how thankful we all for you ðð pic.twitter.com/vjXipdmRVE â Manoj Sharma (@manojksharma2) April 27, 2020 Mumbai-based assistant director Manoj Sharma took to Twitter this Monday to share a notification from his bank, highlighting how despite never having directly worked on a film with the actor, he has received financial support. The move showed how Khanâs bonds with the industry arenât merely professional - the actor seems to have taken note of recent work droughts as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown. With several filming schedules postponed, thousands of film industry professionals - from key assistants to spot boys - have suffered from a dry spell in their income, especially owing to the by-day rates most production companies work by. Several fans rose up to cheer Salman on, appreciating a move thatâs helped keep several families afloat during these tough times. Dear @BeingSalmanKhan sir, unfortunately I have never get a chance to work with you , nor I am in your team but still you are doing the financial support for thousands of people who are working in film industry without knowing them. Can't tell you how thankful we all for you ðð pic.twitter.com/vjXipdmRVE â Manoj Sharma (@manojksharma2) April 27, 2020 In a bid to keep spirits up during the lockdown, Salman also shared a recent video of his latest stab at music titled Pyaar Karona, although itâs perhaps a bit more geared towards the funnybone rather than our ears. Finally hamara YouTube channel shuru ho gaya hai, jaiye aur mera naya gaana dekhen aur enjoy karein. #PyaarKaronahttps://t.co/ihrH8607yB@SajidMusicKhan @wajidkhan7 @adityadevmusic @hussainthelal @abhiraj21288 #SaajanSingh #StayHome #Lockdown #NewMusic #IndiaFightsCorona â Salman Khan (@BeingSalmanKhan) April 20, 2020 Either way, weâre glad to see Khan taking up a stand to support the industry that has had his back through all these years. 6. The lockdown period amid the coronavirus crisis gives us time to binge on shows that we always wanted to but never got the time. While some iconic shows have been popular for remarkable narrative set-up, here's the thing, no show can be truly perfect and goof-ups are inevitable. So here are 10 mistakes in iconic shows that you might've missed while watching the show the first time. 1. Made In Heaven © IMDB/ goof-ups page In the second episode of the show, Shibani mentions that Jazz (Jaspreet) lives in Dwarka, but in the following episodes, her brother is seen wasted in Hauz Rani Park because of drugs, and the apartments near Shek Sarai is made to look like her house, which is at least more than an hour away from Dwarka. 2. Game of Thrones © IMDB/ goof-ups page In season 6, it is revealed that Melisandre has a life-altering choker necklace that gives youth to her otherwise aged body. So whenever she removes it, she turns into an old woman. But, in season 4, episode 7 when Melisandre takes a bath, she's not wearing the necklace, and yet her youthfulness is still intact. 3. Sacred Games © IMDB/ goof-ups page With parallel timelines that were years apart from each other in Gaitonde's universe, Jameela and Jojo did not seem to age at all as compared to the RAW agent and Gaitonde himself. 4. Friends © IMDB/ goof-ups page It's been more than ten years since Friends ended. But, here's a goof-up that you may not have noticed. In the episode, The One With Rachel's Date, Phoebe and Monica are sitting in Central Perk drinking coffee. However, when the scene cuts to Phoebe, there's an unidentified woman sitting next to her as Monica, who visibly looks nothing like Courtney Cox. 5. Mahabharata © IMDB/ goof-ups page In episode 49 of Mahabharata, Bhishmapitama is spotted with an electric cooler in the background. An electric invention that could not have been there in his time, certainly. However, a different narrative says that it was actually the design of the pillars in the background. Probably we should watch it again, just to investigate. 6. Friends © IMDB/ goof-ups page In an episode, Phoebe was present in two different places at the same time. In the pilot episode where Monica introduces everyone to Paul the Wine Guy, Phoebe is in the kitchen when she realises, she pulled out four eyelashes. The scene immediately cuts to Paul sitting in the living room and Phoebe is sitting right behind him. 7. Downton Abbey © IMDB/ goof-ups page Downton Abby is set in 1912. The storyline depicts the lives of an aristocratic family living in a fictional Yorkshire country estate in Downton Abbey. The drama usually gets attention to get the details from the time correct in portraying the 19th century England, Then, we came across this picture of the show wherein, a clear plastic water bottle water is visible in the background. Looks like someone was thirsty on the set. 8. The Simpsons © IMDB/ goof-ups page In the episode, And Maggie Makes Three, Marge tells Homer that she's pregnant with Maggie, but it's funny because baby Maggie is already there in a picture hanging on the wall behind Marge when she breaks the news to Homer. 9. How I Met Your Mother In season 2 of How I Met Your Mother, Ted's date brutally smashes the car windshield, but in the next shot, the glass seems to be intact and spotless. In season 1, when Marshal runs through the cloud of smoke towards the Limo, the audience gets a glimpse of the fog machine the makers didn't bother to remove from the screen which is just awkward. 10. Game Of Thrones © IMDB/ goof-ups page For a show set in a timeline with no electricity, electric chargers sure do seem out of place. In the episode where Stannis Baratheon was defeated, there's a charger kept under his leg. It could also be his mic when the scene was being shot. View the full article

He calls a spade a spade and doesnât think twice before appreciating any good initiative, regardless of where it has come from. 9. Owing to the Coronavirus outbreak, we are restricted to staying at homes as PM Narendra Modi has imposed a lockdown. If you look at the brighter side, people are finally taking out some much-needed time from their hectic schedules to spend time with families and even learning new things each day, especially from moms. Well, I am sure many of us are learning how to cook but things at Milind Somanâs house look a tad bit different as he is leaning to skip a rope from his mother. 10. Given that by now the best scientific and medical brains are all studying the effects of the novel coronavirus, one would assume that we may have the symptoms and signs associated with the disease somewhat figured out. Well, one would be wrong. © Reuters In a rather bizarre turn of events in Wuhan, two doctors who were in contact with the patients of COVID-19, and who later fell ill because of the disease, are now showing a new symptom. The new symptoms have doctors all over the world puzzled, and more importantly, worried. Wuhan is the city where the first case of the novel coronavirus broke out. © Reuters As per a video released by China Central Television, or CCTV, the skin colour of the two doctors has changed drastically over a period of time. The doctors who are showing this new bizarre symptom have been identified as Dr Yi Fan and Dr Hu Weifeng, colleagues of Dr Li Wenliang, the man who tried to blow the figurative whistle on the virus. © CCTV While Dr Yi is a cardiologist, Dr Hu is a urologist who has been bedridden for over 99 days, as per the report that was filed. The Science Times a website operated by a community of scientists tried to speculate as to how something like this could take place. The first reason that they and the doctors treating Dr Yi & Dr Hu gave was that it could be the virus itself. Because the virus attacks the respiratory and the renal systems, this has an effect on the lungs, liver, and kidneys, all of which play a vital role in ridding the body of wastes. The article postulates that because the livers have stopped functioning normally, they had to put both the doctors on a life-supporting machine which causes certain hormonal imbalances. © CCTV The second reason, that the doctors gave was that certain medicines, which have been given to most Chinese people who were treated for the virus, causes the pigmentation of the skin to change. © Reuters In any case, the team of doctors looking after Dr Yi & Dr Hu are assuming that their skin condition will return to normal, once they are taken off the treatments and the medicine. Global Times, the tabloid division of the Chinese state-run People's Daily newspaper soon put out a video showing that Dr Yi has already started getting his colour back. Yi Fan, a Wuhan doctor whose skin was darkened after the #COVD19 virus damaged his liver, has almost fully recovered. In an interview with CCTV, he said he can now sit down and chat after nearly 40 days of treatment. pic.twitter.com/3hoXIMb7eI â Global Times (@globaltimesnews) April 21, 2020 However, people are taking this news of ârecoveryâ with a pinch of salt. Anything coming out of China is pure propaganda at this point - believe nothing question everything â Corinne Smith (@SmithTsmith3) April 21, 2020Don't trust Chinese propaganda â FOMONAUT ðð° (@cryptophiles) April 21, 2020Whatever the case may be, whether Dr Yi is indeed recovering or not, two things are becoming clearer. Our knowledge of the virus and the way it behaves is still frighteningly non-existent, and that people are increasing deficit of trust as far as China is concerned. View the full article
  11. Itâs always a sight to see whenever a new teardown video by JerryRigEverything shows up on Youtube, but this time, it is special. The OnePlus 8 Pro launched recently and in case youâre not aware, the smartphone comes with new hardware and features like wireless charging. While the smartphone is yet to launch in India, it is still exciting to see what the phone is actually made of. The OnePlus 8 Pro also comes with an IP 68 rating which means the innards of the phone have to be tightly packed as well. © JerryRigEverything The smartphoneâs teardown shows the OnePlus 8 Pro has a very neat and almost artistic design even from the inside. It shows that OnePlus designed the inside of the smartphone keeping everything in mind and with good planning. The smartphone was not easy to open because the back panel was helped by a strong adhesive, something OnePlus may have decided to use for the IP 68 rating. The phone is rated for water resistance which means the design of the smartphone cannot let any water seep in that can potentially damage the motherboard and other hardware components. These coils are used for wireless charging support which was a long-demanded feature by fans. The OnePlus 8 Pro supports 30W wireless charging via their proprietary charging stand. You can also see the massive camera sensors being used in the OnePlus 8 Pro which includes a 48MP main camera sensor in the middle, a 16MP ultra-wide camera and an additional macro sensor. The OnePlus 8 Pro also did well in JerryRigEverythingâs durability test where the smartphone was not easy to bend and did not crack in the process. The smartphoneâs display was also exposed to flame for 30 seconds that left permanent damage but was still usable after the test. 12. OnePlus finally revealed the India pricing of the OnePlus 8 Series and it's good news for every OnePlus fan in India right now. Last week, we speculated that the company would be launching their smartphones in India at a cheaper price by taking cues from its China pricing. However, OnePlus has managed to launch the two smartphones at even cheaper prices in India, showing the companyâs commitment to the Indian smartphone market. While this move was highly unanticipated, it far exceeded our expectations and probably every OnePlus fan's as well. © Youtube_Karl Conrad The OnePlus 8 starts in India at Rs 41,999 while the starting price of the smartphone in China is around Rs 43,160. Similarly, the OnePlus 8 Pro in India starts at Rs 54,999 while it costs considerably more in China for the same model. This couldnât have been possible without OnePlus localising the production of the smartphone in India and the fact that India is the companyâs most important market when it comes to revenues. India accounts for over 33% of OnePlusâ global sales and it only seems to be growing with each launch every year. View the full article

  14. Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has brought the world to a standstill. Owing to travel restrictions, quarantine camps and lockdowns across the globe, people are currently being tested to their limits during these ongoing times of crisis. But, the frustration is not just restricted to the general public. Celebrities and sports icons, too, find themselves in the same boat. With not much to do and a lot of idle time at their hands, a lot of celebrities have resorted to sharing videos of themselves, giving an insight of their lives during lockdown. And, the latest fad, appears to be grooming videos. From growing beards to trying new hairdos, celebrities are making the most of their time during self-isolation protocols. There are even some who are setting couple goals by coming to each other's aid at home. Last month, in one of the most popular videos on social media, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma was seen giving her popular husband Virat Kohli a brilliant haircut at home. View this post on InstagramMeanwhile, in quarantine.. ðð»ââðð»ââA post shared by (@anushkasharma) The video, which showed Anushka using a pair of kitchen scissors to give Kohli a cool haircut with a gradual fade, didn't just strike a chord with the fans, but also inspired others to recreate the turn of events. Since then, a lot of people including celebrities have tried their hand at getting haircuts or shaves by their partners or kins. But, one haircut didn't go as planned. Inspired by Anushka and Virat, former England cricketer Robert Key and his wife Fleur were probably looking to follow in the footsteps of the Indian couple before disaster struck. In one of the major lessons as to why grooming should be left to professionals, the England star was left fuming after his wife removed a major chunk of his hair by accident. 15. With human beings across the globe cooped up inside their homes and shops shutting down due to the lockdown, animals and birds have reclaimed their territories. Over the past few weeks, several videos and images were doing the rounds on the internet that showed wild animals roaming freely in the cities without any human intervention. The current situation doesn't allow us to venture out where we are in a way forced into maintaining social isolation, it wouldnât be wrong to say - thatâs how nature takes over. Another such interesting instance has come to the fore where, with the sudden disappearance of human beings, lions were spotted sleeping on a road. © kruger national park In South Africa's Kruger National Park lions have been taking advantage of lockdown due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Park ranger Richard Sowry was out on patrol recently when he snapped a pride sleeping on a road. © kruger national park According to a report in BBC, Sowry performs an essential service and continues to work during the lockdown, checking on the wildlife and guarding against poachers. However, these big cats are spotted by the rangers on the road only at night. But this time he was surprised to see them chilling on the roads during daylight hours. These wild animals knew no bounds as they were running and playing around uninterrupted. pic.twitter.com/S3VpZMuCbS â Kruger National Park (@SANParksKNP) April 13, 2020 The park ranger is just happy to share his photos with people who cannot visit the park right now because of the coronavirus global pandemic. Stay safe and healthy!A post shared by (@chrishemsworth) With his friend and trainer, Luke Zocchi, Hemsworth starts the video by talking about all the items the two are going to use including a couple of detergent jugs, a stool and a laundry basket. Hereâs how the Australianâs routine goes: 1. Burpee + Shoulder Press © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth Hemsworth uses a set of detergent jugs to replace the dumbbells and gets into it. He begins a set with a push-up followed by picking up the jugs and into a shoulder press. One set includes six reps. 2. Stool Dips © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth Zocchi gets into a dips position with a stool replacing the bench at the gym and gets his chest (pectoralis major) and triceps burning. One set includes six reps. 3. Tricep Kickbacks © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth While his trainer gets busy with the dips, Hemsworth sneaks a quick set of tricep kickbacks with a set of dumbbells. One set includes six reps. 4. âLaundryâ Squats © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth While you can do squats freehand, with a barbell over your shoulders or a set of dumbbells, Chris chooses something simpler, a laundry basket. He keeps the basket loaded with clothes (and eventually the two detergent jugs) in front of his torso and starts working on his quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, abdominals and calves. One set includes six reps. 5. Cross-Body Mountain Climbers © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth Yet another exercise that requires no equipment, cross-body mountain climbers as shown by Zocchi focuses essentially on your abdominals, hips, chest, shoulders, triceps and pays a considerable amount of focus to your body overall. One set includes six reps (each side). 6. Sit-Throughs © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth A core workout, the sit-throughs executed by the two in the video also allow you to work on your shoulders and hips while taking care of your overall body mobility and build coordination. One set includes six reps (each side). These six exercises complete one set of your workout. Repeat the circuit five more times and your daily quota of working on your body and moving towards becoming stronger, despite the self-quarantine , is complete. View the full article

  18. Malls are shut, concerts are postponed and most of us are working from home - quarantine is real and we're in this together. But hey, lounging around at home does have its upsides, my favourite being binge-watching like there's no tomorrow (and not regret it). While I was at it, I made a list of five must-watch crime-dramas that will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you root for justice. Badla (2019) Red Chillies Entertainment A young, married entrepreneur (played by Tapsee Pannu) wakes up in a hotel room, only to find herself locked with her lover's dead body. She gets caught in a web of accusations and heads to a reputed lawyer (played by Amitabh Bachchan) for help. Packed with mystery, suspense, and fear, this short & slick thriller is an all-time favourite. Bhaukaal (2020) MX Player Set in Muzaffarnagar of 2003, MX Player's latest show Bhaukaal is the story of police officer Naveen Sikhera (played by Mohit Raina) who gets posted to the sin city as the new SP (Superintendent of Police). He makes justice his prime goal amidst unforgiving gang lords, bribery, corruption, and the infamous UP mafia. Inspired by true events, the story of Bhaukaal is based on the life of IPS officer Navniet Sekera, who eradicated gangsters and infamous mafias from Uttar Pradesh. All the episodes of Bhaukaal are now streaming on MX Player, for free. Risk (2017) Set in modern-day Mumbai, the film revolves around a Bangkok based don, Khalid Bin Jamal, who has the political big guns, right from the Home Minister to the Police Commissioner under his control. Things start getting out of hand when Jamal frames an honest police officer in a murder scandal and uses him as a pawn for his shrewd schemes. Starring Vinod Khanna, Randeep Hooda and Tanushree Dutta, this underrated thriller packs a punch and doesn't disappoint. Gangaajal (2003) Entertainment One Pvt. Ltd. In a world full of corruption, people like SP Amit Kumar (played by Ajay Devgn) make us believe in the power of authority, honesty and justice. In Gangaajal, he's posted to Tezpur - a city struggling with violence, crime, bribery, and favouritism. Kumar takes law and order in his hands and works towards making 'justice' the new normal. Manorama Six Feet Under (2007) Shemaroo Entertainment The film revolves around Satyaveer (played by Abhay Deol), a public works engineer living in a small town in Rajasthan. Things take an unexpected turn when an irrigation minister's wife bribes him to collect evidence against her husband who is having an extra-marital affair. Little did he know he was being deceived himself. Which are your go-to movies for a home-quarantine binge-watch sesh? Let us know in the comments section! View the full article

  20. As the Coronavirus or COVID-19 threat saw itself coming into March 2020, Indian authorities have kept close tabs on curtailing the spread of the virus. This has resulted in several state governments temporarily shutting down several institutions such as schools, colleges and if youâre lucky enough to work remotely, certain offices as well. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal: All cinema halls to remain shut in Delhi till 31st March. Schools and colleges where exams are not being held will also remain closed. #CoronaVirus pic.twitter.com/pbuB1JNFnW â ANI (@ANI) March 12, 2020 One particularly interesting way in which the virus has changed urban life in the countries it affects is by forcing authorities to clamp down on cinema halls - CM Arvind Kejriwal has followed in the footsteps of other states by keeping them shut in the capital, at least until the end of March. Naturally, if youâre big into movies, this is going to be rather disappointing for you - although certain producers will definitely be a lot more pissed off in comparison. Well... no more movies for a while then. All the better to binge then, I suppose? Thank goodness for TV Shows, I guess - hereâs what we recommend to binge through the dark days ahead. 1. Pandemic: How To Prevent An Outbreak Pretty much required watching by this point, Pandemic helps demystify and bring clarity to the history behind several key diseases, and how humanity unites to keep itself safe. While the series was produced much before the Coronavirus surge, the final episode, which focuses on combating flu, has a lot of helpful info that can be repurposed to fighting COVID-19 - and if anything, keeps you informed and up-to-date about the future of vaccination and medicare, particularly in Asia. 2. Kingdom With spirited discussion about the apocalypse going around ever since 2020 began, thereâs no better time to follow that curiosity with the recent release of Kingdomâs second season. The South Korean show takes us back to the 16th century, where a deadly zombie plague takes over amidst tense political drama. If youâre a new fan of Korean work after watching the Oscar-sweeping Parasite, itâs time you dove into the best Korean TV has to offer as well. Season 2 is just out, by the way. 3. Better Call Saul Donât you miss the early 2000s, when we only had one or two major global crises to deal with? If youâre into that setting, love Breaking Bad and law dramas, youâre in luck - Better Call Saul is currently bang-smack in the middle of a roaring 5th season run, and man is the series bingeable. Several fans even suggest that this spinoff is even better than the original series - only one way to find out. 4. Devs One of the brightest science-fiction minds in filmmaking today, Alex Garland's first foray into television doesnât hold back from all the fun stuff - quantum computing, morality, free-will and mental illness - the show constantly weaves through a trippy, surreal plot that keeps you on your toes throughout. Also, Nick Offerman plays a cold and ruthless tech mogul in this one - bet you Parks & Rec fans didnât see that one coming. 5. Little Fires Everywhere Developed and written by Casual's Liz Tigelaar, Little Fires Everywhere follows the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family and an enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives. The story explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, the ferocious pull of motherhood â and the danger in believing that following the rules can avert disaster. 6. Hunters Whether itâs in video games or filmmaking, Nazis seem to be making some kind of comeback in recent years. Fortunately, that provides us with plenty of opportunities to depict good guys stomping them out - and Hunters happens to be a show that provides just that. While Al Pacinoâs accent is questionable and maybe the show does slip into cliches, itâs a fun watch and well worth a quick binge. Check out our detailed review here. 7. Dispatches From Elsewhere Remember Marshall from How I Met Your Mother? Dudeâs got his own show now, and itâs as far from a sitcom as you can possibly imagine. Four unsuspecting individuals find themselves invited to a series of experiences they never could have expected. A weird and whimsical journey into the unknown, Dispatches from Elsewhere's experimental approach doesn't always coalesce, but committed performances and a genuine sense of wonder make it a trip worth taking. 8. High Fidelity If youâre into music, modern dating and of course, Zoe Kravitz, chances are that youâll absolutely dig High Fidelity - a show that charts the gentrification of Brooklyn while following the thoughts of Rob, a young record store owner with one hell of a life behind her.
