  1. We all love Jay Sean for his massive hits like Ride It and Down that defined our childhood. In fact, Ride It is a song that keeps getting new versions and is definitely going to be on your upcoming party playlist even today. Recently, Jay Sean released his new single Nakhre in collaboration with Rishi Rich. We caught up with him to know more about this song and his other hits. 1. What can you tell us about your new work? What has inspired you and what's the story that you're trying to put across? My recent body of work has been more focused on the singer/ songwriter genre. It is less production driven and more focused on the lyrical content and musical top line melody. I do have some party bangers, of course, but I recently spent a month writing songs with real meaning and depth. © Instagram/Jay Sean 2. Is Film/Cinematic soundtracks something you would be willing to explore in the future? I have done some work on movies and will continue to do so, as it is a fun and different experience. 3. The Indian music scene has been revolutionized by record labels recently. How did songs like Ride It which were massive hits affect your career and its trajectory? Yes, what’s funny about Ride It is that it has been the gift that keeps on giving. Recently, it was remixed by a DJ called Regard and became one of the biggest songs in the world. To hear my voice on a different up-tempo beat was fun and of course, the fact that it became a hit once again was truly fun. My original Ride It was also the song that got me signed to Cash Money six years ago. There is a lot to be said about the power that massive record labels have, but that said, our recent release, Nakhre was a joint venture between my own label, Kamouflage, and Rishi Rich’s label Break the Noise. And we have currently had so much success it has been number 1 across many charts globally in terms of streams and sales. 4. As rave as the reviews for your music is, there is also a fan base for your sense of fashion. Is fashion something you have a keen interest in? I like to dress well and feel good, that is my take on fashion. I am aware of trends but I will always stick to what I feel most confident in. Not everything that is in fashion will necessarily look good on me though and that's okay. © Instagram/Jay Sean 5. How tough is it to break into the industry? What advice would you give to young artists out there trying to make it in the Indian music scene? It’s hard to say whether it’s harder now or easier now. The one thing I do know is that there is way more competition now than there ever was, but it is also easier than it ever was to get your music out there. You can be unsigned and literally release music across multiple platforms independently. My advice would be to be authentic, it can really work. © Instagram/Jay Sean 6. A growing debate in the industry is centred around artist-producer relationships and whether producers get enough credit. Throughout my career, I have always split the song with the producer equally. Without his or her music, I can’t write melodies -and without my melodies and lyrics, there’s no song! Always best to be fair and do what is right for the sake of the song. I don’t like any bitter feelings or energies around my music. © Instagram/Jay Sean 7. What’s your creative process like? Is it more spontaneous and free-flowing? I am definitely a freestyler. I don’t ever overthink a song. I go on the vibe and feeling only during the creation period of the song. Melodies flow freely and I tend to do those first then I will fill in the lyrics depending on what topic the song feels like to me. After the melodies have been laid down, that’s when I do the tweaking. © Instagram/Jay Sean 8. What has your experience been with Triller? Which was your favourite entry among the videos received for the Triller #nakhrechallenge? There have been so many incredible entries - I have enjoyed lots of them! Working with Triller is such fun and an excellent way to engage with and interact with fans globally. It is a fun and creative platform. © Instagram/Jay Sean 10. How was your experience collaborating with Rishi Rich? What I love about us is that no matter how many years have passed, our vibe together and our way of working has remained exactly the same. We have such chemistry and magic in the way that we bounce off each other musically. We love the same things and disregard the same things. We both know what is the vibe and what’s not, and that’s why it works. 11. What’s the story behind the song Nakhre? Nakhre is a fun, feel-good up-tempo song that sparks nostalgia but feels current and modern at the same time. Lyrically, it is playful, musically it is truly global, encompassing elements of Reggaeton, Afrobeats, Bollywood, RnB, and Punjabi! It’s is fresh and fun. View the full article
  2. The moment we thought 2020 can’t get any worse, Dhinchak Pooja’s new song dropped on the internet titled Roz Roz Ka Kaam . So, like people say simplicity is the essence of happiness- Dhinchak Pooja tried to get it embodied in a song. The song lyrics are literally her defining her Roz Roz Ka Kaam which includes brushing her teeth to taking a bath, and dressing up, and heading to work. Yes, you read that right! pic.twitter.com/7bAvO1IjjL — Dhinchakpooja (@DhinchakPooja) October 15, 2020 The song was released on Youtube and the lyrics go as “Subah uthte hain hum, brush karte hain hum. Phir khaate hain hum, phir jaate hain hum. Chai banaate hain hum, usse peete hain hum. Nahate hain hum, phir taiyyar hote hain hum.” Also, in the song’s video, you can see Dhinchak Pooja enacting every line of the song and you need to watch it to understand what we are trying to tell you. So, here you go- Dhinchak Pooja has turned off her comments for her song on YouTube but the song is doing the rounds on social media and honestly, people are calling the song worse than the virus. Now, we are not very sure if she really knows that people make fun of her songs or what but this song will definitely make your ears bleed. So, here’s what people are saying on the internet about her new song Roz Roz Ka Kaam - pic.twitter.com/D7s3QV4i7t — ritwik (@ritwikbeta) October 16, 2020Please tell me she is being intentionally bad? 7. Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter are pairing up for the first time with their upcoming film, Khaali Peeli. The makers dropped a brand new track, but it seems like people are not approving of the song. Titled Beyonce Sharma Jayegi, the song features Ananya and Ishaan pulling off some impressive moves. People have loved their dance moves but are complaining about the cringeworthy lyrics. The song has been composed by the supremely talented duo Vishal-Shekhar and singers Nakash Aziz and Neeti Mohan have lent their voices. Here's the song: People are not at all happy with how they have compared Ananya to Beyonce. They are slamming the song on social media. Here are the reactions: © Ishaan Khatter Instagram © Ishaan Khatter Instagram © Ishaan Khatter Instagram The lyrics are surely cringe-worthy and we wonder what was the need for such a terrible remix. We really wish Bollywood comes up with some original and refreshing tracks. While Ishaan did impress us with his dance skills, his moves have certainly dwarfed Ananya. Talking about the song, choreographer Caesar Gonsalves told Mumbai Mirror, “We experimented with everything, from popping, locking, fire juggling and b-boying to kalarippayattu and Gujarati folk. Ishaan is a fantastic dancer and picked up the moves with ease while Ananya surprised me with her dedication. We rehearsed for four days and shot over three days." The song incorporates 12 dance forms. Well, people have been wanting to boycott the movie ever since it has been announced. With the song, the makers have also announced the release date and people have flooded social media with reactions. #AnanyaPandey #IshaanKhatter #KhaaliPeeli to release on 2nd octo Rukna nahi hai pic.twitter.com/kktuLfDYgN — ravi shastri (@pbhavesh01) September 7, 2020#KhaaliPeeli People are waiting for finding the trailer and without watching dislike , trust it will shiver down the spine to release anything in ott pic.twitter.com/AnRCOGJVN6 — Bharat Aurangabadkar (@Disruptionext) September 7, 2020Alia Bhatt: log abhi tak sadak 2 ko dislike kar rahe hai... ruk hi nahi rahe.. 12. India is a land of abundant talent and the Internet is a big world in itself, that has given us some heart touching moments. While some rejoice looking at memes or sharing pictures, others resort to change the lives of other people, bringing in happiness for them. In some cases, their lives are transformed completely. © Twitter/Ranu Mondal_Fanclub It all started with Ranu Mondal, whose journey is unforgettable. A homeless woman spotted at a station in West Bengal sang for us and her talent inspired many, just in a video of a few seconds. Himesh Reshammiya recognised her talent and gave her a chance to sing in his movie Happy Hardy and Heer. © Amazon Coming to the latest instance, a clip of a homeless man from Patna has surfaced on social media and the video has gone viral. A short video shows a him singing the rendition of Jim Reeves' song 'He'll Have to Go' in his melodious voice, and the Internet is stunned by the impeccable talent hidden away in the narrow lanes of India. The person who recorded this whole video engaged with him and asked him to several questions. When asked, if he can speak English, he said yes and then the banter goes on which made the video quite heart-melting and interesting. The man asked, "So what do you do for your day to day life?" To this, he replied "I beg" When asked about his food and other dire situations, he said he knows how to manage and didn't complain. He also added "I am a singer and a dancer. My name is Sunny baba." With his magical voice and fluent English, this man from Patna decided to take the internet by storm overnight with Jim Reeves' 'He'll Have To Go' at the end. This song is an iconic one from Jim Reeves' list of songs, that was popular in 1960. The pop song has unforgettable lyrics and is remembered and sung even today. 14. Back on 25th March, rapper Badshah released Genda Phool through label Sony Music India - featuring Jacqueline Fernandes in the music video along with playback singer Payal Dev on lead vocals. Unsurprisingly, the song released to mixed reactions. While no one, in particular, was upset at seeing Fernandes and several Bengali fans appreciated Payal Devâs vocals, Badshah was criticised for tepid lyrics, repetitive production and every artistâs favourite 10-letter word, plagiarism- concerning the lyrical work of Bengali folk songwriter, Ratan Kahar. And all the credit goes to @Its_Badshah & Team? not to the #RatanKahar, writer & composer of the original folk song Simply this isn't right, we felt really bad. â Gourab Das (@gourabdas69) March 29, 2020@Its_Badshah the ultimate plagiarist. How dare you steal the lyrics without giving a credit to Ratan Kahar â Soumyadeep Biswas (@soumyaInt) March 29, 2020Badshah, however, soon played it down. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror in an interview the rapper said, âIf it was a case of plagiarism, we would be facing the consequences by now. The original song has been recreated several times in the past, even in Bengali films, and Ratan ji has never been credited. Itâs sad because royalties are an artisteâs only source of income. I want to share the royalty of this song with him.â The rapper followed this promise by sharing that he wished to âmeet him and record a song with him.â The song in question happens to be Borloker Bitilo - a Santhali folk song from the 1970s that talks about a young man falling in love with a woman from a richer household, a theme that resonated with thousands of Bengalis in the 1980s when the song became widely popular - so much so that fans remembered it even today after listening to Badshahâs track. Badshah had earlier shared a detailed post about how he was trying to reach out to Ratan but was unaware of his whereabouts. According to a report in IANS, Ratan lives in Birbhum districtâs Siuri town with his family. © Twitter On being made aware of the song, Ratan had humbly replied, âIt feels great that such a renowned artist has used my song and has expressed his desire to help me. I have watched his video and I liked it.â He had added, âI hope Badshah will help me. I expect a little monetary help from him. I live in a poverty-stricken condition and will be glad to receive his help.â Soon after, Badshah extended monetary help to the 80-year-old singer-songwriter by paying him Rs 5 lakh upfront, while maintaining his promise of royalties. While weâre not sure yet if this is the exact compensation that Ratan deserves, Badshah was quick to move the conversation to critical appreciation of his work - especially remakes in an era where theyâre becoming less and less welcome. âIt worked but Iâm still asked to play my version wherever I go,â he chuckles, pointing out that he worked on the only remake AR Rahman agreed to. âWe were at an event and he called me from the other end of the room, to say that he really liked my remixed version of âHumma Hummaâ. Now, that was a compliment.â View the full article
  15. This year has already been too much and we haven't even completed three months of 2020 yet. We're dealing with a global pandemic and people are basically quarantined in their houses. And, of course, this was the perfect time for our favourite cringey person to make a comeback. Dhinchak Pooja has released a new song and obviously it's about coronavirus and called Hoga Na Corona. Like always, people are trolling the f*ck out of her and I'm pretty sure she knows she can't sing but she just thrives on the attention, even if it's all negative. Well, at least she can have thousands of people talking about her and listening to her songs. People already think her song about coronavirus is actually way worse than the virus itself, which is pretty harsh, but I guess it is true. The impending April disaster came early.
