  1. “Hum aapki khubsoorti ka raaz hai, aapke sarr ka permanent taj hai,” - yes, the narrator is talking about your hair and the very quirky voiceover by Vijay Raaz, in the beginning, sets the whole mood for Bala, and you are assured that what you have signed up for is not some half-baked dish. Amar Kaushik's new movie, which highlights the ordeal of a prematurely-balding young man, asserts on how our society is obsessed with one's appearance and almost neglects everything else, irrespective of how one is from the inside. Interestingly, the movie kills two birds with one stone as it's not only talking about the woes of a man who has lost his hair at the age of 25 but also targets the unhealthy obsession with fair skin, particularly for women. From attacking age-old, bizarre 'solutions' that help you make your hair grow back (like applying cow dung on your head!) to how fairness creams are being sold by luring darker-skinned people, the movie touches all aspects of our society's obsession with 'looking beautiful', without paying heed to the cost it comes at. © Maddock Films Ayushmann Khurrana, who we know by now has a knack of picking out-of-the-box scripts, shines bright once again in Bala. He is the perfect fit for a script like this, as his character is convincing and relatable. A man consumed by self-loathing and his continuous hair-loss makes him even more miserable and he desperately looks for a permanent solution to get back the perfect hair that he had in his childhood. How would you react if you were the hottest person in the school because of your hair and cut to the present, you are struggling to keep a lush mane on your head. It's pretty common knowledge that men are obsessed with their hair and premature balding is a subject which was neglected earlier but now, the movie is trying to create a healthy discussion around this matter © Maddock Films Khurrana adds a certain vulnerability to the character and makes a point to convey the message with some well-written dialogues in the movie. In the movie, Bala falls in love with a TikTok sensation Pari (Yami Gautam) who is only obsessed with looking good all the time (in a way, the movie also attacks the whole social media culture). Following a failed attempt to tell Pari the truth about his wig, the two get married and when Pari discovers the truth, her reaction is just epic. Truly, Yami has done a brilliant job and you will end up feeling mighty impressed by her work. © Maddock Films As I mentioned earlier, the movie has also dealt with how our society tends to look down upon darker-skinned women. In the movie, it's through Bhumi Pednekar's character, Latika that the director touches upon this much-talked-about, but often neglected issue in our society. Bhumi doesn't believe in outer beauty but focuses on the idea of accepting the real you. But somewhere, I feel the movie had more potential in terms of showing the predicaments faced by the dark-skinned people in our country. Well, I cannot really complain here since the movie is about premature balding and still, they have tried to incorporate this issue. The movie boldly attacks the idea of using fairness creams that promote the concept of fairness being equivalent to being beautiful. © Maddock Films All the three leads have given their messages loud and clear but it's always the supporting cast that helps the lead actors shine. In Bala, we have an ensemble cast that includes Saurabh Shukla, Abhishek Banerjee, Seema Pahwa, and Javed Jaffrey. They help in bringing the extra laughs and have given justice to their roles and somewhere, without them, the movie wouldn't have been this interesting. © Maddock Films Now, moving to technicalities, the movie's music and score blends perfectly well and glides smoothly with the narrative of the movie. It has been shot pretty well and there are no such bumpy rides in the film. To sum it up, Bala is a light-hearted comedy that hits the bullseye with the message being loud and clear, which is to accept the real you and overcome the fear of body shaming. Takla, Nata, Mota, Patla, Gora, Kala are just tags and they don't define the real you. Bala is a must-watch indeed and I strongly recommend you to check it out at the earliest. View the full article
  2. Recently, President Ram Nath Kovind, in a kind gesture, paid attention to a policewoman who fell and had apparently twisted her ankle during an award function in the Capital. According to the PTI report, the cop was standing in front of the dais at Vigyan Bhawan during the first National CSR Awards function in the city, when she collapsed while the national anthem was playing. Subsequently after the anthem was over, President Kovind walked down from the dais along with Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman, and Union Minister Anurag Thakur to attend to the cop. Soon, the video of the incident went viral on social media. Check out the video here: #WATCH A woman security personnel deputed at National Corporate Social Responsibility Awards event collapsed during playing of National Anthem, today.President Kovind, FM Nirmala Sitharaman & MoS Finance Anurag Thakur came down the stage to inquire about her health. #Delhi pic.twitter.com/HUSvzkizHu — ANI (@ANI) October 29, 2019 Besides, President Kovind also offered the policewoman a bottle of water while having a brief conversation with her. Usually, the president leaves the venue soon after the national anthem gets over but this noble gesture of his was loved by the audience, who lauded him with applause as he walked out from the venue, stated the news report. VIP culture still exists in India and despite that, such kind gesture, which was both surprising and heartwarming, is totally worth appreciating. View the full article

  4. Elon Musk, are you doing okay, buddy? Everything good? You know, you can always talk to professionals about your addiction, your addiction to memes. Yep, it's no secret that our favourite billionaire may have developed a little bit of an obsession with memes recently and that too, memes involving him. Everyone loves having a good laugh and Elon probably is just making sure to keep everyone happy, and it's honestly great to see him make jokes at his expense. Just a few days ago, he blessed us with this piece of art. Oh hi lol pic.twitter.com/9WvbtTHoxS — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 26, 2019 Now, he's posted another meme involving himself and it's honestly the true face of horror. Take a look. 5. Akshay Kumar never ceases to amaze us with all the outrageous things he does. He's the ultimate stuntman of Bollywood and well, his stunts are now even escaping the big screen to real-life. He can set any stage or runway on fire just because it's him, but yesterday, he decided to make things a little more literal. By now, everyone has probably seen a literally lit Akshay Kumar walking down the ramp in a suit that was on fire. Literally, all fired up for my association with @PrimeVideoIN's THE END (working title). Trust me, this is only the beginning ð@JSalke @vikramix @Abundantia_Ent pic.twitter.com/BL2PS4iJPQ — Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) March 5, 2019 Akshay Kumar is honestly the only person in the world who would light himself on fire to promote a show, and the only explanation is that he's Akshay Kumar. 6. Neymar Jr., the world's most expensive footballer, may have been ruled out for 10 weeks because of a metatarsal injury, but that didn't stop him from celebrating his birthday in the most epic (and fashionable) way possible. He wore a red suit, layered impeccably and accessorized with a hat. © Instagram The fact that he's truly fashion forward was proved by his choice of outfit and the way he accessorized them. Who in the world would have thought of using one's crutches as a fashion accessory? He just did that by carrying crutches that matched the colour of his outfit. © Instagram © Instagram Coming to footwear, he wore a pair of Jordans by Nike that had his name and birthday written on them. 7. Ten years is a long, long time. That much time can change your life for the better or for the worse, but thankfully, for Rahul Jadhav, it was the former. He went from being an autorickshaw driver, struggling to make ends meet on a salary of â¹200 to becoming the mayor of a city, and now his life is changing drastically. The 36-year-old has now been declared the mayor of the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad at the PCMC headquarters in Maharashtra. Twitter Since he has faced a lot of hardships, he wants to do everything in his power to help people in similar situations. While talking to The Indian Express, he said, “I know the pain of ordinary people like autorickshaw drivers. During my tenure as the mayor, I will work for the upliftment of the poor.” For five years, he used to drive a six-seater autorickshaw in Chikhli, Bhosari and Moshi areas. Then, he tried out farming as an alternative job, but soon shifted back to driving to earn a liveable wage. But, things got better in 2007 when he joined the MNS. Soon after that, he was elected to the PCMC on an MNS seat. Twitter Jumping to 2017, he joined BJP and was elected from the Jadhavwadi area by a small margin of 3,000 votes. Now, he will serve one year as the mayor of the industrial city of Pimpri-Chinchwad.
  8. We hate them. They are our greatest enemies. Sometimes, we even wish for them to disappear from our lives. But, we also love them so much that we're ready to turn the world upside down if someone dares to mess with them. There are no points for guessing that I am talking about our siblings. I am sure I am not alone in getting jealous of them, assuming they had things easy in life. But, in reality, they were the ones who actually struggled throughout their lives. They always tried to push themselves, not only to prove to their parents that they are worth something, but to also set an example for us to follow. And one of India's leading comedians, Bhuvan Bam's story only reiterates the same. Instagram Recently, in a post shared by Humans of Bombay on Instagram, Bhuvan Bam who is known for 'BB Ki Vines', opened up about his brother and his dream of becoming a pilot. “My brother was always adored by everyone in school and at home. We all wanted him to become a pilot someday…even though it took a lot of money – my parents were ready to do anything to watch him fly,” the post read. In the post he mentioned how his superman brother had to struggle so much to fulfill his dream. After his brother, Aman, met with an accident and injured his knee cap, Bhuvan and his family feared and that his brother will give up on his dream. While, he was recovering, people started throwing comments on him. Aman couldn't handle the pain and the harsh words and took to alcohol. Instagram On one hand where people were appreciating his success, the same people were busy criticizing his brother's so called “failures”. How can we forget, commenting on other's “failure” come as naturally to some as breathing! But, he didn't give up. “Frustrated with these taunts, he eventually snapped and decided to prove himself. He quit drinking, picked up the pieces and started working as the ground staff for an airline. But he never gave up on his dream of becoming a pilot.” The post further read, “I've always been proud to call Aman my brother…but after the way he's turned his life around, I'm in complete awe of him. For someone who has had to give up on his dream and build himself back up all over again, he can't be labeled as anything but a hero – and now he can fly too! He's most definitely Superman!” “My brother was always adored by everyone in school and at home. We all wanted him to become a pilot someday… even though it took a lot of money––my parents were ready to do anything to watch him fly. One evening, after he was back from flight school, he decided to go out with his friends. But he wasn't back by midnight and somehow we just knew that he had gotten into an accident. Right then a car pulled up with my brother inside––his knee cap was broken and bleeding so we rushed him to the hospital. We were told that his recovery was going to take a long time. While I was terrified that he would have to give up on his dream, I had never felt so thankful that my brother had somehow survived. Because of his recovery time, he had to stay at home and go for physiotherapy while watching his friends become pilots. I don't think anyone's witnessed the amount of pain he has gone through––it was easy for people to throw comments like 'Ab Aman kya karega?' But I saw the tears that those comments caused. He couldn't handle the pain of losing everything that he had built himself up for––he turned to alcohol. At this point, my career had taken off, and while everyone was calling to congratulate my father for my successes, they always mentioned my brother's so called “failures”—why do people always find the need to compare? Frustrated with these taunts, he eventually snapped and decided to prove himself. He quit drinking, picked up the pieces and started working as the ground staff for an airline. But he never gave up on his dream of becoming a pilot. In fact, he worked twice as hard. The universe finally listened and he found out about a vacancy for an airline and applied for it. He cleared all his exams, went for the training again and finally got the position! We celebrated with a pizza party at home––it was the best night ever! I've always been proud to call Aman my brother...but after the way he's turned his life around, I'm in complete awe of him. For someone who has had to give up on his dream and build himself back up all over again, he can't be labeled as anything but a hero––and now he can fly too! He's most definitely Superman!" A post shared by Humans of Bombay (@officialhumansofbombay) on Jun 24, 2018 at 5:30am PDT Honestly, we don't just get orders, comparison, be-my-slave days or hand-me-downs from our elder brothers or sisters; we often get life lessons and inspiration from them, which no other teacher in this world can ever give us.
  9. As the final whistle blew in Volgograd, the England fans breathed a sigh of relief as they picked up their first victory at a World Cup since 2010. Fans rejoiced in the streets of London and why not? They had just witnessed England win at a World Cup for the first time in 8 years with a genuinely praiseworthy performance. © Reuters Although England fans had to wait until the 91st minute of the match before roaring, it was their captain Harry Kane they really rooted for as he led from the front and headed in the winner. In a team devoid of “superstars”, Harry Kane, owned the show against Tunisia and showed exactly why he's one of the best strikers in the world right now. Kane – The Predator Having scored 30 goals in the Premier League in the season gone by, Harry Kane serves as the only real goal scoring outlet that England can consistently rely on. As pundits decipher the various facets of his game, it was his biggest quality on display against Tunisia, his tenacity. On a day when England's finishing was extremely woeful and his hold up play, surprisingly suspect, he realized that set plays served as his best chance to score on the day. © Reuters What followed was the perfect execution of training ground set pieces. Kane wasn't the first to react on both the corners that resulted in goals, but his predatory instincts meant that he found himself unmarked when the ball eventually fell to his feet. Such game intelligence was previously credited to Thomas Muller who desperately fell short against Mexico. © Reuters Neither did Gabriel Jesus or Kylian Mbappe do enough in their first matches. However, Kane's display against Tunisia proved that great strikers don't necessarily need to have the best of games. Rather, it is their penchant to draw goals from unlikely situations which puts them among the best. Combine Kane's tenacity with his finishing, passing and physical abilities and we have a textbook striker who will prove to be one of the best for many years to come. Kane – The Leader While the technical aspects of Kane's game are undoubtedly brilliant, it is something far more intangible that is likely to make him a footballing immortal. His passion and desire to lead a team and see them through really sets him apart. © Reuters His discipline and regimen with his club have regularly been lauded and it is that level of dedication and focus that he brings to this team. And the result was there to witness. The entire team rallied behind their captain and pounced on him as England broke the deadlock. Subsequently, the vanity of such a moment did not consume him as he caught the game by the scruff of the neck and scored the winner just when his team needed him most. In the days preceding the game, Kane arrogantly proclaimed that he wished to emulate Ronaldo's hat-trick in his first game. Given how unforgiving the media has been to him this season, it seemed like a reckless statement to make. However, he scored a brace, and came very close to achieving that feat which in itself is a massive statement of intent. With such a high performance benchmark, expectations from Kane are very high, but with such talent and self-belief, few doubt that he could emerge as one of the stars of this World Cup.
  10. Throughout our childhood, we were told that we should always obey our elders and listen to everything they say, without questioning them. But, we guess sometimes it's ok to listen to children and follow their footsteps too. Because it's children, who unknowingly teach us some of the greatest lessons of life, which even learned people are not able to at times. I am sure in every school, there was a good 15 to 20 minutes dedicated to morning assemblies where we all used to sing the national anthem and on special occasions 'Saare Jahan Se Acha'. I still remember that there was a particular line, “Mazhab nahi sikhata aapas mein bair rakhna.” (Religion does not teach us to fight amongst ourselves.) © twitter representation This young kid taught us the real meaning of that line and what being secular truly means. A twitter user named Rohan recently shared the story of his daughter innocently combining Hinduism and Islam. He wrote, “My daughter just said that she needs to do the namaz. She bent down in proper Muslim prayer form and started chanting the Gayatri mantra, because that's the only prayer she knows.” My daughter just said that she needs to do the namaz. 11. Changing names on social media or taking their partners' names isn't a big deal for most of us. In fact, after marriage most women do that, isn't it? But, when Sonam Kapoor changed her name to 'Sonam K Ahuja' on her social media platforms, everyone lost their minds. Many even trolled her for calling herself a feminist, when eventually she took up her husband Anand Ahuja's last name. Sonam Kapoor Sonam Kapoor Ahuja Sonam K Ahuja Sonamakapoor Poor girl. So confused what to call herself now to fit feminist standards. pic.twitter.com/UCRCYGQv5l — Deepika Bhardwaj (@DeepikaBhardwaj) May 10, 2018 . Ohh so ... A feminist changed her last name ... Why ? Is it woman empowerment ? — मलà¤à¤ ð¦ (@kuldeepkarwasr7) May 9, 2018 First of all, people really need to get a good dictionary to understand the true meaning of the term 'feminism'. And second of all, trolling someone for their decisions regarding their personallives isn't cool at all. In fact, Sonam herself addressed all those trolls and reportedly said, “If people don't understand the concept of feminism, they need to go online and look at the description. And how do you know Anand has not changed his name?” Twitter She further said, “I am a true feminist. I believe in my choice. My husband or his family have not asked me to do anything. I have decided to do it myself. I never asked my husband to do it. He did it himself.” Instagram While, the internet continued to troll her, we were more concerned about what she said about Anand changing his name. So, we tapped into our inner Sherlock and searched his profile and voila! Anand just proved to the whole world what equality in any relationship truly means and earned our respect as well. Just like Sonam, Anand too changed his name and added Sonam's name to his. So his profile now reads 'Anand S Ahuja'. Instagram In case you're confused and thinking that it can be the initial letter of his father, Sunil Ahuja's name too, you're not alone. We thought the same, but Sonam kind of cleared the confusion with her Instagram story. Instagram The same Twitter that once mocked Sonam, was clearly impressed with Anand and let's just say he's set the benchmark really high for all the men out there. Anand Ahuja just added Sonam's name to his! Okay is this a benchmark? Coz I think it is ð Find yourself an Anand Ahuja u guys! — Atrayee (@atraychoudhury) May 17, 2018 O God.This Man Raised The Bar Sooooo High.Hubby Goals. This Kind Of Man What We Need.He Added His Wife Name As His Surname. 13. It takes a lot from an actor to make his own place in Bollywood without a godfather. Ali Fazal is one of those few names who has made their own path, faced the challenges and made it big without any strings. In an industry where actors are still struggling to get a grip on the nuances of acting, this man has done some exceptional films and has already got a major fan following around the globe. Being in Bollywood, which is very much dominated by a few names, it's stunning to see how Ali is making his way up the ladder with his talent. This is what makes him a shining example of the quote 'where there is a will, there is a way.' Looking at last year, we can say that it has been all rainbows and butterflies for Ali who has upped his career graph by becoming a part of some major projects. And the most noticeable one is his recent movie 'Victoria & Abdul' with veteran actress and Oscar winner, Dame Judi Dench. While it takes ages for actors to establish themselves overseas, he has not only worked with an exceptional actor but also became the first Indian actor to get featured in an international biopic. Even though the movie didn't do wonders at the box office in India, his stellar performance was raved about. Ali sure is a happy man these days. From a booming career to being in a happy relationship with his lady love Richa Chadha, he is living the life one always imagines. What's remarkable is that he wants to find interesting projects but not get typecast, a thing that many actors forget while signing movies. At present, he is shooting for his next Hollywood project. Clearly, he is making it big like a boss and there is no stopping him. So today, we bring you some never-before-seen exclusive pictures of him by ace London based photographer Sinbad Phugra. Shot across London's nook and corners and bustling streets, the photos introduce us to different shades of Ali that prove he is the next big thing. 15. Sports mirrors the society and just like any other aspect of culture, it can act as a mechanism for both political and societal change. Since it doesn't exist in a vacuum, functioning in isolation and alienating itself from what is happening around the world is definitely not how it's supposed to be. And, this is where sportspersons come into play. Sports icons are influential public figures who are likely to make an impression on the country's youth. Their huge fan base gives them the power to influence the minds of the fans. So, at a time when Indian soldiers are paying with their lives to safeguard national interest, by sharing their work-out videos or posting holiday selfies, they unknowingly tell the youth that it is probably okay not to have an opinion. That it is okay to continue living within your own walls, and not engage. © BCCL In a series of counter-insurgency operations in three different areas of South Kashmir, the Indian armed forces handed a major setback to the terror groups in the Valley on Sunday. A total of 12 terrorists were gunned down in what turned out to be one of the biggest counter-offensives against terrorist outfits in recent times in Kashmir. The operations did render a severe blow to terror groups such as Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba, but it sadly came at the cost of five lives. Two civilians and three Army jawans lost their lives during the grueling operations. While the details on how or why the two civilians were killed aren't revealed, the demise of the three Army soldiers once again highlighted the never-ending sacrifices they make to keep us safe. It was absolutely wonderful to see the pride with which @msdhoni wore his Territorial army uniform while receiving the well deserved #PadmaBhushan today, exactly 7 years after we won the 2011 World Cup. Heartiest congratulations ! pic.twitter.com/ROdMdM7aQk — VVS Laxman (@VVSLaxman281) April 2, 2018 And, that's what probably instigated Mahendra Singh Dhoni's touching message for the Indian armed forces after he was bestowed with the honour of the 'Padma Bhushan'. Dhoni, who holds the rank of Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army, wore his uniform for the gala ceremony where he was presented with the country's highest civilian award by President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday. An honour to get the Padma Bhushan and receiving it in Uniform increases the excitement ten folds.thanks to all the Men and Women in Uniform and their families for the Sacrifices they make so that all of us could enjoy our Constitutional Rights.Jai Hind A post shared by @ mahi7781 on Apr 2, 2018 at 11:36pm PDT If his decision to don the army uniform elated Indian cricket fans, the Jharkhand cricketer's heartfelt message for the jawans further established his reputation as one true patriot. On Tuesday, the former Indian captain took to Instagram and wrote: "An honour to get the Padma Bhushan and receiving it in Uniform increases the excitement ten folds. thanks to all the Men and Women in Uniform and their families for the Sacrifices they make so that all of us could enjoy our Constitutional Rights. Jai Hind". Incidentally, Dhoni was conferred with the prestigious civilian honour on the seventh anniversary of India's famous ICC World Cup triumph in 2011. While his leadership skills propelled the Men in Blue to the final, his mighty six eventually secured the second World Cup title for India. But, in the age where sports stars generally turn a blind eye to such issues, it was great to see the mercurial Dhoni breaking the monotony and rallying behind the unsung heroes of the country while highlighting their plight.
  16. When it's your birthday, chances are you go on fancy dinners, throw a house party where people get drunk and dance till they drop on the floor, or if you have the best friends on the planet, then maybe you plan a small trip to the hills, right? Well, Bollywood does not believe in doing anything ordinary. After all, it is the industry that sells you dreams and grand ideas, so how do you expect people from B-town to have ordinary birthdays? Currently, the 'it' group of Bollywood: Kareena, her sister Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Malaika Arora and a few others are setting the Goan waters on fire with their party skills as they call in Amrita Arora's 40th birthday. #eternalthreesome♥ï¸...#ammuhottyturns40 A post shared by Malaika Arora Khan (@malaikaarorakhanofficial) on Jan 30, 2018 at 8:20am PST Lets get this party started....... ammuuuuuu @therealkarismakapoor @maheepkapoor @seemakhan76 @mallika_bhat @dollysidhwani @rozz_truly @natasha.poonawalla #bebo #ammuhottyat40#happy #40#saifu#happyhippee#goa A post shared by Malaika Arora Khan (@malaikaarorakhanofficial) on Jan 30, 2018 at 12:04am PST Their entire star-studded crew of buddies flew to the party venue in a private jet, because that's how you do birthdays when you are freaking rich. #herewecomeð#amu's40th#goa#friendshipgoalsðâ¤ï¸ A post shared by KK (@therealkarismakapoor) on Jan 30, 2018 at 12:27am PST We can't really make out the theme of this birthday party but the pictures are pretty good. 17. He is no longer the cricketer he once used to be for India. A batsman who was known as one of the greatest finishers in international cricket, is now only a shadow of himself. He has stepped down from his duties as Indian captain and with age catching up, the Jharkhand cricketer should hang his gloves. The critics left no stone unturned while criticising Mahendra Singh Dhoni in recent past. While the naysayers have been firing verbal volleys, the former Indian skipper maintaining his calm and composed demeanor has never let the criticism affect his game or decisions. Despite his dip in form, he continues to be vital cog for the Indian cricket team. © BCCL But, while MSD continues to prove his critics wrong on the field, another Dhoni is set to call time on his glorious career. On 13 December, when India and Sri Lanka will lock horns in the second ODI, Dhoni - a white Labrador - will be deployed one last time as part of the security detail at the PCA stadium in Mohali. The sniffer dog, named after the former Indian skipper, has been working with the Mohali district police for the last 10 years. He is set to complete his service with the police department and retire after the ODI match. In a bid to acknowledge his services, the police will also hold a formal farewell ceremony for Dhoni. © BCCL Following his retirement, Dhoni will be made available for adoption to general public. The adoption process will be done through an auction. The reserve price for an opening bid is believed to be set at Rs 800. The white Labrador, who joined the district police on 10 February 2007, has a lot more in common with MSD than just his popular last name. Just like the 36-year-old has been pivotal for Team India over the years, the sniffer dog has proved to be a vital cog for the police department, assisting them in many high-profile security operations and solving important cases including the arrest of some drug peddlers. Brought from Ahmednagar at the age of just three months, Dhoni was trained at the Phillaur police academy before his stint with the department. “Dhoni used to assist us in checking at PCA stadium during the international matches. During the world cup semifinal in 2011 between India and Pakistan, when the Prime Ministers of both the countries came to the city, Dhoni was working with us,” Amrik Singh, in-charge of the dog squad, was quoted as saying by Chandigarh Newsline. © BCCL Dhoni also played a crucial role during security operations in Zirakpur when Dera Sacha Sauda followers were escorted out of Mohali by the district police in aftermath of the violence in August this year. The white labrador efficiently carried on the duties of sniffing out explosives from passengers' bags. That's not all. Just like the Indian cricketer, this Dhoni, too, loves eating eggs and drinking milk. According to the in-charge of the dog squad, Dhoni drinks three litres of milk everyday and eats 20 to 30 eggs in his three set of meals per day. As the glorious career of Dhoni the Labrador comes to an end, the Indian cricketer - who's a self-proclaimed dog lover - will undoubtedly be proud of this canine's achievements for he has truly lived up to his popular name.

  19. When we talk of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, we talk about how brilliant an actor he is. We talk about how he comes from a humble background and once worked as a watchman while struggling as an actor. What we don't know is how he faced an acute sense of rejection at every step and the ordeal became so insufferable that he began to believe death was close. Nawazuddin's life is as dramatic and inspirational as a cinematic story rolling on a 70mm screen. A simple village boy whose mother had to pawn her jewellery to make him go to college, arrives in Mumbai to make it big and he does. It makes you feel good about life and gives you hope. But it's not as simple as that. When you go through the story holding his hand and see every struggle, you realise success is not a reward, it's what keeps you alive. © BCCL In his memoir 'An Ordinary Life', Nawazuddin pens down his story (along with co-author Rituparna Chatterjee) and it's a tale of sweat, blood and tears. A quiet village in Budhana, Uttar Pradesh, a family of 9 children and a meager income – it was as ordinary a life in rural India as can be. In a place where making ends meet is an everyday priority and where discrimination is inherited, dreams often go only as far as getting a college degree and a job. But Nawazuddin, even though deeply grounded in his reality, never shied away from ambition. © Facebook/Nawazuddin Siddiqui One particular incident proved life-changing for him. When he was merely 12, he took up a summer job as an assistent in a chemist shop. His heart was not in the job and he was subject to a lot of humiliation from his boss. That day the 12-year-old boy learnt a lesson that would stay with him forever. “I realized that I might not be good at doing this particular thing, but this was not the only thing in the world,” he writes in his biography. © Facebook/Nawazuddin Siddiqui There are certain moments in life when we realise we are not going to give up. This was one of them for Nawazuddin. But tinsel town is capable of breaking the strongest of spirits. Years later, he was to experience the hardest phase of his life. As a struggling actor in Mumbai, Nawazuddin had reached the farthest point of his endurance. No work, no money, no love. Having spent years mastering acting at Bhartendu Natya Academy and National School of Drama, he found himself begging for work. The fact that he was dark and skinny ensured he got roles that stereotyped him into being a nobody. “I was getting rejected from all corners. Women rejected me. Bare necessities like food rejected me. Between 2005 and 2007, I was secretly homeless. I would sleep at one friend's house, have breakfast at another friend's, lunch at yet another friend's house.” © Anurag Kashyap Films Nawaz was at a point where he had no money for food and went days without eating. When they ask you how badly you want something, it is this. Nawaz had the option of giving up, of returning home or finding a 9-to-6 job and live a life of no ambition. He was at a point where he was so wasted he was sure he was going to die. Famished to the point that his bones stuck out from his flesh, Nawaz was consumed by a belief that death was round the corner. This is how it'd end, he thought. This is how the curtain would fall on his story. “I was so weak that I fainted out of hunger on the streets […] I felt that I would die soon. […] So I stayed out of the house all the time. I watched every little mundane detail with great interest so that I would have no regrets left that I had not seen stuff. Streetlights, buildings, buses and all kinds of banalities.” © Facebook/Nawazuddin Siddiqui In the book, he talks about how he would drop by at his friends' houses unannounced at lunch time, hoping people would offer him food. Penniless, homeless, jobless, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was waiting for a miracle. He reveals he did not have enough money to afford an auto to his friend's place at Yari Road and he'd walk the stretch in the muggy Mumbai afternoons just to get a morsel of food. Back in his hometown, his wealthy Zamindar grandfather, in his heyday and much before Nawaz was born, would donate land the size of Yari Road on a whim. The contrast of what could have been and what was his life was huge. And yet, he did not return home. When you want success as badly as your dear life, you can be sure you'd succeed. He stayed in the city that showed him the worst phase of his life, and he kept moving. His was the story of thousands of aspiring actors who come to Mumbai every year, only to have their back broken with the industry's relentless impenetrable exterior. Some gave up and returned, some gave in and compromised, some persisted and got spent. Nawazuddin Siddiqui went on. © Anurag Kashyap Films With constant rejection, both from his profession and from women around him, Nawazuddin decided to focus on his work. Success finally came but Nawaz had seen enough of life to be swayed by it. Despite the huge amount of critical acclaim of his work, he remains humble and is quick to admit to his fallacies. Talking about the role that he catapulted him to fame, that of Faisal Khan in 'Gangs of Wasseypur', he reveals he had almost messed it up. “Many think that I delivered an astounding performance in 'Gangs of Wasseypur'. But the truth is that I had almost ruined the character of Faisal Khan—by trying too hard, way too hard to exude power, because, well, isn't a gangster supposed to be powerful? Should he not display power to invoke fear wherever he goes? 'No way, Nawaz!' Anurag quipped. 'Just calm down. You are a gangster. They are already afraid of you, dude. You don't need to do anything.'” Nawazuddin Siddiqui's success was not accidental, it was a long hard journey to brilliance. One that took sweat, blood and tears. His very humble background helped him stay in touch with reality and portray roles with a realism that comes from living them firsthand. In the end, life has come full circle and his talent has found due credit.
  20. Look, if you are a little older than your peers, don't worry, age is no limit when it comes to switching up your career. The movie says nothing new but conveys the same message that every wise man would say, 'do what you love'! There is a ton of camaraderie, silly freshman days, fun, friendship all packed in a single strong message presented in a remarkable manner. If you haven't watched '3 Idiots' yet, we bet you will become a die-hard fan of both Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani after watching the movie. And did you know there's even a Mexican version of '3 Idiots'? See. I wasn't kidding.
  21. Even though many of us have aims, we usually don't share them with the world. Sometimes these dreams and ambitions never come true. Why? The reason could be a number of causes but generally, it is due to the reason that we fear we might fail. We fear commitment towards our goal, we fear our potential, we fear peer pressure and so on. But, most of the time that fear is intrinsic and not extrinsic. i.e if it is intrinsic we can control it and if it is extrinsic like being stuck on a deserted island then maybe we can't. Here is a quote from well-known Winston Churchill on fear, courage, success. © ITV "Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts," said Winston S. Churchill, former British Prime minister So what counts here is the process and not the product, because when you are at it, you can only control the present and that is the process. You don't have control over the outcome or the final result. Here is the crux of the story. All you need to succeed in life is a commitment towards your goal. Whatever gets in your way in life, you must chase what you really care about. That is one deciding difference between ambitious dreamers and ones who actually succeed. Here are the two steps that can help narrow your vision towards your goal. 1. Try new things and discover your niche ©izquotes.com It could be anything, like being physically fit so you become a fitness coach and more. You could be good in mathematics and look at being a scientist. You could be good in writing, someday you may get a chance to write a script for a movie. The opportunities are endless, only if you try. So try and find what you love doing and by that, I mean something that comes effortlessly to you and also gives you satisfaction and monetary benefits. The point I am trying to make here is to first go on an exploration mission to find your niche and when you find it, focus all your attention towards achieving it. Do not get into multiple business or fields at a time because if you do, you will come out with an average result or worse, may even fail. Listen to your gut feeling and be true to yourself. So, finding your niche is your aim and the ladder of success will start building. Ultimately you will become a master of that subject. 2. Be committed to your niche ©Everyday Power Blog The next and most important thing is being committed to your goal. No matter what the situation may be but if you are breathing then every single cell in your body must be committed to that goal. Other than that, everything else is either an excuse or an extrinsic factor you do not have control upon. You fail, you get up. You fail again, you get up again. And you will do that automatically if you have rightfully earned your true niche. You won't need any motivational pill to get up hundred more times but the inspiration will sprout from within each time you strike the unbreakable wall. It may not break instantly but then eventually it will fall down and you will move on towards your next goal. This is a two-step procedure and is as simple as it could be when you first taste success and as complex as it could be if you never do. The choice is always yours to make. Be the hero of your own life.
  22. The concept of having a stunt double for actors is nothing new; however, there are some actors who prefer doing all the stunts themselves. That they don't depend on a stuntman to shoot difficult scenes is what possibly makes us fall for them over and over again. One such handsome actor who is known for performing his own stunts on the sets is 55-year-old actor Tom Cruise. Having said that, apart from the pressure of performing stunts properly the actors are often thrown in the risk of getting hurt or injured, and Cruise who is currently busy shooting for his upcoming movie ‘Mission Impossible 6', learned it the hard way after he got ended up crashing into a wall. © Paramount Pictures Cruise, who was secured to a wired harness, was filming a difficult scene where he had to jump from one building to another. However, it looks like he misjudged a leap and ended up crashing (not once but twice) into the brick wall in London, where the scene was being filmed. Although it's not clear how bad the injury is but after the first hit, he was seen limping while walking away, before being helped by the crew members. In the second attempt he was hanging midair before pulling himself up the rooftop. The sixth installment of ‘Mission Impossible' is slated to release on July 27, 2018 and will also star Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Cavill, Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin, and Michelle Monaghan among others. The movie is being directed by Christopher McQuarrie who has earlier worked with Cruise on ‘Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation'. While we hope for Cruise to have a speedy recovery, we can't help but say that waiting for Ethan Hunt to be back in action is getting harder with each passing day. Source: Variety
  23. Since the whole film industry is majorly based on looks, there's a lot of pressure to be fit, or at least look like you are. A person needs to be fit to stay and survive in the industry for a long time. Ganesh Acharya is an excellent choreographer and is known for his incredible dancing skills, but he was more famous for his weight, which is quite unfortunate and unfair, tbh. But, not anymore! He has now lost all that weight and recently showed off his new look. Hard work pays off ! A post shared by Pursue what you preach🗣 (@ganeshacharyaa) on Dec 15, 2016 at 12:43am PST Tired of all the fat-shaming, the talented choreographer and National Award winner has lost 85 kgs in one and a half year! Sounds unbelievable, right? His hard work paid off and he looks so happy now! He documented his weight-loss journey on his Instagram page, and it's honestly quite inspiring. Mummyyyyyyyyyy🙈 A post shared by Pursue what you preach🗣 (@ganeshacharyaa) on Jan 18, 2017 at 1:47am PST He recently spoke to the Hindustan Times about this change and said, “Karna hi tha! Ek soch thi ki I just have to do this. Logon ne Ganesh Acharya ko mota hi dekha hai (I had to do this! I had thought that I just have to do this. People have only seen the fat Ganesh Acharya), that's why I wanted to change the image. I have lost almost 85kg now.” He said that even though it was a difficult process, he never gave up. “It was tough for me. I have been working on my body for the past one-and-a-half years. I had even put on 30-40kg for my film ‘Hey Bro' (2015), and my weight had then touched 200kg. Ab vahi weight utaar raha hoon (I am shedding that weight now).” Gym in abudabi 😎 A post shared by Pursue what you preach🗣 (@ganeshacharyaa) on Mar 4, 2017 at 4:26am PST He feels like after this miraculous transformation, he has more energy. “I danced even when I had so much weight, but the difference between then and now is that the energy in my dance has doubled,” he explained. 24. Sony may have beaten everyone to the punch as latest rumours suggest that the company may have just made the world's first truly bezel-less smartphone. Earlier at IFA, there were claims that Sharp may make the first truly bezel-less device, but it seems like Sony may have just overtaken them by a whisker. Weibo is notorious for leaks, most of them are fake, however, a display manufacturer, JDI has announced that they will mass produce a full active QHD display. You may ask how this makes any difference, well, JDI is a joint venture which comprises of companies like Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi. Which denotes that the technology to make bezel-less smartphones is already there and Sony may just bank on this opportunity. © Weibo It maybe our wishful thinking to have a full bezel-less device that looks appealing to the eye and have features that may be unique. The Weibo post suggests that the Sony device will have a 6-inch LCD panel and will have 18:9 Univisum aspect ratio. This is a similar setup to the LG G6 and is also very close to the Galaxy S8. The new refined and innovative design may just change the company's fortune as Sony's smartphone business has been suffering a great deal. Companies like Xiaomi have already shown off their bezel-less devices such as the Mi Mix but it still isn't up to the mark. Sony is notoriously known to include bulky and large bezels on their device, and this move may just be a breath of fresh air for the company. © Weibo If this rumour comes true, we can expect the smartphone to be overpriced as Sony smartphones are not known to be wallet friendly. However, being a Weibo rumour, we can all expect it to be fake and if it turns out to be true, feel free to get enraged.
