  1. iPhone users have been asking for a display with a higher refresh rate ever since Android devices and the iPad Pro lineup started to use a 120Hz refresh rate panel. It seems like Apple may finally go through with the plan for the next iPhone according to insiders that have long eluded the Cupertino giant’s smartphones. © Unsplash/denis-cherkashin Apple has been using the “ProMotion” display on the iPad Pro for a number of years where the screen is capable of a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Many iPhone fans have long been wanting the same upgrade for the iPhone, however it has remained an exclusive feature for Apple’s tablets. A higher refresh-rate display will not only be beneficial for mobile gaming, but it would also provide a smoother and more responsive experience. Now, according to supplier reports from South Korea, Samsung Display will be supplying Apple its latest LTPO OLED panels for the next iPhone. These panels are capable of a120Hz refresh rate without sacrificing battery life as we have already seen on other smartphones like the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the OnePlus 9 Pro. It is not known what's the exact volume Samsung Display will be supplying but it is expected to be limited to the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max models only. © Unsplash/frederik-lipfert Not all models of the iPhone 13 will be getting the higher refresh rate display. Much like the iPhone 12 Series, the next iPhone is touted to have four models where the higher refresh rate display will only be used for the ‘Pro’ models. Previous leaks have given us more information about the next iPhone like the notch getting smaller this time around. The smartphone is also expected to have wider support for 5G mmWave in more countries as the adoption rate has started to grow. The iPhone 13 series is shaping up to be a highly-anticipated upgrade, however we can only be sure once Apple announces the new models later this year. Source: TheLec View the full article
  2. A brand new iPhone leak suggests that the next iPhone might get a camera upgrade users have been asking for years. According to renowned leaker Ming Chi-Kuo, the 2022 iPhone will likely get a 48MP camera that will be able to capture media in 8K resolution. For Android users, this may not be news as some smartphones already boast cameras with higher megapixels and the ability to capture 8K video. However, for Apple users, this will be the first time we could see an iPhone with a camera that has a higher resolution than 12MP. © theregisti--unsplash In a note, Kuo also states that the iPhone 13 mini will be the last small smartphone by Apple as well: “We predict that the new 2022 iPhone will have 4 models, namely the high-end 6.7-inch and 6.1-inch models, and the lower-end 6.7-inch and 6.1-inch models.” The note also went on to add that iPhones in 2022 will be getting a 48MP camera that will be able to capture 8K video. Kuo said the upgrade will come to two “high-end” models, presumably the “Pro” variants of the series. The story doesn’t end there though since the 2022 iPhone is also expected to get other camera upgrades in the near future. Kuo says that in 2021, Apple is expected to use a periscope telephoto lens as well as an under-screen Face ID feature. © mark-chan-unsplash Kuo has a tremendous record when it comes to Apple-related leaks and has accurately predicted iPhone launches with utmost accuracy in the past few years. Having said that, this information is still based on supply chain leaks and could change at any time. We do advise taking this information with a pinch of salt as Apple is known for throwing a wrench at the last moment. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 13 later this year and it is likely to follow the same model line up as the iPhone 12 Series. There have been rumours that Apple might use a smaller notch but that remains to be seen. If Kuo’s prediction comes to fruition, it could be the biggest upgrade we’ve seen on the iPhone yet. 3. Apple will be paying $3.4 million to settle a lawsuit in Chile that accused the company of throttling some of its products to force consumers to upgrade. Over 1.5 lakh iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus and SE owners sued Apple in Chile which the company has been battling since 2017. Registered participants in Chile can get a maximum of $50 in compensation after the lawsuit was settled. © Unsplash Apple released the iOS 10.2.1 update in 2017 with a feature that throttled the performance of older iPhones. The throttling occurred to prevent device shutdown at peak usage times due to degraded batteries. Apple did not clarify in the update that mitigating these shutdowns would require scaling down the performance of older iPhones. This upset many iPhone users which resulted in a series of lawsuits that are currently still active. © Unsplash Since then, Apple has released updates that introduced measures to improve battery life and are aimed at making iPhones last longer even when battery health is at a decline. Apple also offered a battery replacement program all over the world for iPhones that have degraded batteries. Apple wanted to offer affordable battery upgrades/replacement for users who weren’t necessarily looking to buy a new iPhone anytime soon. This is not the first time Apple is facing lawsuits for throttling the performance of older iPhones. Apple faced similar lawsuits in other countries such as Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium and the United States. Apple settled the lawsuit in the United States and shelled out between $310 and $500 million. It was determined that Apple had concealed this problem that forced users to buy a new iPhone altogether. Apple denied these claims but agreed to settle outside of court. © Unsplash Other companies such as Samsung have taken a dig at Apple previously with an ad that showed an iPhone user recommending her mom to upgrade to a newer model of the iPhone as it started to slow down. 5. The captain of the Indian cricket team in limited overs games, Virat Kohli and actor and wife Anushka Sharma recently became parents when they gave birth to their first baby daughter on January 11, 2021. Merely days after becoming a father, the Indian skipper has made a heartwarming gesture on social media and is being hailed by millions and millions of his followers. Kohli recently updated the bio description of his Twitter handle which now reads ‘a proud husband and father’. © Twitter - Virat Kohli “There are so many similarities in the way we are as people and the way we approach life. So I do think that will work for us. I’ve been thinking about it before I even became a parent. Conditioning is the most important role in how we see the world. I come from a progressive background, so that will always be a part of our home. Love is the underlying factor in our home, and what’s important to us is that our child be respectful of people. You have to create that value structure. We don’t want to raise brats,” Anushka Sharma had told Vogue before becoming a mother. She’d also specified that the couple has no intention of raising their child in the public eye. View this post on Instagram “We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through,” she added. The 32-year-old cricketer returned to India after playing the first of four Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Adelaide Oval which the Men in Blue ended up losing by a large margin. However, under the team management and captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, the roster has somehow managed to tie the series and are playing some wonderful cricket in the final Test at the Gabba. 6. The iPhone 12 display has been rumoured to get upgrades for a while and it seems like this time Apple may finally catch up with its Android counterparts. The iPhone 13 is expected to have upgrades that we will also fund in flagship 2021 smartphones. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Many expected the iPhone 12 series to make the jump to 120Hz displays however that wasn’t the case. The iPhone 13 though is rumoured to be using advanced 120Hz LTPO displays made by Samsung according to a report by The Elec. LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) is a type of transistor that is a part of smartphone displays. However, this transistor enables phones to have a variable refresh rate display and lets displays tick between frames automatically. Samsung already uses LTPO in their displays in the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and will also be used for the upcoming Galaxy S21 Series. Unlike other phones that use higher refresh rates, the iPhone 13 will be able to adapt the refresh rate according to what a user is doing. Higher refresh rate displays are known to drain a lot of battery and in turn reduces the phones’ overall battery backup. To counter this problem, the LTPO enables the phone to adapt the refresh rate on the fly. This means the iPhone 13 will be able to increase the refresh rate when playing games or drop it down when on the home screen. This helps in conserving battery life and we’ve already seen this implementation on the iPad Pro. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Having said that, not all models of the iPhone 13 will be getting the higher refresh rate displays. Much like the iPhone 12 Series, the next iPhone is touted to have four models where the higher refresh rate display will only be used for the ‘Pro’ models. The Elec’s report also states that it won't be until 2022 when all models get LTPO displays. Samsung will be the only supplier of the new displays for now while other companies like LG display will start supplying components not until 2022. This would explain why only two models will be getting a higher refresh rate display. The iPhone 13 won’t launch until September 2021 and Apple has enough time to figure out how to use a higher refresh rate display with iOS until the launch. There’s also a good chance that Apple might bring back the fingerprint sensor by side-mounting it on the power button. Apple has already used this technique on the new iPad Air and because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems logical to have an alternate way to unlock iPhones apart from using FaceID. 7. My biggest problem with every OnePlus phone that has launched until now is probably the camera capabilities of the phones. Irrespective of whether you're using a 'pro' or a normal variant, they aren’t at par with modern smartphones. There have been times where OnePlus phones tend to click images worse than budget phones that cost half its price. However, according to a new rumour, that might all change with the OnePlus 9 Series. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla OnePlus 9 has already been pictured and leaked this past week, but it seems like there’s a new collaboration that might change photography on these phones. The brand is said to be working with Leica for the OnePlus 9 series which could change image quality for the better. © PhoneArena Leica has worked with smartphone OEMs in the past such as Huawei and managed to deliver some of the best camera smartphones in the past. Twitter tipster ‘Rodent950’ took to Twitter and revealed that OnePlus will be working with the German photography company next year. The account is most known for Huawei leaks which could add some weight to his information, thanks to the Chinese company and Leica’s partnership in the past. Rumours suggest there will be two 48MP sensors, a 16MP selfie camera while other sensors are up for speculation at the moment. It could be possible that at least one of the sensors could be made by Leica for the ‘Pro’ models of the upcoming OnePlus 9 series. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The phone is also expected to have a flat 6.55-inch display that is similar to what we’ve already seen on the OnePlus 8T. The display is also expected to have a refresh rate of 120Hz and a resolution of 2400 x 1080p. Much like previous OnePlus phones, the main series is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset and will be paired with up to 12GB of RAM. Do you think OnePlus’ partnership with Leica could improve photography capabilities in future OnePlus phones? Do let us know in the comments what you think about this rumoured partnership. 8. It has only been a few weeks since Apple's new M1-chip powered MacBook Air and MacBook Pro hit the shelves. The new M1 is said to be very powerful and it looks like Apple has a serious winner in its hands. But it looks like the company wants to do more and a successor to M1 is coming as early as next year. According to a new report, the new M2 chipset is said to be manufactured using the same 5nm process and it's expected to power the next set of MacBook Pro 13-inch and 16-inch variants. If this turns out to be true, then it looks like we're in for a treat. © Apple The new M2 processor is expected to deliver better performance than the already powerful M1 chip. We can expect to see some improvements in terms of battery life and performance. We don't know much about this new processor yet, so it's best to steer clear of any kind of speculation and just wait to see Apple delivers. The current M1 chip, in case you don't know, is Apple's first ARM-based chipset. You can buy an M1-powered MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or a Mac Mini right now for a starting price that's as low as Rs 67,990. The M1 chip, with all its bells and whistles, is touted to perform 3.5x times faster than the previous generation processors with up to 5x better graphics performance. View the full article
  9. It hasn’t been long since the iPhone 12 series has released all over the world that we have started to hear about Apple’s plans for its next smartphone. According to a new rumour, as per reported by Digitimes, Apple is looking to partner with South Korean companies namely Samsung on a periscope camera to improve optical zoom capabilities on the iPhone 13. © unsplash The source said that Samsung might be Apple’s key partner at developing a periscope sensor for Apple’s next flagship. Samsung already uses a periscope camera for its flagship smartphones where the Galaxy S20 Ultra is capable of doing 100x zoom. In fact, there are other Android devices like the Vivo X50, OPPO Find X2 Pro, Huawei Mate 40 Pro amongst others that already use some form a periscope sensor. © unsplash If Apple uses a periscope sensor in its next iPhone, Apple is hoping their devices are capable of doing 10x optical zoom. A periscope lens essentially bends the light by 90 degrees. However, it does tend to make the smartphone or the camera module thicker than usual. Having said that, Apple is curly looking to develop a periscope lens that will not increase the thickness of the phone or the camera bump significantly. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Other reports have also suggested that the next iPhone may not use the ’13’ numerical order and instead be an ’S’ lineup. While the next iPhones may not have significant upgrades when considering the iPhone 12. However, a new periscope lens may just bring the iPhone at par with current Android devices that already features a periscope sensor. There have been other rumours surrounding the iPhone 13 as well where reports suggest that at least one model from the series will be a portliness phone. Reports have suggested that one model from the iPhone 13 or 12s series will not come with a charging port and will instead use the MagSafe wireless charger. View the full article

  11. It's that of the year again when we get our annual dose of handsome discounts on Amazon's Great Indian Festival sale. We'll be going through a lot of deals in the future but there's one particular deal we want to highlight for now. Yes, the iPhone 11 deal. The iPhone 11 that came out last year around the same time, was originally retailing for Rs 68,300 until yesterday. It did get a price cut this morning which brought the price down to Rs 54,900. But if you're interested to buy this particular phone, then we suggest you wait till the Amazon Great Indian Festival sale that kicks off on October 16. © Amazon The iPhone 11 will be available for just Rs 47,999, which is the lowest it has ever been in India. It's a kickass deal and this is probably the best time to upgrade to this new phone. The Apple Online Store's deal with free pair of AirPods is also a great deal, but the Amazon offering is just better for people who don't want the AirPods and want to straight-up save some money while upgrading to a great phone. The iPhone 11, in case you're wondering, is a great phone. We absolutely loved using it and we think it still holds its value in front of the new iPhone 12 that was launched yesterday. It's powered by the A13 Bionic chipset which is still more powerful than most Android phones out there. It also comes with a great set of cameras and has impressive features like IP68 rating, wireless charging, and more. © YouTube/Marques Brownlee You can read our full review of the iPhone 11 right here before buying the phone to get a better understanding of what you're getting into. It's a great phone and this deal simply makes it the best time to buy it. View the full article
  12. Unlike Microsoft's Smart Delivery feature that allows developers and publishers to sell a single copy of a game and have it playable across both generations of consoles, Sony didn't announce anything for its platform. That, however, isn't stopping the developers from allowing their PS4 games to be upgraded for free to be played on the PS5. But the biggest news is that Sony has not yet shared a full list of games that can be upgraded to their next-gen versions for free. It's indeed a bummer because it keeps the potential customers in the dark about the games that may or may not be compatible. © Ubisoft But thanks to some reliable info on the internet, we were able to make a list of games. So here's every single PS4 game that's confirmed to get a free PS5 upgrade when the console comes out later this year. Check it out - Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Borderlands 3 Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Cyberpunk 2077 Dead by Daylight Destiny 2 Dirt 5 Doom Eternal Far Cry 6 FIFA 21 Hitman 3 Horizon Forbidden West Immortals Fenyx Rising Kena: Bridge of Spirits Little Nightmares 2 Madden NFL 21 Maneater Marvel’s Avengers Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom NBA 2K21 Puyo-Puyo Tetris 2 Rainbow Six Siege Riders Republic Sackboy: A Big Adventure The Elder Scrolls Online The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Watch Dogs: Legion WRC 9 Yakuza: Like A Dragon © Sony It's worth pointing out that if you're buying a PS5 Digital Edition, then you won't be able to upgrade physical copies of games since it doesn't have a disc drive. We suggest you pick up the digital copies of the games now if you're planning for a digital upgrade. View the full article
  13. The OnePlus 8T launch is right around the corner, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting any leaks before it actually launches. We already know quite a bit about the upcoming smartphone, however one particular feature remained a mystery until now. The OnePlus 8T is the company’s mid-year cycle refresh that usually comes with incremental upgrades. Now that OnePlus has confirmed there will be no 8T Pro model this year, all eyes are on the OnePlus 8T. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla A leak surfaced online via Twitter user and leaker Sudhanshu who tweeted a Geekbench 4 test result. While we review our phones on the newer Geekbench 5 scale, we can still run the older software to determine comparisons. According to the leak, the phone’s model number is expected to be “OnePlus KB2000” and the results look quite impressive. The leak shows the phone has a single-core score of 3,843 and a multi-core score of 11,714 which is in fact a downgrade over the OnePlus 8. We ran a similar test on the OnePlus 8 and the test yielded a 4,235 in the single-core test and achieved a multi-core score of 13,273. In comparison, the leaked results show the phone scored less than the OnePlus 8 in both tests. OnePlus 8T (KB2000) spotted on Geekbench 4 -Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor -12GB RAM -Android 11 OS#OnePlus8T #OnePlus8T5G pic.twitter.com/38NI1iiY0L — Sudhanshu (@Sudhanshu1414) September 29, 2020 The reason why the tests yielded results lower than the OnePlus 8 could be because the phone will not be using the Snapdragon 865 plus chipset. Last year, the 7T/7T Pro did use the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, however it seems like due to the pandemic OnePlus is looking to cut costs this year and just offer a slight design change instead of any significant upgrade when it comes to the specifications. OnePlus has already confirmed other features that will be there on the OnePlus 8T such as a 120Hz refresh-rate display alongside 65W fast-charging that will use a dual-battery system. Having said that, the OnPlus 8T won’t be offering wireless charging as it will remain exclusive to the OnePlus 8 Pro. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla While the leak may show something, we do recommend taking this piece of information with a pinch of salt. The Geekbench 4 listing could be of a model with a lower RAM configuration or could be false altogether. We’ve also seen new OnePlus phones lacking optimisation at launch and this test may just be a test to see the performance levels on the upcoming phone. Having said that, the phone will launch on October 17th and it shouldn’t be long before we know how the phone actually performs in real-life testing. Source: Sudhanshu View the full article
  14. OnePlus launched the OnePlus 8 in India after a few delays caused by the lockdown and a very serious problem at the factory. However, we got our hands on the phone last week and took our time testing the phone in various scenarios. Even though the phone seems like an upgrade, it is more of the same from last year's OnePlus 7T series. There are only minor changes in terms of design and is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. Having said that, the phone does offer the best Android experience on any phone right now mostly because of OxygenOS. The OnePlus 8 may not seem like a big change to people who bought last year's OnePlus phones, it does, however, pack a punch under the hood. Here's what we think about OnePlus' affordable flagship smartphone: Design and Display © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla When looking at the OnePlus 8; you will notice that it doesn't look much different than its Pro counterpart or even the OnePlus 7T Pro from the back. While the phone has been positioned as the more affordable model, the design itself is premium enough to classify it as a flagship phone on its right. It has an all-glass design at the back with a triple camera module, the logo and the new hideous logo. The old logo was just fine and looked great on OnePlus phones. It complimented the design language whereas the new logo simply looks out of place. It looks like someone left the caps lock button on and just typed the brand's name. It is quite jarring and doesn't fit the overall minimal design of the phone. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla At the front, you have a 6.55-inch full HD AMOLED display which is more than enough for viewing content on your phone. The first thing you will notice is a punch-hole camera on the top-left corner of the phone which we've seen earlier on Samsung Galaxy S devices. While the punch-hole camera doesn't interfere with the visual experience, we still preferred the pop-up design on the OnePlus 7T Pro. Although, without the pop-up camera module, the phone is significantly lighter and easier to hold. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The display is also a bit different from previous OnePlus phones as it now has a curved design that wraps around the edges of the display. The curved display makes it easier to grip the phone as compared to flatter devices. Having said that, it does come with its disadvantages as well as the curved display also causes accidental touches. The OnePlus 8 also has a 90Hz panel meaning it runs smoother and faster than most phones. This is partly because OxygenOS has been fine-tuned for the higher refresh rate and in comparison, the scrolling speed was faster and smoother than the Galaxy S20's 120Hz panel. You don't even have to reduce the resolution to enjoy this feature which is still a caveat on the Galaxy S20 series. Having said that, the faster refresh rate does affect your battery life as smoother scrolling and increase the tick rate of the display requires more power from the CPU. Finally, the display is good enough for most users but certainly does not beat Samsung's display quality. There is a slight blue cast when watching movies with darker scenes. Blacks are not as well represented which can be annoying if you are particular about your viewing experience. Cameras © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The one department OnePlus has always been lacking is the camera department and the case remains the same for the OnePlus 8. The smartphone has a 48-megapixel main shooter with its f/175 aperture, a 16MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro lens. You will only end up using two camera sensors as macro-lens are not that important. As far as the picture quality is concerned, the main camera sensor has a lot of blurs which will not be noticeable to you on the phone's screen. Most images from the wide camera are fairly dull and tend to ignore bright colours. Once you view your pictures on a larger screen, you will notice the blur and the saturation levels which don't meet up to smartphone camera standards in 2020. Even the colours tend to be off at times as there was more saturation than we expected. As for the ultra-wide shots; let's just say you won't have a good time taking images with the phone for the time being. Having said that, the phone has improved in low light images and even the night mode works better than last year. If you like to take selfies, the OnePlus 8 is not the phone for you as we could not get the phone to take one decent picture without any blur. It looked like the image was captured by a phone from a decade ago. The overall camera experience isn't that great and can expect to be improved once fixes are rolled out via an update. Performance and Battery Life © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla OnePlus is known for delivering performance on their smartphones with utmost priority and the OnePlus 8 lives up to that ethos. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 chipset and is more efficient than any chipset made by Qualcomm ever. Our review unit came with 12GB of Ram and 256GB internal storage. The 12GB RAM certainly played a crucial role in delivering a smooth and stable experience. It ran games and did everything at the highest setting possible with no frame rate drops whatsoever. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla In our Geekbench 5 test, the OnePlus 8 scored 911 in the Single-Core test and 3239 in the multi-core test. That is faster than the iPhone 11 in the multi-core test and outperforms the newly launched Xiaomi Mi 10 as well. OnePlus 8 is the only phone out there that can match up to the iPhone 11's performance and at times be faster. Similarly, the OnePlus 8 also fared well in the GPU test where it scored 1324 in the GFX Bench Aztec Ruins Vulkan test. The OnePlus 8 performed fairly well for its 4,300 mAh battery where the phone lasted for around 11 hours in our extreme stress test. For moderate users, you can expect the phone to last significantly more. However, the battery life does drop by two hours if you turn up the refresh rate to 90Hz. The phone does support 30W wired charging and can charge the phone to 70% from 0 in about 34 minutes. In short, the OnePlus 8 fast charging method is second to none and is amongst the fastest charging phones today. The Final Say When considering a flagship phone to buy this year, one can't ignore the OnePlus 8. The phone offers an extremely fast and reliable performance that can't be matched by any Android phone apart from its bigger brother right now. Having said that, the OnePlus 8 does need some major improvements in the camera department to make it a complete flagship smartphone. 15. The iPhone 12 Pro is turning out to be a great smartphone, if we go by the latest leaks, as the company is planning to overhaul the design of the smartphone. The notch design of the upcoming iPhone was leaked on Twitter and it shows that the notch is finally getting smaller, thanks to Apple moving some components around. © Apple Insider Jon Prosser, the Apple insider who leaked accurate information of iPhone SE 2020âs launch has now taken to Twitter to reveal more details about the iPhone 12 Pro or whatever Apple decides to call it. The notch has now been moved to the top bezel of the phone and not at the centre of the notch, giving Apple the freedom to shrink down the size. Here you go, internet. pic.twitter.com/REfSw28KSX â Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) April 20, 2020 In fact, Prosser tweeted an image with detailed hardware changes in the notch and also clarified that the microphone is embedded in the speaker itself. While many iPhone fans have wanted a notch-free design, it seems like Apple is going to stick with the design for now. Apple apparently does not want to drop FaceID on flagship iPhones and the TrueDepth 3D sensor that is essential for facial recognition security. © Twitter/Jon Prosser A smaller notch is still an upgrade where the display gets more real-estate but the biggest upgrade also comes in the form of the display quality. The iPhone 12 Pro is rumoured to feature a 120Hz refresh rate display which has been used on the iPad Pro, previously. Even the design of the phone is expected to change as it is rumoured to have flatter sides and a thinner body. There have been rumours that the iPhone 12 will have a similar design as the classic iPhone 4. © Twitter/pro-technizio-concept In terms of the camera setup, the iPhone 12 Pro is expected to have a LiDAR depth sensor similar to the new iPad Pro and a new 5G modem for better connectivity. The smartphone will also be powered by Appleâs most powerful chipset yet i.e, the A14 Bionic SoC. Thereâs no word when the new iPhones are expected to launch but there is a good chance the launch of the phones will be delayed to October this year. Apple usually launches new iPhones every September, however, with the COVID-19 situation, we can expect the launch to be delayed as it is extended testing periods for the upcoming phone. 16. New rumours surrounding the OnePlus 8 are already hitting the internet and a new leak suggests that the display for the pro variant is going to get a major upgrade. Currently, the OnePlus 7T series and the OnePlus 7 Pro both come with a 90Hz refresh rate display and the company has already confirmed future OnePlus phones will have at least a 90Hz display. However, the new rumour suggests that the OnePlus 8 Pro will come with a 120Hz display. © OneLeaks This is not the first time we're seeing a smartphone that comes with a 120Hz display as it is already present on a number of gaming smartphones. The ASUS ROG II phone is the latest device that comes with a 120Hz display that helps out users in gaming. Having said that, if this rumour (via PhoneArena) is true, the OnePlus 8 Pro will be the first non-gaming smartphone that will come with a 120Hz display. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The rumours come from tipster Max J who revealed via Twitter that the pro variant will come with the 120Hz display while the OnePlus 8 will launch with a 90Hz display. This rumour seems quite believable especially since most smartphones are expected to come with a 90Hz display nowadays. Be a "pro". pic.twitter.com/h4UwnOXn8H — Max J. (@Samsung_News_) November 7, 2019 OnePlus 8 rumours have been floating for a while and one of them suggests that OnePlus is going to ditch the pop-up selfie camera system and instead opt for a hole-punch camera on the screen. These are based on CAD-bases renders that were shared by renowned tipster @OnLeaks. The OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to come with a triple camera setup, a 3D ToF sensor and a 6.65-inch display. 17. It's not the first time we're hearing a smartphone will come with a 108MP camera as Samsung announced its new ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor that was developed in partnership with Xiaomi earlier this year. We've already seen the sensor being used on the Mi Note 10 or better known as Mi CC9 Pro. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla According to renowned Samsung tipster 'Ice Universe', the next Samsung flagship smartphone will have a 108MP sensor but will be different from what Xiaomi is using. There's a good chance that Samsung may use the 2nd generation version of the sensor for the Galaxy S11. The sensor itself is 1/1.33-inch in size and is larger than any sensor available for smartphones. It uses a 4-in-1 pixel binning method which we've seen before on smartphones with high megapixel sensors. The ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor is capable of taking low-light images in 27MP resolution. The Galaxy S11 has a high probability of using a new 108MP sensor. — Ice universe (@UniverseIce) November 4, 2019 Currently, all Samsung flagship smartphones use a 12-megapixel sensor as its primary camera and it will be a major upgrade for Samsung flagship smartphones. According to rumours, apart from a 108-MP sensor, the Galaxy S11 is expected to have a 5x optical zoom sensor. The Galaxy S10 and Note 10 both are only capable of 2x optical zoom. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Samsung usually launches the Galaxy series sometime in February every year and we expect the new iteration to launch in 2020. The smartphone is rumoured to be powered by two chipsets i.e. Qualcomm's next-gen Snapdragon 865 chipset for select market and Samsung's own Exynos 9830 chipset for India and most other regions. 22. Apple announced a bunch of new features that will be coming to iOS 13. However, not many were detailed at WWDC 2019. The next major update for iOS is expected to roll out when the new iPhone is announced and a public beta will roll out sometime in July. There will be many new features and performance upgrades that you should be taking advantage of. Here are some of the reasons why you should upgrade to iOS 13 when it is made available. It Will Make The iPhone Faster Apple Every year Apple wants to bring updates that are beneficial to iOS devices and the majority of it has to do with making iPhones faster. It was the first thing Apple mentioned at WWDC's presentation and the company is expected to make huge leaps. Apple claims that iOS 13 will make the Face ID unlock speed faster than ever before; in fact, it will be 30 percent faster. The company also mentioned that App launch speeds will also be boosted considerably. When it comes to App downloads, iOS 13 will reduce the size of the apps by half and updates will also be smaller by 60 percent. Streaming Music To Two AirPods Apple Ever wanted to share music with your friends but you couldn't since the iPhone no longer supports a headphone jack? With iOS 13 you will now be able to send music to two separate AirPods at the same time. This will enable users to enjoy music or a movie together without having the need of sharing AirPods. Bluetooth has traditionally only allowed a single connection to earphones or an audio device. However, this new feature will change the way we share music with friends. Privacy Above All Else Apple Apple has always been upholding Privacy as one of the most important features of any of their products. The company has consistently attacked Google, Facebook and other businesses that target users and track their activity. Apple has now introduced a “Sign In With Apple” feature that basically blocks apps from tracking sensitive information. It gives users the power to allow apps to access location data, information and other personal data. Apple has also taken necessary steps to inform users which apps are tracking them in the background without their permission or knowledge. “Sign In With Apple” will also substitute your email address with a random email forwarding address so that you are not bothered with marketing emails and spam. This will let users not reveal their true email addresses and can disable the random email address from receiving communication whenever they want to. Find Apple Devices Even When Offline We often forget our iPhone, MacBook, iPads and AirPods in cafes or other public spots on busy days. Earlier, we could use the Find My iPhone app to locate our devices; however, it had to be connected to a network. With iOS 13, the Find My app will now be able to locate a lost or stolen device even when it is not connected to an internet connection. Apple Basically, an Apple device that is lost will basically ping other nearby Apple devices to detect its location. The information will be relayed back to Apple's servers securely and then will be transmitted to your Find My app. It will basically use Bluetooth to communicate with other Apple devices and all the information from your lost device will remain private and secure. Better Battery Life Macrumours iOS 13 will also come with a new feature that will extend your iPhone's battery life and health. It's called the "Optimized Battery Charging" feature that will basically learn from your usage habits for more effective and balanced charging. For example, if you charge your smartphone at night while sleeping, this feature will charge your iPhone to 80% and then wait an hour or so before you wake up to charge it up to 100%. This basically keeps your iPhone charged at optimum capacity and then charge the remaining capacity when you actually need it. Dark Mode FTW Apple Apple finally heard the fans and is bringing a Dark Mode feature as a part of the iOS 13 update. Dark Mode has a few advantages such as putting less strain on your eyes, look pretty and also help in conserving battery life. However, the Dark Mode will be most effective on devices that use OLED displays i.e the iPhone XS, XS Max and X. OLED displays are the best for displaying deep black colours as there isn't much grey light leakage. Dark Mode will be applicable to everything from the lock screen, notifications and the overall UI. Users will be able to fire up the mode from the Control Center and even set it up according to the local sunrise and sunset schedule. Dark Mode will automatically activate when it is evening and revert to the brighter interface during the day.
