  1. Apple has some useful apps on the iPhone and one of them was responsible for saving a young girl's life. 17-year-old Macy Smith was coming home late and her mother could not get through to her. The mother suspected that something was wrong and was able to track down her daughter using the 'Find My Friends' app. Ms Smith was trapped in a wrecked car at the bottom of an embankment and it would have been impossible to trace her if it weren't for Apple's app and the mother's quick thinking. © Apple The teenager later wrote on a Facebook post: “I hydroplaned at 4:00 pm and ran in between 2 trees down an embankment, flipped my car 3 times, and landed in my back seat with my arm pinned in between the car and the ground.” She could not reach for her iPhone and respond to her mother's calls. The mother then traced her daughter's location using the app and the family drove to the location of the accident. They found her trapped in the vehicle and were able to recover her. © Apple “The whole time I knew they were going to show up and I'm so thankful for my family and we're such a tight family that I knew that I wasn't going to be there the whole night without them looking for me,” Ms Smith told a local TV station. Find My Friends app is a very useful application that lets users share their location with friends and family. The feature needs to be activated manually however this incident just proved that it is a very useful feature that can end up saving your life. You can add the feature by adding your family members' iCloud accounts and share the location data when necessary. Ms Smith is now urging other teenagers to enable this feature on their iPhones. 2. Here's something that may drastically steal focus from the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. While currently in England for the World Cup, Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, is in a wee bit of a soup back home, with the Gurugram Municipal Corporation! Obviously, while the team is working hard to bring home the cup, we hear Kohli isn't doing his bit to play the perfect citizen, who can set examples with some great civic sense, along with showcasing great skills on the field, of course. So, here's what Kohli is in trouble for. The GMC (Gurugram Municipal Corporation) has issued a challan against Kohli for wasting drinking water, while washing his car, outside his house, which is located in DLF Phase 1 of Gurugram. © Pintrest The fine was imposed when Kohli's domestic help was seen washing his car(s) with drinking water and he was fined INR 500 for doing so. According to a news report, it was Kohli's neighbours who actually lodged a complaint against thousands of litres of water going to waste, as Kohli's domestic help would wash half a dozen cars, including two SUVs, with plain drinking water. While the temperatures continue to across all of Northern India, there is an ongoing water crisis in most parts, as water bodies are drying up due to the temperature being close to 45-degrees Celsius. And obviously, Gurugram isn't free of the water crisis, just like most parts around Delhi and NCR. Along with Kohli's residence, ten other houses were fined for wasting water while washing their cars. The Gurugram Corporation Commissioner has now warned people for wasting drinking water further and has said stricter action will be taken if the regulations are violated by any more people around the neighbourhood. © Pintrest As for the ICC World Cup, seems like team India got to a good start by defeating South Africa in its opener. Rohit Sharma bagged a century to set his targets right for the remainder of the campaign. After successfully beating the Proteas, the Indian Cricket team has a solid task ahead of them, with their upcoming match with Australia on Sunday. Here's wishing the team boatloads of luck and Virat some common civic sense!
  3. You probably know by now, from the nonstop conversations around you, that you're supposed to prep your skin before going out in the sun. UV rays can be really tough on our skin, but you probably didn't know that your skin needs protection indoors as well. Evolving research finds that the new keyword for the grooming regime is blue light, which is the harmful radiation emitted from all of our digital screens like phones, cameras, tablets, computers, and more. There are negative effects of the blue light on our sleep and skin too. We check our phones on an average of 150 times a day and clock up more than 10 hours of screen time daily. This means we are getting significantly more blue light exposure than we get from the sun alone. © Getty Images Skin damage caused by HEV light may be as harmful as the damage caused by UVA and UVB light combined. It does not generate the redness and inflammation triggered by UVB and UVA, but like UVA, blue light may be another silent, long-term ageing wavelength. Blue light has the highest energy wavelength, which can penetrate deep into the skin and damage even the innermost skin layer. © Getty Images How Does Blue Light (HEV) Damage The Skin? The Blue HEV light has exposed the harsh reality that we are all exposed to some form of HEV light every day and our skin is under attack, even when we are indoors. Computer monitors, flat screen televisions, mobile phones with flat screens, energy efficient cool white daylight or full spectrum lights, reflective surfaces like snow, concrete, sand, water, and glass or even sitting near car windows, provide constant exposure to the damaging effects of HEV light. Research indicates that the blue light triggers cell oxidation and damages proteins in the human skin. What's worse is that long-term exposure to concentrated blue light energy can cause skin damage, including colour changes (think; dark spots and hyperpigmentation), inflammation (redness), developing fine lines and wrinkles. Considering the humongous amount of time, your skin is exposed to the screen, you can imagine how fast your skin is ageing. © Getty Images How To Punch Back The Blue Light (HEV) Damage? The good news is that there are measures you can take to protect your skin and lessen the damage that HEV- blue light can inflict. © Getty Images · Use a full tablespoon of organic sunscreen with protection from UVA and UVB rays on your face and reapply at least every two to three hours even when you are indoors. · Load up on antioxidants; whether in your skin care routine or diet. They help fight free radical damage to your body cells. · Dim the light on your phone and computer screen to lessen the impact of the blue light, or apply a blue light filter, but this is not guaranteed to prevent damage. So, pack your sunscreen into your work bag! The new rules of sunscreen will guard your skin against the blue light. Remember to protect your skin every day- yes, it's the new swag, to use sunscreen indoors. Author Bio: The author of this article, Mr Rahul Aggarwal is the CEO of Organic Harvest.
  4. Just when we were trying to figure out why have all these tech companies become so incompetent at keeping user data safe, Snapchat has found itself in the centre of the controversy. Turns out, both former and current employees of Snapchat have revealed that the company had dedicated tools to access the user data. By user data, we mean location information, saved Snaps, and even phone numbers. © Reuters According to a Vice's new report , two former employees, a current employee, and some internal company emails have revealed that Snapchat, at one point, created a dedicated tool called SnapLion to spy on users and collect their private information. This tool is said to have been created by Snapchat's employees themselves. The report, which didn't reveal exactly when Snapchat used this tool, says the tool was apparently introduced to combat bullying or harassment on the platform. The report also noted that SnapLion was used to gather information on users in “response to valid law enforcement requests such as a court order or subpoena.” Departments in the company such as “customer ops” and security staff had access to SnapLion. What did they do with the info? God knows. © Reuters Although this isn't the first time we're reading news about our privacy breach, the fact that Snapchat has been a part of the fiasco is very surprising, to say the least. There's still a lot that we don't know about the said breach, so let's just wait for more info.
  5. It took approximately 4-5 hours for Deepika Padukone to get ready for the MET Gala or Ranveer Singh to decide his new, eccentric #OOTD. But, a nine-year old girl is recreating the same within just 45 minutes, and you know what her looks are made of? Waffles, garbage bags, broccoli, foil paper, etc. Basically, household items. Riley Dashwood is an Australian kid who does entertaining transformations and shares her views, her interpretations on Instagram of outfits worn by famous celebs, be it Bollywood or Hollywood. All her looks are planned in advance over the weekend with her parents. You will be mind-blown ahead! 1. Riley And Ranveer Singh, Who Wore It Better? © Instagram/Riley Dashwood Ranveer Singh has nailed the contemporary look in a black Bandhgala made with leaf motifs. Riley went ahead with a black tee and stuck golden leaves on it. She recreated Ranveer's beard on herself with a sketch pen. Is this even real? 2. Inspired By Lil Pump © Instagram/Riley Dashwood See those tattoos and that metallic chain on her, now who's the exact Lil Pump here? We are still guessing! 3. All The Veggie Lovers © Instagram/Riley Dashwood Riley didn't even leave the veggies in her refrigerator. Rather took them out and remade Nicki Minaj's green and white wig look. She used cauliflower, lettuce and broccoli for her hairstyle. 4. Take A Bow © Instagram/Riley Dashwood A garbage bag has never looked so chic on anyone, ever before. Look at Riley trying to work out Rihanna's oversized black jacket look. 5. 6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been getting a lot of slack on social media for making some wild claims one after the other. After the 'Cloud theory' that went viral across social media platforms yesterday, our PM is back under the radar for saying he was one of the first people in the country to use a digital camera and some other tech gadgets. Yes, a clip from his recent interview with News Nation has now gone viral. In that video, PM Modi is seen claiming that he was among the first people in India to use a digital camera in 1988. He said he used the camera to click a photograph of LK Advani. Adding on to that, PM Modi also claimed that he was one of the early adopters of e-mail, back in 1988, and used an iPad-like tablet with a stylus in the early 90s. Well, you don't have to be a genius to find out that neither the digital camera nor e-mail services existed in the timelines he mentioned. So, people were obviously not going to keep quiet. A lot of people decided to call our PM out on social media. Economist Rupa Subramanya, for instance, pointed out that e-mail was available only to a select few in West in 1988. Well, can't really argue with that. In 1988, even in the developed west, email was available to a few academics and scientists but Modi somehow used it in 1988 in India before it was officially introduced to the rest of us in 1995. ð³ https://t.co/cq3nhRLEQJ — Rupa Subramanya (@rupasubramanya) May 12, 2019 A lot of others decided to pitch in too. @PMOIndia ke paas batwa nahi tha (kyunki paise nahi the!) lekin 1988 mein digital camera aur email tha? All of this would be really funny if it weren't so embarrassing. A PM who'll literally say ANYTHING that comes to his mind can't possibly be trusted with our national security https://t.co/pmoGNQQtHi — Asaduddin Owaisi (@asadowaisi) May 12, 2019 Ahem... iPad in 1990, a digital camera in 1987. Does Modi live in the same dimension as us? — Akshay Bhalla (@Bhallanator) May 13, 2019 I went to the US in 1993. AOL was the dominant player. It started as an internet service provider in early 90s. We used to go to university to use email (DOS based). 1988? This is so embarrassing for India. #Feku https://t.co/KQfdYGGmmG — Salman Anees Soz (@SalmanSoz) May 12, 2019 Internet in India in 1995 and digital camera in 1990 but Modi hai to 1988 mein bhi email pe digital photo transfer mumkin hai. https://t.co/C1BV00VLzp — Panini Anand (@paninianand) May 12, 2019 “The first commercial production digital camera went on sale in 1990.” The first commercial production digital camera went on sale in 1990. 7. Are steroids always bad? I do not think so. After all, 'Steroid' is a medical term. There could be many reasons when steroid usage is justified. For example, when prescribed by a doctor for certain conditions like TRT, HIV, burns etc. Another being their usage by pro-bodybuilders and athletes who are competing nationally or internationally and their livelihood depends on their physique. © Getty Images However, there are a few reasons for which the usage of steroids is completely not required. If you are using or planning to use steroids for any of these reasons, it is literally very stupid indeed: 1. To Become A Trainer: Being a trainer myself, who has been lifting naturally since 2010, I`ve met tens of trainers at different gyms. Initially, I used to get shocked learning about their steroid usage without even having a training base. Most of the time they are caught in this delusion that they need to look like a bodybuilder to be a trainer, which is not true at all. This makes them take anabolic steroids to get quick results. The same results which they could`ve gotten easily by training for a few more months with apt diet and training and that too without the side-effect of steroids. To become a trainer you need to have few years of lifting experience under your belt and some education. Having a decent healthy-looking physique is a plus point to motivate your clients but going for anabolics, thinking you need to look like a bodybuilder/physique model is completely uncalled for. Remember, your knowledge helps your clients get results, not your monstrously big physique. 2. To Impress The Opposite ***: In today`s world of social media and tinder where shirtless pics get more likes, the sole aim of some youngsters for going to the gym is to get shredded/abs, post pics on social and get laid. This involves the usage of steroids and other drugs like clen and what not. The more desperate the guy is, the quicker he will get into shortcuts. © Getty Images Every second guy who is a gym-goer and is on Instagram has abs, but do they have girlfriends? Ask them and you will know. You may impress some juvenile teenage girls with your shredded physique but getting into a real relationship requires way more than just physique. It's you as a complete person that impresses the opposite ***, not your 3 hours everyday gym session. 3. On Trainers' Recommendations: If your trainer tries to brainwash you by saying “Every guy with a good physique is probably on steroids and you should take as well if you want those results”. He's either bullshitting you or probably has no idea himself. There are people with great physiques mostly due to two reasons- Great genes or years of training experience or a combination of both of these. These people with years of training experience will look better any day than your average guy/trainer who took steroids after just 6 months of training. Pro coaches make their pro-athletes use steroids for competition prep, that`s another story. But as an average gym-going guy who just wants to look good in clothes or naked, steroids are a big no due to their side-effects. 4. To Compete In Local Bodybuilding Competition: I don`t want to sound like I'm discouraging you to participate in local competitions but participating in such shows by using/abusing steroids is not worth it at all. © Getty Images Youngsters, usually with not much experience, try to compete in such shows and in order to win or secure good positions, go for steroids hoping to get massive or get a next-level shredded physique. Let me tell you, even after taking steroids they don`t get the desired results because steroids are not magic. They don`t have much training experience under their belt and have no idea about dieting and want steroids to do all the magic for them. Steroid usage could be justified in case you were preparing for a national or pro event after few years of dedicated training. But shutting your natural testosterone production for an event which gives you a tub of protein powder or gainer isn`t very smart. That`s all folks! Hope this helped. Share it if you can with a friend who goes to the gym and is in dire need of your help.
  8. Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series, as we all know, is one of the very few games that uses real places as the settings for its stories. Say what you will about the games and their story lines, but there's no denying that the developers go all in when it comes to recreations of the real world locations. The 'Assassin's Creed: Unity', on the same lines, features a replica of Notre Dame cathedral, that's currently under the spotlight due to the deadly fire accident. Guess what? The 3D replica of Notre Dame shown featured in the game is so incredibly detailed that it could potentially help the architects rebuild the cathedral to its original glory. © Ubisoft Notre Dame was one of the most important landmarks in the game. As a protagonist, you could literally climb and parkour all over it. Heck, the game also lets you go inside the cathedral and explore it as much as you want. If you've played the game, then you know for a fact that Ubisoft did an amazing job. It is, however, worth pointing out the 3D replica of Notre Dame shown in the game is not entirely accurate. The spires in real-life, for instance, were added after the events of the game. Even a majority of the artwork hanging from the walls of the church are protected by copyright, which means the ones shown in the game are slightly different. Nonetheless, the ability to get up-close and explore a detailed version of both inside and outside of the cathedral could prove very useful to architects during the restoration work.
  9. Drones, the gadget denied to Indian enthusiasts by the DGCA, unless you are a wedding planner or photographer, is a heated topic in the country. While we may be debating the commercial use of drones in India, people in Australia can now get coffee and food delivered to them by our flying friends. © Pexels The company that is making the service a possibility is called “Wing” owned by Google's parent company Alphabet. The company has now begun delivering items to customers just outside Canberra, Australia's capital. The company has already tested the service 3,00 times in the past 18 months and is now ready to roll the service out for “eligible homes.” The service will be available in the outskirts of Canberra, namely in suburbs of Franklin, Palmerston and Crace. The company is already adding new customers and is expected to grow that number in the coming weeks and months. The company will start delivering over the counter items such as coffee, wraps, burritos and other smaller products. © Wing The key to the company's success is partnering with local businesses and merchants who want to get their products delivered to customers. The service is currently not at scale due to the nature of the project, however, it's a great step towards reducing emissions from traditional delivery methods. © Pexels Of course, we won't get to see something like this in India as we need special permission from DGCA to just own a drone or fly them in a specific area. In fact, if you want to know the precise rules of flying a drone in India, you can read our guide here. Until then, enjoy them drones at a nearby Delhi wedding where it showers you with rose petals!
  10. Powerbeats Pros is now official and was announced recently by Apple and will be the company's other true wireless earbuds. The new earbuds are said to have a better fit and sound quality when compared to the AirPods. The earbuds will be available this May; however, the new earbuds have already been spotted in the wild. © Twitter/Complex Lebron James was spotted sporting the new Powerbeats Pro at an event in Los Angeles. The picture was taken by Adam Pantozzi, a photographer based in Los Angeles. Apple has been known for giving out some of their products to athletes for better visibility. The Cupertino giant followed a similar strategy during the FIFA World Cup as many athletes were pictured sporting AirPods and Beats headphones. What's cool is that the company won the brand wars during the world cup without ever shelling out a single penny. You can read all about how Apple won the brand wars during the World Cup here. We can already see Apple following a similar strategy with the Powerbeats Pro as the wireless earbuds are targeted towards athletes and fitness enthusiasts. If you want to know more about Powerbeats Pro you can read all about it here. © Apple The Powerbeats Pro is expected to last longer than before and comes with Apple's new H1 chip that can also be found on the new AirPods. The H1 Chip enables the new AirPods to fire up Siri by simply saying the command “Hey Siri”. The better fitting design is also supposed to reduce sound leakage which has been a known issue with AirPods. The Powebeats Pro is expected to last for up to nine hours or up to 24 hours of playback time with the charging case. The charging case also has a fast-charging feature that can give the earbuds an additional 1.5 hours of usage after five minutes of charge.
  11. There are three types of 'gym bros': 1. Who never work on their legs 2. Who workout their legs but have questionable form. 3. Who just squat and call those who use the smith machine 'idiots'. First things first, the legs are very important if your goal is strength and looking good. Legs essentially carry your body weight and are very functional. It is as important to work on them as your biceps. Now, many bros think the smith machine is a waste of time because it removes the need for muscles that stabilize the body. Well, that's not true. The Smith machine can easily cover your entire lower body i.e. quads, hamstrings, glutes and calves. If you do not work on your legs and do not enjoy free weight exercises, do this workout pattern for a minimum of 12 weeks. It will increase your lower body strength if you be consistent. 1) Smith Machine Close Stance Squats You often don't perform a full range of motion when doing the traditional back squats, so this a great tool for you to do deep squats with proper complete reps. Set your feet inwards to your shoulder level and squat. 2) Smith Machine Romanian Deadlift Simply do this exercise, hip hinge and stretch your hamstrings. One of the ideal movements to grow your hamstring strength. Start with a light to moderate weight. 3) Smith Machine Hip Thrusts A strong butt can help you to squat more weights and can you give you an aesthetic look if your goal is to improve your body composition. In scientific studies, the hip thrusts have been shown the ideal exercise to grow your glute strength and force, when compared squats. Here is a tip: Don't arch your back when thrusting, keep your back neutral and don't hyperextend. 4) Smith Machine Standing Calf Raise The smith machine can be a helpful tool for your calves as it is easy to apply progressive overload here which over time can grow your calves. Here is a sample workout plan: Smith Machine Squats - 3 sets of 6-8 reps Smith Machine Romanian Deadlifts - 3 sets of 8-12 reps Smith Machine Hip Thrusts- 3 sets of 8-12 reps Smith Machine Calf Raises- 3 sets of 12-15+ reps I am pretty sure you will enjoy this workout and do it every time you have a lower body session. 12. It's true that actions speak louder than words, but for most women, the words still matter all the same. While there might be hundreds of ways how you can sneak into her heart and make a home out of it, there isn't quite anything like a sweet things you can say to her, every once in a while. 13. If it's dumb and it works, it's not dumb anymore. Yes, this is basically how we can define 'jugaad', a concept that each and every desi person is familiar with and something we all follow religiously. One person, though, decided to take his jugaad skills to an even higher level by using what seems like a shaving mirror instead of a regular rear-view mirror. Yep, never knew you can just use that if you're too broke. 'Objects in the mirror might be a little shaky, but hey, at least you can see them.' The picture was posted on Reddit and honestly caused people to have a discussion about something no one has ever had - rear-view mirrors. Some people thought it was genius, some thought it was stupid, and some just made a lot of jokes about it. Well, at least this person knew the importance of rear-view mirrors and is not one of these annoying people on the road who keep their mirrors shut and cut you off on the road all the time. Just a little shaky, tho. Exactly! I'm surprised too, tbh. It'll just fall and come under someone's tyre.
  14. “I am not supposed to tell you this” - It's the most important quote of the week and everyone in the country has heard it at least once, all thanks to Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. The entire nation has been celebrating the return of the IAF pilot and #WelcomeHomeAbhinandan has been trending since his release was announced by Pakistan. But, before that, it was this line that got people to respect him even more. When the Pakistani Army asked him about the details of his mission, he only had one answer - “I am sorry, I am not supposed to tell you this”. It exploded on social media and became a talking point everywhere. The brave and stoic manner in which he deflected all the questions thrown at him, while in captivity, struck a chord with everyone in the nation. But, that one line wields so much power now, that even Indian police departments are using it to give out important messages. Well, the Mumbai Police better watch out because Nagpur Police is here to take their crown. When someone asks for your OTP : "I am not supposed to tell you this"#WelcomeHomeAbhinandan #NagpurPolice — NagpurCityPolice (@NagpurPolice) March 1, 2019 Like always, it got a lot of praise online and everyone appreciated it a lot. 15. When it comes to shaving, good technique is a product of experience (as is the case with most things in life). 16. We're sure that so far you've got your grooming basics right and you're most probably washing your face at least once a day and using a moisturizer (if you're not, you should definitely read this). But apart from that, there is one essential grooming product that men fail to add to their grooming kit that can change their skins for good. A BB Cream. © Getty Images South Korean beauty and grooming secrets are a treasure and should be adapted because have you seen these guys age? They never do. A BB Cream, a South Korean discovery is that one product you should definitely have in your grooming kit. BB creams also known as blemish balms aim to blur out imperfections whilst also taking care of pigmentation, oil control and hydrating skin simultaneously. It also gives the benefit of sun protection, oil control and an anti-ageing in one cream. © Getty Images It's also an easy remedy to cover scars, blemishes and skin discolouration like an Instagram filter, except this work in IRL being a product squished inside a tube. © Getty Images They might look like it's a feminine product, but they also come in unisex packaging. Use a BB cream next time before a big date to hide the bugging pimples, scars and blemishes. It really makes a difference.
  17. In a bizarre incident in Mumbai, a bus driver did something no one would have ever imagined doing. The driver of a school bus allegedly hit a BMW car while driving but that's not all. When the BMW driver got out of his car to reprimand the driver for the accident, he found out the driver was using a piece of bamboo as a gear stick, instead of having a normal gear stick in place. While on his way to school, the bus was probably doing a decent speed, a little more than he should have perhaps and he rammed in to the BMW. During the confrontation, the driver revealed that the steering wheel was giving him some problems for him to manoeuvre the bus with ease. Turns out, it wasn't the steering wheel but the bamboo stick he was using as the gear. We don't even know how that is possible, to begin with! © Twitter While confronting the driver, the BMW owner called the police to have the matter checked. When the police got to where the incident took place, they asked the driver about his callous bamboo make-shift gear, to which the driver replied he was using it as the gear knob had broken a few days ago and he found the piece of bamboo to replace it. Watch the video here: The reason why the driver, Raj Kumar, was using the bamboo stick was because he couldn't find time to repair the damaged gear and replace it with a real one. He's been booked under Indian penal code, section 279 for rash driving and 336 for the act of endangering a person's life. We're just wondering if there are any acts on using wooden or bamboo make-shift, fake gear sticks at all! The school is obviously shocked to hear about the incident and they will take whatever action needs to be taken for the callous bus driver. © Twitter Road safety is a big concern in most cities, especially with buses who drive rash and pay no heed to pedestrians. The upkeep of public transport is a matter of concern and it should definitely not be neglected at any given cost as it plays havoc with people's lives. I hope this is a lesson enough to understand the severity of using vehicles which are poorly managed. We really hope we don't read about a bus driver using an accordion as a brake, next!
  18. It has become very common for all gym bros to take some kind of muscle building 'pills' or 'injections' these days to build muscle. Along with that, horror stories of people dying due to taking bodybuilding drugs, suffering from serious health risks, addiction, and depression frequent the news. They do build impressive physiques by taking these pills and injecting hard to pronounce compounds in their asses. Does this mean you cannot build muscle without taking these drugs? The answer would be NO. The problem with most natural lifters is that they try to imitate drugged or enhanced bodybuilders. It is like going to play cricket with a hockey stick. It is not a different level, it is a different game. How many sixes would you score even if you were the best batsman with the hockey stick? Here is what you can start doing if you are serious about gaining muscle naturally: 1. Increase Your Frequency And Divorce The Bro-Split One muscle group, once a week?! Yes, forget about that. When a person takes steroids, their Muscle Protein Synthesis shoots up for almost a week. Meaning, if they train chest on Monday, they will be repairing and building that tissue until Sunday. On Monday, they repeat again. You, a natural lifter, on the other hand, will have this elevated Muscle Protein Synthesis for 24 to 48 hours max. If you train your chest just once in a week, you will have a window where you are not making any gains for your chest. That is where you lose out on gains. If you want to avoid this, stop having a one muscle per day workout plan. Train all your muscle groups 2 to 3 times per week. 2. Do More Of Compound Exercises It's really cool to see bodybuilders have that pump and then do 20 sets of arms in one session. The fun fact here is that they can recover from these crazy high volumes due to the usage of anabolic steroids. There is nothing wrong with doing isolation exercises like above. Do your bicep curls too. But, not at the cost of compound exercises! To grow muscle, you need to get stronger aka need to have progressive overload. When you start going to the gym, you may be able to curl dumbbells of 7.5 kilos. Over time or say a period of 10 years, this will maximum reach 25 kilos. You did become stronger but the number is not a crazy increase. Let's compare that with a bench press. You start at 20 kilos. Over 10 years, this number can even go up to 120 kilos. That is a 100-kilo increase. You can overload muscle more and get stronger more in your compound exercises. Add to that, these exercises work more than just one muscle group per given time. This helps you save time too. 3. Eat In A Calorie Surplus To gain muscle, you need to eat in a calorie surplus. You cannot lose weight and gain muscle at the same time unless you are a beginner. A lot of bros waste their time trying to recomp or build muscle and lose fat at the same time. It is like two steps forward, one step back. Instead, just focus on one thing at a given time and prioritizing it. So yeah, if you think that you cannot build muscle naturally, that is a wrong notion. It is just that you have been doing things sub-optimally. 20. Nobody likes to be snooped upon, and with chatting becoming our primary medium of communication, it's always best to safeguard these apps. Up till now, you'd have to depend on third-party app lockers or ROM support to lock them using a PIN, Pattern or Fingerprint. But thanks to a new oncoming update, you won't need external help anymore. © Reuters WhatsApp is currently working on adding fingerprint authentication on Android, according to a report by WABetaInfo. In a separate report, WhatsApp was said to be working on a similar feature for iOS with support for two biometric authentication methods – Face ID and Touch ID. © Apple These in-app locking mechanisms aren't new and a plethora of apps have been locking themselves in a similar way. While a lot of IMs are trying to incorporate this, financial apps have long depended on these sources of authentication. The report notes that the feature currently has no timeline for when it will be released to users, but it is definitely in the works. The feature will allow users to unlock WhatsApp and all the chats inside it using the same fingerprint scanner that you will use to unlock the phone. WhatsApp hasn't officially announced the feature yet. But it has already been spotted in recent beta versions of the application. © Reuters It is worth pointing out here that WhatsApp does not have any in-app lock feature. Last year, Alan Kao, a Software Engineer at WhatsApp, had acknowledged that the company had received a lot of request for such a feature. Currently, the WhatsApp app supports two-step authentication with a code. Once users turn on this feature, the code is required to log in to the app, though not always. The code is asked once in a week to continue encryption of chats. © MensXP While you always have the option of using a third party locker, an inbuilt functionality is always prefered as you don't have to mess with pesky ads, and the number of background processes is reduced. The outlet notes that the functionality is still at the alpha stage of development, suggesting it'll be months before it actually launches. Additionally, the report also stated that the new WhatsApp beta version will also get a new and improved Audio picker where users will be able to preview the audio files before sending them. 21. Everyone knows by now that the only meme account on Twitter that matters is the official account of Mumbai Police, and if you didn't know that, then I don't even know what you have been doing with your life for the past year or so. Mumbai Police knows that universal language of social media is memes and they are always on point with every new meme they share. So many Indian police departments have found the perfect way to connect to the youth of the country by disguising PSAs as hilarious memes to get everyone's attention and get the appreciation they deserve. Coming back to Mumbai Police's internet breaking meme of the week, they obviously made a PSA out of the most talked about topic of the week - 'Gully Boy'. The trailer for the highly anticipated movie dropped yesterday and some dialogues were instantly turned into memes. Mumbai Police also got to work and posted their own meme today. 22. In the present day, if you are a regular gym rat you must have heard about Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) and maybe considered using them as well. It is worth mentioning that steroids were never developed for athletic or aesthetic purposes. They were made to treat the ill with muscle wasting conditions in cases of burns, cancer, AIDS or old age. Despite significant side effects, people consistently use AAS in supra-physiological doses, until 2000 the primary users were men involved in bodybuilding (amateur or pro), powerlifting and other athletic endeavours. But there is an alarming increase in young generation using steroids, as a study published by Public Health Wales reports 1 million active male steroid users in U.K i.e. 3% of its population. What is even more surprising, that lads as young as 13-21 are taking steroids. If we extrapolate that 3% to India's Urban male population that will be equal to a whacking 5.4 Million steroid users. © Unsplash Are More Men Interested In Bodybuilding & Powerlifting? With this drastic increase in steroid use, you might think that more of today's generation is interested in competitive Bodybuilding and Powerlifting. But stats reveal something unpredictable: only 27% men were involved in strength and athletic events, merely 22% were involved in competitive bodybuilding, and 56% were using because of body image issues or cosmetic purposes. Having A Greek God Physique Is A Necessity In This Generation! Rick Collins, an American lawyer who specializes in steroid use cases, quotes: “We live in a culture that is absolutely obsessed with appearance. We are judged by our looks every day. So when we look our best, we feel more self-confident. Are steroid users trying to impress themselves or trying to impress others? Both, of course.” © YouTube We dwell in a time where a great physique is a necessity to get roles in movies, be a cover model or run a fitness YouTube channel. In fact, if you do not have 16-inch arms & washboard abs, people won't believe you are serious about fitness. The whole purpose of lifting weights and eating healthy has become: aesthetics. There is a growing pressure on men to look more manly, more muscular, this is probably forcing them to take anabolics. But put aside the physiological side effects, I believe this young steroid using generation is also missing out something vital: The Process. You Are Missing Out On The Process! © Medium Apart from building muscles and strength, you build a character in the gym. The countless number of reps over the years transforms your body from a fragile person who was unable to do bodyweight squats to someone who can now lift more than two times his body weight. These things do not just develop physical but also mental strengths. This reaps perseverance inside you, you develop confidence that with commitment and consistency, you get stronger at things you were once weak. Arnold Schwarzenegger profoundly applied these lessons he learned in the gym to his business, Hollywood and political career. Building a good body with steroids without putting in the necessary hard work and consistency is perhaps developing a loser mentality in this generation. P.S: We know that Arnold used steroids, but he won multiple shows naturally during his teenage and probably exploited his natural potential. Have you even scratched the surface of your natural potential? Yash Sharma is a former national level Football player, now a Strength Coach, Nutritionist and Natural Bodybuilder. 23. 2019 is round about the corner and so are New Year fitness resolutions. While some people would just want to lose weight, also present in large numbers are young gullible dudes trying to put on muscle in a very short span of time. This article is for those young guns that often incline towards steroid usage. 1. To Avoid The Shut Down Of Natural Testosterone Production Let`s get this straight. Whenever you put any anabolic steroid in your body (inject-able or oral), your own natural testosterone production gets shut down. Though the body is very smart, it will still be able to produce testosterone again when you go off steroids but you will never ever be able to get to your natural pre-cycle levels back. © YouTube 2. To Testicular Atrophy ( Shrunken Balls) Also known as 'testicular atrophy', this is again very common during steroid usage. A study found two third of 500 steroid users experienced this type of shrinkage while using steroids. It`s simple. When you feed your body testosterone externally (in form of various steroids), your testicles don`t feel the need to produce the same by their own. Just like they say 'if you don`t use it, you lose it'. Hence they shrink. 3. To Have A Healthy Heart It`s a proven fact that long term steroid usage weakens the heart. Usually people end up doing more and more just like any other habit forming activity. Even several years after discontinuation, increased heart size was found among steroid users as compared to drug free athletes. The left ventricle of heart which is mainly responsible for pumping blood was found to be quite weaker in anabolic steroid users. This is also the reason why many bodybuilders do more cardio to protect heart when using steroids. And if you are an average desk jobber who doesn`t have much time for cardio, you are fucked even more. 4. To Avoid Having Man Breasts Steroids also cause increase in the estrogen levels. Yes, every man has both kinds of hormones- male hormone (testosterone) and female hormone (estrogen). Due to spike in estrogen caused by certain steroids or a combination of steroids, you can develop Gynecomastia which makes your nipples to swell. Now this resemblance is not exactly like that of a woman's chest but good enough to embarrass you as a man. Many steroid users have to go under the knife to get rid of it. © Pixabay 5. To Remain Sane Since steroids throw hormones inside your body out of place, it`s common to see extreme aggression in some individuals also known as 'roid rage'. I`m not saying everyone who takes steroids experiences this but if you are generally very moody, or short tempered, anabolic steroids can amplify that. That's it folks! 25. Every few months, we see a brand ambassador messing up, and the most common blunder is seeing a person market a phone from Company XYZ while actually using an iPhone. Just recently, we saw Gal Gadot tweet about the Mate 10 Pro, from her iPhone. This particular failure has been periodically popping up since years, and the brands have a hard time dealing with it. Back in the days, BlackBerry had gotten Alicia Keys onboard as their brand ambassador and caught her tweeting from an iPhone, while endorsing BlackBerry. © The Mirror Samsung has had its fair share of similar disasters as well. At the Note 10.1 launch in 2012, Kate Upton showed up with her iPhone and actually posed with it for the press. Now, Russian TV personality Ksenia Sobchak is being sued by Samsung for violating a brand ambassadorship contract that specifies she must use the company's phones exclusively. According to The Mirror, Sobchak was spotted using an iPhone X during a television interview, and she was attempting to hide the competing brand's phone under a piece of paper. Obviously, the cameras were rolling and everyone saw the debacle unfold. She was even seen using the iPhone X at social events in Moscow. © The Mirror Samsung isn't happy and wants celebrities to take the contract and the Ambassadorship seriously. Sobchak is now being sued for 108 million Russian rubles (US$ 1.6 million) for the breach of contract. The South-Korean giant has previously paid celebrities like musician Adam Levine and tennis star David Ferrer to use Samsung smartphones, unfortunately even these two were caught red-handed with iPhones in the public. © Huawei Sobchak has been often called the "Russian Paris Hilton," and is reported to be the goddaughter to President Vladimir Putin. Her father, Anatoly Sobchak, is considered to be Putin's mentor. Her representatives are yet to give official statements and the social media is buzzing. It'll be interesting to see how things unfold in Russia, given Sobchak's close political ties. The bigger question remains, why are celebrities so addicted to their iPhones that they can't keep it aside even after being paid loads of money? Source: The Mirror
