  1. Sudan has seen a lot of turmoil and instability since June 2019, when the military first ousted the long-term ruling president Omar-Al-Bashir. It all started way back in December 2018, when the ruling president's government imposed emergency austerity methods in order to do away with an inevitable economic collapse. © BBC This led to a severe political crisis, which in turn made the security forces open fire on pro-democracy protestors in Khartoum. While the protest was peacefully handled, according to the New York Times, as many as 100 people have been killed and about 326 injured. At least 100 peaceful protesters were killed during a military crackdown in Sudan — now the country is at a standstill pic.twitter.com/AK0mPNkG8U — NowThis (@nowthisnews) 12 June 2019 The protestors are demanding a civilian-led interim government and since then, representatives of the protests have been in talks with the military, determining who takes control of authority. But the situation has bled for way too long now and according to the Central Committee of Sudan Doctors, at least 40 bodies were recovered from the river Nile. But How Did It All Begin? Well, the protests started in December 2018 to overthrow the President. Cuts were made to bread and fuel subsidies which sparked protests in the east over the standard of living and ultimately, they reached to the capital Khartoum. The protestors obviously demanded Bashir's government to be thrown out, who had been in power for 30 years. The protests finally reached a conclusion on April 6, when people occupied the square in front of the military headquarters and demanded that the army fight the president out of his rule. Almost 5 days later, the military announced the president was no longer in power. © BBC Women played a main role in the protests, with 22-year-old Alaa Saleh leading the group. Even though a woman was the face of the protestors, as many as 70 women were raped by the police and the paramilitary forces during an attack at the protest camp, while some protestors were shot at, on June 3rd. #SudanMassacre What is happening in Sudan? This is so bad. pic.twitter.com/fMvdiKlUB3 — jafar badi (@BadiJafar) 13 June 2019 So, Now Who Is In Charge? A council of generals took over on April 11 but there was a lot of struggle for the country to regain normalcy, in every sense of the word. The seven-member Transitional Military Council is led by Lt-Gen Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan and they insist they need to be in charge to bring everything back to normalcy again. But unfortunately, the army is not a unified force in the country and a lot of paramilitary organisations and Islamic militia have also taken up authority there. For now, the streets of Sudan are deserted with a complete Internet blackout in the country. The United Nations has condemned the attacks and The Human Rights Council has been called about to probe an inquiry into the Human Rights violations committed by the military in Sudan. Schools, hospitals and health centres in #Sudan have been targeted, looted and destroyed. Health workers have been attacked simply for doing their job. To save children's lives, the violence must stop. #ChildrenUnderAttack pic.twitter.com/A6VbGI6aGo — UNICEF (@UNICEF) 13 June 2019 Who Exactly Is The Opposition? Even though the economic collapse brought the Sudanese from all walks of life to the streets, the demonstration organisation was taken over by The Sudanese Professionals Association, a collaboration of doctors, lawyers and health workers. The protestors are local people across all age groups but most of them are young people, fighting for their rights. When the military finally took power in April, the protestors stood outside Military Headquarters demanding the authority to be given to a civilian administration. The civilian group of protestors and the ruling generals, who come under the umbrella group 'Alliance For Freedom and Change', eventually came to an agreement. © Twitter What Did They Agree On? Both the Civilian Administration and the Military decided on a three-year-transition period to civilian rule. An agreement was reached on May 15, 2019. The protestors claim that Bashir's regime is so deeply planted and implemented that a long transition is needed to completely uproot his political network and allow fair democratic elections again. The two sides also agreed on a new government, including a sovereign council, a cabinet and a legislative body. © Twitter But unfortunately, the military leaders didn't stick to their decisions and scrapped the agreements reached to set up a fresh elections mandate within nine months. The TMC head decided to stop negotiating with the Alliance For Freedom and Change and cancel whatever had been agreed on. In the wake of this fresh agreement, the pro-democracy leaders said they were cutting all contacts with the TMC and called for a 'total civil disobedience' and a general strike. While the strikes were called off on June 11, which almost brought Khartoum to a standstill, most African and Western countries have backed the protestors. Saudi Arabia has urged discussion on both sides but not condemned the military. © Twitter After the strikes have been pulled away, protest leaders are willing to resume power-sharing talks with the ruling military council. “The Alliance for Freedom and Change agreed to end the civil disobedience from today. Both sides have also agreed to resume talks soon." Mahmoud Drir, the official mediator made a statement about the situation. We just hope both the parties reach a common consensus and peace is restored in Sudan, especially in Khartoum, really soon.
  2. Winning two matches in as many outings, the Indian cricket team is undoubtedly in scintillating form in the ongoing ICC World Cup. Giving South Africa a run for their money and then, getting the better of Australia, the 'Men in Blue' are surely living up the reputation as one of the top contenders for the coveted title this year. But, after a fairly successful start in the tournament, the Indian team was dealt with a major blow after it was announced that Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out for about two to three weeks owing to a hairline fracture on his left thumb. After some nervy starts, the Indian opener rediscovered his form on the back of a match-winning knock of 117 runs against Australia. And, his injury surely comes as a setback for both himself and his team. © Reuters In a bid to fill the void left by his injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to fly in swashbuckling Rishabh Pant to England but it's still not clear if the youngster will actually get a chance to break into India's playing XI anytime soon. On the other hand, the BCCI is keeping close tabs on Dhawan, who has been given a week to prove his fitness. It all seems like a bad dream for the Delhi batsman who is one of the most successful batsmen for India (with six hundreds) in ICC tournaments, only behind Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. He may be down, but surely not out (just yet) - something Dhawan highlighted in his recent post on social media. Kabhimehekkitarah hum gulon se udtehain... Kabhidhuyeinkitarah hum parbaton se udtehain... Ye kainchiyaanhumeinudne se khaakrokengi... Ke hum paron se nahinhoslon se udtehain...#DrRahatIndori Ji pic.twitter.com/h5wzU2Yl4H — ShikharDhawan (@SDhawan25) June 12, 2019 In an inspirational tweet, the 33-year-old shared a verse from Dr RahatIndori's poem, signalling his intentions. "Kabhi mehek ki tarah hum gulon se udte hain...Kabhi dhuyein ki tarah hum parbaton se udtehain...Ye kainchiyaan humein udne se khaak rokengi...Ke hum paron se nahin hoslon se udte hain...#DrRahatIndori Ji," Dhawan tweeted. While fans hope Dhawan recovers in time to lead the charge for his team, Virat Kohli-led India will be eager to continue their fine run when they lock horns with New Zealand at Trent Bridge on 13th June.
  3. I'm 23 and I literally didn't get anything for my birthday. But 12-year-old these days are just going and buying themselves luxury cars as birthday gifts. © Twitter Natthanan Sanunrat, a beauty YouTuber from Thailand, turned 12 last month and decided to treat herself to something she can't even use for the next few years. I don't remember what I did on my 12th birthday but spending Rs 1.3 crore on a BMW surely wasn't it. Natthanan received internet fame at such a young age after she took her mother's makeup and started making tutorials online. And now, she's become famous and rich enough to splurge on expensive stuff even while being just 12 years old. © Twitter Honestly, every time I see stories like these, I'm angry at my past self for not starting a Youtube channel as a kid and being a millionaire by now. Also, I'm again reminded about how much Youtubers actually earn, it's insane. It's not me being salty, I'm just amazed. Apparently, this BMW won't actually be the first car she'll drive herself in few years, it'll be a Porche. Yep. © Twitter Her mother, Natcha said, “We encourage and support Natthanan with her work, but we don't push her at all. We don't need to, because she loves doing makeup so much and she's very mature and organised. We're very proud of her and we will drive the car for now, to take her to makeup events and fashion shows. I'm sure that the first car she drives herself will be a Porsche.” Wow, this kid is already so much cooler than I will ever be.
  4. Do you feel like absolute sh** when your favourite character from 'Game of Thrones' dies? It's legit to feel absolutely down in the dumps because you form a dynamic with each character and when they die, it's hard to process that because they make a significant mark in your life. That's what 'GOT' has been doing to people across the board and you can spend hours talking about how and why someone dies but still not find any respite whatsoever. © HBO 'Game of Thrones' has grown over us slowly and steadily, over the last 8 years and we're slowly realising the end is near and we will have to let go every aspect of it soon. Of course the memories from the show will stay but it's almost like we need a constant support group to let them all go and someone's made a worthy effort to make sure we have a proper grievance platform for our favourite show. And guess what, there is one! © HBO Star World has been renowned as the channel that is home to all things 'Game of Thrones' and now, with the final season of the show coming to an end, it has upped the game again by finding a solution to our woes. Monday mornings have never been the same as each episode of the show takes us closer to its inevitable end. In order to engage with fans across the country and help them navigate through all the burns of the season, their many frustrations and melancholies, Star World has now opened up a #GOTHelpline - A first-of-its kind engagement activity, for all 'Game of Thrones' Fans. © HBO Based on the 5 stages of grief. i.e, denial, anger, withdrawals, depression and acceptance, the helpline will guide and support GOT fans through the many emotions they are feeling during each of the remaining episodes. All viewers need to do is give a missed call on 1800 313 6311 to get access to the #GOTHelpline. Whether they are in denial over the show coming to an end, or their anger burns with fiery rage towards the incidents on the show, or they are looking for a distraction, the #GOTHelpline is there to help. © Star World Through witty repartee, biting sarcasm and some of the most memorable moments and quotes from 'Game of Thrones', the helpline will help ease the anguish– whether it is the moment of disappointment when Jon leaves his beloved direwolf Ghost, to Tormund or the anger of Cersei's most recent betrayal when she didn't send her armies to Winterfell like she promised or even when Arya Stark takes the opportunity away from Jon Snow while becoming the AzorAhai. © HBO Through a special functionality made available for fans, they can even theorise and pay their respects to the show and its many characters over the #GoTHelpline. © HBO Now, with seven seasons of drama wrapped neatly under its belt and only one more episode to wrap everything up, things are going to move fast in the 'Game of Thrones' cosmos. Even then, there is no need to worry. Just dial the hotline number 1800 313 6311 and let the raven carry your sorrows to Westeros! © HBO Isn't this just the perfect light at the end of a dark tunnel? A helpline to get us through the end? Well, after episode 5 of season 8, we would certainly need some part of this IVR helpline. With a week left for the series to roll out its finale, it's going to be an emotional rollercoaster and we terribly hope this helpline can really help.
  5. Everyone loves Keanu Reeves, the guy is just so amazing, and everyone loves him as John Wick ever since he took on the role in 2014 and avenged his dog. Now, the third movie in the franchise - 'John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum' - is almost here, but some people have already watched it and it's no surprise that people are loving the movie. Ever since the first promo picture came out - Keanu Reeves with Halle Berry in a desert with two dogs - people have been so excited for the movie. And, concerned about the dogs, of course. Welcome to the next chapter. #JohnWick3 pic.twitter.com/qtvXepVEvw — John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (@JohnWickMovie) December 19, 2018 People are also calling it the best movie in the franchise so far, and well, nothing builds the excitement more than that. #JohnWick3 is an absolute blast and the best film of the @JohnWickMovie franchise so far REVIEW: https://t.co/2fHZlkcn1Q pic.twitter.com/ZI8oocVzUn — UPROXX (@UPROXX) May 10, 2019 Some people disagree. On JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3, which I think is a notch below the other two movies, but still a lot of fun. https://t.co/gXbqz1ugtL — Ignatiy Vishnevetsky (@vishnevetsky) May 10, 2019 Well. JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 is pretty fucking badass. Maybe the most violent studio movie since HOSTEL: PART II. The Boban fight scene RULES & I don't even know if that was one of the top 3 sequences. Loved Mark Dacascos, but everyone is good -- Halle, McShane, Lance, Fishburne, Huston. — Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) May 10, 2019 Now, that's cool. Migos finally have their track “John Wick” featured on John Wick Chapter 3 pic.twitter.com/KxwHMsWSlT — MIGOS ð (@CultureTheAlbum) May 7, 2019 'Veheeery' good movie, apparently. I enjoyed John Wick 3 just fine--it's more John Wick--but I have to say I'm absolutely shocked that the RT rating is so overwhelmingly high. This movie DEFINITELY has more problems than a lot of critics are pointing out imo — Mike Rougeau (@RogueCheddar) May 11, 2019 That's good. John Wick 3 takes a page (and some actors) from The Raid in its relentless action and hard-hitting choreography. There's some plot wheel spinning that kept it from being perfect, but I just love this world and enjoy spending time in it. — Eric Vespe (@EricVespe) May 11, 2019 That's the tweet. #JohnWick Chapter 3 is the best movie ever. That's it, that's the whole tweet. — Brandon Katz (@Great_Katzby) May 10, 2019 Finally, please. I saw that they're handing out trading cards for Detective Pikachu. I hope for John Wick 3 they hand out guns. — Clipper Of Wings (@Exfatvirgin) May 11, 2019
  6. You have already read the headline, and yes, we do mean it. As absurd and insane as it sounds, there is solid logic behind this theory. Let's look at the reasons which led us to wonder whether it actually is possible. Let's start from the beginning. Remember Viserys Targaryen's death? He died because Khal Drogo poured molten gold on his head, and it scalded him. Daenerys had said, "He was no dragon. Fire cannot kill a dragon." What did she mean by that? Both of them were Targaryens. What did she specifically mean by 'a dragon'? (c) Hotstar We'll come back to this, but let's look at another instance first. Daenerys came out of the fire alive, when the dragons were born, and one more time later, when she had set fire to the Dothraki tent. Now, George R R Martin had said, even in the books, that even though Targaryens have a very high heat tolerance, they are not fire-proof. So, Dany being unburnt was a miracle. It was extremely unusual and borderline magical, even by Targaryen standards. (c) Hotstar Why did she not get burnt? Let's now come back to what she said when her brother died - 'Fire cannot kill a dragon'. Did she know she is special? That she had a gift her brother didn't, despite being a Targaryen? Also, remember all the instances Viserys used to threaten her by saying "You don't want to wake the dragon"? What if it was not metaphorical, but literal? What if they knew some family folklore according to which some Targaryens could actually transform into dragons? (c) Hotstar Let's look at the dragons themselves, now. They are magical beasts that don't count as pets. They function at their own will. In fact, Dany herself could not control them during the earlier seasons, where Drogon flew off and she had to lock up Rhaegal and Viserion. But, what is interesting is the fact that Drogon come to rescue her when she needed help inside the fighting pit. (c) Hotstar Also, when Jon needed help beyond the wall, and she could travel with the dragons there. How did the dragons specifically find them? There was no specific address or coordinates, and it's unlikely that Dany just went randomly looking for them knowing that time is running out. That means dragons can sense it, and they don't need to be instructed. (c) Hotstar With that knowledge, let us look at the words of House Targaryen: 'Fire and Blood'. We used to think 'fire' signifies 'we own dragons', and 'blood' probably signifies 'we will kill whoever crosses our path'. However, Targaryens always used dragons to kill, and there was no bloodshed - only ashes. What did 'blood' mean then? What if it referred to their inherent characteristic, more like, their DNA? What if it means they literally have fire in their blood, which means they probably have a recessive gene of sorts that transforms them into dragons under certain circumstances, possibly like inhuman rage? (c) The Johnny Mack Project Let's also note here, how Targaryens tend to always marry within the family. What if they had this knowledge and they wanted to maintain the purity of the gene pool? That might explain all the inbreeding. Now, let's look at hints given in the show itself. Remember the stillborn child of Daenerys and Khal Drogo? Mirri Maz Duur, the witch, claimed that the child came out looking like a monster, and that he had scales like a lizard, and was blind with bat-like wings. Why did her stillborn child have dragon-like features? (c) Westeros.org Also, here is a screenshot from the intro of season 8. We can see 3 small dragons, and a huge 4th dragon behind them. (c) Hotstar What if that is Daenerys herself - the biggest dragon in Westeros? What if 'breaker of chains' is another connotation of her breaking free from her human form? She is, after all, the unburnt and the actual mother of dragons. All we can think of at this juncture is the wise Olenna Tyrell's battle advice to her: "You are a dragon, be a dragon."
  7. Conor Mcgregor is a renowned personality in the MMA arena. His much-hyped fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2017 earned him respect all around the world. Though he is a UFC fighter and boxing isn't his major fighting style, he still took on Mayweather and the fight was one of the most awaited and one of the most-watched fights of the decade. © Reuters Conor's physique was also a talking point at the time of that event. In fact, Conor is always in the headlines for his physique before every UFC tournament. He fights in different weight categories and still manages to look lean in every season. Today, we're going to discuss how you can also build an MMA physique like Conor Mcgregor's: Conor Is Not Bulky Like A Bodybuilder You can't call Conor's physique as a bodybuilding marvel. He doesn't have bulky chest or arms like a competitive bodybuilder. Being a martial artist and a UFC fighter, Conor has to be agile, fast and flexible throughout the year to be ready for fights. Thus, he is lean and has decent muscle mass which looks good on him and at his body weight. If your target is to achieve a physique like him, it can be achieved with a disciplined diet and training regime over time. Focus On Building Lean Muscle Mass If you look at Conor's physique carefully, he is not skinny. He is lean and has muscle mass. So, the first thing that you need to do to look at him is to build lean muscle mass. If you're a guy who is skinny, first you'll have to gain muscles. To gain muscles, you will have to go on a calory surplus diet and focus on resistance training at least 4-5 times in the week. Diet should be a little high on carbs and protein with moderate fats. Carbs will help in your training and high protein in your diet will help you recover from your workouts and build muscle mass. On the other hand, if you're a guy who already has decent muscle mass but is bulky, you will have to get lean to look anything like Conor. Conor's body looks chiselled and ripped as his body fat percentage is really low. So, even if you have decent muscle mass but your body fat percentage is high, you will not look lean and ripped. To get ripped, you will have to follow a calorie deficit diet and increase your calorie expenditure over time. This will help you to get lean and your muscles will look more defined like Conor's. © Reuters Include HIIT & MMA Training Conor's workout routine includes HIIT and MMA workouts on a regular basis. This is how he performs explosive moves during his fights. If your target is not just to look like him but also to perform like him, you need to include martial arts as well as HIIT training in your training regime. If you are going to add weight training, schedule your training in such a way that on the days you are training heavy you're not practising MMA. MMA training in itself is demanding and even a few rounds of sparring can drain you out. A good option would be to take martial arts and weight training on alternate days. 8. Every morning with the rising sun, households come to life all across the world. There is an unsaid routine we all follow during those early hours of the day, and somewhere hidden amongst the folds of those auto-pilot motions of the morning lies a quick, often unacknowledged and seemingly insignificant interaction with the kudawalla. © Reuters Kudawallas are prime examples of people who toil hard every day, mind their own business and yet live humbly without ever seeking the recognition for the great work they do on a daily basis. They are almost guilty of leading a dual life. Much like undercover agents who get real shit done, yet never claim their dues. But let us ask you. Even if they did claim their dues, what are the chances that we would give them their due credit, or hail them as the messiah(s) of change and clean environment that they are? © Reuters Yes, all that pondering and the silence that follows it, speaks for itself. How long has your kudawalla been working for you? And in that period of time how many times have you acknowledged the world of difference that their (hand-y)work makes to our lives day after day? Well, you might not be aware that close to 4 million kudawallas or waste-pickers are engaged in this line of work in India. These waste-pickers dispose around 80 per cent of the 750,000 tons waste Indians generate every single week! © Reuters Not only do these rag-pickers collect garbage from people's houses, but additionally they also pick up waste, clean, sort and segregate it. The process ends with them separating recyclable waste from the rest, which they sell to scrap dealers to earn a regular living. They continue to do their job regardless of the apathy they are met with. With close to 62 million tonnes of annual waste to manage, and given the failing state of the municipality in most parts of the country, it is due to these 'anonymous environmentalists' that India enjoys the highest recycling rates. © Reuters India is ahead of even the USA in this matter, we recycle only 31 per cent of PET bottles as opposed to India's 70 per cent. This is made possible only by the informal recycling chain that operates in the country. Starting with the rag-pickers, who sell the waste to scrap dealers, the chain helps this waste to reach the aggregators, from where the waste eventually goes to recyclers. This informal recycling sector contributes to 100 per cent of all recycling in our country. Now, can you imagine the impact each of these 4 million rag-pickers are making to our environment year-on-year? © Reuters We agree that they are doing this for the money, but tell us, would you consider doing this “dirty work” for a living if someone paid you truck-loads of money for it every month? Then let's take a moment to appreciate and acknowledge the utmost importance of their work for our society and the environment at large. Even with their significant contribution to society, these unsung heroes remain unrecognised and undervalued. What's worse, they also face harassment from Savarna society for what they do. From physical abuse to threats and being called thieves, they have seen it all. Even official documents do not recognise their work towards solid waste management © Reuters With serious health hazards in this occupation, such as contact with hazardous medical waste, soiled sanitary pad and the lines, there is still no stopping these warriors of change, who continue to put their personal health in the line. They deserve so much more than just a passing glance from us every morning, when they stop by, almost religiously, every single day to collect our waste and make our lives cleaner and our environment more livable.
  9. Ronaldo has the best physique among his counterparts in the sport and is one of the best athletes in the world. His day begins with a team practice session that lasts for about 3-4 hours, which includes football drills, HIIT drills, sprinting and weight training exercises. Ronaldo trains in the gym for 4 days/week. His lifting routine primarily focuses on enhancing strength, speed and a little bit of hypertrophy. This type of training is extremely beneficial for athletes. © Reuters Here are six tips that can help you in getting a body similar to that of the Juventus star: 1) Focus On Nutrition: For your body to look jacked, you need to get rid of excess body fat. To get rid of it, get into a state of calorie deficit. A calorie deficit is when you consume fewer calories than is required to maintain your current body weight. Lower body fat is required to showcase your muscles. For most guys, this is 7 to 10% body fat. © Unsplash 2) Pick A Sport: Sports can really help you to in staying active. Pick any sport whichever you like and enjoy it 2-3 times per week. 3) Lift Weights: Weight training is the base to look jacked like Ronaldo. Weight training has various benefits like improving your concentration, building muscle, burning fat, improved *** life, less risk of injury, etc. Hit the gym 3-4 days in a week and be consistent with it. Incorporate compound movements and isolation movements. Learn the motor-skill pattern to build your core strength. © Unsplash Full body movements like the squat, the bench press, the deadlift or the overhead press engage and train your core. Implement big movements properly in your training plan so that you can lift heavy overtime and gain a good amount of muscle. 4) Cardio- Doing some cardio will not hurt your gains if you take care of your nutrition. Cardio can help you to condition your physique, however, cardio can also be a problem if you do too much of it. You can do any form of cardio like HIIT (high-intensity interval training) or LISS (low-intensity steady state). 5) Sleep- Your body will never show signs of improvement if your sleep pattern is not on point. What do I mean by this? You need to get at least 6-7 hours of deep sleep. A good range is 7-8+ hrs for better recovery outcomes. Some might require more than 8 due to their genetics and stress. If you are not able to get at least 6 hours then you might face sleep deprival effects. 6) Supplements- Supplements can really help you fill the gaps. You don't have to take a ton of it and especially not bullshit ones like BCAAs, fat burners, testosterone booster, etc. In fact, I would suggest you take the effective ones like: 1) Whey Protein- Whey protein is more of a convenience food which can help you to fulfil your protein gap. Mostly required by vegetarians and vegans who find difficult to complete their protein intake per day. © Reuters 2) Creatine- Creatine can help you to look fuller overall. It also helps you to increase strength and lean body mass. 3-5g/day intake is sufficient. 3) Caffeine- Caffeine is a stimulant which can help you boost your mood before any intensive work. It boosts your performance in the gym and helps you do more work in a short time. A couple of shots of black coffee will do the magic. To achieve Ronaldo's physique you have to be consistent, disciplined and dedicated. Author Bio: Yashovardhan Singh is an online fitness coach with www.getsetgo.fitness, an online fitness platform. 10. Religious lifters are always looking to get big. It's not just their bench and deadlift numbers that will give them the content of getting good results. They will always chase that size in their muscles as well. via GIPHY If you are one such lifter and are looking to grow some size and look more muscular than before, here are a few strategies that you should implement to achieve that look: 1. Up Your Carb Intake via GIPHY If you've spoken to a competitive bodybuilder, you would know that they all play around with their carb intake near their competition date. They do this to look their absolute best on stage when they are competing. When you eat enough carbs, your muscles get enough glycogen and they are able to bind more water molecule in them to look bigger and bulkier. This strategy works best when you are already carb depleted. However, even if presently you were not consuming enough carb in your diet, try to increase it a bit and see the difference by yourself. Carb sources should be a combination of simple and complex carbs in which complex carbs like sweet potato and oats should be dominant. 2. Stay Hydrated via GIPHY Majority of us think that we drink enough water during our normal routine; however, the truth is that only 15% of the total population actually drinks enough water according to their hydration needs. People who workout need to consume more water as they lose water during their workout. If you do not replenish your hydration level, your muscles will look flat. Try consuming more water even for a day than what you are consuming right now and you would start seeing the difference. Your muscles will look round and full. 3. Take The Right Supplements via GIPHY Though its generally the pre-workouts that promise you that insane pumps and big muscles, but it's creatine monohydrate that can deliver this for you. Creatine Monohydrate is the supplement that every 'natty' guy out there should include in his supplement arsenal. In fact, if you can afford even a single supplement out there; creatine monohydrate should be your choice. The results of creatine monohydrate are totally visible. Though it won't show you the results in a couple of days, yes, a few weeks on creatine and it will be a game changer for you. Creatine Monohydrate will give you that full muscular look that you have always been looking for. 4. Ample Rest via GIPHY Another way to look bigger in a very short period is to give proper rest to your body. Majority of the time people only concentrate on their workouts and compromise on their rest period which includes getting less sleep time. When you sleep less, your muscles don't recover properly and they look flat. Get good sleep of around 8 to 9 hours and you'll notice the difference in your muscles. Fully recovered muscles look more round and full. Anuj Tyagi, author of this article, is a Certified Sports Nutritionist and Therapeutic Exercise Specialist from American Council on Exercise (ACE). 11. Jim Sarbh is the king of quirk, and no, we're not referring only to his choice of roles. When it comes to matters of style and fashion, the man is as non-mainstream as his roles are. Right from rocking gender-fluid ensembles to wearing clothes that manage to steal the collective thunder of the entire Bollywood. His latest avatar, however, is something we have never seen before. Take a look. © Instagram/Jimsarbhforreal © Instagram/Jimsarbhforreal Jim is legit looking like an edgy Indian king, wearing statement sherwanis by Shantanu & Nikhil. The impeccably stitched pieces spell elegance and royalty like nothing else, and we're obsessed with the innovative layering game. © Instagram/Jimsarbhforreal What stands out is the subtlety of the ensembles, in terms of the colour palette. The fact that they can look super conspicuous in spite of that, in terms of sheer design elements, is noteworthy. © Instagram/Jimsarbhforreal © Instagram/Jimsarbhforreal Modern Indian grooms can definitely take a leaf out of Jim's book when it comes to standing apart, as opposed to opting for the same old tried and tested outfits. The draping in some of the outfits are so unusual, that they are effortlessly ramp-ready. © Instagram/Jimsarbhforreal © Instagram/Jimsarbhforreal All we can say is, Jim's style game surely does look like it was 'made in heaven'. 12. This is the right time for a film like 'Kesari' to ride the patriotic wave that's risen in the country, as many who've misplaced their sense of belonging right now can bring it back with this insanely impactful movie. The Akshay Kumar starrer brewed a solid total of almost 100-crore in the first week of its release and if you haven't watched it yet, it's time to get your a*s to the nearest cinema. The film was released on the occasion of Holi, this year and currently it stands at 87 crore. © Zee Studios 'Kesari' is definitely and by far the biggest opener of 2019 and of course the second biggest show-stopper for Akshay Kumar, after 'Gold'. Fortunately, this also makes Akshay Kumar's ninth hit in a row after 'Gold' (102.10 crore), 'PadMan' (78.22 crore), 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' (132.07 crore), 'Jolly LLB 2' (117 crore), 'Rustom' (127.49 crore), 'Housefull 3' (109.14 crore), 'Airlift' (128.1 crore), and 'Singh Is Bliing' (89.95 crore). All we can really say is Kudos Akshay Kumar, you did good! © Pinterest Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also Tweeted his two bits on the success of the film. #Kesari shows an upward trend on Day 3 [Sat]... Metros pick up, mass circuits good... Big Day 4 [Sun] on the cards... Eyes â¹ 80 cr [+/-] *extended* weekend... Thu 21.06 cr, Fri 16.70 cr, Sat 18.75 cr. Total: â¹ 56.51 cr. India biz. — taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) 24 March 2019 The film was a mixed-bag of reviews. While it created an impact with most of the people, some of them thought it was too mainstream for a patriotic film. Rotten Tomatoes had about 11 reviews which were not very tasteful for the film. But other than that, the film did remarkably well, all over. © Zee Studios The film is based on the battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers defended the fort of Saragarhi against 10,000 foreign invaders of the Pashtun fighters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, now in Pakistan. If you haven't seen it yet, here's the trailer, so you can finally make up your mind!
  13. Comic book and superhero movies are all the rage these days, what with so many incredible movies releasing. But, since we cover so much Marvel and 'Avengers' (who can blame us?), here's us taking a little break and talking about 'Shazam'. This is for all those people complaining about all the 'Captain Marvel' articles and how we don't cover DC enough. Enjoy! So, the movie is releasing on April 5th and so it was time for the first, spoiler-free reviews to come out and they're all positive so far. The movie is basically getting a unanimous thumbs up from people who have watched it. There's a special mention for Zachary Levi and how brilliantly he basically portrays a young adolescent. It's entertaining, joyful, and sweet. Moreover, people are saying it completely understands the superhero genre. My spoiler-free #review thread of #Shazam The Donner's Superman of our generation, Shazam has so much heart and goes back to the original core of the superhero genre. This movie makes us believe in a world where Superheroes could exist and be loved at the same time. PT 1/15 pic.twitter.com/wh4TFrSPcn — Luiz Fernando (@Luiz_Fernando_J) March 23, 2019 This is a long review thread. There are many fantasy elements though, but inserted in a real world, with relatable people and situations. In such a way that you really believe that all those things could coexist. Basically what the #DCEU tried since #ManOfSteel, but is Shazam who better hit the goal. PT 2/15 — Luiz Fernando (@Luiz_Fernando_J) March 23, 2019 Let's hope so. The cast is perfect in their characters having the time of their lives, and there is chemistry everywhere. Mark Strong delivers a good villain, the supporting characters are awesome. I loved Billy's adoptive parents. Zachary Levi will get the praises he truly deserves. PT 10/15 — Luiz Fernando (@Luiz_Fernando_J) March 23, 2019 To summarise, #Shazam is a triumph, understands the superhero genre like few did recently. Amazing cast and storytelling. An emotional rollercoaster. As said in my reaction, a Gift for the genre, and a winner for WB. PS: wait til the end of the last bunch of credits. PT 15/15 — Luiz Fernando (@Luiz_Fernando_J) March 23, 2019 Seems promising. #Shazam (2019) SPOILER-FREE REVIEW! This movie reminded me of my childhood. I HATED MY CHILDHOOD! Jonah Jameson Reviews (@jonah_reviews) March 25, 2019 That's exciting. #Shazam ably carries the ball forward for DC's movie universe from #Aquaman. Big action, big laughs, big heart underneath, with terrific star turns from both @AsherAngel & @ZacharyLevi. (I also have to give it up for how well the marketing kept the best surprises under wraps!) — Zaki Hasan (@zakiscorner) March 24, 2019 Well, that's good. My Non-Spoilery thoughts on SHAZAM! SHAZAM is the 1-2-3 punch of the DCCU solo movies, continuing the streak from WONDER WOMAN to AQUAMAN to this fun Big Red Cheese-y flick! @ZacharyLevi @AsherAngelâ© â¦@Jgrazerofficialâ© are all perfect! Will watch EVERY movie in this franchise! pic.twitter.com/q0uYHphqGf — Dan Slott (@DanSlott) March 24, 2019 That's one way to put it. Saw an early screening of #Shazam . Probably one of the best Christmas movies ever made, right up there with Die Hard and Iron Man 3. Can't wait to see it again April 5! @ponysmasher is amazing! — Funmi Adetola (@FunmiAdetola1) March 24, 2019 Let's hope so. The fun thing is, #SHAZAM is basically creating a VERY new version of the whole mythos for an audience that will mostly have never heard of it, but oldschool/hardcore fans wondering how far/"deep" it's going to go will know like 2 minutes in... and then still be impressed. — Bob Chipman (@the_moviebob) March 24, 2019 Okay then. #Shazam is easily the best DC Comics movie of the current editions -- an absolute blast from start to finish and impressive balance of fun, heart, and terror. Incredible. #Shazam — TheFliteCast (@TheFliteCast) March 23, 2019 Oh wow. #Shazam isn't just a great superhero movie, it's the best DCEU movie. Even better than Aquaman. 14. The twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) brought two heavyweights Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) facing each other at a packed MA Chidambaram stadium on 23rd March. To set the hearts racing, the opening match also pitted two of the biggest names in international cricket - MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli - against each other. But, in a contest that had star players including the likes of Kohli, Dhoni and AB de Villiers, an unlikely candidate managed to steal the spotlight. © Twitter/IPL Harbhajan Singh stunned the RCB and left every cricket fan in awe with a brilliant bowling spell that ended with impressive figures of 3-20. The inclusion of Harbhajan, who took just seven wickets in 13 games last season, in the Chennai line-up had surprised cricket pundits and fans alike. But, the off-spinner repaid the faith of his captain and team management with a brilliant outing. For someone who took his last T20 wicket against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 11th May last year, Bhajji appeared to be a class of his own as he claimed the prized wickets of Kohli, De Villiers and Moeen Ali. Thanks to his bowling effort, Chennai managed to restrict RCB to a mere 70-run total - the sixth-lowest total in IPL history. © Twitter/IPL In reply, Chennai chased the paltry total with seven wickets and 14 deliveries to spare. Harbhajan was also adjudged the 'Man of the Match' for his pivotal bowling effort. "This is a special award for me. It goes to my wife and family. You cannot ask for a better start. Since they have a lot of left-handers, Fleming came and told me I will be playing. It was nice to get a wicket up front and once you have it, your confidence level grows up. Imran bowled really well and it's always nice to get wickets of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. How often an off-spinner gets their wickets," Harbhajan said at the post-match press conference.
  15. One of the worst terror attacks happened recently and took the lives of 49 people who were just praying peacefully at their place of worship, a place that was supposed to be safe for them. The Christchurch shooting in New Zealand happened yesterday and the tragedy has shaken the entire world. A gunman opened fire at two mosques which claimed the lives of 49 people and injured another 40. With so much emphasis being shed on how the shooter targetted a mosque that was completely peaceful, a Twitter user thought to bring light to the fact that every mosque is indeed peaceful. A place of worship is obviously a peaceful place, I mean it's kind of like a safe haven for people and the fact that someone targeted people while they were worshipping adds even more to the tragedy. Twitter user Rami Ismail called on the Muslim Community across the world to share their most ordinary and mundane experiences at a mosque and it gave birth to one of the most beautiful Twitter threads ever. Since several news networks emphasize that the mosques at the Christchurch shootings were #PeacefulMosques, as if most aren't: Hey muslims, tell me something painfully mundane and common at your mosque, whether you visit it five times a day or one time a year. Non-muslims, RT. — Rami Ismail (@tha_rami) March 15, 2019 He started it off. At my #PeacefulMosques, we used to have this 5-ish year old kid that would always run in front of everyone during prayer, and when he grew old enough to realize that was improper he stopped doing that and I actually kinda missed him messing up my prayer. — Rami Ismail (@tha_rami) March 15, 2019 The pigeons need a home. at my local mosque, the third floor has been abandoned and completely taken over by pigeons — abdullah (@ahmedinho_s) March 15, 2019 Who will complain about that? We hire security guards during Ramadan and have cops here every Friday. Over time, they just became part of our community. When we break fast, folks will take plates of food out to them and sit and eat with them, since they're usually missing dinner with their own families. — Haris Khan (@hariscodes) March 15, 2019 This is too cute to handle, tbh. It's so simple and genius, if you've seen the movie, you'll get the joke and that's fun and if you haven't yet watched a certain movie, congrats nothing is getting spoiled! I think the first time I saw the movie spoiler without context tweets, was right after the release of 'Avengers: Infinity War' and since then I've seen more and more people tweet this for different movies. Along with 'Infinity War', we've seen some hilarious spoilers for movies like 'Deadpool 2' and 'Antman And The Wasp'. Now, another Marvel movie is all set to join the list. The Khurana brothers are perhaps the most stylish siblings in Bollywood right now, and even though Ayushmann usually is the forerunner in terms of kickass style moves, Aparshakti is not far behind at all. Yes, the Indian cricket team lost the two-match T20I series against the visiting Aussies and yes, it is for the first time in 40 months that the Men in Blue have lost a series on their own soil. It's just one of those things you can't and mustn't complain about. This is where the sportsman spirit steps in: to be equally content in wins and losses. Major props to Glenn Maxwell who delivered under extreme pressure to seal the deal for the Australia cricket team and also made a case for himself before the selections of the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 as he scored an unbelievable 119 off just 55 deliveries. His wicket-keeping instincts quickly took over as he extended his right leg for an astonishing 2.14 metres to get inside the line to avoid being stumped by Australian keeper Peter Handscomb. The third umpire gave a decision in favour of the batsman as the replay showed that Dhoni was too quick and well inside the crease for Handscomb to knock the bails off. 19. Innovation doesn't come easy and Samsung managed to pull off a working foldable smartphone and calls its the “Galaxy Fold.” It's a phone that can fold and can be bought for a lot of money. There's no doubt that the Galaxy Fold is an engineering marvel; however, it has one very obvious caveat. The Galaxy Fold may look different from anything you've ever seen, but it's too damn thick when folded. © Samsung The device itself has a screen size of 4.6-inches when folded and turns into a 7.3-inch display when unfolded and becomes a tablet. It's probably the most refined foldable smartphone we've seen yet. The one feature that sets the Galaxy Fold apart from others is its app continuity feature. Currently, it works with YouTube, WhatsApp, Google Maps, YouTube, Netflix and Facebook. © Samsung On one hand, the Galaxy Fold is a device that lets you fit something in your pocket that is as big as a tablet. On the other hand, the Galaxy Fold is way too thick for it to sit comfortably in your pocket. Reports suggest that the Galaxy Fold is 17mm thick when folded and 6.9mm thick when unfolded. To put things into perspective, the Galaxy Fold is as thick as the Nintendo Switch and it is certainly not practical to fit something that thick in your pocket. On the brighter side, the Galaxy Fold does come with impressive specifications that makes it one of the most powerful and expensive smartphones yet. The Galaxy Fold comes with 12 GB of RAM and batteries on each side of the foldable phone. It has six cameras, i.e. three on the back, one on the front and two inside. © Samsung The rear cameras are a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera. On the inside, the two cameras are a 10-megapixel selfie camera and an 8-megapixel depth camera. As for the front-facing camera, the Galaxy Fold has a single 10-megapixel selfie camera. Even though the Galaxy Fold is probably the most exciting thing made by Samsung yet, it's sheer thickness can be problematic for users who want a practical device. The Galaxy Fold also costs $ 1980 (Approx Rs 1,40,670) which is a fair price for something that's innovative. Whether folding phones will be a thing of the future remains to be seen. Maybe, future iterations will be thinner and more affordable.
  20. “India's music festival scene seems to have taken a leaf out of the big fat Indian wedding booklet. They keep getting grander,” I overheard a fellow attendee who was attending her first major music festival in India. First of all, let's establish that I'm no expert on the subject. But music fest regulars keep telling me about amplified audiences and improved logistical arrangements in the last few years. These efforts have definitely put India on the world map of parties and merrymaking in the name of music. I assume that most of you reading this are at least aware of the Fyre documentary on Netflix; so we know how bad things can get. My friends from the PR industry insist that Budweiser, especially with its vertical Budweiser Experiences (BE), has had a critical impact in this space. To be honest, it's hard to ignore the good things that have happened in electronic music via BE fests like Tomorrowland, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Sensation. In India, it has also introduced 'What's Brewing' – a global music platform where local and international artists perform exclusive sets and BUDx Boiler Room, which claims to be the first global electronic music lab in India. © Budweiser/MensXp Budweiser Experiences calls itself an innovative platform curated with an aim to shape youth culture in India and provide world-class experiences for our consumers across the passion points of music, art, sport and lifestyle. And going by our experience at Sensation, when they invited us over for arguably India's most well-known dance music festival Magnetic Fields, we had to answer the call. It was my first trip to the magical land of musical experiences in the North West corner of Rajasthan, Jhunjhunu. The festival takes over the ostentatious Alsisar Mahal every December to bring together the most regal rave in India. Around 4,000 partygoers gather to freely glamp in the sand, meander across sunbaked roofs, and enjoy the fluid nature of the festival's structure (you aren't given the Festival Guidebook until you arrive at the venue) across three days. Plot twist: I was sober throughout the rave. I'm not averse to experiments, but ingesting psychedelics didn't feel as inviting at that point in time. It's easy to feel like a misfit in that sea of 3,999-odd others in that situation but I got through and had a lot of fun in the process. With the party season is in full swing right now, you might also find yourself in similar situations. That's why your saviour has made you a proper guide to stay sober and yet make the most of India's big fat music festivals. And it goes like this: Immerse in the travels © Budweiser/MensXp There's only one way to approach Alsisar Mahal i.e road transport. Most attendees chose to drive but our media junket was provided with our own bus from Delhi. The camp site was around 225km away and the landscapes after exiting the NCR confines were a huge relief from city life. More so for the music journalists who were travelling from Mumbai. There's only one midway restaurant on the way though. Cars had made a beeline and the costumes of their passengers were a definite giveaway about their destination. Do try their pakodas with chaai, and have a plate of the biryani if the hunger pangs are too intense. Pro tip: Carry your own cigarettes and carry your own snacks. Everything else you're too careful about, I'm sure. Make friends © Budweiser/MensXp I met a few familiar faces from my Mumbai circles, in Delhi. But little did I know about India's music journalist community. Some of them, just like the sports and auto sectors, are true nerds of their craft. And eventually, nothing beats a good old glass of rum to make new friends. The rest of the fest's audience was drawn from across the country, particularly the party-friendly cities of Mumbai and Bangalore. There were also expats from the Gulf and a number of Europeans, of the backpacking, hippy variety, who were climaxing on this orgasmic intersection of 'culture' and history. “Ek bottle paani,” I heard a white dude ask a local vendor. A few quick exchanges later we exchanged numbers and promised to host each other in Germany and Delhi respectively. Pro tip: Just go up to people and talk. Most fest goers don't bite. Eat well © Budweiser/MensXp Speaking of local vendors, don't fall into the trap of glamping restaurants; rather eat at the by lanes running along the palace's boundary walls. The entire village comes to life during Magnetic Fields and locals conjure up tiny eateries, extending from their patios. Try out all the local food and especially some of the desi chicken and mutton preparations. It was so cold I couldn't resist the Maggi and eggs either. Pro tip: Carry toilet rolls if anything goes wrong. You're in the middle of a fucking desert. Colder climates don't run a high risk of dehydration unless you're drinking. Alcohol can easily be obtained at one of these makeshift local shops. Prices are nearly double the standard rates, but that's the least you can pay for that convenience. Either way, stay hydrated under the day Sun (which can be scorching at times) and pee responsibly. Enjoy the countryside © Budweiser/MensXp Apart from satiating gastronomic requisites, the Rajasthani countryside also offers unique handloom shops and other surprises. It likes to pride itself in being a capsule illustrative if a time when the land was ruled by Rajput warriors. Look carefully and you'll find ancient frescos and carvings on the medieval era buildings. Lucky ones, like yours truly, also get guided tours from the palace's prince himself. He followed him around the maze-like gullies and arrived at a pop-up staged called Pukaar. No trip to Rajasthan is ever complete without a dose of folk music and Kutle Khan's group was just that glimpse of the region's melodic prowess. Pro tip: Talk to the locals, they're fascinated by everything that's happening around them. PS: The more orthodox ones might just be a little pissed Let the music guide you © Budweiser/MensXp And finally, the variety of musical experiences is a fitting exhibition of the festival's essence. There's a stage called Oasis, which is a cute little setup in the sand. DJs from Monica Dogra to Kristy Harper, and Delhi Sultanate played under the winter Sun here across the three days. Grab a six-pack from a nearby counter and you're sorted for a few hours. The sundown magic begins at the terrace party, where I discovered the effortless coolness of Lifafa and the nights then unfold at the North Stage, the South Stage and the BudxYard. Along with the likes of Daphin, Pangaea and Carista at these arenas, a Delhi band called Submarine in Space enthralled a niche crowd at Piano Man Jazz Club's 'The Peacock Club' stage. My personal favourite at the festival though was undoubtedly Tajdar Junaid. Before his participation was announced, big acts including Nabihah Iqbal were cancelled. Music journalists were especially bummed, but Junaid put a smile on everyone's face and a tear or two in a few eyes. Pro tip: Keep listening, there'll be a tune for you. So there you go. Next time you're feeling left out at Mag Fields or any other big fat Indian music fest, here's your tried and tested guide to merriment. Thank me later.
  21. The Redmi Note 7 was launched earlier this month in China, and the phone's biggest feature that has been advertised is its durability. In order to prove their claims, the company released a video where the smartphone was put through a bunch of stress tests. The video shows employees stomping on the Redmi Note 7, throwing it down the staircase and also a man used it as a skateboard. © YouTube The first video below shows Redmi CEO Lu Weibing throwing the Redmi Note 7 down a staircase and it suffered multiple tosses yet did not suffer any bumps or scratches. Another user used the smartphone as a skateboard by sticking wheels with duct tape. Even in this scenario, the Redmi Note 7 did not suffer any scratches or any other form of damage. This was possible thanks to the phantom grade double-sided Corning Gorilla Glass 5 body that protects the smartphone from such ordeals. In terms of other specifications, the Redmi Note 7 has a dual 48-megapixel camera set up at the back, 4,000 mAh battery and a teardrop notch display. Redmi is now a separate sub-brand of Xiaomi and its first phone is the Redmi Note 7 that has already been launched in China. The Redmi Note 7 features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2340x1080 pixels) display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC paired with 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM options along with 32GB and 64GB storage options. © Redmi For more information on the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro, you can check out all the details here.
  22. Comedy is just a funny way of being serious but there is nothing harder than doing comedy. Laughter is a big part of our lives, we must try to laugh as much as possible because life is too short to be grumpy and irritated. In recent years, TV Series' have become an essential part of our lives. A heartfelt thanks to all the writers and actors who put a smile on our faces with their humour and wit. Comedy isn't only about being funny, it is a perspective on greater problems in a jovial way; it questions the long-standing, archaic human emotions. Feeling low? Watch a funny show, you will feel positively better. Whenever it comes to comedy shows, 'Friends' and 'Seinfeld' among others always take the cake. But, there are a lot of other shows which don't get their due because of not enough fanfare or publicity, even if they are funny and have good material. Under the more popular opinion, these shows tend to get underrated. Being a 'Friends' fan myself, I can't possibly think that there is some other show which might come at par with it; this is where I stand wrong. If you only eat a particular type of food, you wouldn't get to experience the taste of others. So, branch out! Here are six of the best comedy shows (unfortunately underrated) which deserve a much bigger fanbase and greater popularity: 1. Grace and Frankie (2015-): What would you do if you found out that your partner of 40 years was gay? This is what happens to Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein who are well into their early 70s and find out that their respective husbands, Robert and Sol (played splendidly by Michael Sheen and Sam Waterston), are gay and have been cheating on them with each other for the past 20 years. Crazy, right? To top it off, Robert and Sol want to divorce their respective wives and get married. © Netflix / Skydance Television / Okay Goodnight This starts a series of hilarious incidents with Grace and Frankie leaving their husbands and moving into a beach house owned by both families. What follows is a funny train wreck. With starkly opposite personalities, the prim and proper Grace and eccentric, scatter-brained Frankie who hate each other and have never got along well, clash at every opportunity which ends up with comedic results; Frankie being declared officially by government offices, Sol becoming a theatre artist, Grace exploring her sexuality and dating pool, eventually Grace and Frankie becoming best friends and starting a vibrator business! If you think what a show with two old women could have in store for a young person like you, then you will be mightily surprised by the comedic elements and situations of the show; which is the main theme. Just give it a try! Why do we recommend it? - Jane Fonda is superb as Grace Hanson, the no-nonsense, uptight intelligent blonde and Lily Tomlin as the lovable, doofus, hippie-inspired Frankie Bergstein and they carry the whole show on their shoulders. - Their comedic timing is impeccable and their camaraderie from the “9 to 5” (another movie in which they starred together) days is fun to watch and effortless. © Netflix / Skydance Television / Okay Goodnight -An ensemble cast with June Diane Raphael and Brooklyn Decker as the Hanson daughters and the Ethan Embry and Baron Vaughn as the quirky Bergsteins are a hoot. - It shows how you don't need to worry about age to have fun and start afresh. Nothing more to be expected from Marta Kauffman, who gave us 'Friends'! You are sure to get a lot of 'Friends' vibes. No. of seasons: 4 Total no. of seasons: 5 (4 released, 1 to be released in 2019) 2. Schitt's Creek (2015-): Don't judge a show by its title! :D © CBC / Not a Real Company Productions When the uber-rich Roses lose their multi-million fortune to tax evasion, they are forced to leave their mansion and settle in a town, Schitt's Creek, which they once bought as a joke for their son's birthday. Follow the Roses as they try to adapt to their new life in this dilapidated town in America; starting with living in a descript, cheap motel and the town's horde of quirky characters; Roland Schitt, the creepy mayor and his innocent wife, Jocelyn among others. The series further follows the lives of the individual characters, and how they evolve; Johnny Rose: The patriarch, previous owner of a chain of video stores, Rose Videos, who is trying to come to terms with his loss and his new business ventures which mostly have funny repercussions. Moira Rose: A former TV star of a mildly successful show called 'Sunrise Bay' who can't cope with the sudden shift of fortunes and is still trying to maintain her lifestyle, complete with her over the top costumes and precious wigs (which she has individually named). Alexis Rose: The spoilt, slightly dumb and utterly selfish daughter who has breezed through life till now and been everywhere in the world, with her various rich boyfriends and is trying to be okay with her situation because she likes the vibe. :P David Rose: The gay, sassy son of the Roses, who needs everything in order and is not very happy with how his life has turned out and is trying to find some direction in life and also friends and love (and does so with the motel receptionist, Stevie Budd). © CBC / Not a Real Company Productions Why do we recommend it? -The iconic pair of Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara, who play Johnny and Moira, gives the laughs and the feels for the show. Their camaraderie is unbreakable. Catherine's Moira is superlative. Only she can pull off all those different accents and the whole uptight, classy lady act. For all the troubles they face, the love for each other doesn't diminish in the slightest. Eugene is Eugene, the affectionate dad from American Pie. -The episodes are funny and earthy; they have captured the essence of human relations and portray them through comic scenarios. -“Eww David!”, Alexis' (Annie Murphy, who plays the character brilliantly) catchphrase will make you laugh every time and will make sure that you won't be able to say and hear “David” normally again. Stevie (Emily Hampshire) and David (Daniel Levy) are friendship goals; they are adorable together. -Chris Elliot as the mayor, Roland, provides the creepiness required which is balanced by his counterpart, Jocelyn, played by Jennifer Robertson. No. of seasons: 4 Total no. of seasons: 5 (4 released, 1 to be released) 3. Full House (1987-1995): Even though it was a popular show, I somehow find that it doesn't get its fair share, being termed as a family comedy. A comedy about a recently widowed guy, Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), who along with his best friend, Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier), and cool brother-in-law, Jesse Katsopolis, tries to raise and care for his three daughters. © WB Television / Miller Boyett Productions The series focuses on the crazy antics of the Tanner family and the hysterical situations they fall into owing to the kookiness of Joey, the OCD which Danny has and his obsessive nature and the cool dude factor of Jesse. The girls, DJ, Stephanie and Michelle, aged 10, 5 and six months, add to the charm of this family comedy. Why do we recommend it? - Before Joey Tribbiani was asking women how they were doing, it was Jesse, played by John Stamos who was making women go weak in their knees with his “Have Mercy!”. The character is tailor-made for John, with his obsession with his hair and music, he is the cool uncle we want and the guy everyone wants to be. Get a few pointers from him but follow them at your own risk! :P - Joey and Chandler are iconic, no doubt about that but so are Jesse and Joey. Their bromance will make you laugh all the way through its 8-season run. You could say that they were the “Chanoey” of the 80s. Aunt Becky (played by Lori Loughlin), Jesse's wife, doesn't have a chance. © WB Television / Miller Boyett Productions - The show features the now reclusive Olsen twins: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen as Michelle Tanner. Starting out at the age of six months, it was their stairway to success. Prepare to get sappy with their adorable acting and laugh at their fights with her on-screen older siblings. - Danny Tanner, with his penchant for cleaning, will remind you of Monica. They are basically the same person; Type A, nerdy, cleanliness freaks, I can go on and on. You will find yourself relating to him. - Dave Coulier's impressions are legendary, and you get to hear Ted Mosby's 2030 voice before it became cool, i.e. the voice of Bob Saget. No. of seasons: 8 Total no. of seasons: 8 4. Community (2009-2015): This show is what we would call the runt of the litter. Even though it has intelligent writing and superb performances, it doesn't get featured much on the comedy scene. It has an unconventional brand of humour, mostly meta humour which most people don't get or are not used to in the conventional sitcoms. It features a sarcastic former lawyer, Jeff Winger, who has been disbarred owing to his lie about having a law degree from Colombia University, as a result of which he enrols into Greendale College in order to obtain an authentic law degree. After starting a fake study group to spend more time with his new crush, Britta (Gillian Jacobs) who is an activist for various causes, his plans go awry as she invites other students into the group. © NBC / Sony Pictures What follows is a laugh riot comprising of his struggle to finish his degree with minimum effort and having to deal with a host of weird fellow students and teachers while trying to enjoy his time as a student. © Pinterest Why do we recommend it? - Joel McHale as the glib, manipulative, suave ex-lawyer, Jeff, is perfection. His chemistry with classmate Britta is believably sweet. - Abed and Troy are poster boys for friendship. Their scenes together are tummy-tickling funny and the best thing about them is that they bring out the best in each other, Abed's influence and pop-culture mania make Troy carefree and different from his bully demeanour and Troy helps Abed to become more sociable. -Ben Chang, the eccentric teacher who is constantly changing his behaviour, played by Ken Jeong (of 'The Hangover' and 'Dr Ken' fame) is hilarious. Also, Shirley and Annie add to the insanity with their antics. No. of seasons: 6 Total no. of seasons: 6 5. Psych (2006-2014): A detective comedy which centres around Shawn Spencer (James Roday), a crime consultant who has made people believe that he is a psychic and is then mainly hired by the Santa Barbara police department for solving complex crimes. What no one is aware of is that he is no psychic, but he has just heightened observational skills and a strong eidetic memory. He is joined by his best friend, the only one on the secret, Burton Gunser (Dulé Hill) who is extremely intelligent and apprehensive about joining him initially. Together, they solve crimes with hilarious incidents preceding it. © NBC Universal Television Studio / Universal Cable Productions Why do we recommend it? - The comedy is not derivative and very real. There is no canned laughter and the series relies on the comic timing of the leads completely. - The episodes are not over the top and unlike other comedies has a story. The stories are well-executed and don't drag on. - The episode starts with a memoir from the childhood of both leads usually ending with a life lesson which further helps them in cracking the case. © NBC Universal Television Studio / Universal Cable Productions No. of seasons: 8 Total no. of seasons: 8 6. Everybody Loves Raymond (1996-2005): Created by the talented Philip Rosenthal, with events inspired by his own life, it is an uproarious comedy about Raymond Barone (Ray Romano), a successful sports writer for the newspaper “Newsday”, who is sarcastic and irresponsible and as a result constantly finds himself in the middle of some or the other funny argument or jam, a creation of his own callousness. The constant struggle between his wife Debra and his mother, Marie, keeps throwing him in a tight spot, from which there is no easy escape without offending one of them. Yet again, if not these two women, he is bound to get in the middle of some familial argument, which doesn't go well for him due to his indecisiveness on any matter which sure entertains the viewer. Raymond's knack for joking even in serious situations also lands him in hot waters; he doesn't know when to crack jokes and this makes him adorable. © CBS / HBO Independent Productions / Where's Lunch Why do we recommend it? - The dry humour is a respite from the slapstick humour recent shows provide and are heavily dependent on. You are bound to get a 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai' vibe while witnessing Debra (Patricia Heaton) and Marie (Doris Roberts) arguing. - The sibling rivalry between Raymond and his older brother, Robert, a giant of a man with a sweet disposition, who is not so famous and is clearly not the parents' favourite, will surely remind you of your sibling! They keep arguing throughout the show because Robert is constantly jealous of Raymond's celebrity and likability but loves him deep down. - The show explores how family is important and how much it matters to have a loving one and how it changes you. Frank Barone, typical of his American-Italian heritage is shown to be tough but is a loving father under the surly exterior; which Raymond has adopted in a way which is a bone for contention in his and Debra's marriage. No. of seasons: 9 Total no. of seasons: 9 Now that you know that there are better shows out there, go get your fair share of laughter!
  23. The Apple Watch Series 4 comes with an ECG function that was recently released in the U.S. Since it became available for about a month, the feature is already proving to be a useful one. It was able to detect atrial fibrillation with the new feature and saved a man's life in Nashua, New Hampshire. Barry Maden originally bought the Apple Watch to “keep a closer eye on his health after suffering a brain injury.” He bought the Apple Watch for it's Fall Detection feature. “He originally got it because they have a new fall risk app where, if he were to fall and I'm not nearby, the fall sensor will sense that he fell and call 911,” said his wife, Tara Maden. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla He originally thought he was suffering from anxiety due to travelling for the holidays. However, his Apple Watch alerted him that his heart appeared to be in A-fib. It isn't clear if Maden used the ECG app right away to detect the A-fib. However, it was enough for him to double check if he was suffering from something serious. He soon thereafter took himself to the emergency room. © Apple At the hospital, doctors performed their own tests using a more advanced ECG device to verify the Apple Watch's discovery. It was soon discovered that Maden's “heart was essentially stopped and restarted by doctors.” The Apple Watch has been found to save lives previously and recently saved a woman from drowning in water as her car flipped over. 24. There have been numerous instances in the past where the Apple Watch saved lives, thanks to features on board that facilitates emergency services. There have been instances where users were warned of an impending heart attack, indicating heart diseases due to abnormal heart rates and even car crashes. However, this time a woman was saved due to a car crash that flipped several times before it landed in a ditch filled with mud and water. © YouTube (for representation purposes only) During the crash, Amanda Antonio, 20, had lost her phone but managed to locate it using a feature on the Apple Watch that pings the smartphone. She then called 911 and according to the transcript this is what she said “Hi, I've been in a car accident. My car is flipped and I can't see anything and there's water getting in the car. I can't get out. The water level was apparently rising at a fast pace and had reached Antonio's chin level. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The feature on the Apple Watch lets users ping their paired iPhone that makes a sound to let the user know where it is. It's a nifty feature that not only lets you find your iPhone, but apparently can also end up saving lives. To know more about Apple's latest smartwatch, you can read our review here. 25. Yet another match, yet another early dismissal for the Indian Test opener, KL Rahul who faced only 5 balls before Shaun Marsh sent him away with an easy catch at slip. The 26-year-old was visibly disappointed as he walked back to the locker room bagging all but 9 runs for his first innings. View this post on Instagram Oh what a start for the Aussies! The seam position on this from Josh Hazlewood ðð A post shared by cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) on Jan 2, 2019 at 4:02pm PST Rahul has not been in form and was dropped for the third Test at Melbourne after performing poorly at Adelaide (2, 44) and Perth (2, 0). Evidently, the fans were annoyed when they saw his name in the Final 13-man squad for the extremely crucial fourth and final match of the series. In all honesty, very few believed that despite making the Final 13, Rahul would actually play today and were hoping to see an injury-recovering Ravichandran Ashwin on the field as a replacement for Rohit Sharma who is in India, visiting his week-old daughter. Despite opening the match with his best friend and U-19 teammate, Mayank Agarwal, who has been exceptionally good and consistent during the series, Rahul was unable to capitalise on the chemistry and went to the bench within no time. And of course, the hardcore fans of the game had things to say on Twitter. I got up 5 mins late. Missed legend's batting. Come to think of it, when Sunil Gavaskar bashed India's team management a few weeks ago and suggested sending Rahul back home where he could have partnered with Manish Pandey for Karnataka for the Ranji Trophy, it does not sound like a bad idea now in retrospect. Rahul would not only have been of great significance for Karnataka but would also have a lot of matches to play and the time to get his mojo back. But there is no point crying over spilt milk now. With the ODI series at hand starting 12th January and the World Cup around the corner, what do you think is in store for KL Rahul?
