Samsung Confirms Radical Design Of Galaxy S9

Last week Forbes revealed the design of the Galaxy S9 and it seems like Samsung has somewhat confirmed it. The news was first spotted by GalaxyClub and it was discovered that the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus were publicly submitted to the FCC for approval. The FCC stands for Federal Communications Commission, which is an independent agency of the United States that regulates smartphones and other communication devices.Β

Not much was revealed in the listing other than the model number of the devices i.e. Galaxy S9: SM-G960F, Galaxy S9 Plus: SM-G9605F. Having said that, the listing clearly shows that the device is near completion as FCC certifications are never requested until manufacturers are 100% sure their devices will pass in their final retail form.Β

There are rumours that Samsung will release the two smartphones earlier than expected as a way to aggressively compete with the iPhone X. The Galaxy S9 is supposed to have incremental upgrades in the specs and also an improved design for better usability.Β

The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are supposed to have a higher screen-to-body ratio, where the S9 Plus is supposed to have a dual camera setup much like the Galaxy Note 8. The Galaxy S9 is also rumoured to have a 3.5mm headphone jack and a fingerprint sensor right below the camera. The Galaxy S8's fingerprint sensor placement was in an odd and uncomfortable position and it feels like Samsung has heard their fans and reviewers alike to change the position.Β

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are supposed to launch alongside the midrange Galaxy A8 and A8 plus. There are also rumours of Samsung launching the Galaxy X which is supposed to have a bendable AMOLED screen. Are you excited about the upcoming Galaxy S9? Let us know in the comments.Β
