The pain of losing a child is excruciating and unbearable. And when you miraculously get reunited with your child after a 24-year long struggle, no amount of happiness can ever match with that feeling and no one can understand this better than Wang Mingqing.

On a day when the entire world was busy pranking each other, Wang Mingqing got the most precious gift of his life – his daughter, who disappeared in 1994 when she was only 3-0years-old. Wang Mingqing and his wife were selling fruits to a large crowd of customers when their daughter disappeared. He said that he left the stall only for some time and when he came back, she was gone.

Since then, the couple has been desperately looking for their child. From contacting the police, putting up missing person signs all over the city to going to shelters and hospitals; Mingqing left no stone unturned in finding her.

In fact, Mingqing became a cab driver in 2015, to spread the word about his missing daughter to every passenger and so far over 17,000 people have heard his story and helped share it on the internet. Mingqing lives in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province.

And FINALLY, his 24-year-long wait and the relentless search came to a happy end, when their daughter named Kang Ying, reached out to Mingqing after looking at the news reports online. On 1st April, a DNA test confirmed that she was their missing daughter.    

Reportedly, Kang Ying was raised by adoptive parents in a town 12 miles away. She contacted Mingqing after she found out that she shares some strange traits with the missing child. For instance, she had a small scar on her forehead and has a tendency to get nauseous whenever she cried.

Wang Mingqing told a newspaper, “I can't tell you how much hope, disappointment, and despair we have gone through these past 24 years. Now we can finally meet again.”

According to the police, on April 3rd, his daughter flew to Chengdu to meet him.

It is stories like these and people like Mingqing, who re-instill our faith in miracles and hope.
