Imam al-Bukhari spent more than 16 years collecting Hadiths and traveling throughout the Muslim world in search of authentic narrations. He visited major centers of Islamic knowledge and carefully examined narrators and chains of transmission (Isnad) before accepting any narration into his collection.
His methodology was extremely strict and precise. He accepted only those narrations transmitted by trustworthy narrators with authentic and uninterrupted chains that were fully consistent with established Islamic teachings.
