  1. The wedding season is back and like an old book, we know the full story of how it will go down for all of us. We will get drunk, dance our hearts out, eat like a maniac and be extremely excited because chances are that one of our friends, or our cousins are taking the plunge this year. So, while you decide what you have to wear to catch the eye of the prettiest girl at the wedding, here are 10 Punjabi songs you can add to the list of songs you have to dance to at your BFF's wedding this time. 1. Lehenga Probably one of the most played songs this wedding season and rightly so! Every girl is dancing to it, so in case you are in the 'team bride', this can be your jam. 2. Gur Naalo Ishq Mitha Trust Honey Singh to add his groove to any old number. This classic song has been remixed by the Yo!Yo! king himself and you can obviously not avoid performing to it with the whole crew. 3. Morni Banke Get everyone on the dance floor because this one is the perfect crowd puller for friends from both the sides. 4. Taarefan Whether it is the boys asking the girls, or the bride tribe grooving to it, this track is a great song to be added to the performance chart. 5. Veer Ji Vyon Is there any other number which sums up how one feels when your best friend gets married? Perfect song to dance on the 'baraat'. 6. Tommy You can either choreograph it or do an impromptu gig dancing to this fun song. 7. Panjeba Another song for the bride tribe which is not about your BFF being a coy bride, but one 'bindaas' babe ready to tie the knot as her friends dance to this song. 8. Sauda Khara Khara No wedding is complete without a Sukhbir number where the crowd chants 'Oho' while the DJ turns down the volume. This classic number is back in time for the entire friend crew looking for a group dancing number. 9. Mithi Mithi Perfect song for the bros to challenge the 'Banno' ki 'sahelis' to a dance off on this number. 10. Wonderland This is a three-year-old track but nothing tells a girl that your bro loves her more than this absolutely crazy dance number. View the full article
  2. A Sikh-American organisation in Washington has pledged to support plantation of 100 forests in Punjab and other parts of India to combat climate change. According to Hindustan Times, members of the organisation said during its 7th Gala that the initiative is an effort to fight climate change by planting Guru Nanak Sacred forests in Punjab and other parts of India. © Twitter The statement issued by the organisation said, “The planting of 100 Guru Nanak Sacred forests will also help EcoSikh reach its target of planting one million trees in honour of Guru Nanak's 550th birth-anniversary.” The EcoSikh has already planted around 120 mini-forests of 550 trees in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujrat, Delhi, Jammu and Chandigarh. Shubhednu Sharma from Afforestt said, “This will restore nature's imbalance in Punjab and other parts of India. The world is facing a pollution crisis and it is affecting the health of our children. Planting a forest is the best investment for our collective future.” © Twitter EcoSikh's global president Rajwant Singh said, “We feel that planting a forest in our backyard, schools, colleges, and gurdwaras can go a long way to purify our surroundings and make a dent in carbon sequestering”. Keeping in mind that climate change is the biggest threat the world is facing right now and the organisation's efforts are worth appreciating. View the full article
  3. Pregnancy is not a child's play and no one else can relate to the struggles and pain that a woman goes through while giving birth. But, that was a few hours ago. Now, there are two men who can also imagine how painful the entire process is (without actually giving birth to a child) - Akshay Kumar and Diljit Dosanjh. Akshay and Diljit are currently busy promoting their upcoming film Good Newwz which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kiara Advani among others. The film talks about two couples - Mr. and Mrs. Batra (Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh-Kiara Advani), who get entangled in a bizarre situation, when the hospital they go to for IVF procedure confuses their names and ends up exchanging the sperms. © Dharma Productions As part of the promotion, Akshay and Diljit recently tried the labour pain test to understand and experience the kind of pain a woman goes through while delivering a baby. Akshay shared the video on social media and wrote, "Diljit Dosanjh and me experience labour pain : Good Newwz. A small step to understand what mothers go through by @diljitdosanjh & me. Dil se - RESPECT to all the mummies out there, delivering #GoodNewwz is harder than anyone can imagine!" View this post on Instagram A small step to understand what mothers go through by @diljitdosanjh & me. Dil se - RESPECT to all the mummies out there, delivering #GoodNewwz is harder than anyone can imagine!♥ï¸ @dharmamovies A post shared by Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) on Dec 13, 2019 at 10:09pm PST Honestly, watching the two scream in pain is scary and kind of brave on their part. Directed by Raj Mehta, Good Newwz is expected to release on December 27. View the full article
  4. Let's face it - your beard is an asset that helps you garner a lot of attention, right? Well, if that's the case, you should appreciate your beard because it can just do more than that. We have time and again spoken about ways you can grow a beard but there are several other reasons why you should not shave. Now that winter is here, your beard will be more than just an asset. If you didn't know it already, we can tell you that growing a beard has been linked to many health benefits as well. All you need to do is to take care of your beard this season and let it do the rest. Check out these solid health benefits you can attain with your hair follicles! 1. Sun Protection According to a study published by Oxford University, it is said that your facial hair acts as a barrier and protects your skin from UV radiation. The beard is a topmost layer in your skin that stops the rays from reaching the dermis which means no sunburn for you. If you have a long beard, you have enough protection. However, you should still continue using sunscreen when you step out. © Instagram,Ranveer singh 2. Keeps You Warm While the whole world is busy hoarding jackets and scarves, all you need is your beard, a warmer for winters. Studies have shown that a beard can keep you warm. When the cold weather hits, the hair tends to adjust with it and traps the heat that is closer to your skin. Your beard is not just protection but also a wind barrier when it is too chilly outside. © Istock 3. Retains Skin's Moisture Even though it is winter you still need moisturising. But for someone who has a beard, the frequency is less. The beard helps trap the oil and saves your skin from stripping completely. When it comes to applying creams, avoid using thick ones with your beard. You can also get your hands on beard oil or conditioner to keep your beard hydrated! © Istock 4. Beard Reduces Skin Infections Shaving constantly is one of the biggest culprits of ingrown hair, razor burns etc. With a beard, you don't have to fret much. A beard tends to add a protective layer to your skin that can save you from the ugly wrath of these things. Besides that, it also controls pollen grains and other infectious particles to reach your skin. © Istock View the full article
  5. Let's admit that almost everyone has or had one teacher they were biased towards and always looked up to. That teacher was the coolest human being they ever came across. However, that coolness was never related to Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics. Honestly, I can never imagine a Maths or Physics teacher without a grumpy face. They always looked angry or upset wth something or someone. But, Professor David Wright is different and way cooler than people half his age. At 71, this man is jumping on pogo sticks, running around his classroom, making ice-cream for his class, playing with makeshift skate boards and more, just to make his students enjoy the class instead of being bored from all the lectures. Y'all need to see this video collage of all the crazy things my Physics Professor did this semesterð. The student wrote, "Y'all need to see this video collage of all the crazy things my Physics Professor did this semester. He's in his 70s and is still doing all of this for us." 6. When it comes to cooking, we all love to experiment. After all, an extra packet of masala in Maggi or an extra spoonful of nutella on waffles don't hurt anyone. But, just like too many cooks spoil the broth, too much creativity with food is dangerous for health and, in some cases, disgusting. While people are still not done fighting over pineapple on pizza, others have gone on to commit major crimes by making food combinations that will make you throw up, without even trying it. One such recipe is this 'santra Maggi' or Maggi with oranges that has left the people on internet fuming with anger. For the first time, a 'comfort food' is making people uncomfortable. Just saw this on a friend's IG story bruh what are y'all smoking pic.twitter.com/v63FEneIgI — PotatHOE (@potathoe69) December 11, 2019 This bizarre food combination was shared on Twitter with the caption "Just saw this on a friend's IG story bruh what are y'all smoking." 7. Bollywood produces a truck load of movies every year out of which only some come across as mass-entertainers for various reasons. However, some movies also have climax sequences so confusing that the audience is flummoxed to no end. Here is a list of five such movies which were brilliantly filmed but had endings which left the viewers perplexed. 1. Talaash The movie had grief as its main theme. Wonderfully directed by Reema Kagti, it revolves around Aamir's character, Surjan trying to deal with the loss of his eight years old son and solving a case with the help of Rosie, who turns out to be a ghost eventually. The film explores the angle that maybe how sometimes, in order to make peace with life, we tend to believe in the unnatural. The movie ends with Surjan finding a note from his dead son which was not understood properly by many viewers. 2. Karthik Calling Karthik This psychological thriller, starring Farhan Akhtar in the titular role, deals with the problem of speaking to a stranger who is basically himself only, and is guided by this phone call on how to deal with his life. It is revealed that he suffers from schizophrenia and has been imagining a fake 'brother' of his own since he was a kid. The ending unfolds well but left the audience with a lot of questions as well. 3. Roy Even with a good star cast, this movie received a lot of flak for being weak in several parts of the plot. The idea of two stories running simultaneously in the movie was okay but the execution was not that great, especially towards the end where in Kabir's movie (Arjun Rampal), his characters (Ranbir and Jacqueline) reunite and he reunites with Ayesha( played by Jacqueline again). Yeah, confusing. 4. Lootera One of the most poignant movies of all times, this complicated love story is borrowed from the Last Leaf by O.Henry. Skipping to the part that the masses didn't really connect with was the part where the imagery and the metaphorical use of the 'last leaf' comes into play. As the last leaf falls, the curtains on the love and the life of Ranveer Singh's character is also drawn. 5. No Smoking This psychological thriller is based on a Stephen King's novel which explains the complexity of the plot. It follows the story of a chain smoker who takes up the challenge to quit smoking and check in to a rehab but gets caught in the web of Baba Bengali who guarantees to make the smoker quit. The end where K's (John Abraham) soul returns to his body and he wakes up to find two fingers missing confused the masses to no end. View the full article
  8. Amidst all the disturbing news in the country, here's a charming video of an elderly man dancing to the song 'Ghar aya mera pardesi' that will melt your heart and make you smile. The old man is showcasing his killer dance moves from a song of the 1951 film Awaara in the video. The film starred Rishi Kapoor and Nargis in the lead roles and was one of the chartbusters at that time. The video recently surfaced on the internet and is a two-minute clip that was shared by a user named Harsh Goenka on Twitter along with a caption which read, “You don't stop dancing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop dancing. Look at chacha jaan." You don't stop dancing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop dancing. Look at chacha jaan! pic.twitter.com/DkDkyxEZFG — Harsh Goenka (@hvgoenka) December 13, 2019 The video is a reminder to all of us that age is just a number and even if we grow old we shouldn't stop having fun. Never let the child inside you die down even if you're growing old. Here's what the people have to say about the heartwarming performance of the charming old man. He is dancing through his eyes. ððð — khoob bhalo (@vikasmishra436) December 14, 2019 Such a rockstar !!!! — Maj Divya (@ThinkDivya) December 13, 2019 So true, age is just a number. 9. Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor is one of the better-dressed men in Bollywood. So, the fact that the man belongs to a family full of people who are the most impeccably dressed celebrities in Bollywood, helps. © Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor/ Instagram For the uninitiated, Harsh Varrdhan has a rather impressive sneaker collection. Take a look: © Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor/ Instagram This post on the gram only proves that Harsh Varrdhan is a fond collector of hype-beasty kicks. Recently, another post on his Gram flaunted one of his recent finds. In the picture, Harsh Varrdhan is trying to fetch something from the vending machine in his new kicks, take a look: © Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor/ Instagram He's wearing the Rimowa Air Yeezy in tan by Nike. Here's a close look at the silhouette: © Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor/ Instagram It almost looks like a huge band-aid is covering his sneakers to prevent dirt to get inside the nooks and crannies of the sneaker. Or worse, the sneaker is being held together by the band-aid. Either way, it's a really cool silhouette. But this is no surprise, considering he's even beat Anand Ahuja with his style game. So, it's always a delight to see the killer kicks he pairs with his outfits. View the full article
  10. The most iconic show to hit our screens ended with a lot of disappointment this year. Yes, I am talking about Game of Thrones, and its season 8, which left us in a state of anger and confusion. So much so, that fans leveraged petitions for the season to be re-made, while they called out the writers David Benioff and DB Weiss for actually killing major character arcs ordinarily, towards the end and writing off powerful women characters, without giving their characters due justice or proper closure. © HBO Now Peter Dinklage, also known as Tyrion Lannister in the show, has come forward and spoken about how Daenerys' actual fate was always hinted to its audience from the beginning and we should have actually picked up on those 'signposts'. The character of Daenerys Targaryen goes from absolute naivety to a woman unleashing her fury on the world, ultimately ending with her demise. The slow twist of the dark turn of character simply put Benioff and Wiess in a lot of controversy for showing women characters poorly in the show. In an interview with The New Yorker, 50-year-old Dinklage claims that he understands that people loved Danny's character played by Emilia Clarke, but also said since the beginning, the show's plot line always hinted at where Daenerys' character was eventually heading. In the interview he stated: "Well, everybody's always going to have an opinion, and that means an ownership. It's like breaking up with somebody. They get upset. I can't speak for everybody, but my feeling is they didn't want it to end, so a lot of people got angry. I feel like what Dave and Dan did was extraordinary. This happens. Monsters are created. And you don't see it coming. We vote them into office. You look the other way. So for everybody to get upset because they loved a character so much and they had so much faith in that person there were signposts along the way for that character." © HBO He also added the fact that Daenerys transformation from a 'righteous leader', to a 'powerful autocrat' was happening all along and everyone should have noticed the transition. "It added up to something. There are people who've named their children Khaleesi. You've just got to maybe wait till the series finale before you get that tattoo or name your golden retriever Daenerys! I can't help you! I'm sorry. She went mad. She was driven to that, and she's a victim as well in terms of how she was treated. She went through it, and she came out angry, as a lot of us do," he added further to the interview. © HBO Well, he is right about naming your dogs and babies on an impulse, when a TV show character is still being built. A lot of people named their girls and their dogs Khaleesi and well, Khaleesi met her unfortunate fate. Well, obviously this isn't mirroring the fate of people and dogs who're named the same but maybe having a bit of patience to see how the character unravels can help you naming your loved ones better. Although, Khaleesi aka Daenerys was a fearless ruler, her character arc did take an unfortunate turn towards the end. View the full article

  12. DISCLAIMER: Don't get fooled by the headline. We are in no way endorsing smoking to our valuable readers. That said, how can you deny the easy connection you tapped on every time you got the chance to share a smoke with your manager? Can you recall the easy flow of conversation the two of you unlocked, the way your responses became unguarded and you ended up discovering so much about your manager - the person, and not the boss? © Hotstar The realisation is almost unsettling. It reminds us there is so much that people don't let on in a professional setting and all it takes, is moving away from the walls that bind you, and tag you by your title and job profile. No matter how rare the occasion may have been, you really cannot negate the fact that (in most cases) the personal side of your boss isn't as detestable as the boss you report to at work. Hain na? Well, we hope so. But even if you haven't been blessed with such good luck in your current organisation, you might still want to sneak up on your boss to squeeze in a sutta break with him every chance you get and here's why. © Yash Raj Films According to the findings of a research conducted by the National Bureau of Economic Research, men have a greater chance than women of getting a raise and promotion when they share a smoke with their male managers. Though the same may not work in your favour if your manager happens to be a woman. Sucks, we know. Given how the infamous concept of 'Old Boys' Club' functions, most men tend to cash-in on it by sharing a smoke (or rather a light, informal interaction that follows those few drags) with their boss. The underlying logic at work here is that managers tend to favour fellow male proteges who are similar to them. © Hotstar If smoking a cigarette (or rather going on a smoke break) with your boss can change your life to that extent and offer you better prospects at work in terms of making that big jump with ease, then, of course, we will share those insights with you. However, let's be clear that we are in no way recommending you start smoking just to go on smoke-breaks with your boss and get that next promotion quickly. Of course, a lot depends on your personal calibre and achievements, and many of us really do depend on just that to help us climb up the ladder. © Yash Raj Films Besides, it is also most definitely true that this 'hack' wouldn't work on many managers who only promote people who deserve it, with or without the smoke breaks. But then again, this is just that - a hack to get that promotion faster. And just like it is the case with every 'hack' out there, it may or may not work for you. But if there is a chance that it might work in your favour, it is definitely worth a try, isn't it? We thought this was worth sharing with you guys, but feel free to let us know your thoughts on this. View the full article
  13. Siddhant Chaturvedi has been on a roll ever since Gully Boy hit the theatres and it seems there's no stopping the man. And rightly so. If you are sharing the screen with Ranveer Singh, and still manage to outshine him, you know you are meant for greatness. © Instagram/siddhantchaturvedi In spite of his impeccable sense of style, Siddhant is often considered to be a fashion renegade - one who does not really care about fashion and style. However, people often do not realise that Siddhant, time and again, has aced athleisure and normcore, in a rather unique manner, something that most Bollywood biggies rarely manage to. © Instagram/siddhantchaturvedi When you have a personality as colourful as Siddhant's you don't need really outlandish clothes and jaw-droppingly expensive stuff to look good and be a favourite among people. As Iris Apfel, the American fashion mogul said, style, above everything else, is about attitude. © Viral Bhayani Siddhant breaking into an impromptu dance routine at the Mumbai airport just goes on to show how zany and colourful a man he really is. And believe it or not, it seems he was dressed just right for the moment, in one of this year's best, laidback casual. © Viral Bhayani Siddhant was wearing a pair of black and white sneakers from Skechers called the Men's D'Lites. Made primarily using trubuck leather and meshed fabric, the sneakers actually are focussed more towards running and athletics, rather than lifestyle usage. © Skechers As for the rest of the outfit, Siddhant is wearing a dual-toned tracksuit, again all from Skechers, and a pair of sunglasses, which, because of their graduated shading, look rather laidback, thus completing the laidback, dressed-down appeal that Siddhant seems to be going for. © Viral Bhayani Siddhant is a testament to the fact that you really don't need to spend a ton of money to look good. Just playing to your strengths, and sticking to the basics is more than enough to turn heads. Well done, Siddhant. View the full article
  14. If there is one thing that Shahid Kapoor doesn't shy away from splurging on, it's definitely sneakers. Being a true sneakerhead, Shahid Kapoor loves to invest in some rad high-quality kicks. Now that he's taken a brief break post the success of his film, Kabir Singh, Shahid is really enjoying his time with his family. And while at it, he's also working some really cool outfits. Case in point, his recent airport look, take a look here: © Viral Bhayani He's seen wearing a parachute jumpsuit with multiple zippers that are even on his joggers. 15. You know how when you stink so much that you just HAVE to spray on an entire bottle of deodorant on yourself? And, then you actually get in trouble for spraying so much deodorant that even the police gets involved? No? Well, one unlucky kid had to go through all of that. Basically, in Florida, a bunch of students on a school bus complained about a 'noxious' smell, and it was so bad that even the local fire department and emergency medical services came to inspect the 'hazardous material'. Any guess on what it was? Axe body spray, of course! To find the culprit behind the weird smell, Parrish Fire District Division Chief Mike Williamson had to interview all the thirty students that were on board the bus, and well, it didn't take long to find out the one kid smelling like a person who drowned in a tank of body spray. Talking to TODAY, he said, "Once I got down the line, I was able to determine it. Before I could even tell (one student) what I was looking for, I made a motion like I was spraying, and he handed me an empty bottle of the black Axe Body Spray. I could smell it all over him." © Parrish Fire Rescue What's hilarious is that the body spray was so obnoxious that about a third of the students were complaining about respiratory distress. Thankfully, none of them actually needed to go to the hospital. The chief further added, "We had heard reports from other community members that it's somehow a thing with kids spraying it all over each other to smell nice or prank each other. They must have watched a lot of episodes of 'Band of Brothers' because they would not say who did it." Well, at least they had each other's backs and that's what matters. Moral of the story: Spray on deodorant like a normal person, not a rotten fish. View the full article
  16. Arguably one of the most destructive openers in international cricket, Rohit Sharma has the ability to put some of the best bowlers in the sport to shame. His wide array of strokes often sees him cutting a sorry figure for the opposition bowling unit while giving Team India a flying start at the top. His artistry with the willow was recently in full display as India coasted to a 67-run triumph over West Indies in the 3rd Twenty20 International (T20I) at the Wankhede stadium. The right-hander slammed a breathtaking 34-ball 71 including six fours and five sixes to help India post an imposing total of 240 runs. Here he is...𤩠The new #LaLiga Brand Ambassador in India, Rohit Sharma! ð®ð³ðâ½â¨ Welcome, @ImRo45! ð¤ð pic.twitter.com/ecMsRb9rzS — LaLiga (@LaLigaEN) December 12, 2019 Following his blitzkrieg, which allowed India to secure a 2-1 series win, Rohit, once again, thronged social media after he was appointed by La Liga as their brand ambassador from India. The Mumbai cricketer has become the first individual from the country to be appointed as the ambassador of the popular Spanish football league. Hola India/España, as you guys know, football has always held a special place in my heart so this association is so special to me. And to be named the ambassador for the La Liga is so humbling. So excited for this partnership @LaLigaEN pic.twitter.com/prZFFSeHdV — Rohit Sharma (@ImRo45) December 12, 2019 An ardent Real Madrid fan, the 'Hitman' revealed that football has always held a special place in his heart and he feels special by La Liga's gesture to appoint him as their brand ambassador. "Hola India/España, as you guys know, football has always held a special place in my heart so this association is so special to me. And to be named the ambassador for the La Liga is so humbling. So excited for this partnership @LaLigaEN," he wrote on Twitter. During the La Liga event in Mumbai, Rohit was asked to reveal the best footballer in the Indian cricket team. "I think MS Dhoni is the best footballer in our team," Rohit was quoted saying by India Today. The opening batsman also revealed that he prefers playing in a midfield role in warm-up football matches between Indian players. © Twitter "The captain decides who plays where. I love playing as a midfielder during warm-up matches because that's the most challenging spot. Football is played as a warm-up because it brings us together as a team makes our body active," Rohit added. Those who know Dhoni or perhaps have seen his biopic would know that football is nothing new to the former Indian captain. For someone who had started out as a goalkeeper in his school football team, Dhoni was turned into a wicket-keeper by his childhood coach after their cricket team's main keeper had pulled out due to exams. But it becomes all the more precious when we get to behold women who are making it to the top because we honestly don't see that as often as we'd like. However, what's most interesting about her debut is that she is ranked ahead of the Queen of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II. Roshni Nadar Malhotra © ForbesWomen Ranked #54 on the list, the CEO of HCL Corporation is the second Indian on the list. That's not all, according to an IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List (2019), Roshni Nadar also happens to be the richest woman in India. A known philanthropist, Roshni makes all the strategic decisions for the $8.9 billion Indian tech giant. 3. 18. KL Rahul usually has his style game on point. The cricketer has often been spotted in some really zany sneakers and athleisure outfits. Moreover, he is known to have a slightly eccentric sense of style, considering how, he once destroyed a pair of sneakers that cost Rs 50,000, just in a bid to personalise it. © MensXP As far as sneakers are concerned, KL Rahul knows his Jordan 12s from his 14s - meaning he knows what he is doing, and can actually sit you down and have a proper discussion on why investing in legacy sneakers is the next big thing for Millenials(https://www.mensxp.com/fashion/shoes/71014-5-most-expensive-sneakers-ever-sold-that-make-great-investments.html). © Viral Bhayani Recently, he was spotted in one of the zaniest pairs of sneakers we have seen in a long time. In fact, it seems that the guy who designed the Rubik's cube, Erno Rubik, designed his latest sneakers. And trust us, they are as confusing as the toy. © Viral Bhayani But first, let's take a look at that sweet Supreme aluminium suitcase that he's carrying. Like all Supreme pieces, they are a limited edition piece, which came as a collaboration between Supreme and the German designer Tomas Maier. © Tomas Maier The suitcase used to retail for just shy of $500 or Rs 35,000. However, just like most hyped up Supreme pieces that go out of stock as soon as they hit the stores, these Tomas Maier X Supreme suitcases can be found retailing for roughly double the price on websites like Lyst & eBay. © Viral Bhayani The aluminium-magnesium alloy suitcase isn't actually that expensive when you consider how Supreme banks on hype and virality to sell its stuff. Good luck though, finding a brand new piece though, if you were thinking of buying one. © Viral Bhayani Coming to the sneakers, KL Rahul is seen wearing the Puma X Rubik's RS-X Cubes. These sneakers retail for Rs 9,999 at their stores. Considering how often we have seen cricketers wear something that costs more than the rent of a villa in Goa, this is actually not that expensive. © Viral Bhayani The sneakers are actually quite cool and quirky, thanks to their bold colour block, and chunky overlays. © Puma © Viral Bhayani With a sneaker that colourful and chunky, no wonder he managed to turn the paparazzi's attention, in spite of the rather simplistic, Indian cricket team's tracksuit. A nice way to dress for the airport, by the way. View the full article
  19. The world of cricket is no stranger to malpractices. Over the years, the gentleman's game has been marred with incidents of match and spot-fixing by cricketers. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has also established its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) which continues to work towards eradicating the corrupt practices from cricket. But, there seems to be no end to foul play. Almost a decade after Pakistan's infamous spot-fixing scandal, cricket has, once again, been marred with suspicious activities this year. The Karnataka Premier League (KPL), earlier this year, came under scanner for potential venality after two cricketers, including former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicket-keeper CM Gautam, were arrested for corruption with more names expected to surface amid the ongoing probe. After the unravelling of the KPL betting scandal, another T20 league has caught everyone's attention for an alleged 'spot-fixing activity'. The ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has found itself in the news for all the wrong reasons. Krishmar Santokie's extremely suspicious bowling during a recent match has raised eyebrows with a potential fixing probe on cards. While his wide was extremely erratic, the no-ball, in particular, had a striking resemblance to that of Mohammad Amir's infamous delivery against England in 2010. And this a wide, bowled just a couple of balls before that. pic.twitter.com/SItM4IG30x — Nikhil Naz (@NikhilNaz) December 11, 2019 While the contentious deliveries had the spectators inside the stadium in disbelief, the video of Santokie conceding extras in such obvious fashion had everyone suspecting foul play on social media. Amid calls of a potential spot-fixing charge, Sylhet Thunders Team Director Tanjil Chowdhury has revealed that they have requested the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to investigate the matter. “The no-ball that he bowled is suspicious. He (Santokie) is not yet called by the BCB but I have lodged my complaint. I verbally requested CEO and Morshed (BCB anti-corruption head) to investigate the matter (no ball), Chowdhury was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. “We (BCB director) don't have anything to do with the playing XI. It is up to the management and the coach. I asked the sponsors whether they interfered in the playing XI and they are refusing to say anything. Now we have to talk with the team management and know whether anyone influenced them to play Santokie because it seems he is associated with spot-fixing,” he added. While the BCB is yet to comment or issue a statement on the allegations, cricket fans on social media were pretty convinced of spot-fixing in the ongoing season of the BPL. 20. With the Winter season finally setting in and the clear lack of moisture in the air, our lips and skin tend to get rather dry and flaky easily. While you can easily use a moisturizer for your skin, chapped lips, however, can be tricky to deal with. Chapped lips are otherwise known as cheilitis. The lip area is one of the most sensitive areas on your body, and does not have the same oil concentration of oil glands that act as a barrier to dryness. On top of that, lips are exposed to factors like licking throughout the day (we're all guilty of it), and cold weather. © Getty Images So, with the drop in the temperature, the lips too start to become cracked and flaky. Another reason why you may have chapped lips could be if you have extremely sensitive skin prone to sun damage. And, while a lip emollient once in a while might help soothe your lips temporarily, it's tough to find a permanent solution for this. There are however triggers for chapped lips that you can fix: 1. Regularly wearing a lip balm that has ingredients like occlusive agents, such as lanolin in Aquaphor, white petrolatum in Vaseline, or beeswax, will help protect your lips. © Getty Images 2. But using a good emollient better suited for your skin isn't enough. You also need to be consistent with the product, so apply it twice a day, at least, every day for a month. This way the product will be more effective on the lips. © Getty Images 3. Thirdly, for flaky skin that you can't get rid of post consistent hydration, use a gentle scrub. A scrub is going to rid you of all the dry flakes. However, it's important to moisturize your skin right after that to protect the skin underneath. View the full article
  21. Earlier this Tuesday, the 2019 Nobel Prize for Economics went to the trio of Dr Abhijit Banerjee, Dr Esther Duflo and Dr Michael Kremer for their 'experimental approach to alleviating world poverty'. What caught the attention of thousands of Indians, however, was the choice of clothing that Duflo and Banerjee - who have been married since 2015 - wore to the award ceremony. © Reuters Banerjee, who is currently the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at MIT, wore a beige panjabi that he paired with a white gold-bordered dhoti and closed neck black vest, as a nod to his Bengali roots. © Reuters Duflo, meanwhile, went the whole nine-yards in a blue-green silk saree with a red blouse - making her the first person to ever accept the prestigious prize wearing one. Joined by their colleague Dr. Kremer, the trio were awarded for spending several decades on groundbreaking work focused on some of the most poor and disadvantaged populations in the world. 22. The Indian and West Indies cricket teams were in the Kerala capital of Thiruvananthapuram to play the second of three T20I matches on Sunday which turned out to be a stunner especially with the way the visitors played. And while none of the Indian cricketers other than Shivam Dube made a formidable contribution to the winning efforts of the Men in Blue, Kieron Pollard's men did everything by the book and picked a dominating win against the hosts. Having said that, one of the biggest disappointments for the local crowd present at the stadium was the absence of Sanju Samson from the Playing XI yet again despite cheering him on over his appearance on the field ahead of the match. Cheers from the crowd in Thiruvananthapuram reserved for their very own @IamSanjuSamson ðð #TeamIndia #INDvWI @Paytm pic.twitter.com/8zJSQZ2LeR — BCCI (@BCCI) December 8, 2019 The entire Playing XI remained the same as the first T20I and the fact that the roster helped them win a difficult game in Hyderabad might have played a key role in retaining the entire squad. However, two days after the match, Thiruvananthapura MP, Shashi Tharoor tweeted his disappointment in not watching Samson play the game in front of his home crowd. Most of us hoped the Indian team would have made the gesture of resting a player to allow @IamSanjuSamson to play in front of his home crowd. We would have inspired him to great feats of derring-do! https://t.co/GD674xul95 — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) December 10, 2019 “Most of us hoped the Indian team would have made the gesture of resting a player to allow @IamSanjuSamson to play in front of his home crowd. We would have inspired him to great feats of derring-do,” he wrote. When Shikhar Dhawan went out with an injury and Samson made a return to the Indian cricket team after four years of waiting, it was believed that he would have got the opportunity to play a game. The fact that he did not make it beyond the bench has to be accepted by the fans of Indian cricket. It was the decision of the head coach and the captain of the team and they stood by it. For Tharoor to wish that the team would have “made the gesture” of making some other player sit out just so that Samson could play in front of the home crowd is not only impractical but also a big slap on the capabilities of the 25-year-old as a cricketer. When Samson plays, even he would want to play because he deserved to get that spot and not because the skipper wants to please the crowd. Tharoor's tweet led to some major backlash with the educated audience choosing merit over regional favouritism: Sanju Samson is a talented and promising youngster.. He will be in playing XI when his time comes.. He doesn't need "gestures" for his place in team.. Don't play your dirty politics in his name.. — Ekita (@LostByWaves) December 10, 2019 Cricket is played on merit n form not on local flavour! — Natarajan நàªà¤°à¤¾ àªà¤¨ (@NTanjore) December 10, 2019 Firstly Sanju Samson requires no charity from any one ... secondly the redundant INC mindset which says damn the meritorious..let's get "our " guy in . 24. Remember Apple's new Mac Pro machine? Yeah, the one which people started calling a "cheese grater". Well, in case you remember, it was estimated that a fully decked out version of the Mac Pro with all the bells and whistles will cost around $45,000, which is roughly around Rs 35 Lakh. Guess what? Apple started accepting pre-orders for the Mac Pro yesterday in the US and we finally know how much it'll cost to buy the most powerful Mac Pro. Turns out, it's more expensive than what was estimated earlier. © Apple If you head over to Apple's website and configure one with the most powerful pieces of hardware, then it'll add up $52,599. Yes, the most powerful Mac Pro costs over $50,000. That's just insane because it roughly translates to about Rs 38 lakh. The price tag makes it most expensive Mac ever. The base price of the Mac Pro starts at $5,999. That'll get you an entry-level machine with an octa-core Intel Xeon CPU, 32GB of RAM, a Radeon Pro 580X graphics, and 256GB of SSD. But if you keep adding on better components, like a 28-core 2.5GHz (turbo boost up to 4.4Ghz) Intel Xeon W that costs $7,000, the price naturally goes up. Top of the line GPU add-on, for instance, will add another $10,000 and so on. So you add all of that and the fully decked out Mac Pro will cost you $52,599. It's worth pointing out that the new Pro Display XDR isn't included in this price. That'll be an additional $5,999. © YouTube/ Marques Brownlee Well, you can't pre-order one in India just yet. Apple's website clearly tells you to check back later for availability details. But looking at the pricing in the US, we won't be surprised to see a super-premium price tag here too. We'll be back with India-specific details very soon, so stay tuned. Source: TheVerge View the full article
  25. Even though Huawei has been having a tough time selling smartphones because of the ban on US companies doing business with the Chinese company, it is still making smartphones that push the envelope. Huawei already launched the Mate 30 Pro recently, but the launch was only limited to China. The next smartphone to launch is the P30 Pro's successor that will come with new battery technology according to rumours. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla A tweet listed some details about the features on the P40 Pro and specification that are planned for the upcoming phone. The rumour may not be entirely accurate as the source is not Huawei but it does detail some interesting new technology it will be implementing. If the rumour is to believed, Huawei is looking to include a new graphene technology that will increase battery capacity drastically. The new graphene will also increase the battery speed while keeping it cooler than the widely used lithium-ion batteries. The Huawei P40 Pro is rumoured to come with a 5,500mAh graphene battery than can be fully charged in 45 minutes with a 50W charger. That's quite impressive considering the capacity of the battery and the speed at which it charges. Graphene battery technology is relatively new, however many companies are already working on it. Graphene batteries help in reducing the temperature of the battery and also increases its lifespan. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Of course, there is no guarantee whether the Huawei P40 Pro will use graphene batteries in the final version of the device. And we can only know for sure when the smartphone is made official. Other rumours have suggested flagship-level specifications for the Huawei P40 i.e. a 6.5-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and dual punch holes for the selfie camera. At the back, the P40 is expected to come with a Penta-camera setup that will use sensors by Leica. The main sensor is expected to be a 64-megapixel shooter while other sensors include a 20-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, a macro lens and ToF (time of flight) sensor. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla As of now, it looks like the P40 will launch sometime in the first quarter of 2020, however the ban on American companies doing business with Huawei has still not been resolved. If the ban is not resolved by the P40's launch, it means that like the Mate 30 Pro, the P40 may not come with Android and Google Play services and the launch may be limited to China only.
