  1. Huawei launched a new smartphone that defies everything we've known so far about smartphone cameras. At first, we didn't believe in the hype ourselves until we got to use the smartphone for ourselves. The P30 Pro can take pictures in almost every environment and can even take detailed images of the moon. The P30 pro is not only about offering great cameras, but it also features great design, awesome performance and impressive battery life. The P30 Pro may just be the perfect smartphone every company has been trying to make in the past decade. So, let's find out why the Huawei P30 Pro is probably the only smartphone you want to look at this year: Design & Display When it comes to the design of the smartphone the first thing you will notice is the gradient colours. We have seen the Chinese company breathe new life to smartphones with their Honor branded smartphones and the Mate 20 Pro, and it seems like the company is looking to continue that tradition. We got to use both the Aurora Blue and Breathing Crystal variants and they both looked absolutely stunning. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla When you look beyond the colours, the Huawei P30 Pro is not particularly a small device. It has a 6.47-inch display and has curved edges similar to the Mate 20 Pro. The edges on the back of the smartphone also have a curved profile giving it a much ergonomic feel that its predecessor. Overall, the design is impressive, however, the P30 Pro is quite prone to scratches on both sides. We would recommend you use the supplied cover to protect the phone from any damages you may incur overtime. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla When it comes to the display, the 6.47-inch FHD+ AMOLED display has a smaller notch than the Mate 20 Pro as it does not have the same sensors for facial recognition. Face unlock does work on the P30 Pro but it isn't as reliable as the Mate 20 Pro or the iPhone XS. The display is also used as a loudspeaker instead of having a traditional grille for audio output. You may find it weird at first, however, we got used to it in a matter of days. The AMOLED display quality is excellent where the colours are vibrant and have balanced contrasts. The sharpness is also quite impressive if you like to watch movies and play games. Having said that, we did find the hue on the display on the cooler side which could be annoying for some users. Software © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The smartphone is powered by Huawei's Kirin 980 chipset that is particularly fast and works in tandem with Huawei's EMUI. Having said that, EMUI is a quite bloaty skin that is particularly not clean. Even though we've not been fond of EMUI in the past, the P30 Pro comes with some cool AI features such as an AI video editor (similar to Google Photos), scene detection features for the camera app. It even comes with digital well-being features such as a downtime feature for applications. When you reach your limit for a particular app, the screen turns grey preventing you from doing what you were meant to stop. The P30 Pro also comes with another nifty feature i.e. a Digital Car Key. Basically, you can use the P30 Pro to use as a key for select Audi cars. You can even start the engine with your smartphone. Alas, we did not get to test this feature, however, you can read up more literature about this on Audi and Huawei's website Camera © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The star attraction of the Huawei P30 Pro is its impressive camera setup. It's touted to have incredible digital photography capabilities and for good reason. The array on the back has a 40MP 27mm f/1.6 wide-angle main sensor, a 20MP ultra wide-angle 16mm f/2.2 and an 8MP 5x optical periscope zoom lens, plus a ToF lens. The zoom lens on the P30 Pro is one of the most impressive sensors we've seen as it can do image stabilisation even when zoomed in well over 10x. The P30 Pro uses OIS + EIS at the same time to achieve this feat. Of course, the quality does drop down a bit when you exceed the zooming parameters, however, it is still the best we've ever seen on a smartphone. We could even capture some very accurate and detailed shots of the moon with 50x zoom. You can see the clarity in the photo samples below. Huawei has partnered with Leica to make some of the most impressive we've ever seen. The new sensors are called SuperSpectrum sensors that use RYYB instead of the traditional RGB. Yellow has been used in place of green as it can take in both red and green lights. The sensor is capable of capturing more information and clearer images. Having said that, not everything is peachy here as when you take images of flora, there is considerable saturation which is entirely accurate when it comes to real colours. The Huawei P30 Pro is also incredible at taking low-light images, especially in the night. The light sensitivity ISO goes up to 400,000 which is completely unheard of on a smartphone. You can take some incredible night shots using the Night Mode, which works similar to what you find on Google Pixel 3. It basically takes multiple frames at different levels of exposure and then combines them into a single image. The ToF sensor basically comes in handy when you want to capture the depth or take portrait images from your smartphone. It can read objects and gets a better idea of the subject in front of the camera. The ToF sensor records how long it takes for the light to hit the object in front of the smartphone. This resulted in some awesome portrait images, however, did not work as advertised in dark environments. P30 Pro Camera Samples Performance The Huawei P30 Pro is powered by the Kirin 980 chipset which is also the Chinese company's flagship processor. In terms of RAM, the smartphone comes with 8GB of RAM and a Mali-G76 MP10 GPU for gaming. We encountered no issues when it came to the smartphone's performance and gaming was a breeze as there were no noticeable frame rate drops. We managed to play PUBG in high settings but we enjoyed playing Fortnite more due to the smooth graphics. The P30 Pro also comes with a proprietary file transfer system which basically is faster in reading/write speeds than anything we've seen so far. In terms of benchmark tests, our review unit was able to achieve a score a respectable 3292 in the single-core test while it scored 9657 in the multi-core test. Battery Life © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The P30 Pro has a 4,200 mAh battery and we managed to get 8-9 hours of screen-on time. The smartphone supports 40W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Much like the Mate 20 Pro, you can even turn on the reverse wireless charging feature to charge other devices such as the new AirPods or the Galaxy Buds. The battery life on the P30 Pro is probably one of the best we've seen on an Android smartphone. The P30 Pro easily lasted more than 17 hours on a single charge and our usage included heavy gaming, GPS navigation, texting, internet browsing and even reverse wireless charging at times. The Final Say As smartphones get increasingly saturated, there are only a few fields left where it can be improved upon. Companies keep trying to improve mobile photography or performance or battery life but often sacrifice at least one of these key features. Having said that, the P30 Pro offers all of these features and do them well. The Huawei P30 Pro does offer the best camera on a smartphone right now and is genuinely a jack of all trades. In some cases, it's even a master of one such as low-light photography. When it comes to competition, only the Pixel 3 comes into mind that can stand up to the P30 Pro when it comes it mobile photography. For Rs 71,9990; you get the latest tech with awesome performance and extraordinary cameras.
  2. Due to the popularization of the fitness industry, thousands of fitness coaches are available right now and their demand is on the peak. Right from the 'not to be taken seriously' ones who teach you hacks to lose face fat and belly fat in 7 days to those who speak actual facts and back their practice with the latest evidence, you will find every type of trainer out there. © Unsplash The problem is that a lot of people fall easily for the quick hacks and sorcery-promising ones and do not really pay attention to the latter. That is unless they screw their happiness and waste their money on the quick fix ones and then go to the evidence-based practitioners. If you are looking to work with a professional for your fitness goals, here are a few qualities they should have: 1. Professionalism © Unsplash Like I mentioned, if you are looking to work with a professional, that is what they have to be. A professional. That means they should clearly communicate with the client what can be expected in the coaching, their timelines, what do they expect from the client, their coaching style, their communication channels and turnaround times. Along with that, what results the client can expect from the program and what are the things they would be required to do. 2. Ethical A coach who is trying to sell you a particular supplement or a fishy product under their sponsorship agenda or asks you to take certain drugs saying that you absolutely need it to get good results, are NOT the best lot to help you out. A coach should only 'suggest' supplements as it is not their role to make recommendations or ask you to buy things. They should suggest stating the benefits only and keep the decision-making power totally in your hands. Drugs, should not even come up in a conversation with your trainer. 3. Should Walk The Talk If your coach is obese, does not train regularly, does not eat well, seems like they themselves need a coach and are not the best person to be a coach to someone. By walk the talk, it does not mean they should be ripped and flash abs year round but should be what is considered fit and have a supporting lifestyle. If they don't, you will never be inspired to go an extra mile forward for them to get better or take them seriously in the first place. 4. Creates Plans Individualized For You © Unsplash If someone takes your money under the premise of coaching and ends up sending you some template files or cookie cutter programs, they are selling you templates and not coaching. Coaching, on the other hand, means that the coach in question takes information from you regarding your goals, your lifestyle, your current nutrition, training, sleep habits and then creates a plan suited for your lifestyle and goals. It is YOUR plan. Not the one that is a one-size-fits-all plan. 5. Transparency & Education A coach should not just tell you what to do and ask you to follow him blindly. A coach should be able to give you a satisfactory explanation as to 'why' a particular thing or a plan has been set for you and how it would benefit you. Along with that, the coach should equip you with the necessary information and education so that you can be independent after a few months to take charge of your own fitness. © Unsplash Yes, there still might be situations where you would still be with them. Be it a contest prep or a powerlifting meet or a sports event. But those are special instances or situations where someone keeping an eye on your progress and planning does help. But, if just staying in shape means you being with a coach and taking his coaching for a lifetime, that coach is making you a handicap and not helping you out in reality. 3. If you know a thing or two about K-Pop, then you'd probably be aware of the boy-band BTS. Well, their latest single, “Boy With Luv”, featuring Halsey has shattered the record for most YouTube views in 24 hours. That's right, the music video of the latest single from their new comeback album “Map Of The Soul: Persona”, racked over 78 million views within the first 24 hours of hitting YouTube. K-pop bands are clearly bringing more eyeballs to YouTube than most other videos these days. It's not T-Series or PewDiePie, but the hype's around K-pop now. via GIPHY BTS fans, who're collectively known as the ARMY, welcomed the new album and the music video with open arms and helped the boy-band pull off this epic feat. In case you're wondering, BTS broke the previous record set by none other than their K-pop rival Blackpink. Blackpink's “Kill This Love” title had the record under its name with 56.7 million views in 24 hours. Blackpink's track broke the record of Ariana Grande's “Thank U, Next” song which had 55.4 million views in its first 24 hours. However, the BTS ARMY really came through and managed to break their record by a huge margin. The “Boy With Luv” is the title track of BTS' new album and it parallels their 2014 song “Boy In Luv”. It's about love and finding joy in the smallest things in life. The song features Halsey, who apparently flew to South Korea to work on the video with the boys. The video, in case you're wondering, has over 124 million views and over 2.5 million comments as of today.

  5. Apple has officially cancelled its AirPower wireless charging mat, however, the demand for the product is still quite high. The charging mat was a bold wireless charger by Apple that would charge an iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch by placing them anywhere on the mat. Currently, devices have to be placed on wireless chargers with a specific orientation in order for it to work. However, many companies have figured out a way to charge multiple devices at once ever since AirPower was announced. Just because you can't get your hands on the AirPower doesn't mean you can't enjoy wireless charging for multiple devices. Here are the best AirPower alternatives you can buy in India right now: 1. Baseus Smart 2 In 1 Wireless Charge © Basues This 10-watt wireless charging mat can simultaneously charge two smartphones and an Apple Watch. It's available in all white and is compatible with any Qi-certified device. It comes with Overload protection which means you don't have to worry about overheating. 2. 6. Netflix is a Pandora's box which keeps spoiling us with a million options to choose from. This week, if you're in for a bit of a sci-fi kick just like us, then here are 5 show recommendations that will give you a pretty edgy visual experience: 1. The OA If you didn't watch the first season when it came out around 3 years ago, then please prepare to binge-watch that first. For everyone else who was left on a cliffhanger with that weird metaphysical ending and hated Prairie for not letting us in on her fate, the second season is finally here and is supposed to be crazy. 2. Love, Death + Robots This is probably the most trending sci-fi show that everyone is talking about even if they haven't really watched it. This animated series has episodes with major underlying themes in all of them and is supposed to be worth your time. 3. The Order Consider this as a borrowed Harry Potter concept twisted with the sci-fi world. The series follows a college student who discovers a whole new world of scary creatures and is surrounded by only werewolves for company. 4. Russian Doll Not that it's a new addition to Netflix. It's been there for a while, but if you still haven't watched it, save it for a weekend binge. It will make you cringe and boggle your head when you follow the lead character's life span cycle which is like a roller coaster stuck on repeat. If you want to question scientific multidimensional reality and also like a bit of existentialism like 'Waiting For Godot', then just watch this. 5. Travellers This show follows a bunch of travellers who send their consciousness back in time to actually save the society from a downfall. A secret time travel show with a heroic mission thrown in? sure, sounds like a good watch.
  7. Filmfare just held its 64th award ceremony and many deserving candidates took home the special lady with them. One of them was of course the talented Alia Bhatt, who deservingly won the best actress award for her role in the 2018 crime-drama, 'Raazi'. (c)Twitter Obviously Alia had a 'thank you' speech prepared just like all winners usually do, but her speech was a tad different and beautiful all at once, compared to other celebrities in Bollywood who shy away mentioning, well, love. In her speech Alia thanked her team behind 'Raazi', but a special mention was particularly saved for her now boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor and the girl wasn't afraid to let her feelings out for him in front of the entire fraternity. 8. Spritzing perfume might seem easy. You just have to pump the bottle twice, right? Well, sorry to disappoint you, but no. You must have wondered why the fume doesn't last long and you need to wear it again and again throughout the day to smell fresh. But, what if you don't have the time? Here's what you should keep in mind while spraying perfume on to ensure it stays on for a long time: 1. Rubbing Kills The Fume © purplle That faulty application habit—pumping scent on the wrists and then pressing them together and against your neck is what creates friction that heats up the skin, which produces natural enzymes that switch the course of the scent. This affects the notes that quickly die down, far from making them distinctive. Do it right: Spritz on your wrists, wait for the liquid to sink in and don't rub your wrists against anything after. 2. Keep It In A Storage Box At Room Temperature For storing your fume, you need to factor in the detail that liquid fragrances are extremely fragile to environmental changes. Perfumes get ruined in cold to hot temperatures that make them age faster. 3. Buy Them In Small Bottles © Getty Images Perfumes should be consumed quickly. Storing a half-used bottle unused perfume on your shelf allows oxygen to break down the scent's molecules, altering its composition. 4. Lathering With A Moisturizer Helps A few hacks can carry a scent a long way. Fragrances don't last long on dry skin. You could accompany body lotion with your fragrance. The fact of the matter is that where you wear the perfume also matters. Here are the best perfumes in that market that you should know about: 1. Bleu De Chanel © purplle With citrus and woody notes, this fragrance is deep, fresh, intense, and vibrant at the same time. 2. Prada L'Homme © purplle Debuted in 2016, it's dominantly floral with prominent hints of wood, amber, and spice notes to round things up. 3. Dior Sauvage © purplle With contrasting notes of bergamot and pepper, followed by floral, amber, vanilla, and cedar for a strong but well-rounded finish. It's one of the long lasting fumes 4.Ralph Lauren Polo © purplle A heavy scent: tobacco, pine, oakmoss, and patchouli make it a Winter staple and a fume that you could rely on. 5. Calvin Klein Obsession © purplle Packed in a sensual bottle, the perfume has notes of cinnamon, amber, sandalwood, myrrh, musk, and vanilla. Obsession leaves a lasting impression. 6. Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme © purplle With notes of yuzu fruit, lemon, blue lotus, and vetiver, it's like an uplifting traditional Japanese tea for a warm experience. 7. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male © Getty Images The soft tones of mint, lavender, and orange blossom, juxtaposed against vanilla, cinnamon, and amber. 8. Hermès Terre d'Hermès © purplle Terre D'Hermès has notes of orange, pepper, cedar, grapefruit, and vetiver. More importantly, Terre d'Hermès is the base for spinoff scent: Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver.
  9. India's aviation industry is among the fastest growing worldwide and airlines like IndiGo and Spicejet have been posting positive financials for quite some time. The industry relies heavily on dynamic fuel prices and there was a slight dip at the end of 2018, but the phase was temporary. The market is extremely price-sensitive and the low-cost model has worked out well. But the same can't be said for Jet Airways, India's oldest private airline. It celebrated 25 years of operations in 2018 but has barely managed to post a profit all this time. The airline is a full-service carrier and competes against Vistara and Air India. The industry has slim margins and full-service airlines are having a hard time going up against their low-cost competitors. Vistara is a Tata-Singapore Airlines joint venture and Air India has taxpayers, but who is looking after Jet? © Utkarsh Thakkar / @vimanspotter Jet Airways is reeling under a debt of over Rs 8,000 crore and has been defaulting on loan repayment and interest thereof. The crises started brewing from the second half of 2018 when it announced the need for an urgent bailout. In simple terms, the airline has no money left and has a huge debt to cover up. Adding to this, the current investors of the airline are not capable or keen on putting in more money. The airline has grounded a total of 60 aircraft out of 119 and is operating with half its fleet. This is because it doesn't technically own all the planes and leases them out from companies like GECAS. Since the airline has no cash, it cannot pay the lessors, and in turn, the lessors have grounded the equipment. © Utkarsh Thakkar / @vimanspotter Jet used to operate more than 4,000 flights every day but is now down to 900. Brand new aircrafts like the MAX 8 have been grounded for weeks and the airline has more than 200 of them on order. Boeing has also stopped delivering new aircrafts to the airline. This has lead to large scale cancellation of flights from important cities like New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. The airline says the cancellation is to improve operational efficiency and it is accommodating passengers on other flights or refunding them in full. But, last moment cancellations mean the passenger cannot book a flight on another airline for the same price. © Utkarsh Thakkar / @vimanspotter The current investors include the promoter Naresh Goyal, Etihad Airways (UAE), and shareholders. A bailout plan has been in the works for months and an SBI-led banking consortium has agreed to pump in more money in return of equity. This would mean that Goyal's 51 per cent share shall be diluted down and Etihad has the option of either putting in more money to maintain its stake or get diluted as well. Initially, Etihad was expected to provide a small lifeline to the airline but the company is now looking to back out and sell its share. This means a new investor needs to come and not only purchase Etihad's holding but also further pump money into the airline. Goyal is a majority stakeholder and has failed to bring in a new investor. There have been reports that the Tata Group was also analysing an investment option but the deal couldn't materialize. © Utkarsh Thakkar / @vimanspotter The government has asked state-run banks to rescue the private airline according to Reuters. Even if banks bailout Jet, the airline will be classified as a Non-Performing Asset (NPA) since it hasn't paid its dues for more than 90 days. This eventually will be a challenge for the banks who are desperately trying to fend off NPA's and improve their portfolio. Meanwhile, dissatisfied employees are protesting against the airline over pending salary. Pilots at the airline have threatened to go on strike starting April 1 if Goyal fails to come up with a resolution plan. DGCA has asked Jet Airways' pilots, cabin crew and ground staff who have reported any kind of stress to not report for duty. © Utkarsh Thakkar / @vimanspotter Taking advantage of the situation at Jet, rival airlines who are facing pilot shortage are asking employees to jump ship. Even the aircraft lessors have offered 50 of the airlines' new generation Boeing 737 aircraft to budget carrier SpiceJet. Following the MAX 8 grounding, Spicejet is trying to normalize its operations and is in need of aircrafts immediately. Jet needs a bailout immediately and the government cannot afford to have a Kingfisher-like landing in an election year. Experts have been blaming Goyal's reluctance of reducing his share and leaving executive control of the company. © Reuters Airfares are expected to rise in the coming months since Jet had a major load carrying capacity and the supply of seats has reduced. Spicejet is also in a pickle due to 13 grounded MAX 8 aircraft. We suggest that our readers take caution when booking a flight on Jet Airways till the airline is able to figure out a solid restructuring plan.
  10. Just when you though the Modi fever couldn't get any hotter, it struck a real-time high again. Right after the announcement for PM Narendra Modi's biopic directed by Omung Kumar, starring Vivek Oberoi, we have some more visual representation of his life following through. Eros Now has recently announced a web series on the Prime Minister and we're really curious to know how it'll shape up. © Twitter Coincidently (or not), the series will be out in April. The same time the General Elections are to commence, from April 11 to May 19, in which Modi's party-Bhartiya Janta Party-led alliance hopes to be re-elected for a second term. The web series called 'Modi', will showcase his entire life, from his childhood till he became the Prime Minister in 2014. "It will showcase the eventful life of the inspiring and influential leader,” said the makers of the film at a press release. The series will be produced by Benchmark Pictures and directed by Umesh Shukla from the 'Oh My God' fame. © Twitter The series is completely based on Modi's journey as a politician. It will start from when he was 12, till he joined BJP in 1987, after serving the Rashtriya Swayamseva Sangh (RSS), after which he got elected as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, till he became the Prime Minister of India in 2014. We're not sure what the series will highlight, in particular, but we are definitely curious to see how they have portrayed the Gujarat riots which broke out in 2002, shortly after he became the Chief Minister of the state. For now, all we know is that Faisal Khan, Ashish Sharma and Mahesh Thakur will play Modiji at different ages, in the series. Common man to becoming the PM, you know the leader, but do you know the man? #ErosNow announces the most-sought-after biopic #Modi on India's PM. Witness his life unfold in this original series releasing this April, directed by @umeshkshukla.@RidhimaLulla @PMOIndia @sethimanav pic.twitter.com/EI7JDWWOz3 — Eros Now (@ErosNow) 13 March 2019 "The series will highlight many incidents that made him devote his life to the service of the country and it's the ultimate gateway to witness the life of a self-made man,” states the press release. The writers Mihir Bhuta and Rashika Anand have focused on making the series solely about his struggle and not so much about the politics involved. While we're sure the Prime Minister's many achievements and accolades will be highlighted, we can't help but wonder if we will get to see the possible hiccups in his government in the series. © Eros Now “Our attempt through this biopic is to tell the story of his struggle, ambition, intensity and success and how it not only inspires many but is one of the factors of his mass appeal.” - Rishima Lulla the chief content officer for Eros Group stated at the press release. Everyone certainly believes his growing up years, along with certain decisions he's made make for an incredible story or a web series. © Twitter While we wait with bated breath for the web series to churn out, we sure hope it's not propaganda for the coming elections and it truly talks about just his life and struggles sans any political agenda. Well, there's only one way to find out I guess, stay tuned for its release in April.
  11. Fashion is essentially subjective, of course, but there are some things that one should just stay a hundred miles away from - unless of course, they enjoy wallowing in bad taste. Men's fashion is becoming more and more inclusive every passing day, but that should never be the license for wearing 'the bad and the ugly'. In spite of all the subjectivity, trust us, there do exist some unforgivable fashion faux pas, that every man should steer clear of. Don't worry if it sounds too confusing, we're here to tell you what not to wear. We have listed out 6 things that men should never, ever wear. 1. Shiny shirts © FashionLeisure They were popular once upon a time, but we'll never understand why. No one can pull them off! Shiny shirts will make you look weird AF, even if you look like a Greek God. They look super cheap, extremely gaudy, and plain ugly. 2. Ill fitted, baggy jeans © Alibaba If you want to convert your Tinder right swipes to left swipes in real life, please go out on a date wearing these atrocities. Yes, comfortable and blah, but so are a pair of nice, crisp pair of linen trousers that fit you just right! Why would you want to look like a confused teen from the hood in a Gangsta movie who's had a trip or two to the juvie? 3. Socks with sandals © Getty Images We can't stress upon how harmful this one right here can be for your romantic/*** life. It, however, will work as a great contraceptive method because you will never be getting laid if you're seen in public wearing them. Go on, try it out. 4. Huge belt buckles © Democratic Underground You're not a cowboy (unless you actually are). But even if you are, why should you be a fashionably deprived one? Plus, it's not the '70s anymore and they should just be discarded. 5. Square toed shoes © ShoesLovetoknow Who can pull them off, honestly? Your feet would look 60 if you wear them. 6. Too much of jewellery © Saavn You aren't Bappi Lahiri, and you should save it only for him.
  12. The fashion industry happens to be one of the most fast-paced and constantly evolving industries in the world. Fashion trends come and go in the blink of an eye, but if there is one thing that doesn't change, it is the idea and possibility that inspires it. Two friends decided to change India's unfamiliarity with beachwear and herald a bigger change in the Indian fashion scene by reimagining the way swimwear was incorporated into mainstream fashion choices in their home country. What started out as a passion project turned Shivan and Narresh's life around, and soon the duo was christened as “bikini boys” of India. (c) MensXP But there is a lot of history behind their success and raging popularity as India's first luxury beachwear brand. Swimwear as a fashion category was non-existent in the the Indian subcontinent, when Shivan and Narresh first set foot in the industry. Freshly out of college, the NIFT graduates were told that “the big money lay in selling lehengas”. Industry veterans tried to sell the Indian festive wear category as the “it” thing to make their debut with. But research and personal inclination told the duo to explore other avenues and turned out that swimwear was a category they could dig into. (c) MensXP It all started when Shivan and Narresh was had just joined NIFT, New Delhi. While Narresh was specialising with women's wear, Shivan was studying leather corsetry at a prestigious design school. They were introduced by a common friend during their first year, but, it was design competitions that brought them together. Their complementary skills helped them bag most competitions, and they soon realised that sticking together would be best. Yet, when they set out, people around them were apprehensive and discouraging. That plunged Shivan and Narresh into a dark phase when they didn't know the right answers or how to seek them. But eventually it was their passion and creativity that won, and they decided to sell swimwear as a lifestyle. (c) MensXP For the makers of the brand 'Shivan & Narresh' their “constant job and passion is to send people on holidays”. What started off as swimwear, soon morphed into resort wear, followed by menswear. But more recently it is their celebration wear that has got the town talking. But for Shivan, their greatest design invention they lent to the fashion dictionary was the, “bikini saree” which has been adorned by the who's who of the industry and Bollywood divas. Their menswear is equally popular and eye-catchy. And though Shivan and Narresh have personalities that are poles apart, their talents and quirks make them the perfect partners to work with. (c) Shivan & Narresh/MensXP They started out with a sum of Rs 1 lakh that they had won through a competition, and combined it with another 50,000 rupees borrowed from their parents, and bought three machines that would help them breathe life to those killer swimsuits. From their first store in Hauz Khas to their first flagship store in one of India's most expensive malls, Emporio, they have come a long way in the last seven years. (c) Shivan & Narresh/MensXP And when it comes to giving a wise piece of advice to aspiring designers, both Shivan and Narresh believe that “a designer must always represent himself or herself, and bring that to the table. Knowing who they are, what they represent and where they are coming from, and pick your line of work keeping it in sync with who you are. All else will automatically fall into place." (c) Shivan & Narresh/MensXP Learn from these two fashion innovators, as they share industry insights and personal lessons with us, about how to make it in the industry on your own terms.
  13. The rage is real. Memories of all those CRPF jawans being mercilessly martyred at the hands of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists continue to haunt us. Whether it's the loud chants of “Vande Mataram” during the candle march at India Gate in unison or the emotional speeches given by the fellow soldiers, the flare against those who want to harm our motherland is burning bright in every Indian. While the common citizens are trying their best to show their protest, there is one man in particular who is waging a war of his own against terror and those perpetrators who want to see the world burn. That man being Gautam Gambhir. Although he has parted ways with the Indian cricket team, the former Indian opener continues to serve his country even now. After the infamous terror attack at the hands of a Jaish influenced suicide bomber caused more than 40 CRPF soldiers their lives, Gambhir was one of the first few to condemn it. He was also one of the first to suggest that the only way to sort the issue out for good is to settle it on the “battle ground”. “Yes, let's talk with the separatists. Yes, let's talk with Pakistan. But this time conversation can't be on the table, it has to be in a battle ground. Enough is enough. 18 CRPF personnel killed in IED blast on Srinagar-Jammu highway,” the cricketer had tweeted on the day of the attack. Having admitted time and again that his first love was the Indian Army and not cricket, Gambhir also runs a foundation that works in favour of the children of the martyred soldiers of the nation. “We are sponsoring 50 children right now, we are going to increase the number to 100,” he said at the launch of Radhika Kawlra Singh's book 'It's Easy To Be You'. “It was pure destiny and had I not played Ranji Trophy in 12th (standard), I would have definitely gone into the NDA because that was my first love and it still remains my first love. In fact, my only regret in life is that I couldn't join the army,” Gambhir had said. Indian Army नॠयह à¤à¤à¤ भॠशà¥à¤°à¥ नहà¥à¤ à¤à¤°à¥ but they will bloody well finish it and I am with them emotion-to-emotion, shoulder-to-shoulder. — Gautam Gambhir (@GautamGambhir) February 17, 2019 The patriot in Gautam Gambhir has enabled him to serve his country to the best of his abilities. So what if he is not a soldier, his was against terror is equally important and must be supported under any circumstances.
  14. At the beginning of this month, Apex Legends was announced, a Battle Royale game that is free-to-play just like PUBG and Fortnite. The game is developed by Respawn and Electronic Arts and is available for download on PS4, Xbox One, and Origin for PC. © KnowTechie Last week, Respawn revealed that the game has hit 25 million total players and had "well over" 2 million concurrent players during the weekend. If we compare, Fortnite took four months to achieve the same numbers and the game currently has 200 million players. Today, the developer has revealed that it has already banned more than 16,000 accounts for cheating. The company also asked users to capture proof of cheaters, such as a screenshot or video clip and send it to them. Even if the proof isn't available, they are urging players to report the cheaters' ID and it shall be taken up for investigation. © Respawn The game currently lacks an in-game reporting tool and the developer has acknowledged that it's a "good idea". Though, there isn't a timeline on when the feature will be rolled out. Given the massive popularity of the game, we expect the reporting system to drop soon since a manual complain filing is bothersome for players as well as the company. A cheater who goes by the name of Mengiez on Twitch was caught cheating in his own broadcast. Viewers noticed that he's asking a wall hack to keep an eye on his opponent's location. Another Twitch streamer going by the name Dharyxd was caught using an aimbot. The videos have since been deleted, but the cheating cost them their accounts. © Respawn The game will have a second patch this week, but we don't know what to expect with the upcoming Apex Legends patch. So far, Respawn has been doing pretty well with their response to player concerns. Many players have been complaining that PUBG has a huge issue with hackers and the developers aren't doing enough to curb it. Using hacks to score points ruins the fun of the game because no player should have an undue advantage. In December, PUBG received a new anti-cheating tool called BattlEye, and it helped in 30,000 cheating accounts.

  17. That time of the year is finally here. The Grammys Red Carpet remains the most anticipated event when it comes to Hollywood fashion. The Grammys have been giving us some of the most iconic fashion moments over the years. This year, they definitely did rise up to the expectations and didn't disappoint us. With all the sizzling controversies involving Ariana Grande, Drake and Cardi B and her pianist stealing the whole show, the 2019 Grammys is already on its way to becoming the most talked about event of the year. When it comes to fashion, the Grammys red carpet serves more looks than the Oscars because of its younger audience and nominees. Being fashion icons and believing in expression through dressing, pop artists tend to experiment with fashion more which equals to more drama on the red carpet. The men of the entertainment business don't shy away from a good head turning look either. Have a look at the 12 quirkiest looks form the Grammys 2019 Red Carpet that turned heads for all the right reasons: 1. Ricky Rebel © Getty Images Let's talk about the one sparking the most talks, shall we? Singer Ricky Rebel walked down the red carpet in a reversible pro-Trump jacket from designer Andre Soriano. The jacket had 'Keep America Great' text which a play on Donald Trump's political slogan on one side and 'Trump 2020' on the other. The outfit has already sparked tons of negative talk about its political statement and about the upcoming US elections next year. 2. Leon Bridges © Getty Images A name in soul music, Leon Bridges sported a custom made 2-piece set by designer Emily Bode. The mustard-coloured corduroy set was covered in little drawings that referenced his home state of Texas and his own music as well. That's one hell of a customization, we say! 3. Post Malone © Getty Images If there's one thing to know about Post Malone, he loves his flashy suits. They are a statement on their own and quirky as hell. This year was no less, as the singer sported a salmon coloured bedazzled suit covered with silver star embellishments, which he topped off with matching pink cowboy boots. This look was put together by costume designer Catherine Hahn, who is one of the artist's favourite designers. Pink is the new black, we see! 4. Kyle Trewartha and Michael Trewartha © Getty Images Like the Fiji water girl at the Oscars, the twins with the silver hair were the Grammy mystery people this year. The twins who are Kyle Trewartha and Michael Trewartha dazzled the red carpet in designer wear which was perfectly layered and stormy weather ready. Yes, they look like The Chainsmokers. No, they're not them. The ice twins definitely do have style, though. 5. Ben Harper © Getty Images If there's one way to ditch the boring black tie and go full ham, Ben Harper should be your guide. Ben Harper did enter full bedazzle mode in a jacket showing off yellow sequined paisley motifs worn with a broad-brim hat. The Nike basketball shoes add an extra edge to the outfit. Very country, yet very sporty. An interesting combination. 6. Young Thug © Getty Images If there's one way to stand out, it has to be to get in with the fluorescent trend. And since bright neon colours always make their mark in the athleisure world, it has to have an active presence on the red carpet too, right? Young Thug stood out from the crowd in a fluorescent lime green hoodie paired with a red cropped leather jacket. The rapper paired it with beige pants and red sneakers for the too-cool-to-care look and we lowkey dig it. 7. Swae Lee © Getty Images Popular singer Swae Lee left his mark on the red carpet with his out of the box fashion choice for this year's Grammys. Seen in a laced see-through shirt paired with studded M.X By Maxine Simoens pants and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Swae stole the show with his peek-a-boo outfit! 8. Jaden Smith © Getty Images Jaden Smith always manages to make heads turn at every red carpet ever. His unapologetic street-inspired style is pretty much what is expected of him. He didn't disappoint this time around with a black hoodie, a multi-coloured graphic jacket and chain detailing all over his upper and lower body. No one can pull off a Jaden Smith exclusive better than Jaden himself! 9. Fantastic Negrito © Getty Images The American singer wore a customized red suit with colourful swatches of fabric making up the pockets. A silver necklace with two fish hung from his neck which he mentions used to be a belt buckle. His whole outfit was apparently inspired by 'upcycling', which is using discarded material to design something that is of a higher quality than the original. 10. Kane Brown © Getty Images Singer Kane Brown doesn't shy away from some print. Seen sporting a Versace black and gold printed shirt with a Versace blazer with the same print on the inner lining as well. Donning daring prints sure seems like a bold fashion statement but Kane wears them like a champion! 11. Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith and Flea © Getty Images Members of the popular rock band 'Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith, and Flea turned up at the red carpet and stole a lot of attention for their attire. The perfect mix of eccentric, bold and daring, their outfits were downright rocking. With Anthony's all floral suit, Chad's floral shirt and multi-coloured sneakers to Flea's jacquard pants and hat, they did bring the heat with them. 12. Hector Buitrago and Andrea Echeverri © Getty Images Colombian rock band Aterciopelados members Hector Buitrago and Andrea Echeverri came dressed as the Grammy award itself. Hector's outfit being a spin on an album cover itself with gold star motifs all over was interesting while Andrea's outfit was actually him being a real-life version of a Grammy award complete with a headgear and buttons representing the iconic gramophone shape was an eye-catcher. The award or rather Andrea himself was addressed to their band Aterciopelados indicating that they were expecting a definite win. These few were amongst the many others who made an appearance at the Grammy Awards 2019 and gave fashion a new definition. You have our attention, Hollywood!

  19. Ever since the revolution of computer games, it has been an expensive activity or hobby to maintain. Whether you play on the PC or consoles, buying a proper machine and then games have always been pretty expensive. Now, we're witnessing a major revolution in the world of gaming with the addition of mobile phones as a platform. Sure, mobile games have existed for almost decades, but the industry is progressing to a whole new level. Thanks to the improvement in mobile OS architecture and hardware, a tiny mobile phone is capable of playing a 2GB Battle Royale game. PUBG, Fortnite, Asphalt etc. are just starting points and we're already seeing massive new titles coming soon. 21. 'Apex Legends' is the latest and hottest Battle Royale game that is available to play for free on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was quite an unexpected release by Electronic Arts, however, the game has found success in a matter of days. Just three days after its launch, the game has managed to rake in 10 million players. The biggest game in the Battle Royale genre Fortnite was able to achieve the same milestone in two weeks. © Electronic Arts “We knew it would be risky to take the franchise in this direction, to go free to play, and do a surprise launch,” Respawn CEO Vince Zampella wrote in a blog post. “But we fell in love with Apex Legends and wanted, needed, other people to play it, too.” In addition to the overall player count, the developer also says that Apex has already reached 1 million concurrent players. © Electronic Arts The game is set in the Titanfall universe that has fluid and snappy controls and features some of the most popular features from different genres. It essentially has gunplay like 'Call of Duty' and has characters with special powers that you may be familiar with from Overwatch. It's this unique approach to the Battle Royale genre that made the game successful. © Electronic Arts Currently, you can download Apex Legends via EA Origins on PC and via respective online stores on consoles. Apex Legends is a completely free-to-play game with microtransactions that are only applicable to cosmetics. The microtransactions in 'Apex Legend' does not affect the in-game footage and work exactly as it does on 'Fortnite'.
  22. Who said social initiatives and a good round of tipples cannot go hand-in-hand? Social initiatives work to make our surroundings better, whereas booze makes everything...erm...better! Period. Imagine all the possibilities we could explore if these two aspects came together and the end result was a win-win situation for us all? That would be a living dream and seems like someone's already decided to look into this and turn it into reality! A beach bar in Goa has come up with the perfect plan to get people to take care of the busy beaches which are corrupted by the callousness of the umpteen visitors, who stop by on a daily basis and leave the place littered. © Instagram According to a report by The Weather Channel India, 'Waste Bar' offers free beer in exchange for the waste collected from the beaches. The aim is to make people aware and accountable for their surroundings. The campaign was started by Noreen van Holstein in collaboration with Drishti Marine, a private beach management agency that also works with Goa tourism to provide damage control to the situation. The initiative was kick-started on 30th January at the Zanzibar shack located in the Baga village. Apart from all the good you do to the environment by participating in this initiative, it also allows you to get around the Rs. 2,000 drinking fine by collecting 10 beer bottle caps or 20 cigarette butts or 5 plastic straws. This waste-bar in Goa is a hang out of sorts, where one can exchange segregated garbage for a free beer. Such initiatives had already been tried and tested in the Netherlands, and the world has picked up on the idea over the years. She said, “People come to Goa for two things: beach and the bar. So let's give them what they come for – free drinks in exchange for garbage that they collect. This ensures that they become conscious of the waste that is there on the beach and that trash actually has value! They will leave Goa with a positive feeling and a clean beach.” Other beaches around Goa are also set to pick up the concept in the upcoming months, but Twitter already has a lot of good stuff to say about it. This idea has great potential. Should be applied beyond beaches and beyond Goa. @MCGM_BMC — Niks29 (@Niks292) February 4, 2019 Now that's something India really needs to learn and should be proud of. #Goa — Avani Shah (@avani_16) February 4, 2019 Tks, waste-bar. Good luckð I truly hope that this exercise spreads message of cleanliness and hygiene among all the visitors in Goa. May all of us learn to become responsible & self-disciplined citizens. Keep beaches clean & prevent trash from going into the beach....ð#Goa — Vandana (@CharouRathore) February 4, 2019 We hope to see some great changes in Goa, courtesy the Waste Bar.
  23. The budget segment gets the maximum hits in India, and lately, brands have started focusing on it the most. But, the midrange segment still exists, and differentiates itself with premium offerings, at a not-flagship price. With the economy slowly picking up, the segment is bound to get even more popular. We've made a list of the top midrange phones you can buy right now. Considering multiple factors like performance, battery life, camera, and software, this list can cater to every type of user: 1. POCO F1: © MensXP / Shivam Vahia While all other midrange phones are marketed as "midrange", the F1 is actually a flagship. It has all the high-end feature one may ask for, at a significantly lower price. To start with, it is powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor and comes with 6GB RAM in the base variant. The brand marketed the phone as the "master of speed", as it also includes liquid cooling. It runs on POCO launcher out of the box and has a 12+5-megapixel dual camera setup on the rear. The overall picture quality is insanely good and often on par with flagships like the Note 8. 2. Nokia 8.1: © Sree Hari Carrying forward the legacy of Nokia 7 Plus, the Nokia 8.1 is a finely crafted product with the best-in-class design. The aluminium unibody makes it extremely sturdy and ergonomic to hold. It runs on the recently announced Snapdragon 710 platform and comes with 4GB RAM in the base variant. Just like all other Nokia branded phones, it is a part of the Android One program and runs on stock Android. Nokia has a consistent reputation for delivering software updates. On the rear is a 12+13-megapixel dual camera setup, while the front has a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. It has a modest 3500mAh battery that supports fast charging. 3. Vivo V11 Pro: © MensXP / Shivam Vahia This is the cheapest phone to house an in-display fingerprint scanner right now and is a solid offering with balanced specifications in all departments. It has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display and is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, along with 6GB RAM. The back has a slightly reflective design that mimics a starry night. It runs on Funtouch OS and is heavily inspired by iOS. The back has a 12+5-megapixel dual camera, while the front has a 25-megapixel selfie shooter. Backing these internals is a 3400mAh battery that supports fast charging. 4. Samsung Galaxy A9: © YouTube This phone is built for photography enthusiasts. The first thing you'll notice are the four lenses on the back. The four rear sensors are: a 24-megapixel lens, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with a 2X optical zoom, an 8-megapixel 120-degree ultra wide lens, and finally a 5-megapixel depth sensor. To start with, it has a 6.3-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display and is powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset along with 6GB RAM. Obviously, the phone ships with Samsung's own “Samsung Experience” UI running atop. It is backed by a 3800mAh battery and supports adaptive fast charging. 5. The rear has a 16+2-megapixel dual camera setup, while the front has a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. Backing these internals is a 3750mAh battery that supports 18W quick charging.
  24. Smartphone companies have been trying to innovate ever since Apple changed the game with the iPhone X and XS notch. Companies have been trying to incorporate the same or a smaller notch into their smartphones to make the experience less intrusive. Some smartphones like the Vivo Nex have a pop-up selfie camera while the OnePlus 6T has a water drop notch. Samsung introduced a punch-hole selfie camera on one of its smartphones and Honor took the next step by placing it on the top-left corner. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla While the punch-hole screen may be the star attraction here, the smartphone also packs a punch when it comes to performance. Considering the price, the Honor View 20 has hit the ball out of the park with what all it can do. It's the first major smartphone launch of 2019 in India and what a start it has been. We've been using the Honor View 20 for almost three weeks as our daily device and here's what we think about the smartphone: Design and Display The Honor View 20 has a 6.4-inch punch-punch-hole Full HD+ LCD display and has a wider aspect ratio than other smartphones of the same size. The display has a resolution of (2,310 x 1,080 pixels) and has an aspect ratio of 19:25.9 © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The LCD screen is quite impressive given that it's the nearest competitor being the OnePlus 6T features an OLED panel. The only time we faced an issue with the display was when we tried to use it directly under the sun. That's an annoying problem with LCDs in general which is why some people prefer an OLED panel. Majority of the time, the display had great colour representation, viewing angels were strong and have a brightness level of 370 nits. The front-facing camera on the Honor View 20 is also not intrusive when it comes to the viewing experience. It took us a day or two to get used to the punch-hole camera as we often thought there was a smudge on the screen. This was simply because it was the first device we used with a camera setup like this. In time, we got used to the punch-hole camera display and made it harder to switch back to a smartphone with a notch. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla In terms of design, the Honor View 20 is by far our favourite device by the Chinese company. It has a bright blue glass back phone that also as the letter “V” etched in the design. In fact, the V-Shaped pattern at the rear can catch the light and give a unique look from different angles. We love the bold blue colour as it is eye-catching and looks distinct from other smartphones. Build quality of the smartphone is also quite good as it has an aluminium frame with a premium finish. It has a 3.5mm jack (yay!) And a super fast fingerprint scanner at the back. Performance and Specifications The Honor View 20 is packed with quite a few components that make it Huawei Mate 20 Pro's younger brother. It is powered by the same Kirin 980 chipset (octa-core: 2x 2.6GHz, 2x 1.92GHz, 4x 1.8GHz) and is coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. We got the 6GB/128 GB variant for review and it still managed to perform like a beast. The Kirin 980 chipset has primary and secondary cores that perform different tasks. These cores are complemented by 'mid' cores that help in conserving battery life and balance the workload. During our tests, the Honor View 20 scored 9588 in the multi-core test and 3308 single-core score test, respectively. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla That's even faster than the McLaren edition of the OnePlus 6T that has 10GB of RAM. It proves that RAM is not the only factor that contributes towards the speed of a smartphone —a common misconception in India. In terms of security, the Honor View 20 has a fingerprint scanner at the back that works blazingly fast and also has facial recognition. It works in a very rudimentary manner as it uses a punch-hole camera for scanning. Since it does not use has IR tracing, the Facial recognition feature is not as accurate as the Mate 20 Pro. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla We used the Honor View 20 to play games like PUBG, Command & Conquer Rivals and Asphalt and faced no issues in regards to gaming performance. We didn't experience any frame rate drops, connectivity or over-heating issues. In fact, we prefer using the Honor View 20 for our gaming needs over any other smartphone right now. That's simply because the punch-hole display provides more immersive experience. As for battery life, the Honor View 20 has a 4,000 mAh battery that easily manages to last more than a full day on moderate use. While gaming, the battery life would drop down to 16 hours which is quite impressive in our opinion. It is bundled with a 5V fast-charger which is fast enough to phone going in under an hour. It's not as fast as OnePlus' warp charge, but it's still fast enough to get regular top-ups. Camera © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The Honor View 20 turns it up a notch in the camera department as well since it has a 48-megapixel snapper paired with a large sensor and an extremely quick f/1.8 aperture. It also has a TOF 3D stereo camera. It's the only smartphone in India that has resolution of that scale and the second smartphone in the world to do so. Sony's new IMX586 sensor is truly a beast and it often takes detailed and sharp images. Honor has also included an AI feature called “AI Ultra Clarity” which we are yet to test when Honor releases the update for Indian handsets. If you want a reference point, the View 20 outmatches the OnePlus 6T by a mile. Even the 25-MP selfie camera does a good job; however, we found some images to be a bit over-exposed and inaccurate with the bokeh effect. Here are some camera samples for your reference: View this post on Instagram Images shot using the #HonorView20. #smartphones #technology #technews A post shared by Akshay Bhalla (@editorinchief) on Jan 28, 2019 at 6:00am PST The Final Say The View 20 is by far the most powerful and beautiful smartphones ever made by Honor. It's the jack of all trades that can do everything a midrange flagship is supposed to do. It beats the OnePlus 6T in performance and photography and the punch-hole screen is a dream to use. It includes a headphone jack which is always a plus but lacks any form of water resistance. If you are looking for a smartphone that looks awesome but can also perform like a dream, the Honor View 20 is your purchase of the year.
