Is Glickenhaus's SCG 004S Supercar The Real 'Exterminator'?
The Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina may be director James Glickenhaus's best customisation of a Ferrari, but wait till you see the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus 004S to change your mind about coach building. Do you reckon the 004S is the real 'Exterminator', because we certainly feel it is, except for one extremely dramatic oddity. But we'll get to that in a bit, check out the 004S first.

The three seater coupe looks ready to take on a race track as well as shine on daily asphalt with its scooped bodywork, compact design, flat floor and ground clearance enough to not topple over during a quick race nor seesaw on speed bumps during a city drive. It's a no nonsense supercar, essentially, nothing over the top yet fashionable even in functionality.
However, the one oddity that has us scratching our heads is the three-seater with the driver's seat right in between the two passenger seats. Huh? The image that drew in our heads was of a supermom or superdad strapping two wildly enthusiastic toddlers on either side, racing the 650hp machine to shop groceries and make it to soccer practice! Well, it's a rather cute family car with just a lot of power!

A question that popped in our minds was "if it's a family car what's it doing with an eight cylinder 5 litre twin turbo mid-engine?" It's probably a car for the urban dad or mom who dreamed of taking NASCAR titles home but decided to combine it with their dream of making a happy and healthy family. So we ask you again, is it the real 'Exterminator'? We still think, yes, it's the 'Exterminator' for family of men/women trying to keep their interests and responsibilities together, fighting to add excitement to their mundane lives!
The only thing that's not family-oriented about the vehicle is its obscene price tag. How will super dad or super mom pay for their kids to go to college if they blow up $400,000 on a car? We'll drop the family drama here and say that a McLaren 675LT costs the same as the 004S and comes with a smaller eight cylinder 3.8 litre but more powerful engine pumping 666hp. Then why should one buy the 004S?

Guess the answer to that is because it's made by a car enthusiast who also appears to have directed some stellar movies (and of course the Ferrari P4/5, can't forget that). Also, because he's marketed the first 25 units as 'Founders Edition' models, and who doesn't like to buy limited editions? Also, Glickenhaus has done a pretty good job with the SCG 00CS and the SCG 003S; so we're assuming the 004S would at least be at par with them, if not better.
The 004S is still in the concept stage and not due for deliveries before 2019, and it would be interesting to follow up on how its builders refine it as they go. Can't wait for the prototype to arrive some time next year!
