As the results of Karnataka elections became clearer last evening, it became evident that no party could form the government easily. While the fractured mandate is not a good news for the people of the state, it's usually a once in a lifetime opportunity for fence sitting MLAs who see it as an opportunity to earn big bucks by putting a price on their win for either party willing to form a government.

But it's easier said than done. Parties usually pre-empt this kind of horse-trading by locking up their MLAs in fancy resorts and hotels, an all expense paid stay that may last till the government is formed. Congress did it during the Rajya Sabha voting for Ahmed Patel and they have done it again after the Karnataka elections.

After Congress decided to support JDS in forming the government in Karnataka, 120 rooms were booked in Eagleton Resorts in the city of Bengaluru in order to foil any bids by BJP to poach their candidates. The parties had decided to hold legislature party meeting at the party office at 8am on Wednesday after which they were scheduled to leave for the resort till the confusion over government formation is cleared.

Earlier, Kerala Tourism took a sly dig at the ensuing post-election resort tourism by inviting the newly-elected MLAs to unwind at safe and beautiful resorts in God's Own Country.

Kerala Tourism tweeted, "After the rough and tumble of the #KarnatakaVerdict, we invite all the MLAs to unwind at the safe and beautiful resorts of Gods Own Country. #ComeOutAndPlay."

While it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top in the battle of Karnataka, Eagleton resorts would definitely consider itself as the sole winner in the bitter fought elections for sure.
