The Unbelievable Transformation Of A Skinny Guy-Next-Door To A Confident, Fashion-Forward Man

Whoever is still labouring under the flawed idea that body positivity needs to be extended only towards overweight people, needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

Just like being overweight comes with its own share of baggage, being skinny has its share of vices too - most of which are socially inflicted, or worse, self-perceived.

Especially in this day and age, a skinny boy has to face a lot of flak for no fault of his own. In fact, let's just swallow the bitter pill of acknowledgement and say it out loud - the skinny boy is the new 'healthy girl'.

While we can't change the society or its established norms of 'what's good-looking' overnight, we surely can try to salvage the fashion bit and use the lean frame to our advantage - and turn things completely around, to astonished faces and open jaws - just like Nikhil Verma did.

Nikhil is your regular guy-next-door, who is academically gifted (he has a Masters degree in History from Delhi University), but fashionably challenged. To make matters worse, he is super skinny and tall. But the silver lining is that, before he gave in to 'settling' with his less than confident self in terms of fashion and grooming, he decided to be a part of MensXP's 'Groom Barabar Groom' - India's first makeover show for men.

'Groom Barabar Groom' aims to address that particular domain, which was lying untouched till now, as far as India is concerned. With this show, MensXP wants to create India's first male-focused makeover show that along with being a masterclass in everything fashion and grooming, will provide a safe space for underconfident guys to overcome their self-perceived shortcomings.

Some of these guys might not even know the reason for their years of self-doubt in them, that we might have a very simple solution for.

Host Siddharth Batra along with celebrity stylists Isha Bhansali and Gaurav Khanijo took Nikhil under their expert wing, and the person that emerged was no less than a marvel to be witnessed - the result of a transformation to be reckoned with.

From addressing Nikhil's discomfort with prints and patterns to familiarizing him with styles that would flatter his frame- such as Cuban collared shirts and lots of intelligent layering - our experts made sure that Nikhil got over his confidence issues that essentially stemmed from his less than optimum prowess in terms of dressing up. On top of it all, he also received an edgy grooming makeover from renowned Australian hairstylist Rod Anker.

By the time the experts were done, Nikhil was unrecognizable, and in an amazing way.

Take a look at the video right here.

We've seen multiple grooming and makeover shows for women over the years, but none for men. MenXP wishes to change that.

Now more than ever, men are more up-to-date with all the latest trends when it comes to grooming products or the latest fashion. On the other end of the spectrum, a majority of them don't know where to even begin.

With 'Groom Baraabar Groom', MensXP wants to create India's first male-focused makeover show, that along with being a masterclass in everything fashion and grooming, will provide a safe space for underconfident guys to overcome their self-perceived shortcomings. Some of these guys might not even know the reason for years of self-doubt in them that we might have a very simple solution for.

From a much-needed haircut to hygiene routines like pedicures, styling based on the body type (short, tall, skinny, overweight), fashion and grooming advice and a little note on improving self-confidence to finally the big reveal - our show is more about breaking self-inflicted notions of physical shortcomings rather than a superficial makeover.

MensXP wants to change the grooming game for men in India with this show.
