<p>Remember the time designers stopped copying each other? Neither do I. Call it a sad reality or a design instinct taught in unfortunate design colleges—the Indian fashion industry sings songs of a massive chor bazaar! Flagbearer of the rooster (cc: India Couture Week'17), ace designer Rohit Bal was at the receiving end recently and reacted promptly by patenting his designs. So, if you are thinking about stealing Mr. Bal's designs, think twice! </p> <p>Point being, people copy. There's a reason why ZARA exists (allegedly). But this one here is even bigger. It's about an A-list celebrity and one of the coolest menswear dudes in Bollywood a.k.a. Shahid Kapoor wearing a blatant copy. What we are talking about here is Shahid Kapoor's really sharp charcoal grey IIFA suit. This was an unapologetic, shameless copy of Belgian fashion designer and Dior menswear director, Kris Van Assche's A/W 2013 design. It was copied...perfectly! Just like Kris' 2013 show—Shahid wore the suit with a black shirt inside. The only difference here is that he wore derby shoes instead of oxfords. (Anisha Jain hope you are listening?). This is a perfect case of "steal my homework but don't copy it completely".</p> <p>All in all, good news: Anuj Madaan makes impeccable INSPIRED copies of Internationally acclaimed designers who've defined and re-defined the future of menswear. He really does have a bright future ahead. Bad news: we'll be here reporting your nasty-a** to the internet!</p>
