Sheikh Rasheed receives Hanif Abbasi's Rs10b defamation notice

PML-N's Hanif Abbasi and AML chief Sheikh RasheedISLAMABAD: Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rasheed received a Rs10b defamation notice on Thursday morning from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi.
Rasheed has been summoned to appear before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Gulzar Ahmed on August 3.
The notice stated that ?on May 14, 2017, while addressing a group of people at a breakfast meeting hosted by Abid Mughal at Dhoke Khabba in Rawalpindi, the defendant had falsely stated that the plaintiff obtained two tonnes of heroin.? It adds that the defendant had specifically and falsely stated that the plaintiff is involved in a court case of two tonnes of heroin.
The defamation notice was received by Rasheed at his residence in Rawalpindi ? Lal Haveli.
According to media reports, Rasheed said that he stands behind his accusation that Abbasi is involved in selling narcotics, further adding that he will prove his claim in the court of law.
