Virender Sehwag Reveals Selectors Wanted To Drop Kohli For The Third Test At Perth In 2012

Virender Sehwag often brings out the unknown aspects of the Indian dressing room in his commentary stints and that is why he’s one of the best in business in the com-box too. Take, for example, his latest reveal which will shock many of Kohli’s fans.

This is what the opener revealed during lunch on day three of the third test between India and England.

“Selectors wanted to play Rohit Sharma instead of Virat Kohli at Perth in 2012,” Virender Sehwag said. “I was vice-captain and MS Dhoni was leading the team, and we decided that we have to back Virat Kohli, and the rest is history.”

Rohit Sharma, who was more comfortable and experienced in facing the aussie attack was the alternate choice. But Kohli restored the faith shown in him by performing well in the test match and scored 75 and 44 in the game.

But would his career path have been any different if he was dropped for that test match? Maybe not because the kind of hunger he has for the game goes on to show that he would have still come out stronger out of the series and made a better career all for himself!
