ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: A petition was filed in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday seeking disqualification of Imran Khan from the National Assembly over allegations levelled by his former party affiliate Aisha Gulalai.

Raja Basharat of Muslim League Lawyers Forum filed the petition with Imran Khan and Aisha Gulalai made respondents in it. The petitioner said Gulalai levelled serious allegations against Khan on Tuesday of which she had evidence as well.

He requested the ECP to de-notify the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from NA-56, Rawalpindi-VII for a party's chairman and member of the National Assembly should bear a good character.

Resolutions in Punjab, Balochistan assemblies

Two resolutions were also submitted against the PTI chairman in Punjab and Balochistan provincial assemblies.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member Hina Pervez Butt submitted the resolution, stating that Khan's behaviour with female party activists was intolerable.

"Such acts do not suit a leader of any political party," it read, calling for investigations into Gulalai's allegations.

The petition further demanded Khan be disqualified under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

In Balochistan Assembly, Shahida Rauf submitted the condemnation resolution against the PTI chief. "Imran Khan's cheap and immoral acts hurt prestige and honour of women," it read.

The PTI chief should be tried over Gulalai's allegations and disqualified from parliament.
