KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to gun down four Tehreek-e-Taliban terrorists in an encounter near Sagian Bridge in Lahore, hours after the truck blast that ripped through the Bund Road area late Monday.

According to CTD, police were deployed at all entry and exit points of Punjab?s capital to curb the threats of more attacks looming after the Lahore blast.

Right as police approached a vehicle to search, armed men inside the vehicle opened fire. Police effectively responded, and in retaliatory fire, four terrorists were killed, while three others managed to flee the scene in the dark of night, spokesperson of CTD added.

CTD claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the custody of the terrorists who are said to be affiliated with the banned outfit of Tehreek-e-Taliban.

Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of police has been called in the area to launch search operations for apprehending the absconded accomplices of the killed terrorists.
