

KARACHI: Sindh government on Thursday took back its decision to freeze Karachi Municipal Corporation, confirmed Minister Local Government Jam Khan Shoro while speaking to Geo News.
According to reports, the provincial government frizzed KMC funds in reaction to Mayor Karachi?s to stop Badar Jamil Mandhro from taking charge of Municipal Commissioner. Sources informed that on direction of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the provincial government has taken back Mandhro?s appointment.
Speaking to Geo News, Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar called the Sindh government?s move, ? an example of bad governance?.
Separately, the MQM-Pakistan and the mayor of Karachi have filed a petition in the Supreme Court to take back control of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) from the Sindh government.
In addition to taking back control of the KMC, the MQM-P has also requested the Supreme Court through a petition to order the Sindh government?s authorities concerned to release Rs29.36 billion as the KMC?s share of the Octroi Zila Tax (OZT) along with the mark-up.
