LAHORE: Four robbers were allegedly killed in a police encounter on Saturday in the city's Harbanspura area, while two managed to escape.

The robbers had created a blockade around the area and opened fire at the police when it reached the site on the information that the robbers were involved in the killing of a man during robbery on August 24 in the area.

The robbers were killed in retaliatory fire by police.

The robbers had on Wednesday shot dead a man during a robbery and snatched Rs0.2 million from him.

Faisal was enroute to the cattle market to buy a sacrificial animal for Eid-ul-Azha when he encountered the two robbers.

Police claim the robbers opened fire at him after the victim resisted the robbery and fled the crime scene immediately with the cash. Faisal died on spot.
