Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has extended greetings to Muslims around the world on Eid-ul-Azha.

In a video statement released on his social media, Trudeau said, ?Today, Muslims in Canada and around the world will celebrate Eid al-Azha. On behalf of our family, Sophie and I extend our best wishes to all those celebrating Eid.?

?This year, as we mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation, Eid al-Azha is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the important contributions the Muslim community has made to build the diverse, strong and inclusive country that we all call home,? he added.

Around two million Muslims offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers at Masjid al-Haram, the Grand Mosque in Makkah, and Masjid an-Nabawi, also called the Prophet?s Mosque, in Saudi Arabia early Friday morning.

The first day of Eid-ul-Azha is being observed by Muslims in several countries today. Thousands gathered at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to offer Eid-ul-Azha prayers earlier. Eid prayers will also be offered across United States and Europe today.
