Petition filed against KP CM in accountability commission

PESHAWAR: A petition has been filed against Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak in the province's Ehtesab Commission, Geo News reported on Thursday.
The reference has been filed by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Zia-ul-Afridi, who was previously affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In the petition, Zia-ul-Afridi challenged the appointments of managing director of Bank of Khyber and CEO Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (Pedo) and claimed they were illegal.
Both the appointments were approved by Pervaiz Khattak, therefore, strict action should be taken against the chief minister, the petition added.
The petition also states that Khattak used both the officers which caused a loss worth billions of rupees.
Earlier today, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Department issued a notice to the Bank of Khyber Managing Director Shams-ul-Qayyum informing him of his termination for misconduct.
Qayyum violated point seven of his contract by publishing advertisements and levelled baseless allegations against the provincial finance minister.
The BoK managing director was charged with breaching section seven of his employment contract.
On Wednesday, the provincial government decided to relieve the BoK chief of his duties in a cabinet meeting.
Qayyum had accused Finance Minister Muzaffar Said, of the Jamaat-e-Islami, of corruption and nepotism in a notice printed in a newspaper last year.
