KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan Chief Farooq Sattar expressed his reservations on Saturday regarding disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif?s political revival, saying that if a person cannot participate in active politics, then how he can lead a party.

Sattar was speaking to media in Karachi, where he addressed the issue of the recently approved Elections Bill 2017 by the Senate. The bill rejected opposition?s amendments which favoured continuation of an existing law.

According to the clause, a disqualified person cannot be an office-bearer of any political party in case of his disqualification as member of the parliament.

According to Sattar, the MQM-P supported the amendments introduced to the bill by the Pakistan People?s Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

?If any MQM-P member supported the PML-N in this case, then action would be taken against that individual,? he said.

The MQM-P chief said that the law is against the Constitution and the spirit of the Articles, 62 and 63.

On the subject of Karachi package of Rs25 billion announced by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Sattar said that the package is the right of the city and soon work will start on the plan.
