The iPhone 7 Is Outselling The iPhone 8

Apple may have launched their latest smartphone, namely the iPhone 8, but a report suggests that more people are buying the iPhone 7 rather than the newly launched smartphone. Reuters reports an analysis from KeyBanc Capital Markets and carrier surveys conducted in the US and UK that suggests this claim.

Traditionally, when Apple launches the latest model of the iPhone, it is extraordinarily popular amongst fans and often sells like hotcakes. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have been available on shelves since September 22nd (September 29th for India), however, it was met with a colder response from fans when compared to previous iPhone launches. This also corroborates the notion that many people are probably holding out for the iPhone X that is due to release on November 4th in India.

“Many respondents indicated that a meaningful portion of customers are buying the iPhone 7 in lieu of the new iPhone 8, given the lack of significant enhancements in the new phone,” KeyBanc analyst John Vinh told Reuters.

We reviewed the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and found it to be the most powerful smartphone on the planet, until the iPhone X releases. We also found the two smartphones to be very similar to the iPhone 7, apart from differences such as a glass back, wireless charging, and improved camera performance. The iPhone 8 starts from INR 64,000 in India while the iPhone 7 is currently available for INR 38,999.

While many people are waiting for the iPhone X, there are reports that suggest a delay in production might lead to a limited supply upon the initial release. This may result in iPhones customers waiting even longer than expected and may just cause fans to fall back on the iPhone 8/8Plus.
