LAHORE: Punjab wildlife department foiled a smuggling attempt at Lahore airport on Tuesday. 

The department, along with airport security forces, arrested a Qatari citizen for smuggling nine falcons worth more than Rs5 million to his native country. 

Director-General Wildlife Department Khalid Ayaz Khan informed that suspect has been identified as Ahmed Hussain Ali Muhammad-ul-Saada. 

The suspect was also challaned under the Wildlife Act, said the DG. 

The operation was conducted after the vigilance squad was tipped off about the attempted smuggling. 

The suspect had hidden the nine Falcons in a black bag. 

Khan further said that operations being held across the province for the implementation of the Wildlife Act.
