ABBOTTABAD: Fifteen labourers sustained burn injuries when an explosion took place after a gas leak at a factory in the Hattar Steel Mills in Haripur.

The injured, two of whom are in critical condition, have been shifted to the Pakistan Ordnance Factories Hospital in Wah Cantt.

A number of fire incidents in factories in Pakistan have emerged this year, which experts say point to a dismal state of safety precautions in the factories.

On May 21, a fire broke out in a plastic factory in Labour Square area of SITE in Karachi, which was doused late afternoon the same day.

A cardboard factory in the Bhangoria Goth area of the city, which erupted on June 1, was doused after five hours. No loss of lives was reported in either of the incidents.
