Noble Peace Laureate Malala Yousafzai on Saturday said that she is deeply hurt by the attack on senior journalist Ahmed Noorani.

"Ahmed Noorani's struggle is for Pakistan's cause and we all stand united with him in this struggle," Malala said. "I pray that he [Norani] gets well soon."

The social activists also said that she will visit Pakistan some day and continue her mission to 'spread the light of education.'

Malala's father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, said that he is confident that cowards will be defeated someday.

"We faced similar issues; I am confident that cowards will be defeated someday and only those who think for Pakistan's betterment will be successful."

Malala fought for years for the rights of girls to education in Pakistan.

She leapt to global fame after a Taliban gunman shot her in the head on a school bus in October 2012 for defending her right to attend school.

At 19, Malala is the youngest Messenger of Peace, the highest honour given by the United Nations for an initial period of two years. She was also the youngest person to win the Nobel peace prize in 2014 when she was 17.

Malala got accepted at Oxford in August where she studies philosophy, politics and economics.
