LONDON: Champions League holders Real Madrid suffered a horrendous Wembley debut as Dele Alli scored twice in Tottenham Hotspur?s 3-1 victory at Wembley on Wednesday to send the London club into the last 16.

The sides began the night as joint leaders of Group H but Tottenham were far superior as they ended Madrid?s 30-match unbeaten run in Champions League group play in stunning fashion.

Alli gave Tottenham the lead from close range in the 27th minute and doubled the home side?s advantage early in the second half before Christian Eriksen put Spurs in cruise control.

Real, who had lost only one of their last 22 European fixtures, swarmed forward looking to salvage something from a desperate situation but their night took a turn for the worse when Tottenham counter-attacked in devastating fashion in the 65th minute, Kane picking out Christian Eriksen to calmly slot home.

Ronaldo fired home his sixth goal in this year?s competition to set up a frantic last 10 minutes but Tottenham held firm to avenge their quarter-final defeat by Real in 2011.
