Vital for Pakistan, US to continue working for peace, stability: Aizaz Chaudhry
WASHINGTON: Pakistan's Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry met Chairman Senate Homeland Security Committee Ron Johnson on Thursday and said it is vital that Pakistan and the United States continue to work together for peace and stability in the region, said a statement released.
Chaudhry added that Pakistan and the United States have made great progress in degrading the terrorist threat in Afghanistan.
Pakistan's envoy also briefed Johnson about Pakistan?s successes in the fight against militancy and extremism.
Chaudhry credited the country?s comprehensive counterterrorism operations for improving the security situation in the country. He further added that the economy was resurging and foreign investor interest, including from corporate America, was high in Pakistan.
The US senator appreciated the briefing given by the envoy and said agreed upon the importance of sustained cooperation between Pakistan and the US in order to achieve their common goals.
