PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman Monday strongly rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's call for the dissolution of assemblies through a mutual consensus.

Of late, the PTI has taken the stance that the incumbent government has failed to deliver and the country should go for early elections.

Speaking at a news conference, Fazl said, "It was better to suggest rolling back democracy and imposing martial law in the country, instead of calling for the dissolution of assemblies."

"Will such people, who speak of unconstitutional measures for dissolution of constitutional institutions, lead the country," he questioned.

Earlier in the day, Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah also said that his party does not support call for early elections.

He said the PPP has no issues if the next general elections are held on the basis of the 1998 census results, however, the polls should be held on time.
