The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to postpone the semi-finals of the National T20 Cup in light of the crackdown against protesters in Islamabad, which began early morning Saturday as law enforcement personnel used tear gas shelling to disperse a sit-in that had blockaded the capital for weeks.

The semi-finals, which were scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi today, will now be held on Sunday, the PCB said.

The board said it is monitoring the situation and will update on the latest development.

The first semi-final is between Lahore Whites and Faisalabad, while the second is between Lahore Blues and FATA.

A policeman was martyred and at least 150 people injured, including several security officials, in clashes with protesters after authorities commenced an operation to disperse the weeks-long sit-in at Faizabad interchange earlier today.

Dozens of protesters were detained as they resisted the operation and pelted stones at policemen and FC personnel, after the capital was virtually paralysed for weeks due to the sit-in by a religious group.Β
