ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Saturday appealed to the protesters in Islamabad to keep the protest peaceful.

"Finality of Prophethood is a vital element of our religious belief hence I appeal to the protesters to remain peaceful," Imran said.

In another statement, the PTI chief said that he had concerns over the worsening situation of the country due to the government's ineffectiveness.

"Why wasn't Raja Zafar-ul-Haq Committee's report issued despite admitting the mistake," Imran said. "Why wasn't necessary action taken against those found responsible by the committee?"

He delayed his visit to Karachi today in light of the metropolitan's situation, where protests against the crackdown on the Faizabad sit-ins are being staged.

The operation to clear Faizabad interchange from protesters staging a sit-in began early morning on Saturday.

Heavy contingents of police, FC and Rangers were deployed to the interchange, where they used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters, who had paralysed the federal capital for almost three weeks.
