Geo News' reporter Amna Amir was among the award winners who received the award at the ceremony ? Lab Azad ? held at IBA Karachi earlier today.
Amir received the award for a report on basic health facilities for pregnant women.
Former Senator Javed Jabbar and journalists working for different organisations were also in attendance.
Lab Azad is an independent award given every year to print and broadcast journalists who exhibit distinction in reporting on social issues.
Every year specific issues are selected under which key nominations are invited from journalists nationwide. An independent jury, of senior journalists comprising highly respected names, evaluates shortlisted stories against an established criteria for finalising winners.
The award aims to recognise, promote and institutionalise the values of accountability, originality, independence, neutrality and above all issue specialised journalism in Pakistan.
