Nissan's IMx Won Our Hearts At CES 2018
Nissan unveiled their self-driving electric concept car at CES 2018 and we got a glimpse at what the future might look like for the company. The car is technically a crossover and has aggressive styling when it comes to visual appearance. The car is designed in a way where it can learn a user's driving style and preference and has a huge screen at the centre of the console that shows a bunch of infographics about what it has learned.Β

The car's design has apparently taken influence from Japanese swords, more popularly known as Katanas, that represent durability and finesse. The car definitely looks attractive to the eye with a full glass roof and an interior that has been trimmed with wood. The car also has the mob styled suicide doors to give the it the feel of having extra usable space.

In terms of features, the Nissan IMx is nothing short of a smart car as it has Nissan's brand new ProPilot system that enables self-driving technology on the vehicle. Other features include a retracting steering wheel, brake and accelerator pedal. This was done to provide additional room for riders so that they can relax comfortably while the car drives itself.Β

Daniele Schillaci, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Sales, said, "Through Nissan Intelligent Mobility, Nissan is committed to changing the way people and cars communicate, as well as how cars interact with society in the near future and beyond.β
The car is powered by two high-output electric motors which are present at both the front and the rear. The IMx also comes with all-wheel-drive capability. The full output of the motor is 429 bhp and it also has a torque of 700 Nm. All of this is possible due to a high-capacity battery developed by Nissan that has been re-engineered from the ground up. The Nissan IMx has a driving range of more than 600 kilometres on a single charge, which is quite impressive considering many electric vehicles are not capable of the same feat, at the moment.
Nissan says that the IMx is just a concept, for now, and will βreflect the actual direction of their efforts around 'Intelligent Mobility' and its productization.
