From the day Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced his movie 'Padmavati' to this date when it finally saw its release (after numerous cuts and CGI cover up) as 'Padmaavat'; the trajectory of this movie has been far from being a smooth sail. And one of the biggest obstacles in its path is the Karni Sena, who have been constantly demanding a ban on the movie's release.

Fresh controversies kept on brewing as we inched closer to the release date, and such was the terror of Karni Sena that 'Padmaavat' makers had to cover Deepika Padukone's midriff using CGI in the 'Ghoomar' song. It's funny how people got triggered so easily by something that they haven't even seen yet. We guess one will have to now think twice before calling India a democratic country because clearly freedom of expression has gone for a toss.

The Karni Sena is leaving no stone unturned in giving their protest a nasty and violent face, glimpses of which we saw last evening when they burned down vehicles, attacked a school bus WITH children in them and vandalized different places and properties across the country. While things have taken a nasty turn and has wrapped the whole country under an invisible garb of tension, people, however, couldn't help but laugh at the irony of the result of Karni Sena's own actions.

Yesterday, a group of Karni Sena members gathered at Jyoti Talkies Square in Bhopal, to protest against the movie's release. Yes, just another day. But amidst the vandalism, they burnt down a Maruti Swift car parked nearby. However, it turns out that they mistakenly burnt the car of their own group member, Surendra Singh Chauhan.  

Talking to PTI, Bhopal DIG Dharmendra Choudhary said, “A car caught fire during the protests. It is a matter of investigation whether the vehicle was torched or it caught fire. We have detained three protestors from Jyoti Talkies Square in this connection.”

Although it is still unknown if the car was torched or it caught fire during the protest, Twitter was already left in splits and couldn't help but say that Karma is indeed a b***h.
