People say, “Great leaders lead by example!” If there ever was a contest to choose the poster boy for this quote, I will vote for Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, as the man has time and again proven why I am right.

People who create a mess should ideally clean it as well. But, how many of us actually do that? Well, I can count the number of people on my fingers who clean their own sh*t, however, counting the ones who don't, will take me ages. And if it's someone at a higher level, chances of someone else cleaning their mess is probably 'higher' than their position. This brings us to Dutch PM Rutte, who did something so ordinary yet so umimaginable that people are now hailing him as an inspiration that the world needs right now.

Since the past few days, a video of Rutte is going viral on social media for all the right reasons. Rutte was walking in the Parliament premises with a cup of coffee in his hands and the very next minute, it was seen spilled all over the floor.

Now, what will be the first thing you'll do if you spill coffee on the floor? Probably reach out for some tissues or a cloth or call someone to clean it up. But, we're talking about the PM here, so you clearly can't expect him to clean the floor, right? I mean, how many PMs or ministers do you know who do that? But what Rutte did next is what sets him apart. Rutte did not wait for the housekeeping staff to come and clean it and neither did he hesitate in cleaning it himself.

Rutte immediately took the mop and started mopping the floor. He even took out a cloth and cleaned all the remaining coffee stains.

Was he embarrassed? Was he ashamed of cleaning the floor in front of his colleagues? No. In fact, he did it on his own will and was happy while he was at it.

There are some emotions that can't be faked and that expression he  had on his face while cleaning the floor is proof, that it was a genuine act and not showoff. We need more people like PM Rutte to lead others by example and show that no job is too small for anyone irrespective of which position they are at.
