Geo.tv/FilesRAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army was helping the local administration with relief and rescue in Gilgit Baltistan's Astore area, which was recently hit by an earthquake, the military's media wing said in a statement issued Friday.
"Pakistan army troops assisting civil administration in Astore, Gilgit Baltistan in relief and rescue effort in Earthquakes hit areas of Astore," the Inter-Services Public Relations' (ISPR) statement read.
The Army had sent in helicopters, engineers, doctors, and paramedics to help the quake-hit area and its residents, who had been left stranded, it added, noting that the road to Astore Valley had been opened for traffic as well.
"Cooked food being provided to victims. Doctors and paramedics providing necessary medical care," the ISPR added.
