Head coach Rahul Dravid couldn’t have asked for a better start to his new stint with the senior men’s cricket team. Overcoming the disappointments of the T20 World Cup, Team India whitewashed New Zealand in the T20I series and followed that up with a 1-0 Test series win.
He might have looked at ease in his new role but if we look back he wasn’t very keen on taking up the coveted job. It took a lot of convincing from the BCCI president and secretary Jay Shah before the former Indian captain finally agreed to leave his previous job at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and replace Ravi Shastri.

Ever since Shastri announced that he would not be reapplying for the job, Dravid’s name started doing rounds and various media reports suggested that he was the front-runner to fill in his boots.

Things weren’t as easy as it appeared from the outside but Ganguly and Shah were ready to do everything in their capacity to change his mind and convince him to take up the role for the sake of Indian cricket.

Ganguly understood why Dravid was hesitant on accepting such a high-profile job but he also knew that there was no better person to take up the role and take Indian cricket forward than his former teammate.

That’s why despite Dravid’s initial reluctance, the BCCI president along with the secretary but β€˜The Wall’ stood firm and, at one stage, both of them had given up and reappointed him as the head of the NCA.

While they had started looking for other suitable candidates and even started informal talks with Australian legend Ricky Ponting, their mind was still stuck on Dravid.

β€œWe had Rahul in mind for a long period of time, both me and Jay, but he wasn't agreeing because of the time away from home [and] because doing a national team's job is [about being] on the road for about 8-9 months in a year and he has two young children,” Ganguly said on the 'Backstage with Boria' show.

β€œAt one stage we gave up, he was appointed as the head of NCA to look after it and take things forward. We had done all the interviews and everything, his interview and application, and he was appointed at the NCA. But even after he was appointed, we still kept insisting,” he added.

Ganguly also said that he even talked to some of the Indian players regarding what kind of a personality they wanted in the dressing room and they all, without being too obvious, showed a clear inclination towards Dravid.
Nothing can be said with absolute certainty but players’ positive feedback is perhaps what triggered Dravid to reconsider his decision and he finally accepted the role.

This also makes sense because Dravid didn’t want himself to go through the same ordeal as his former teammate and legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble who had to quit from his head coach position after a fallout with the Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

β€œAnd when we spoke to the players also [about] what sort of person they want, you could clearly see that, you know, there was an inclination to Rahul so we communicated that to him. I spoke to him personally many times [saying] that, 'I know it's hard but give it a try for two years, and if you find it too hard then we'll see another way'.

β€œLuckily he agreed and I don't know what triggered the change in his mind but he agreed and I think this is the best BCCI could have done in terms of coaching once Ravi left,” he concluded.

While Dravid has had a great start to his senior coaching career, he has a huge challenge coming up later this month when they tour South Africa. It’s the only major cricket nation where the Indian team has never won a Test series.
It won’t be an easy task but given how the team has performed on the last couple of overseas tours this is arguably our best chance to break the jinx.

Emraan Hashmi made his acting debut in a supporting role with a 2003 film Footpath starring Aftab Shivdasani and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles. However, it was his 2004 release Murder that not only got him box office success but also the tag of a 'serial kisser'.Β

Now imagine a scenario where β€œThe Serial Kisser” himself is left red-faced!Β
Well, something like that happened on the sets of his 2016 film Azhar, a biopic on the life of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin.Β
During the making of the song Bol Do Na Zara, Nargis Fakhri and Emraan Hashmi can be seen talking about shooting the song in freezing cold weather.Β
Nargis also talks about her multiple kissing scenes with Emraan in the song. She says how she had to kiss him five times and she even thought of charging extra for it.Β

Not just that, she also talked about how it was uncomfortable for her to kiss Emraan who was sporting a fake moustache as a part of the character that he was playing.Β
She said, β€œI had to kiss that boy, like five times. And I was gonna start charging extra. Because I was like, β€˜Hell no, this ain’t in my contract.’ I know he was happy about it, although he acted like, β€˜Oh my god, I really didn’t know this was going to happen.’ He is a liar. He loved it.”
The making video then shows a sequence of the two kissing and even after the director yells β€œCut”, Nargis grabs Emraan further and continues the kiss leaving him gobsmacked for a moment while the crew members around them burst into laughter.Β
    Watch the making video below:Β

The actress had also talked about her kissing scenes with Emraan during the promotions of the film.Β
She had told Indian Express, β€œAfter I signed the contract, I got to know he (Emraan Hashmi) was known as the serial kisser. We were shooting for the song 'Bol Do Na Zara' which means to say what I want to say. I was like how can I say anything as my lips are always stuck to his (Emraan). How can I speak? How can I speak? And there were many retakes. I thought it was a joke and that they were pulling a prank And then I told them I will charge extra.”

Taapsee Pannu, who made her Bollywood debut with David Dhawan's 2013 film Chashme Baddoor, has indeed come a long way. She has established herself as a versatile actress by delivering power-packed performances in films like Baby, Pink, Badla, Saand Ki Aankh, Thappad, among others. However, did you know that she was asked to behave and look a certain way in order to get films with big heroes to reach the top?
Yes, you read that right! During an interview with Cosmopolitan India recently, Taapsee talked about her initial struggle and the roles she played down South. For those who don’t know, she worked in various Tamil and Telugu films before entering the Hindi film industry.Β
The Naam Shabana actress said, "In the beginning, I was told that the only way to become a star was to work in big-ticket films. Alongside big heroes, and that's what took you to the top. And that pretty much meant you had to look ultra-glam, be the diva... look a certain way, and be a certain way. And as I told you, I clearly didn't fit in. So in the beginning, I tried really hard to change myself, and to seem more glamorous and a little dumb... because, apparently, looking good equals not having a brain".
Taapsee further added that she took up certain roles according to the norms at that time. She then quickly realised that those projects weren't working for her. And whenever she experimented with something different, unconventional, out of the box, it did work for her. So, she understood that being relatable on-screen worked better for her.Β
Taapsee realised this while working down South and knew that she would not repeat her mistakes when she switched to Bollywood.
On the career front, Taasee rose to fame after playing a pivotal role in Akshay Kumar-starrer Baby and has been continuously doing strong content-driven films since then. Currently, she has multiple projects in her kitty including Loop Lapeta, Dobaaraa, Mithali Raj biopic titled Shabaash Mithu, her first production venture Blurr, and comedy-drama Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan? co-starring Pratik Gandhi.
